Rangers in Reverse
Omg! I could cry this is the last chapter in Jenna's first book! Also if you don't remember them, I've introduced some canon characters early. All three of them, Justin, Theo and Lily, will all be making an appearance in this chapter. ENJOY! Also for this first scene, I don't actually know if it's at night, but I choose to believe.
--------------------------------------------
When Jenna got to the Youth Center, she was very irritated that the other Rangers had called her here, despite it being late at night, after the Youth Center had already closed. Luckily since her mother and father were really tired after work and her brother had tired himself out after spending the day playing soccer with his friends.
She wore a purple hoodie over a pair of jean shorts. Her hair was down and messy, the product of falling out of a window and into a bush.
She walked in, spotting Aisha and Adam a few steps ahead of her.
"Hey guys," She spoke up, quietly, as to not spook them. But the two still jumped in shock.
"Jenna, hey, you scared us," Aisha smiled at her, hand on her heart.
"Sorry," Jenna shrugged,
"Why do you have leaves in your hair?" Adam asked.
"Not everyone can just ask to leave the house at night," Jenna rolled her eyes, taking the leaves out of her hair.
Adam and Aisha laughed and the three walked into the Youth Center's juice bar.
"Hey," Aisha and Rocky greeted at the same time. The group of Rangers, excluding Katherine, grouped around the counter. Jenna however, sat down on a chair so she could be at the same level as them.
"Hey," Adam said, as Tommy leaned on the Juice Bar counter. "We got your message. What's up?"
"Where's Katherine?" Aisha asked, noticing she wasn't there. "Isn't she suppose to be here?"
"Actually, it's about Katherine," Tommy explained quietly, as they all leaned in.
"Yeah, tomorrow's her birthday," Billy explained.
"You're kidding?" Aisha asked, as she looked shocked, as did Adam and Jenna.
"How come she didn't say anything?" Adam wondered.
"Well, I don't think she wants to make it a big deal," Rocky guessed.
"If she didn't wanna make it a big deal, how'd you know about it?" Jenna questioned.
"The only reason I know, is cause I helped her register for school," Rocky explained, and Jenna nodded in understanding.
"Well, whether she likes it or not, no one gets away without at least one surprise party," Aisha said, grinning.
"Aggressive kindness?" Jenna questioned, looking around at the group, before nodding. "That checks out." She laughed as Rocky ruffled her hair.
"That's right," Billy agreed to Aisha's statement. "That's what we thought too."
"So, what should we do?" Adam asked.
"Well, we think we have the perfect place to take her," Tommy said.
"Like what?" Jenna asked, curious.
They all leaned in closer to whisper to each other.
"So I was thinking..." Tommy whispered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, the Rangers were leading a blindfolded Katherine to the carnival. Today, Jenna was wearing a jean skirt and a lavender t-shirt. She had a dark purple flannel around her waist, and her usual jewelry. She wore blue sneakers and two purple scrunchies to hold in her pigtails.
"Guys, where are you taking me?" Katherine asked. "I don't understand."
"Well, we wanted to make sure your first birthday in America was a special one," Billy explained.
"Yeah," Tommy said, as Kat giggled. "Come on, let's go, you're gonna love this." And they walked up to the carnival gates.
The Rangers huddled around her, as Tommy went to go get tickets.
"Ha, ha! You are gonna love it!" Rocky told her, grinning.
"It's so cool!" Jenna added, looking excited. Rocky and Tommy helped to take off her blindfold. She was facing the opposite way, and Jenna grinned, hoping she would like it.
"Alright, you ready?" Billy asked.
Katherine turned around and saw the carnival.
"Ta-da!" Rocky said.
"Surprise!" Aisha shouted.
"Isn't it great!" Jenna spoke.
"Oh, wow! This is wonderful!" Kat said, turning to the Rangers. "You guys..."
"What's the matter, Kat?" Adam asked.
"It's just that, I feel really lucky to have friends like you," Kat admitted, tears in her eyes.
"Well, we feel pretty lucky to," Rocky said.
"Yeah, but don't cry about it, it's your birthday," Jenna smiled. "No pity parties." She shook her head.
"Come on, guys. Let's go have some fun?" Aisha suggested.
"Yeah!" Rocky agreed.
They all laughed as they walked in.
--------------------------------------------
Theo was not one to stalk. But when he and Lily, plus both of their mothers, were at the carnival. He was suspicious when instead of playing with them, Jenna was with a group of teenagers, including her babysitter.
He was confused, of course, especially because she had told them that she had some really important stuff to do today, and wouldn't be able to come with them.
