Chapter One

"Come here, my sex queen, and give me some well deserved sugar." The voice was ragged and slightly masculine despite how squeaky it was. I ignored it, looking at my nails as Ricktus spoke to the mundane woman we needed to deal with. She was dressed in a robe she had tied tightly around her waist as she gestured frantically towards me and the cage that contained the twelve inch troublemaker. "Don't be an ice queen, my Asian princess." That was all I wanted for my night, to be hit on by a fucking randy fairy that was caught by a mundane peeping into her bathroom window... while naked. His cock and balls displayed in their full glory.

I was tempted to give the mundane a full brain bleaching to remove the incident from her mind. I know I wanted one after watching Ricktus chase after him to catch the little fucker. I had been half tempted to pat his head and say good boy when he finally managed it. "Drop fido and get with a real male! My wings will do things to you that his tail never could." At the squeaky attempt at smooth talking I had to bite back a grin as Ricktus' shoulders stiffened, his jaw muscles ticking.

"Be quiet you little rat." Ricktus growled it out as he looked over his shoulder, glowering at the bird cage we had stuffed the little winged beast into.

The fairy shook the bars of the cage, making it rattle. "Fight me for her, mutt! After I mop the floor with your face, I'll take her back to my place and rough her up so good she won't ever want to leave!" The gross little pot bellied fairy had the audacity to wink at me and lick his lips.

I repressed a shudder of disgust despite the amusement I felt. "Where is that? A dollhouse in a little girl's room?" I couldn't help myself as I smirked, crossing my arms over my chest

"So my sex goddess does speak!" The fairy turned in his cage, shoving his junk through the bars and flopping it in my direction. "Come here and let me tug on your hair while you tug on this." I stared pointedly at Ricktus' back, fighting off the laughter that was rising up in my throat.

The mundane woman looked horrified, her eyes on the slightly blue tinged creature with purple wings that was thrusting against the bars with tiny grunts in an attempt to catch my attention. "What is it doing?" She pointed at him as she held her robe tighter around herself, her wet hair hanging around her horrified face as she watched the little beast make an utter spectacle of himself. Not that she hadn't seen that before because I could only imagine what he had done to her poor window before we got here. I could just imagine there were tiny, sweaty cock and ball prints all over the glass.

Ricktus shifted so he was blocking her view of the raunchy fairy. "Being a pervert. Ignore him." That was easier said than done. I could feel the little beast swiping his hand through the bars, his finger tips brushing my pant leg in an attempt to grab at me. The little bastards didn't know when to quit.

"Its has wings and its fucking blue." Her voice rose in pitch and Ricktus tensed at the tone she took. She was getting too loud and that meant more attention. We were pretty isolated in her fenced off back yard but that didn't mean other mundanes wouldn't come to see what the hell she was shouting about.

"Don't raise your voice." I kicked the cage with the side of my foot as the little shit managed to get his tiny paw on my pants. He let out a little screech of surprise at the action, letting go as the force of the kick sent him sprawling across the other side of the cage. "It just makes him worse." Fairies were tenacious little buggers once they got into their mating season. Nothing would turn them off short of removing their bits and pieces but even then I had a feeling they would enjoy every moment of the process. Disgusting little things.

The cage rattled once more and I rolled my eyes. He recovered fast. "My Asian sex queen, your voice is like sweet caramel! I just want to rub it all over my body." I glanced at him and he once again had his junk shoved through the bars of the cage but this time he was also rubbing his nipples in my direction. "Just speak over me and I can rub your sweat into my skin." He let out a heavy groan and I made a choking sound as I tried to keep the laughter in but failed.

"Officer Enomoto, restrain yourself." Ricktus' tone was sharp and I coughed loudly, trying to keep the choked laughter from escaping. Screws and Tarte would just love the visual I would paint them later. In fact most of the girls would appreciate this little excursion. I didn't much care for my Hunter work but some times it was fucking hilarious.

