Dragon's Excerpts {6} : Maps - Find Me
Ello! :D My name is Sahara Redd. I am a sophomore in high school who basically wings her way through life like she's Chicken Little or Tweety Bird or something.
My parents love historical landmarks, hence why my name is Sahara. I was named after the Sahara desert in Africa, never mind the fact that my parents have never been to Africa.
Ever.
Don't believe me yet? I thought you wouldn't. Well, take my siblings' names for examples.
Since I am really nice, I will just make a list of my siblings. Just know, some of them were adopted, so that is why there are so many of us. Just letting you know so that you don't judge or say things about my parents.
That said, I will tell you their names from oldest to youngest.
Grand, the oldest of the bunch, is named after the Grand Canyon. The name is pretty fitting if you ask me, considering the fact that he is a deep dude. Seriously, he could become as famous as Langston Hughes if he tried.
And I don't compliment people lightly.
Oh, but don't tell him I said that.
Moving on!
The second oldest is my older sister Malaya, whose name is short for Himalaya because of the Himalayan mountains. She and Grand are only a few months apart, but at the moment Malaya is 16 while Grant is 17.
She gets really salty about that. I find it quite hilarious.
The third oldest is I, Sahara Monica Redd, age 15. I am the most wonderful of them all.
Yeah, no. That is a whole joke.
Anywhozies, the next runner up is... *drumroll*
Everest, named after Mount Everest. He is 13 years old, and quite the looker, at least, according to his best friend, Kiki. She doesn't say it to him, but I know she likes him. She told him that her friends said that though, never admitting that it was really her who thought that.
Ah, young love. So disgusting.
Everyone thinks he is a total heartbreaker, but in reality, he isn't.
Everest is actually the sweetest guy anyone could ever meet. He's fit enough for sports, but doesn't really play any. Maybe soccer, if he's in the mood.
Most times though, he much rather prefers to be smart with his studies and is really patient with his younger siblings, often times offering to take them places when he wants to go on a walk or something.
Cute kid.
Eiffel, obviously named after the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. She was dropped on our doorstep as a babe and we never were able to find her real parents. It's okay though, she knows that she is adopted and is glad that we took her in and cared for her.
Plus, she is a total sweetheart.
Or so it seems.
But, with Eiffel comes another, a double threat!
Her brother, Louvre, named after the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. They were both deposited on our doorstep in a box, wrapped in a huge blue blanket.
Louvre was the smaller of the two and doctor's said he wouldn't make it, but luckily he did.
Eiffel, although she doesn't remember it, was with him the entire time, holding onto his tiny hand. Her eyes were closed, but we believe she was willing her brother to survive, clutching him so that he wouldn't let go.
To this day we have know idea who is the oldest of the twins, but legend has it that Eiffel is the older on because she had a second thumb nub on her right thumb that we got burned off when she was three.
P.s. She started that legend.
Oh, and we know their ages because there was a note inside of the box. The two are now eleven, going through fifth grade with a bang.
They are freaking super geniuses. Their regular conversations with each other can range from Tom and Jerry to the math in the movie Hidden Figures, no joke.
That reminds me, I need to bribe them into doing my math homework...
Don't tell my parents!
The next in the crazy family of mine is Terracotta, or Terry. She is named after the ancient Terracotta Army statues in China. She too is pretty sweet, but she loves to make a mess. This eight year old is extremely artistic and believes that life without mess is not life at all.
She will do wonders, I just know it.
Last but definitely not least, my adorable younger brother Timothy! He is better known as Bam Bam because he acts like Bam Bam from the Flintstones.
He was a foster child, only brought into my family's life last year. Unfortunately, his mother died in some freak car accident. She was on the sidewalk when someone's car swerved into her, killing her instantly.
No, the driver was not drunk or high or whatever, but someone had rewired his brakes or something and he had just pulled out of his driveway when his car began to roll down the small hill he lived on.
He couldn't stop the car, the dude wasn't at fault. Poor guy was traumatized. He shows up once in a while to see Timothy and make sure he is okay, sometimes even buys him cool stuff, along with the rest of the family.
We call him Uncle Steve, even though his name is Michael.
Anyway, Timothy's mom loved him, but couldn't support him, so she put him in a foster home.
The plan was that she'd get a better job and earn enough money to provide everything he needed, then she'd come back to us and get him. We'd be allowed visits and whatnot, but she would have custody of him.
Despite that, he is the most precious thing ever and I can relate to him the most.
We're well known for our pranks, many times called the 'Mischievous Duo', sometimes known as the 'Mischievous Quartet' if the twins get involved.
Oh, and he is only five years old. I guess I forgot to mention that.
I am kind of jumping around, sorry. That is just how my brain works.
Back to the names...
Coincidence? I think not!
Sorry, I just had to do that.
Oh, and our dog's name is Nile, named after the Nile River. She's two. Our Parakeet's name is Amazon because of the Amazon River. Also, my parent's love Amazon Prime so...
What happens when each of us go on a huge family road trip summer 2017 and none of us have any clue as to where we are going except my parents?
Mayhem, that's what.
A/N
Honestly I don't even know XD