So naturally, he kept his eyes on her the entire time. While also trying to preoccupy Lily so she wouldn't see Jenna, knowing that she would be disappointed.
He had had a feeling that Jenna was hiding something for the past few months, and it only confirmed when he had been seeing her hang out with those older kids.
He would figure out what she was hiding, no matter what.
------------------------------------------------------------------
With the Rangers, Jenna stood at the bottom of the carnival's super slide, and waited for the other Rangers to come down.
She could hear them cheer in excitement as they slid down the bumps of the slide.
They all laughed as they reached the bottom, where Jenna had moved so she wouldn't be run over.
"Oh, man, that was so cool!" Kat admitted, practically jumping to her feet.
"Yeah," Tommy agreed. "Hey, why didn't you come, Jenna?" He asked.
"Do you see that thing compared to me?" Jenna asked. "The first bump and I would have flown off." She joked, causing them to laugh.
"Hey, you guys want to go on the Roller Plane?" Tommy asked, pointing to it.
"Yeah," Kat said.
"Alright," Tommy said.
They started to walk towards it, except Rocky who held his stomach.
"Um, I don't know if that's such a good idea," he said, getting the others attention. "I'm still stuffed from that chili dog."
"Told you to wait until you were done with the fast rides," Jenna grinned. The others all laughed. But then their communicators beeped.
"Oh, man," Tommy sighed. They moved to hide behind one of the games, before Tommy answered.
"This is Tommy," Tommy said. "We read you, Zordon."
"Power Rangers, prepare for teleportation to the Command Center immediately," Zordon said.
"Right," Tommy replied.
"Can't have one peaceful day," Jenna rolled her eyes, and Adam patted her on the shoulder.
They all pressed their communicators and teleported away.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Theo had been known to worry his friends with his terrible eyesight. With them always joking that he needed glasses.
But he was absolutely sure that what he just saw was real.
He saw it clear as day.
There was no way for her to hide it now.
Theo had just seen one of his best friends vanish in a stream of purple light.
He had to confront her, but he could absolutely not tell Lily.
Their best friend was a Power Ranger.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the Command Center, the Rangers arrived to see Alpha working at one of the computer consoles.
"Oh, thank goodness you're here," Alpha said. "AY-Yi-Yi, it's just terrible."
"What is it, Zordon?" Tommy asked. Jenna looked worried.
"I'm afraid we have a rather serious situation on our hands," Zordon explained. "Master Vile has summoned the darkest force in the universe and is preparing to unleash it on our planet."
"I don't get it. What force?" Aisha asked, confused.
"The Orb of Doom," Zordon explained. "It is a treacherous crystal. When placed at the proper longtitude and latitude it has the ability to stop the Earth's rotation and reverse time. If Master Vile is successful, the world as we know it could cease to exist."
"Well, if we know the exact location, Zordon, we can intercept Master Vile before he plants it," Billy said.
"It could be risky, but it is our only hope," Zordon told them. "Alpha is computing those coordinates for you now."
The very loud alarm that alerted them to Rita and Zedd's attacks went off.
"AY-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi!" Alpha exclaimed.
"I hate that alarm," Jenna shook her head.
"What's going on?" Tommy asked.
"Rito has materialized near the north end of Angel Grove, and he's brought the Orb of Doom!" Alpha explained, frantically.
"We'd better get going then," Adam said.
"Remember Rangers, once the orb is secured it cannot be removed," Zordon explained. "Billy, your coordinates are printing out now."
"We just need to stop him before that Orb touches the ground," Jenna sighed.
The Rangers all turned as a piece of paper came out of the computer nearest to Billy, who then pulled it out.
"Good luck, and may the power protect you," Zordon said.
"Guys, we'd better hurry," Billy said, turning to the others.
"No time to waste," Jenna spoke up.
"Let's not take any chances guys," Tommy advised. "It's morphin time!"
"White Ranger power!" Tommy called.
"Black Ranger power!" Adam yelled.
"Pink Ranger power!" Katherine screamed.
"Blue Ranger power!" Billy shouted.
"Yellow Ranger power!" Aisha called.
"Red Ranger power!" Rocky yelled.
"Allosaurus!" Jenna shouted, her morphing sequence different than the others. And then they teleported to the coordinates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They arrived on a small hill behind Rito out in the middle of nowhere.
"We'll take that orb, Rito!" Tommy said.
Rito turned to them all.
"Huh? Hey! Who invited you?" he demanded.
"You can't win! Give it up!" Tommy advised, as they got ready to fight.
"You know, you guys are getting on my nerves," Rito admitted.