"Let her come over here and I'll restrain her! I love restraint play during a good fucking, gimme those handcuffs and we can really party!" The fairy rapidly and rather aggressively pelvic thrust into the bars while making lewd groaning sounds of enjoyment. The little bangs and groans were difficult to ignore and I bit my lip hard to keep from laughing.

"Officer Enomoto, please take over for me here." The shifter's voice was tight with agitation and I shifted from my spot, moving towards the mundane woman. Despite how much I wanted to laugh I did have to be serious. I needed to alter her memories of this incident so she wouldn't be left deemed crazy or expose the supe world to unneeded scrutiny.

"Gladly." I passed Ricktus and a faint growl rumbled his chest as he stalked towards the bird cage and the moaning fairy humping the bars, his little erect penis flapping in the slightly cool night air. The woman was staring at the little fairy's display in rapt horror. I gestured back towards him. "Like watching a train wreck, you just can't look away." She looked at me slowly, her eyes wide and her face slightly pale. She looked to be in a daze and I didn't blame her, most mundanes looked like that after encountering one of the supes.

"Oi! Budge off yah fookin, prick!" At the swift change in tone and accent I looked over my shoulder. Ricktus had picked up the cage, glaring through the bars at the pot bellied fairy, who glared right back at him. "I ain't wantin' to see yah! Bring me back deh pretty girls an' not yer ugly mug, yah fooking Hoonter prick!" He spat a gob of yellowish green mucus towards Ricktus and I cringed as it landed on his bullet proof vest. My partner stiffened at that and gave the cage a good hard shake as he carried it out of the back yard, the fairy screaming profanities the entire way.

"Its... its Irish?" The mundane woman blinked at me repeatedly in utter confusion and I shrugged.

"Its... something." I had no clue what they were other than disgusting little cretins, despite how unintentionally amusing they were. I reached into the side part of my belt, pulling out a white card. I lifted it up and placed it in front of the mundane woman, letting it float in the air. She was looking to where Ricktus and the fairy had been but when I snapped my fingers she focused on me, well rather the card. Her gaze would be hopelessly drawn to it. "What is your name?" I watched as she stared at the card, her mouth opening slightly.

"Brianna." At the response I nodded before reaching up and tapping on edge of the card, making it spin around and around. I could feel the magic pulsating in the air as the shadows darkened around us. It was warm, comforting.

"Alright, Brianna, you had quite the crazy night, didn't you?" I pulled out an ink brush and flicked my wrist, removing the seal I had on it, letting the ink saturate the bristles. She made a faint sound of acknowledgement as she went glassy eyed as she continued to stare at the card. It was growing slightly brighter and it illuminated her face. I drew a quick combination of symbols on the palm of my hand that dealt with memory altering before I stuck it up between her and the card. Her gaze immediately snapped to it and her entire body went tense as her mouth closed with a snap. Her eyes slowly swirled to a milky white, letting me know I could begin. "That was an interesting time, having a parrot fly into your window and start throwing profanities at you." I could feel the magic flow through me and to her. I could feel it altering the memories to what I was saying. Memory magic was easy, natural for me to do.

"It was pretty funny watching my partner chase after the parrot as it cursed at him." I watched as her mouth curved up into a faint smile as her memories shifted inside her head. "He tripped quite a few times and cursed while he tried to catch it. The parrot seemed almost smarter than him." I always liked making Ricktus seem like a bumbling idiot when it came to my memory altering. It amused me and the fact it was just petty revenge for his bullshit in dealing with him was just a bonus. "But we caught it and it made quite the noise in the cage, flapping its wings and all that. Pretty funny to watch such a big guy chase after the parrot, right Brianna?" She gave a slow nod and I narrowed my eyes, the dark magic flowing through me letting me know the altering wasn't entirely complete.

"What colour was the parrot, Brianna?" The use of her name solidified the connection to her, made her more susceptible to the magic, to being brought to the state she was currently in.

"Blue... with purple wings." Her voice was almost hollow and I frowned slightly, sending a bit more magic to her, letting it flow through me a bit faster.

