Chapter 22: Here comes trouble #2

Your eyes went wide in shock as you jolted up from your bed. Fingers hurriedly scrolling through the missed calls and then the unread text messages stored in your phone.

They were from your parents, really unexpected to see in the morning when you only was checking your phone to see if nct had posted anything in their social medias regarding their new comeback.

A hand slapped the side of your head when you read the last message from your mom, which was somewhat like-

"Why aren't you picking up your calls honey? We've been trying since last night. Anyway, we're about to reach seoul airport it'll take another hour or two. We're bringing a lot of gifts from hawaii so look forward!"

There was a bunch of emojis too as if it wasn't your mom but some American preteen, let's just disregard that there.

So your parents were coming to see you. Okay. But, there was a grown man with the D in your house, you suddenly recalled. Shit!

You jumped from your bed leaving it messy with your blanket piled up in a side. You rushed out of your bedroom in your trousers with your bed hair, looking like the utter disaster you already were.

Entering the living room you were welcomed with a loud 'woof!' You jumped another step backward, then you noticed the dark brown fur ball wagging its tail, looking up at you admirably.

"I borrowed Tannie for an hour. Jungkook even bought food for him." Taehyung came in your sight with a huge grin on his face, a bowl in his hands that was filled with bone shaped cookies and he placed it before the dog who looked even happier now.

"Tannie! Eat!" Taehyung commanded and the dog, Yeontan let out another woof as if he understood.

"Tae..."

"Don't worry Sarang," Taehyung chimed before you could finish. "I talked to the neighbours and they said they wouldn't mind my son's barks for an hour."

"Wait." You messaged the bridge of your noise, another hand on your waist. "You know the neighbours? I don't even know myself who lives next door."

"A grandma lives alone in the apartment to the right." Taehyung again showed his mesmerizing smile as he rubbed the back of Yeontan who was enjoying his food.

"I once helped her with shopping. She often gives me fruits she buys from market. And to the left lives a small family. Their child Minjae is adorable." Taehyung laughed by himself. "She's six and she calls me oppa. It's really cute."

"Gosh, you're really social." You couldn't help but remark looking at the boy crouched down on the floor.

But then your mind went back to what was more important, panic instantly rose. The three brain cells you had were running around inside your head already, bumping with each other and screaming their heads off in the process.

"Tae, we are screwed..." You could only say wryly when you looked around your place. It had become a disaster, just like you.

Taehyung's clothes were everywhere, lying on the chair, on the couch. His boxers on the floor. His headband on top of the freeze, how did that even get there.

Most importantly his traces were everywhere. It would take hours to clean up, but before that you would have to hide the grown boy; your throat went drier.

"What's wrong Sarang?" You heard him say and then you saw him, standing with Yeontan in his arms, looking at you worriedly.

"We don't have much time." You tried to sound as calm as possible. "My parents are coming and you have to hide. Maybe you should go over to Jimin's place for now."

"Why?" Taehyung's perfectly shaped eyebrows were furrowed, he truly didn't have a clue.

"Because I-" you placed a hand on your chest dramatically. "Am a single woman, that's what my parents know. If they find out there's a grown man in my place you can say that'd be the end of world. Sarang exe would have to stop working."

Taehyung's face fell. "B-but why? I don't see anything wrong with us living together."

"You still need a lot to learn Tae." You pursed your lips at him before pushing him out of the door.

"My dad will faint. My mom will kill you with her sandals if she sees you." You said alarmingly, which seemed to make Taehyung understand a little as he obliged all of a sudden.

Well, nobody wants to die.

"But for how long would I have to stay there?" He pouted standing outside your place helplessly. Yeontan let out another woof.

"Not for long I guess. They don't stay-" you pulled out your phone from your trouser's pocket feeling it vibrate for an upcoming message. Swiping the lock away you were greeted by another message from your mom.

"Now that you've finally seen all the texts I sent you,

It was a prank!!