"Good! Give us the orb and we'll leave," Tommy told him.
"Whatever your game is, you're gonna lose," Rocky said, pointing at him.
"Really? Then maybe you should play a little 'pin the tail on the Tenga'?" Rito suggested, as Tengas started to surround him.
"Here come the featherheads," Rocky said.
"Great! Just what we need," Aisha moaned, as more Tengas appeared behind them. "What?"
"Good thing I'm good at this game," Jenna shrugged, getting in a fighting position.
"I hate to tell you this guys, but we're surrounded," Aisha said.
"Wonderful observation, Aisha," Jenna spoke, turning to the girl.
"Let's head for the carnival!" One Tenga suggested. And Jenna groaned.
"Ugh, I hate when they talk," She rolled her eyes.
A group of Tengas ran off to the carnival.
"Oh, no. We gotta stop them," Billy said.
"We've got to protect all those people," Adam realized.
"Right. Let's split up," Aisha suggested. She, Adam and Billy all ran off to the carnival.
"Have fun," Jenna said, turning back to Rito.
"Be careful, guys," Rocky advised.
He, Tommy, Jenna and Kat all got ready to fight Rito and the Tengas in front of them.
"Are you guys through?" Rito asked. "I ain't got all day you know."
"Neither do we," Jenna rolled her eyes. "We've got more important places to be than with you, bonehead." She narrowed her eyes.
Goldar then showed up out of nowhere.
"Hold everything!" he ordered. "I saw all the fun you were having and I thought I'd join in." He explained as Rito chuckled.
"Wow, lucky us," Jenna commented.
"Alright, enough fooling around. Hand over the orb?!" Tommy demanded, holding his hand out.
"We're not gonna let you do this!" Kat shouted.
"Oh! Big words for someone in pink tights!" Rito mocked. "I'm gonna put this right where it belongs, and you can't stop me!"
"Want to bet?" Rocky joked. "Just watch!"
"Let's go!" Jenna cheered, charging to the Tengas with the rest of the Rangers. As Jenna, Tommy and Kat fought the Tengas, Rocky went after Rito.
Jenna had some fun fighting the Tengas. She used her newfound powers to beat down their beaks and wings. She took out her blaster and blasted every Tenga that came near her, knocking them down. Then she took out a silver Yari, with a purple tip.
"Looks cool and sharp," Jenna observed. "I can work with this." She added, running towards a Tenga, slashing down it's front, knocking it down.
She swung it around, hitting Tengas on the head. She used it to trip one that came towards her. Then they lifted into the air, apparently able to fly. So she stuck it up into the air, and stabbed its foot, and tried bringing it down. She went to another one and swatted its back.
"No! Stop!" Jenna heard Tommy shout. "Let me go!" Jenna's eyes widened as Rito moved to put the Orb of Doom in place.
"Don't!" Katherine yelled, being held back by Tengas herself.
"Oh no," Jenna muttered, running after Rito. But she was stopped by the Tengas in the air. They grabbed her with the talons on their feet. She was yanked up into the air. She screamed.
"Rito, no!" Rocky yelled, trying to grab Rito, before he too was subdued by Tengas.
Rito started to lower the Orb onto the ground.
"No!" Jenna screamed, struggling in the Tengas grip. "Don't do that!" Jenna screamed, her voice was scratchy from the way she screamed, but she continued to scream and thrash around. Her eyes started to flicker to a glowing purple. In and out. Blue and Purple.
"I can help, Jenna, just let me out," Her dark voice whispered throughout her mind.
"No!" Jenna screamed, her eyes returning to full blue.
Rito planted the orb on the ground, and then blue beams came out of it.
"Oh, I love this," he spoke, as Rocky fought past the Tengas he was fighting.
Lightning then appeared in the sky.
"You mean that's it!" Rito complained, feeling it was boring. Jenna was still in the air, but then she and a Tenga were struck with lightning, and she fell to the ground, unmorphed. She gasped for air after it was knocked out of her from the fall. She could feel the ground shaking beneath her, but ignored it.
"Oh, man! We gotta do something to stop this," Rocky spoke, as the shaking stopped. Katherine rushed over to Jenna, helping her up.
"You ok?" Kat asked.
"I'm fine, just winded," Jenna told her.
"Oh, man, it's too late," Tommy pointed out.
"Zordon said that after the Orb is put down, we can't take it out," Jenna reminded, shaking her head at the sight.
"You know what they say: timing is everything," Rito said, and they turned to him, before he saluted. "See ya!" He disappeared.
"Rito, come back!" Tommy demanded. "I'm not giving up!"
"We can't give up!" Jenna shouted.