"No, Brianna, the parrot was grey with red under feathers to its wings." The two colours swirled in the milky white of her eyes and the shadows around us thickened. I could almost feel them against my skin. It felt like home for me and I wanted to sink into their embrace but I knew I had more work to do.

"What did the parrot sound like?" Each correction was important, the details could make or break the altering and I had to make sure that the main details were in place, the others I would make hazy.

"A squeaky man." She tilted her head, her mouth drooping slightly. I wrinkled my nose. If I took too long she would start drooling. The fun side effect of being under mental stasis.

"No, it sounded like a squawky parrot." The grey and red swirled faster in the milky white and the faint sound of a parrot squawking sounded around us in the shadows. "The memory is kind of hazy for you though. You tripped and hit your head on the door jamb on your way into the house after we left. Not enough to cause harm but enough to hurt." Her eyes turned completely milk white and the magic settled within me. I lowered my hand and grabbed my large flashlight, her eyes faded to their normal blue with the connection broken.

I turned on the flashlight and held it behind the spinning card that was glowing bright white. I yanked the card away with my other hand, tucking it away as the mundane woman immediately shielded her eyes from the beam of my flashlight. "Sorry about that, ma'am." I turned off the flashlight and once again hung it on my belt.

She blinked a few times before looking at me. "Where is the parrot?" She looked around in confusion, more than likely searching for the cage and Ricktus. Memory altering always left people feeling highly unbalanced and needing confirmation of their new memories.

"My partner took the nasty little thing to the car. We will take it to station and look for its owner." I tapped my fingers against the replica gun on my hip. Always for show our uniforms were. We didn't use mundane ways of capturing criminals and strays. We just had to look like we were fitting in.

"That's good. It gave me quite the fright with how it banged against my window." She gave me a wide smile as she brushed her hair back from her face. "Thank you for coming out and getting it." Her face flushed slightly at that and I shook my head.

"Its no problem, ma'am, its what we do." I backed up a few steps, giving her a faint wave as I did so. "Now I better get this report to the station. If you have anymore parrots flying around, give us a call." She nodded giving me a friendly wave before I turned around. I walked around the side of the house before I stopped. Within a few seconds I could hear a bang and her yelp in pain as she tripped and smacked her head. She let out a string of curses and I slipped out the back yard with a faint smile.

Ricktus was waiting for me, a dark sheet covering the cage. Not a sound could be heard underneath it and I smirked at his choice in the sound smothering witching cloak. "Disgusting thing." He spat on the ground, the air slightly vibrating with his silent growls.

I jerked my head towards the covered cage. "How did he escape containment?" Fairies were kept on a different dimensional plane that overlapped this one. We couldn't have them running around like vamps or shifters. They were just too different. Not to mention their mating season lasted several weeks and the males tried to fuck everything they could while the females grew sullen and cranky and fought each other constantly. It was weird for me to know the maring rituals of such a disgusting creature. I repressed a shudder at that.

Ricktus shrugged before running a hand through his hair. "I don't know. Elder Ward is checking the containment field for breaks right now." He let out a frustrated sound as he lifted the fairy's cage. "Can we go? I'm tempted to drown this flying rat." He gave the cage another rough shake but it was silent, all sounds being absorbed by the cloth. I could only imagine what was noises were occurring underneath the cover.

I gestured to the house. "She's fine, all bases are covered." I raised an eyebrow as I watched Ricktus grind his teeth together. "Did the little rat disparage your manhood? Upset that his might be bigger than yours?" I smirked and the large shifter gave me a half feral look and spun around, stalking towards the closest dark alley. I followed after him slowly. He could be pissy all he wanted but it had been my day off and he had ruined it. It didn't matter that I gotten a hilarious story out of it. The fact remained that I had been called in on my day off.

