Episode 3.1: The Attention Agenda!
———————————
9/12/2115, Savior Syndicate Building, 12:24 PM
———————————
A large robot from the top of the room, connected to a big mental arm, rises down slowly, its face turns into a screen and begins to project photos. Photos of the rat pack, the men tied up with ropes, broken glasses, a big black van next to the bank.
There's a group of people, all in professional looking clothing, one sticks out a little. Her burgundy, brown hair was tied up into a low ponytail with teal bangs, as she kept writing some stuff down.
There's a woman in front of the screen, her hair is black like ravens and tied up in a spiky bun, she's wearing a crisp-collared shirt with a red brooch choker, a pencil skirt with red slits and black heels.
She pushes up her rectangle glasses. "As we can see from these pictures, and as has been asked by other members, none of our own were on patrol. So, with that in mind, we have to acknowledge the unfortunate possibility of vigilantes in the area again."
Others whispered to each other. The woman sighed. "I'm glad we're all aware of how dangerous they can be they're left unchallenged. So we all need to be focused.
The woman glanced at one of the men in the room with his black and grey striped pin suit, he had a deep scar under his left eye. He stood up and turned to face everyone. "These Vigilantes are definitely armed and dangerous, but guess what? The Savior Syndicate is filled with the best heroes we'd all seen, we can do what we can do to bring them to justice."
The teal-dyed woman, who seems to be in her early forties raised her hand, the woman at the front nodded. "Yes?"
"Did the bank robbers offer a description of what the vigilantes looked like before they disappeared?"
"We got a couple of descriptions, but since our vigilantes attacked the robbers and gave them a couple of head injuries, their words could get mixed up a little."
The scar guy grabbed a piece of paper and moved it towards the tiny robot; the paper was beamed up and it was projected on the screen.
"Subjects wore assortment of masks, heart, electronic visor, skull, star, gem, flower. Also had worn big hats that curved at the ends. Worked in pairs of two before coming all together and vanishing."
The heroes at the table nod their heads. Mieko cleared her throat. "For any chance they strike, we make sure to prevent them from any chaos as much as possible. Make sure not to say too much to the press but keep them informed. Thank you for their time."
One by one, the heroes in the meetings begin to leave the room. The teal woman smiled and got back up. "Great Job, Mekio.''
Mekio pushed up her glasses and let out a smile. "Thank you, Cheonna. That's very kind of you.' But I believe Ash did his best.''
"No way, all you.'' Ash smirked. "I'm not looking forward to talking to the press about this one. They'll be chomping at the bits over here."
"Yes, but isn't that glory of being a full-time superhero?" Mekio asked, with her mind, she made a coffee cup float towards her hand before taking a sip.
"But seriously, we need to be careful. I highly doubt that those vigilantes will stop after one attack. We should figure out who they are and what their plans are, quickly and swifty.''
"Good idea. Maybe we can try and ask some questions downtown.'' Cheonna questioned, the other two nodded their heads and left the boardroom. The hallway of the savior syndicate headquarters were long and white, the ground was at least. Grunts were in their uniforms, chatting with each other as they took off their helmets and visors, passing by a huge stained-glass window where other superheroes flew on.
Meiko tapped her chin for a moment. How could this happen? There were laws in place for vigilantism, and they cracked down most of their operations in the past 20 to 30 years. So how could this new group form?
What could they be after?
—------------------------------------
9/12/2115, Kandi's Room, 12:30 PM
—------------------------------------
The troublesome vigilantes were hanging in Kandi's bedroom, her walls were bubblegum pink with brown and cream colors for accents, magazine holders, a big desk with mirrors, with makeup brushes with makeup posters and posters of supermodels with big leopard dresses hanging in her room.
The girls were either on the carpet, reading a couple of magazines, on their phones typing in their group chat or laying on Kandi's bed, looking up. Kandi, of course, laid on her bed and mumbled to herself, Frostina turned her head. "Are you okay? You'd been mumbling for the past 10 minutes.''
"Yeah, you doing okay?" Andromeda patted the bed as Kandi sat back up. "Yeah, I'm okay. I guess I'm just bored now... I wanna go out again...''