Tommy ran towards the Orb of Doom, but it then fired purple lighting at him, hitting him in the chest before he could get there. The lighting kept hitting him, until it knocked him back on the ground near Kat, Rocky and Jenna's feet.
"No, Tommy!" Kat cried, going to help him up. Jenna reached down to help pull him up.
They and Rocky helped Tommy to his knees.
"Tommy, are you alright?" Katherine asked.
"Yeah, think so," Tommy replied. "What do we do now?"
"One thing's for sure, we can't get near it," Rocky pointed out.
"Tommy just showed us that," Jenna shook her head.
"Yeah. Let's hope the others had better luck," Tommy said, as they got to their feet. "Let's get back to the carnival."
They all ran towards the carnival to find the others.
"Yeah, let's hurry," Kat said.
--------------------------------------------
The Rangers, all together and unmorphed, made their way through the crowd, all watching the lightning filled sky.
"We can't just let this happen," Aisha said. "We've gotta do something."
"What can we do, Rito put the Orb on the ground, there's no way to remove it," Jenna reminded.
"Maybe we should call the Command Center?" Kat suggested.
"No, we can't leave everyone here," Tommy argued.
"Jenna," Said girl turned around to see Theo, her friend, making her worry.
"Theo? Where's Lily, stay together with her and near your parents-" Jenna began, but was cut off by Theo.
"I know what you've been hiding," Theo stopped her.
"What?" Jenna's eyes widened and her jaw dropped.
"I saw you and your friends teleport away," Theo explained.
"I think you were just seeing things, you should really get some glasses-" Jenna started.
"I know you're a Power Ranger, Jenna, stop lying, we're friends," Theo told her.
"I-" Jenna stuttered. "I'll tell you everything, I promise, but please, go to your mom and Lily, please." Jenna begged, and Theo looked skeptical, but nodded and ran off.
Everything slowed down and Jenna looked around as time seemed to stop. But then something even weirder than that happened.
Everyone around Jenna turned into kids and young adults. She turned to the Rangers and they were children, but still older than her. The looked around 12, which meant that 4 years were taken away.
"What?" Tommy wondered.
"Oh, my gosh," Kat breathed, confused.
"Zordon was right, you guys," Tommy realized.
"What do we do now?" Kat asked.
"You guys," Jenna whispered, and the kid Rangers turned to her and gasped.
Jenna hadn't changed at all.
"You didn't get younger?" Billy questioned. Jenna looked around, and she saw someone familiar, like an older Lily, holding a baby. Then it hit her, that was Lily's mother. And the baby must be... Lily herself. She should've been a baby.
They all looked at themselves, while Kat touched her face. Tommy then touched his ponytail, as Rocky looked at himself and Aisha touched her face. Kids all over the carnival then ran off screaming.
"You guys are still older than me," Jenna pouted.
"Oh, no. Guys, look!" Tommy said, pointing to a hill.
Kids kept on running away scared, when Rita, Lord Zedd, Rito and Goldar all appeared on the hill - laughing wildly. Soon, every kid had ran off.
The Rangers were all looked up at them, scared that they didn't know what to do. All except Jenna. She stared up at the hill with a look of anger in her eyes.
"Billy, can we still morph?" Rocky asked hopefully.
"There's only one way to find out," Billy replied.
"You're right." Tommy agreed. "It's morphin time!"
He didn't feel his Power Morpher appear in his hands.
"Oh, no! We can't morph!" he exclaimed.
"What are we gonna do?" Adam asked.
"How does Jenna morph then?" Aisha asked.
"I didn't change, I was young to begin with," Jenna explained. "Besides, Rita used magic to create my morpher, she made it for me, specifically." She added.
Her eyes widened as Lord Zedd, Rita, Rito and Goldar all grew to the size of skyscrapers.
They stomped around in their giant state.
"Hello, kiddies!" Lord Zedd said. "Ready to play a little game?"
All the little kids,a nd young parents ran off, leaving the Rangers as the youngest there.
"I can't believe this is happening," Kat frowned.
"It appears as if we've finally been defeated," Billy deduced.
"You guys, we can't give up," Tommy said.
"Tommy, I'm scared," Aisha told him.
"I'm really scared," Tommy admitted. Jenna looked at all of them with disappointment.
Billy had tears gathering in his eyes, while everyone else looked worried, and then Kat began to cry, not knowing what to do in their present state.
Jenna shook her head and sighed. She was younger than them and fought everyday, and she wouldn't give up just because they were.
They may be older, but Jenna was going to have to teach them a lesson.
Jenna would save them.
