Chapter~9

Niall was beginning to worry about his best friend's boyfriend after another day had passed without any sign of him. It's a good thing he's being distracted by King Robin, the father knowing his son would only stress himself out if he keeps worrying on the whereabouts of Louis.

So, while Harry headed to his father's study to finish writing back letters sent from other kingdoms, the blonde servant boy peeks his head inside the room, making sure his curly haired friend is busy with the work he was assigned to do by the King, he quietly walks away and meets up with King Robin in the throne room.

"Is he occupied, Niall?"

"Sure is, your highness."

"Good," Robin nods, "that would give you at least an hour to go into the village and look for Louis."

"I'll make sure to come back as early as I can to not raise suspicion for Harry. I did tell him if he ever needed me I'll be right outside the door."

"I agree. You better get going now if you want to make it back early." The King tells and dismisses the blonde boy, Niall nodding shortly before walking out of the castle and into the village.

Where should I look first? He thought, his eyes scanning the whole area from where he stood, then smiles once he sees a familiar shop consisting of different types of instruments.

To Liam!
______

Louis' P.O.V

Ugh... I groan internally as I begin to wake up from my slumber.

What the fook happened?

Where am I?

I slowly open my eyes to adjust to the light in the room and gasp when a face I'm not familiar with pops up in front of me.

"Heyyy babe!" The girl smiles widely at me while I stare at her in confusion.

Who tf is this?

And why did she call me babe?

She giggles at my reaction and places a hand on my cheek, making me internally scream.

I don't know why but having a girl touch me makes me quite uncomfortable.

"You don't remember me, do you?"

"Uh...no?"

In fact, I can't remember anything at all...

"Awww it's okay, babe-"

"Why are you calling me 'babe'?" I cut her off.

"Cause I'm your girlfriend, silly." She says, playfully slapping my shoulder.

I have a girlfriend?

That doesn't seem right... But what do I know? I wouldn't remember.

"Really? Then can you please explain to me why I suddenly can't remember anything except for my name, age, and birthday?"

She looks at me for a few seconds before nodding her head, "sure, boo. I'll tell you all you need to know."
______

Niall's P.O.V

I exited the music shop after talking with Liam's manager, the older man saying he had a day off today. Hmm, I could always go to his and Louis' shared cottage but I haven't been there nor do I know where it is located.

Oh well, time to wing it.

I make my way through the sea of people in the farmer's market, hoping I could spot a familiar blue eyed lad in the crowd but to no success, I find no trace of him anywhere.

Where did he say he worked again?

My feet kept carrying me to wherever as I tried to remember where Louis worked.

The parlor? No.

The petting zoo? No, that's where Katy works.

The-

I was suddenly brought out of my thoughts when a body collides with mine and we both go crashing to the ground.

"Ow!"

"Crap I'm sorr- Niall?"

"Liam?" I lift my head up, and just as I guessed, it was the puppy eyed lad.

I smiled at him as we both spoke at the same time, "is Louis with you?"

My smile immediately fell, and so did his.

"He wasn't with you or Harry?"

"No, in fact, he hasn't visited in two days. Harry's getting worried and so am I."

Liam cursed under his breath before looking back at me, "well he wasn't home when I got back from work two days ago. I thought he went straight to the castle..."

This isn't good.

"Well, I was just about to head to Louis' working place but I didn't know where or what that is." I tell him.

"He works at the bakery his uncle James owns, c'mon, it's not that far from here."

So me and Liam began walking the short distance to the bakery, the smell of freshly baked pastries is the first thing that hits my nose.

"James?" Liam calls out the second we enter through the door.

A man with blonde hair who seemed to be in his early forties emerged from what I assume is the baking area with a smile on his face.

"Well if it isn't you, Liam," His eyes caught me, "And friend. What's your name, lad?"

"Niall." I answer. He nods then walks over to us, wiping his flour covered hands on his apron.

"What brings the two of you boys here? Needing a snack? Cause I-"

The puppy eyed lad beside me interrupts him in mid sentence.

"No, not that."

Niall wanted to argue but his hunger can wait.

"We're actually here to ask you about Louis. Have you seen him?"

A confused look appears on the older man's face, "did he not tell you he was going back to Wolfordton?"

"Say what?!" Liam and I exclaim in unison.

"Well, I'm not sure if he is there. All I'm saying is, two days ago, I told him he could go back to Wolforton to visit Jay and his sisters after he delivers someone's order of cupcakes. I don't know if he went straight to Wolfordton after or if he even delivered the order." James explained.

Something really seemed off...
______

After realizing how much time had passed I hurriedly bid James and Liam goodbye before making my way back to the castle.

King Robin was at the entrance doors the minute I arrived, a hopeful look on his face. But it fell as soon as I shook my head, indicating that I had no luck in finding his son's lover.

"It was worth a try," he sighs, "Go on up to my study then, lad, I'm sure Harry's almost done with the letters."

I nod and do as told, walking up the stairs, just in time to see my curly haired friend exit his father's study.

"Oh there you are, Ni." He says once seeing my presence.

"Hey, H. Already done?"

He only nods in response, covering his mouth to muffle a yawn.

I know he won't admit it, but he clearly didn't get much sleep last night. The visible bags under his eyes make it more obvious.

"Why not you go to your room and take a nap?" I suggest.

"Can't. Need to help dad with preparations for tomorrow."

"But Haz, you look exhausted..." I trail off, not knowing what else to say.

"Well it helps keep my mind off of Louis, okay?!" He suddenly yells, shocking me with his outburst. Harry never raises his voice...

"I-...just, let me be, Ni." His face showed regret and frustration as he walks past me, most likely headed to find his father and ask him for more work he could do to help (but really he just wants to occupy himself so he wouldn't think much of his missing boyfriend), leaving me standing in the hallway, staring at the spot where he stood a few seconds ago, worry being the only feeling I felt at the moment.

Harry needs him.

He needs his Louis.