"Oh, and fight the good fight?" Tricity grinned, Kandi sat back up and did finger guns. "You got that right. I feel like my trigger finger is itching for blood!"
"Well, things like this take time. We can't just always go diving into adventures all of the time." Poppy mused, "I'm sure you can go out there and fight again. But for now, we should try and be patient...''
"Yeah, uh actually I wanted to say something..." Sana closed her magazine.
"What's up?"
"I wanted to make some... rules, I guess, for this whole thing. Just so we can never get caught ever. I guess for one, typing in the group-chat for whatever superhero business we have to deal with.''
"Okay, okay. That's cool.'' Poppy sat right up on the ground. "What else are you thinking?'' Sana rubbed her chin, but Tricity chirped up. "Oh, wait we leave the calling cards!"
"What? Why?" Andromeda blinked, Tricity smiled and pulled out a comic book. "I got the idea from this group of hero guys called Apparition Stealers, and they always take stuff from the bad guys and leave a calling card. Afterwards!"
"Cool Comic idea, but I think we shouldn't do any big card tricks until later on, Okay?"
Kandi laughed a little. "Uh, yeah. Cool comic bro, but we can't do that. Nobody is supposed to know we're doing this stuff, it breaks the illusion.''
"Aw, man. That's not fair!" Tricity frowned like a cartoon character who lost their ice cream and flopped her arms around, Poppy patted her head. "It's okay. Uh, any other rules we should follow, Sana?''
"Mimm... I'm not too sure. Do you guys have any ideas? The only thing I came up with is not telling anyone else outside of our group.''
"Oh, especially our parents! If they found out, they'd freak." Frostina shook her head. Tricity sat up right. "Oh yeah! It's the number one rule in all superhero comic books!
"Can't tell someone who's not there..." Andromeda chuckled.
"Depressing." Kandi nodded. "But you know what? This isn't a rule, but this is something I want to get. A police Scanner."
"Woah," Poppy blinked before shaking her head. "Wait, your mom is the chief right? She wouldn't let you take one of those, they're only for police officers.''
Kandi grinned. "And who says that's the only place to get a scanner, huh?" Andromeda held down her phone and sighed. "Oh god, we're going downtown aren't we?"
Kandi pulled out her car keys from the pocket of her hoodie. "Maybe~"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~🎀⚡♠️🔮💎🏵️~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Downtown Sapphire City, there's a lot of stuff you need to look out for. The buildings being squished together is one, and how the sidewalks can be a little janky to work around. But the biggest part of Downtown was the gas station store.
The place was squeezed in between two buildings, the colors yellow and orange was the main theme and the words "Gas Station" were always flashing.
Kandi did a turn and parked right outside the place, the girls hopped out of there. Frostina blinked. "How did they not change the place in 2 years?"
"Oh, come on! It looks fine. Ooh, I can't wait to see Mr. Jerry! He's cool" Kandi swooned, "He has all the good stuff you can ask for in the entire world!"
"Uh, yeah... real stand-up sort of guy." Andromeda crossed her arms, the girls walked up the stairs. "Don't you think he's a bit... shady?"
"Yeah, but he served time for the con artist stuff. It's all good now. People can change."
"Yeah, six months is all someone needs to change overnight." Andromeda sighed, Kandi rolled her eyes and opened the door to the store. Thankfully, the gas station was a lot bigger than it was on the inside. The stands were filled with different chips, cookie bags and had two different Slurpee machines in the back.
Mr. Blob was at the counter, grinning like a shark, His hair was all flared out, he had on a purple leather jacket with little star chains hanging out. Kandi grinned back. "Hi, Mr. Jerry."
"Ey there, Kiddies. How are we doing today?" Mr. Blob asked, Kandi grinned and bounced on her tippy toes. "Ha, we're great. Super great. Uh, so you do happen to have any uh... special equipment?'' She whispered. "We're planning on playing some spy games.''
"Spy games, huh?" Mr. Blob rubbed his chin, Frostina stood next to Kandi. "Uh, yes sir. Do you have anything like that in your shop?''
Mr. Jerry nod his head. "Actually, I do. Sort of. Wait right here, I'll get in the back.''
