I'm Not A Pet!
Suri moves in her sleep. She groans and tussles in her sheets. Why isn't her bed as comfortable as usual? Wait, she should get up and start working on that paper. Great now because she fell asleep early she'll have to work all day on that paper.
Hold on, how did she fall asleep again.
All from what happened last night comes back to memory. Suri's eyes snap open and she instantly gets up panting. Her eyes widen at the scene around her.
It was a blinding, white room with orange decorations and furniture. She feels herself begin to panic and shake. She was kidnapped from her balcony. Suri looks down at herself and finds she's on a plush pillow with a blanket. She buries her head into her knees while clutching it. She shouldn't have been yelling so loud! Maybe then she wouldn't be in a kidnap situation right now! Suri looks around herself again and at the area. She slowly tries to stand up and calm her nerves. Maybe she could find an exit somewhere around her and escape. People say it's better to cooperate with kidnappers, but right now she just wants to get back home!
Suri frowns as she finds there's no door in the room. Did her kidnapper get her in through a window? She turns and finds a huge window in the shape of an oval on one wall. Her body freezes as she looks out of it. No, it couldn't be. The window is probably just a picture!
I-It couldn't be space!
She slowly moves towards it and gets in front of the supposed window. Suri brings a hand up and knocks on it. A clunk resonates from it, not helping her nerves at all. It just can't be space! She's obviously just dreaming right now! A scream then comes out from her as she sees a three small shuttle come out of nowhere and shake the room a bit.
No, she's really in space.
Suri screams again at the realization.
The sound of a door sliding and buttons beeping come from behind her. A person steps in frantically.
“GiGi! Are you alright?”
Her head snaps back to the person who just entered the room. There was a male standing there with a panicked expression on his face. Her eyes travel up and down him. GiGi? Wait, didn't her kidnapper say that before she got knocked out? Is he her kidnapper?! She was expecting some old or creepy looking man to come out. But, not someone that looks average! Well, averge isn't really the term to totally describe him. He had orange hair and hazel eyes, for some reason only his right ear adorned many piercings.
That still didn't make Suri feel any better though!
She immediately backs up when the male runs up towards her. Suri falls to the ground and begins to cry and shake.
“G-Get away from me!” She yells out.
He flinches at her loud voice. Why is she crying? Is his pet hungry already? O-Or maybe she's a pet that needs a person there for her all the time. Dammit! It hasn't been a day and his pet is already having a mental breakdown! Kent tries to put on a calming smile and slowly begins to walk up to her.
“Come on, c-calm down. No one is going to hurt you.” He says with a soft voice, hoping it would calm her down.
Suri looks up at him still having tears in her eyes.
“What do you want?”
A smile comes on his face as he gets a little closer.
“That's right, I'm not a bad owner! I always treat pets nicely.”
Pet? Did he just call her a pet? And he didn't answer her question either!
Suri's eyes widen as she realizes how close he is getting towards her. She ducks her head back into her legs before screaming again.
“Don't get close to me!”
Instead he does the opposite and puts his arms around Suri bringing her in close. She immediately reacts by thrashing and trying to pull herself away from him.
“Stop it!”
Kent flinches and closes one of his eyes as she continues to move in his arms. He cuddled her to try to calm her down, but it only made the situation worse. He thought cooing and petting always work with pets, why isn't it working now?
“H-Hey, GiGi.” He stutters out.
“My name isn't GiGi!” Suri yells.
She then turns and bits his hand. Kent yelps and immediately recoils from her and clutches his hand. Why did his pet bite him?! He was trying to comfort her! Why is taking care of something so hard.
He should of just got a pet rock.
From behind him he hears sobbing. Kent slowly turns around to see that she's now crying on the ground.
“I-I want to go home. P-Please.” She says between sobs.
Kent's eyes furrow but also sadden. What is she saying? It would have been much better if he got a pet that he could understand. Also, his pet's in distress. Kent feels a small part of him break. He didn't want to make the pet cry. He wanted to have fun with it and show everyone how he is responsible. Kent was actually excited, even though his other pets had tragic endings he remembered all the fun moments he had with them. He is going to show the others how he could handle responsibility, but he wanted another buddy to be with him on the ship.
Kent bits his lip and stands up. He backs away from his still crying pet and starts to exit the room. He really doesn't know what to do in situations like this. Kent decides it would be better to come back a little later when she has calmed down, and so he could think about what to do to not make her cry.
Right as he walks out of his room Kent comes face-to-face with Piers who had a hard glare. Kent immediately slams back on the door in shock.
“D-Dammit, Piers! Don't suddenly appear like that!”
Piers glare only hardens at Kent.
“What was that? There were cries coming from your room.” He demands.
Kent curses to himself. He doesn't want the others to know he has a pet yet. Especially since it's having a mental breakdown on him right now. They'll definitely make fun of him. But, this is Piers. He'll tell the captain of the ship that he heard sounds coming from his room. Kent rubs his hand across his face in frustration.
“I-It was a pet I got.” He whispers out.
Piers raises an eyebrow. His expression soon changes to shock as the words process through.
“You actually got a pet?” He hisses out.
Kent flinches at the voice. Great, here comes the lecture.
~*~*~*~*~
“You didn't have to get everyone else out!” Kent yells.