I followed him into the alley and he was already half way through it. I gave a slow jog, trying to keep the distance between us small. I might have liked the shadows but I didn't like mundane cities after dark. Mundanes were... well, they were fucking dangerously scary when they wanted to be. I mean I was technically a mundane but I had a foot in the supe world, I was of both. Witches were expected to be weird but dangerous because of our powers, a mundane was not. They were supposed to be weak. However there was a reason we wore the bullet proof vests. Being a supe didn't stop a bullet from shredding your insides.

I followed Ricktus out onto the street, giving a faster jog to catch up to him. The hair on the back of my neck was standing up being so far from him this late at night. No matter how much I derided him, he was good deterrent. He was over six feet tall and built like a line backer. No one wanted to fuck with me while on duty with him. I liked it that way. No matter how gifted I was in memory magic, I lacked in the other departments. I could barely cast a mage light and that was one of the easiest spells you could master.

I let out a sigh, there was no reason to dwell on it, I did flawless memory magic. That was all that mattered to the coven and to my pocket book. I headed down another dark alley behind Ricktus. I trailed my eyes over his form. We really did dress up like standard mundane police. It was really eerie how many police that I had seen as a mundane that had actually been supes. It was the scent of flowers, like a heavy perfume, a flash of teeth in a way that was not a smile, and dark eyes and pale skin that dared you to agree to a dance between the sheets. The amount of supes that simply walked the streets was mind boggling to me.

The Hunters did their job well. No one knew the supes existed despite the fact they would walk by them numerous times throughout their lives. They lived in the land of myth and legend and through some trickery and illusion they believed they were completely alone as a dominant species. I looked up from looking at the cracks in the sidewalk as a chill ran down my spine. We had entered another dark alley but I couldn't see Ricktus ahead of me.

My heart lurched in my chest. "Ricktus." I looked around, taking several steps into the darkness. I was nearly defenceless and I felt incredibly wary. The feeling of the hairs on the back of my neck rising happened once more. "Ricktus!" I hissed his name out and started to jog through the alley. It seemed almost too dark, as if something were happening that shouldn't. I looked warily over my shoulder but couldn't see anything.

I swallowed hard as I looked ahead once more for Ricktus but the darkness seemed to grow thicker. Nothing was comforting about those shadows and I shifted my feet, lifting my clean palm and hissing a spell. A weak mage light flickered above my palm but that didn't even seem to be enough to cut through the dark. It was strange to be a witch and be apprehensive about the dark as that was where our magic came from but there was something else that lingered in the shadows, something that spoke of something terribly sinister.

I didn't know what it was but I always knew it lingered at the edges, waiting for the perfect time to strike. I reached up for my radio on my shoulder. Thankfully I knew that worked. Before I could grab it there was a thump in front of me and something tore at the shoulder with the radio. The force of it was enough to send me stumbling back several steps. My mage light flickered out and when it flickered back on for a brief moment all I could see was a dark mass in front of me. The light was a weak glow as it flickered. My heart jumped into my throat as the mass seemed to grow, something standing tall in front of me.

The light flickered again and I caught sight of my radio in its hand, its wires cut and dangling. There was a crunch as the hand holding it tightened. Bits of plastic and circuit board dropped from the large hand and my mouth went dry. A faint rumbling let me know it was a shifter and I swallowed hard, trying hard to remember the rules.

Number one. Don't run.

The reminder came too late because as its large mass jumped for me, my mundane instincts kicked in and I bolted.

I dodged its jump and headed straight for the other end of the alley before it could swipe at me. My heart beat hard in my chest as I pumped my arms. I could hear the shifter behind me and my throat squeezed. "Ric-" The cry was sharp and loud as it started and I had a large hand clamped over my nose and mouth, cutting it off. Another arm wrapped around my waist and I was lifted up. I struggled as the hand on my face cut off my ability to breath.

The darkness swirled around us. The sinister feeling in it growing. Something was wrong and I didn't like it at all but no matter how much I struggled I couldn't get free or break the hold that was suffocating me. My lungs screamed for air that I couldn't get at and my struggling lessened until all I could see and feel was the sinister blackness that seemed to mock me as I went unconcious.