"Yeah, totally!" Kandi giggled, twirling her braids, grinning like a dork. Tricity giggled too. "Someone has a crush~" Tricity poked Kandi's cheeks for a moment, Kandi rolled her eyes and laugh, "Shut up, no I don't.''
"You better now, he's like a dinosaur dude." Poppy pointed out.
"Chill out, you act like I'm gonna throw on a wedding dress.''
"Well when a girl twirls her little curls, a dove shall bless your union."
Kandi smirked and rolled her eyes. Andromeda crossed her arms. "Are you sure he can give us what we need?"
"Uh, duh. When have I ever steered any of us wrong?" Kandi asked, Sana raised her hand. "Uh, there was that time in Meadow Pongs. We were stuck there for 30 minutes..."
"Okay, that was one time! And it's not my fault, how was I supposed to know a left turn means mean bity ducks."
"Yeah, they sucked." Andromeda sighed. Me. Blob came right back afterwards, holding the police scanner that the girls were after.
But it looked weird. It wasn't some mega-phone combined with a visor thing, but it didn't look like that weird brick box things in the 1990s.'
It's a little orange, tannish wide little tv that's the side of someone's hand, and it even had cat ears on top.
Andromeda furrowed her eyebrows. "What the fuck is this?"
"Uh, the special goods." Mr. Blob explained. Tricity got closer to the gadget and tapped it on its head, then it began to jump off the ledge and began to run outside the door. Kandi grinned, felt a couple of bucks and began to chase after it. "Thank you."
The girls blink before following Kandi behind, Andromeda glared at the guy. "If you're scamming us..." Her teeth were showing, he holds his hands in defense.
"Hey, hey. Relax. I may have been in the game once, but I'm telling you, that little box is the real deal. It can track anyone suspicious. Hey, it tracked me down a couple of times."
Andromeda raised an eyebrow, she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Fine. I guess. But if you try anything, I know." Andromeda narrowed her eyes and stormed out of there, following her friends on where ever they went, Mr. Blob chuckled and began to count the cash Kandi left behind.
Those crazy kids, heh.
9/12/2115, The Park, 12:45 PM.
————————————-
"Ah, well if you see anything odd in the next couple of days, please head down to the savior syndicate building, or give us a call."
Cheonna smiled, the older woman nod her head and began to walk away, holding her cane. Meiko, Cheonna and Arsenal were at the park, taking down any questions they could get, but It's the normal answers that tick Meiko off.
"I wasn't in the area."
"Well, I heard noises, but I didn't see anything."
"Nope. I don't know anything."
Meiko grumbled to herself as they all kept walking. "I don't understand it. No one knows anything? That feels unlikely."
Cheonna shrugged "Well, it's the first time we've been dealing with this. So, don't expect too much information."
"Yeah..." Ash agreed. The trio kept walking, until they heard this weird, Chibi voice. They looked behind themselves to see a small robot with cat ears and a dog tail, its head is a little tv-box. The words "ODD, written all over it" displayed on the screen.
"What the?" Cheonna asked, before looking back up, six girls were all behind the creature, panting. There's the one in pink, wearing a hoodie with tons of hair clips in her hair and big droopy makeup.
She looked up and smiled a little. "Hey there! Sorry, this guy got away from us." She picked up, the girls next to her seemed to be her friends. There's the purple one, wearing a beanie with cartoon animals clips on them, a pale girl with a black and teal dress with hearts all it.
A yellow girl with stripes and big pants and chains, a blue girl with bouffant pigtails and the last girl, dressed in Orange with a long flowing skirt, and big flowing sleeves.
"Sorry about that." Pink grinned, picking up the robot. Meiko raised an eyebrow. "Animal of yours?"
"Uh, no. It's like a wind up toy." Yellow interjected. Arensal blinked. "Really?"
"Yeah, really! It's kind of retro." Yellow replied, Blue girl held her hands. "We're sorry for bothering you..."
"Oh no, it's fine. This is actually a highlight." Cheonna chuckled, the girls nod their heads. Yellow looked them up and down. "Wait, are you guys like part of the Savior Syndicate?!"
"Yes, we are. We work with them." Ash smiled, Yellow's eyes sparkle as she got on her tippy toes. "That's so cool! Big fan over here!"
