Chap 59

That afternoon, Bangkok was wrapped in a light rain—the kind that tapped softly against balcony railings before dissolving into mist, leaving the streets gleaming and dark. Lena's apartment carried the scent of chamomile tea Miu had just brewed, its warmth spreading slowly through the room, turning the space calm in a way that felt almost unreal.

Lena sat back against the sofa, one arm around Miu, the other resting on a cream-colored notebook on her lap. A pencil lay tucked between its pages, as if waiting for a decision to be written. Miu leaned her cheek against Lena's chest, lazily tracing small circles on Lena's arm with her fingertips.

"Lena," Miu murmured, her voice soft, melting into the sound of rain.

"Hm?"

"If the wedding is only for family..." She hesitated. "Where would we hold it?"

Lena paused, her gaze drifting toward the window fogged with moisture.

Images passed through her mind in quick succession—a grand hall filled with strangers, forced smiles, raised glasses, the harsh glare of cameras—and Miu being pulled from her hands amid the noise.

She shook her head slightly.

"Not in the city."

Miu lifted her head, eyes bright.

"Then where?"

Lena brushed a hand through the soft hair falling over Miu's forehead, her voice lower now, slow and certain.

"By the sea."

Miu blinked. "The sea?"

"Yes. Somewhere with only wind, waves... and us."

The words were quiet, but they made Miu's heart tighten. Not from romance alone, but from the sense of belonging woven into Lena's voice—something Miu had always longed for without knowing how to name it.

"The sea feels a little lonely this season," Miu whispered.

"I like beautiful loneliness," Lena replied, the corner of her mouth lifting.

Miu laughed softly and tucked her face into Lena's shoulder.

"I do too."

The rain faded to a mist, clinging to the glass. Lena set the notebook aside and pulled Miu fully onto her lap, arms wrapping around her.

"What kind of wedding do you want?" Lena asked.

The seriousness in her tone made Miu pause.

Not what the families want. Not what the companies need.

But what you want.

Miu looked at her for a long moment.

Lena's expression held no calculation, no strategy—only a fragile sincerity.

"I want..." Miu began slowly, feeling her way through the thought.

"I want to stand next to you while the sun sets. No stage lights. No cameras. Just the sound of the waves... and us laughing."

Lena drew in a quiet breath.

The image struck something deep inside her—sunset painted across the sea, the breeze lifting Miu's veil, her hand resting in Lena's, their eyes locked as the world narrowed to one horizon and two people standing before it.

"Beautiful," Lena said softly.

"So... we'll do that?" Miu asked, excitement and nerves mingling in her voice.

Instead of answering, Lena pulled her closer and pressed a slow, steady kiss to her forehead—promise before words.

"Yes," she whispered.

"Our wedding will be by the sea."

Miu laughed, looping her arms around Lena's neck.

"Really? No huge hall? No crowds?"

"No," Lena replied, her hand warm against Miu's back.

"I don't want to share that day with strangers."

"But people will talk..."

"Let them," Lena said without hesitation.

"That day isn't for listening to anyone else."

Miu was quiet for a moment, then lifted a hand to Lena's cheek, her gaze so soft it made Lena want to hold her forever.

"Thank you," Miu said quietly.

"For what?"

"For choosing us first."

The rain stopped. The western sky softened into pale orange, sunlight slipping through damp clouds and painting the floor in gentle gold.

Lena stood, pulling Miu up with her.

"Come."

"Where?"

"The balcony."

When the door opened, cool air carrying the scent of wet earth washed over them. The sea was distant, but the horizon was clear.

Lena stood behind Miu, arms circling her waist, chin resting on her shoulder.

"On our wedding day," Lena said slowly, "the sun will set right there."

Miu followed her gaze to the sky glowing with warm hues, the beauty catching in her throat.

"Lena..."

"Yes?"

"I'm so happy."

Lena tightened her hold just a little.

"So am I."

No guest lists.
No elaborate plans.

Just one simple decision:

The sea.
The sunset.
And us.

In that moment, they both knew—the small wedding by the ocean was more than a choice of place. It was a declaration.

This love belonged to them. And no one else had a claim on it.
