Song for the Day: New Deep by Everything Everything

Is there something wrong with all of this?

Or is there something wrong with me?
Just kidding, not really in a vent mood right now. Surprisingly! The last week and a half have been kind of like a series of stairs. I think every now and then it's good to fall down some stairs. Otherwise you'd never realize how strong your skull is, or how many coping mechanisms you'd developed and honed for stair-falling. Does that make the fall any more pleasant?

No?

But that's fine, too. If you want to know about someone who is adept at stair-falling, I would indicate Her Highest Auspicia. I did some designs for a few of the Auspicias, specifically the canon-relevant ones, but I plan on knowing what they all look like at some time in my life, in the same way I plan on eventually knowing all of them. Thusly I'll have all 63 books planned if not eventually written. Is this excessive?

Aislyn

The first Auspicia. I want to make her limber, since she's a traveller, but I don't think this properly conveys any kind of ethereality or regality. I mean, she's a novice, and she deliberately tries to appear underwhelming, but she's still supposed to look like an extradimensional and here she looks like.... not that.

Asha

She and Aislyn are the reason for the "mild spoilers". I like Asha's design but she's still probably my second least-favorite of the group... a lot of Asha's design came from an old Canira character who was a sona. A lot of sona designs fold into the Auspicia's design, one way or another, but I kind of dig that anyways. 

Ampere

Ampere is the Auspicia from The Panacea Project. Out of the group, she's probably the biggest personality, and save Rena, probably also my favorite. This is because she fully rejects Auspiciadom in favor of doing science and lusting over dragons (which is fully not acceptable given dragons are huge adversaries of the Omnian kingdom for a large chunk of history). You'd think this would make her sympathetic and to some extent, yes, it does, but she's also a huge pain in the ass who just does whatever suits her and that's why I love her. A lot of the other Auspicias are pretty passive despite their power, mainly functioning as Deus Ex Machina or just a backdrop, but Ampere is a full-blown Chronaverse protagonist with all the entitlement and baggage that comes with that.

Heilin

War Auspicia! The 62nd Auspicia has to partake in the war against the Obsidians, thusly, she looks like this and she kicks ass. Heilin's had a lot of designs and I'm still not sold on this one, but I think it's one of the more leader-y Auspicia designs, which would be the point.

Lucil

To a human observer, this raises all kinds of red flags. Symbolically, in Omnian mythology, the dragon wings would be a huge red flag, as would the small horns, but nothing else. Lucil looks like the devil because there's only one book set in this time period and it involves seven Sentients eventually coming to the conclusion their entire homeworld is corrupt, including the Auspicia, whose tapestry is continuously destroyed over the course of the story. 

So this is appropriate.