"Uh, yeah. Cool." Purple girl crossed her arms, seeming unimpressed. Meiko cleared her throat. "Well, did any of you see anything unusual from last night?"
"Uh, no..." Orange replied. "Nothing to report from there..."
"Mm, okay. Well, if you girls see anything suspicious," Ash opened his jacket and handed a card to the girls. "Make sure to call the savior syndicate."
Tricity held the card in her hands, completely star stuck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kandi mumbled to herself. The number right there, clear as day. Tricity was in awe, she took the card. "Real heroes, real heroes were talking to us..." She swooned, the girls sweat dropped at us.
"Ugh, just don't call those guys..." Andromeda pointed out. "It's like snitching on ourselves."
"Yeah, and keeping cards? Not exactly cool." Kandi picked up the tracker tv cat toy. Tricity frowned before they looked at the thing. "Okay, so what should we do this with? And how can it work?" Frostina asked.
Kandi shrugged. "Maybe there's like some secret compartment inside of this thing."
"Ooh, really?" Tricity squealed before taking the thing. "If that's the case, I can do some tinkering on it!"
"Eh, why not?" Kandi smiled. "But before you do that, why don't we get some lunch. the Pizza Parlor is right over there."
"Oh yeah! Let's do it!"
~~~~~~~~~~~🍭⚡️♠️🌙❄️🏵️~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Thank you! Have a cheesy day!" The cashier smiled, Kandi held two pizza boxes and placed them down at a rectangle table. The first pizza box had cheese, the other had pepperoni.
The girls begin to eat and drinking some of the sodas from the vending machines.
Tricity placed the tv tracker cat thing inside of her pocket. "Ugh, this is so good. I love this place."
"Yeah, it's great. But hey, how are you gonna fix the tracker?" Poppy asked, she pulled off the cheese. Tricity shrugged. "Well, I have been watching a lot of videos, so I just need to some parts to rearrange some things."
"Oh, that's nice..." Sana smiled.
The girls kept on eating, chatting amongst themselves before the tv in the background flipped over to the news.
"Mommy, mommy!" a little boy behind them pointed at the screen. His mother looked up. "Oh!"
The news broadcast with people in perfectly groomed suits and ties. "Good afternoon, Sapphire City! Urgent News from the savior syndicate building today!"
Kandi laughed a little before snipping some soda. "Mm, just some broadcasting stuff..."
"Could it be that Vigilantes are out and chasing chaos for Sapphire City?"
Kandi spat out her soda and coughed a little, some people stared as she smiled and wiped her chin. "My bad.."
"Last night, a group of bank-robbers were viciously attacked by a group of vigilantes, leaving behind a chaotic scene of window destruction and violence."
Andromeda balled her hands up, glaring at the screen. Of course they wanna say they're the bad guys for taking those jerks down.
"The Savior Syndicate urges the public to remain calm as they attempt to figure out these vigilantes' intentions with all of this."
Frostina scoffed and looked towards Poppy. "Isn't it obvious? We're helping."
Poppy shrugged. "Not to everyone."
The girls looked at Tricity, who simply just stared at the screen. Her big smile was gone, and she kept gripping at the table. Sana pat her shoulder and awkwardly gave her a side-hug. Tricity smiled a little. "Thank you..."
"Later on, The Savior Syndicate will discuss more of these acts of vigilantism with Cerise Boltz, our reporter."
The tv report kept on going, but the other people in the pizzerias had a lot of theories.
"Maybe they're criminals themselves. They probably took down the bank robbers to steal the cash."
"Great, now we have to deal with some wannabes now?"
"Girl, you wanna bet they didn't even do anything. Those little vigilantes wuss out or something."
Andromeda growled. Frostina scoffed. Poppy and Sana sighed as Tricity stared intently at the screen. Kandi sighed and picked up the pizza boxes. "Come on, let's get out of here. "
The girls get up and throw away their plastic plates, The girls left one by one, expect for Tricity who kept staring at the screen.
"New Vigilantes: A Danger to Us All?"
Tricity blinked and lowered her head. Didn't know that's how they felt. When in the world did they get so mean all of a sudden? This totally wasn't how it was supposed to go.
Not one bit.