He pulls his hair seeing most of his coworkers in the room. Stellen, Piers, and Birch were there of course. But, the good thing is this time he had his friend Barres was in the room too. Barres is probably one of the only persons on the ship that don't think of him as a lazy, irresponsible worker.
Well, Kent knows he probably does think of him as that. But at least Barres doesn't voice it all the time like the others!
“Piers, why did you have to call them out?” Kent moans while rubbing his face.
Piers sends him a glare.
“We all occupy this ship and live in it. Your new 'pet' was causing noise and it hasn't even been a day.”
This time it was Birch who spoke with a raised eyebrow.
“You actually got a pet?” He snorts. “May God have mercy on its soul.”
“S-Shut up! I'm doing a damn good job! It's just that I don't know what to do in this single situation.”
Birch hums not believing Kent's words. He folds his arms and looks down at the bag next to Kent with curiosity.
“What's that?”
Kent blinks and looks down next to at the bag. He picks it up and shrugs.
“Don't know, my pet had it with her when I brought her on the ship. I thought it maybe carried food.” He shook the bag. “But, it looks like there's other things in it.”
Birch sticks out his hand to Kent, “Hand it to me.”
Kent throws the bag over and Birch catches it before rummaging through the bag. Kent would rather give his last kidney over than get help from Birch. But, he is apart of the science division and would probably find out more about his pet than Kent could ever know. Birch pulls out a few items, a black rectangular box, a cylinder tube, a few books, and even a mirror. Kent tilts his head at the items. He really thought there would be food, but it looks more like a toy bag. Birch takes out another bag inside and looks through it, he pulls out a piece of paper and furrows his eyes. Kent scouts over a little closer to take a look.
“What is it?”
“If I knew I would have told you, simpleton.”
See what kind of attitude he gets!
Birch throws the piece of paper towards Barres with indifference. “You know some human language, what does it say.”
Barres fumbles with his catch before taking a look at the paper. He skims his eyes through it before looking back up at the four.
“It says her name is Suri and that she is nineteen. It says other stuff like where she lives and even her birthday.”
All their eyes snap back to Kent making him freeze up. He looks at them with nervous eyes. What's with those accusing expressions? He hasn't even said anything yet! Pier's was the first to react by narrowing his eyes.
“Kent . . . You stole another person's pet?”
His face reddens in embarrassment at the accusation.
“N-No! I found her without an owner! Besides, even if she did have one she was all alone and looked depressed!” He says this all while getting on his feet.
“And now its in your room crying.” Piers states.
Birch lets out a loud laugh at Kent. “Not even a day and the pet wants to get away from you! I can't wait to see what happens in a week!”
“Poor Suri.” Stellen mumbles.
All of them turn to him with eyes widen. They all couldn't believe it. The stoic and emotionless Stellen . . . Spoke. Stellen still had his eyes to the floor, acting as if everything is still normal in the room. But, it isn't. Because he just broke probably two years of silence. Well, at least that's how long they have known him. The four turn away and act like they didn't just hear him speak.
Piers regains his composure and turns back to Kent with a glare.
“Stolen or not, it's causing a nuisance. Keep her quiet or else I'll tell the captain about this and remove the pet.”
Kent sends him a glare as Piers leaves the room. Stellen soon follows too, not giving any of them a second glance. Birch stands and adjusts his glasses, he turns around and sneers at Kent before leaving the room, mumbling about irritating coworkers. That left both Barres and Kent. Kent was still in a bad mood from their treatment. Of course the pet might have freaked out from moving! They can't just judge him after the first day!
Barres comes up to his friend and pats Kent on the back with a smile.
“Don't let them get to you. Hey, can I meet your pet?”
A bright grin breaks on Kent's face.
~*~*~*~*~
Suri continues to look out the supposed window. There's a large voice in her head screaming that this isn't space, but a smaller voice is whispering it is. Also, why doesn't her kidnapper respond to her? She can clearly know what he is saying, but he never says anything that has to do what she's saying. Suri lightly slaps her face with both hands, trying not to cry again. She looks up to where the orange haired kidnapper left. Maybe if she times it right she could run out of the room without him noticing. It was then that she heard the footsteps of people coming near the door. She could hear one of the voices coming from outside and realized it was her kidnapper.
Suri gets right in front of the door and waits for it to open. She is going to escape out of here! There is no way she is going to be a pet.
~*~*~*~*~
“She has this soft, brown hair on her head and big brown eyes to match! She's not tall, but too short either! Just the perfect pet for me!” Kent continues to explain to Barres about his new 'pet'.
Next to him his friend lets out a small chuckle. He was glad Kent has a companion, since they work and live on opposite sides of the spaceship there really isn't any time for the two to converse. He will admit that the others are pretty harsh on Kent.
The two reach Kent's room and Kent presses some buttons on the door. It slides open with ease. But, the problem was that a certain 'pet' races out of the room in that split second. Kent stays where he's standing with his finger still up where the buttons where. Barres looks to where the 'pet' had ran off to.
“Um, Kent. I think your pet just escaped.”
That was all what it took. Kent immediately turns around and runs to where Suri went off to.
“No~! Gigi! Come back it's dangerous!”
“Her name's Suri, Kent!”
“Suri~! Come back!”
Barres stands where he is and watches as Kent runs off for his pet. He could just tell the ship is going to be turned upside down because of Kent's new buddy.
He hopes she doesn't run into Piers . . .