How was it?? Haha i guess you really believed we were coming. Bet on my gucci flipflops you were already cleaning your room."

You just stared at the messages for a good few seconds.

"Sarang?" Taehyung's deep voice brought you back to reality.

"Come inside." You shoved your phone down your trouser's pocket. "They aren't coming."

"Are you okay?" But he only said worriedly, clutching Yeontan to his chest who was looking up at you surprised too.

"Yeah?"

"Then why are you crying?" He said softly. Your eyes went wide realizing the actual tears falling off your cheeks quietly.

"They are such bad parents, I can't even-" you took another swig of your bottle, face scrunching up for its sweetness hitting your taste buds. "They abandoned me! That's what they did!"

Taehyung bit on his inner cheeks staring at your vulnerable sight. He had never seen this side of you.

"T-that's coke, Sarang," he piped. He couldn't understand why you were acting drunk drinking so many bottles of cocacola.

"I know!" You growled taking another swig, not breaking eye contact with him as you did so. Then you vulgarly rubbed your mouth off with the back of your hand.

"Today I'll get drunk on coke. Don't judge me," you murmured looking at him teary eyed. "Truthfully I'm drunk on my sorrows."

Taehyung scrunched up his eyebrows, shivering by himself a little as the chilly breeze hit him out in the night. In the dim light of the moon, the girl before him sitting with her legs close to her chest and her hands hugging them, felt different.

This wasn't the first time you two were having a meaningless midnight conversation on the rooftop but this time, Taehyung felt like he was yet to know a lot about you.

And he really did want to get to know you like no other, he didn't even know why.

"Are you really that sad?" He sighed at you. You had your head buried on your kneecaps.

"You wouldn't know..." You said in a muffled voice. "How it's like to feel so alone. Having parents yet not having them. They were always so busy, having business trips around the world. Dad would take mom but not me."

Taehyung listened silently. When you would say no more he spoke up. "Trust me, I know."

You looked up and turned to him. He looked down, licked his lower lip before continuing. "I know.

"I don't have parents, none of the fairies do. God made us like that. We don't fall in love. We don't have our significant other like humans do. All we know for our whole lives is the jobs we are assigned to do, and everyone is content doing so.

"But maybe not I." He turned his gaze towards you. "I didn't have a job assigned to do, unlike my brothers. So I was pretty much alone all the time. I waited for God to give me one and he did. This is my very first job. But to tell you the truth..."

He fiddled with his fingers again looking down. "I've always envied humans. In my free time, I read books, watched movies by them. And I always admired how they'd fall in love, get married, start a family and have children together. They'd stay with each other until they'd die. Many of them wants each other even after they go to heaven, I've seen with my own eyes."

Then he went quiet. It was a comfortable silence between you two. But you couldn't stop staring at the boy under the moonlight who seemed more beautiful than the moon itself.

"You have me now, Tae," you murmured in the dark but suddenly some other words slipped your tongue.

"But you're gonna leave me too."

That made Taehyung snap his head towards you. For a few seconds he just stared at your eyes not uttering a single word. He then gulped, you saw his Adams apple bobbing up and down.

"That's what makes me so afraid," he whispered. "Because these days I really don't want to leave. I want to stay with you forever even though I don't belong here."

Wide-eyed you stared at the beautiful boy before you who looked sadder than ever. You couldn't believe what you've just heard.

Involuntarily your hand went towards him and you put it on top of his. "Then don't."

There was a second before he went forward, close to your face and he stopped there. With your nose barely brushing with his, you both breathing in each other. His gaze slowly dropped from your eyes to your lips.

Then he came even closer and placed his lips gently on yours. You closed your eyes kissing him back. Your hand that was placed on his, he took it and laced his fingers with yours, kissing you deeply in the meantime.

There were thousands, no, millions of fireworks happening inside your chest. You felt it this time. You felt his affection towards you through that kiss, you didn't want him to leave you. Ever.

For the first time in your life you felt like you weren't alone anymore.
