New artstyle, new design, and a new announcement??
It's been so long since I've posted anything new in this book, but I have good reason for finally doing it now.
So, I've been drawing a lot more recently (just little doodles, but they're still cute, I think!) and sort-of-redesigning some old characters, making new ones, etc. I've been focusing a lot on their visuals and trying to get more into the character and hoping that translates into the design, if that makes sense.
My OC Celia has been around since around 2020, and she hasn't stopped evolving since then. I'm super proud of how far she's come (even though I do look back on some old art and have ... mixed feelings about it) and I'd like to share her new design!! Then after that, we have a small announcement/question thing? It'll make sense later.
New design:
And just a little doodle!
There's sort of a long list of things, so feel free to skip some of it if you'd like!
I've recently been getting back into the emo/scene ... well, scene. I've been listening to the music, researching it, looking at the fashion, etc., and I feel that's affected her design a fair bit.
Celia falls more into the "scemo" category (a blend of emo and scene) while her girlfriend Linh (who isn't pictured here, but may be in future!) is more "scene". I love both of the fashions so much, and I tried to incorporate elements of emo fashion into her design.
She's no longer a Gravity Falls OC (at least primarily), but is still some kind of demon-ghost-thing. She hides one of her eyes as part of her story as well as her fashion, so that blends nicely. She also has raccoon-tail black dye added to her bangs, which was more of a thing in scene fashion, but I felt it fit better than blonde-with-black-streaks. Her hair still fluffs out at the ends, because she probably got sick of straightening all of it.
She has a million piercings, tall Doc Martens and stripy socks and arm warmers. The design on her top is supposed to be a rib cage; and the song at the top is obviously Helena by MCR. It would have been terrible to pick anything else (though I was a little tempted to add the new FOB version of "We Didn't Start The Fire", because it's just so good!)
She has a similar personality to how she always used to, still short-tempered and a little closed-off, but no wonder — if I had to straighten all her hair and do her makeup every day (as well as getting barked at by 12-year-olds, based on true events), I'd be a little annoyed too.
The announcement part of this is more of a question than an announcement, but still:
Should I make a new art book? I will keep this up for nostalgia's sake, but with the holidays starting, I will hopefully post a lot more and so kind of want to start a new book. Also, I don't want people to be put off by my ... interesting-looking old art.
I may also start posting art on Tumblr, but we'll see how that goes. Please comment your thoughts, and thank you for reading!!
Have an amazing day everyone!!
