There's a first time for everything.

Yoongi has had countless first-time experiences: his first steps, his first preciously spoken words, his first day attending a new school, getting his first car, or most recently, meeting his first love.

Over the course of twenty long and awaited years, Yoongi met Jeon Jungkook.

Falling in love with Jungkook wasn't something immediate. Living in a small town, everyone in Yoongi's school knew each other. When Jungkook moved here, everyone was curious to meet him— especially the girls, who he was very popular with. Jungkook is extremely handsome, charming, and jokes around fluidly, so he easily became loved by all the students.

Yoongi wasn't exactly popular in school. However, he was friends with pretty much anyone who was nice and respectful towards him. He didn't like jocks (especially the rude ones), and Jungkook was also the type to be friends with everyone, including the jocks, but he wasn't like them. He was nice and respectful, and he didn't have an ego higher than a flag on a pole.

It was freshman year when Jungkook moved to their town, and even though Yoongi had classes with him, he didn't really think much about the boy— not until the next year rolled over. Yoongi didn't think he'd ever become friends with Jungkook, but their mutual friends got along and, somehow, Yoongi ended up sitting next to him in class one day.

Naturally, they started having conversations with each other. If their friends are friends, they might as well try and get along too, right?

Except... they got along really well, and in a completely different way than their friends were getting along. Yoongi found himself feeling lighter, much bubblier, and smiling a lot more around Jeon Jungkook. And Jungkook was the same, Yoongi could tell. But neither of them ever questioned it. They were merely friends.

"You're so short," Jungkook had teased Yoongi one day. It made Yoongi's smile go from ear to ear and he nudged the younger with his arm to fight back.

"No, you're just too tall."

Jungkook smiled just as big. "I take that as a compliment. Thanks, shorty."

It's things like this that make Yoongi like Jungkook. They naturally tease each other, yet they can hold pure, long conversations about serious things as well. Yoongi is full of advice and Jungkook is full of admiration. It's a win-win situation every time it comes down to them. And it's also very win-win whenever they flirt with each other because anyone with eyes can see that they like each other.

"We're close friends, right?" Jungkook asked Yoongi one day while they were eating out at a restaurant, having lamb skewers that they've grown fond of eating together.

"Of course."

Jungkook swirled his skewer a few times. "Do you remember freshman year? We were in the same class together and..." A smile arose on Jungkook's face and Yoongi held his breath, curious as to where he was going with their conversation. They've never even acknowledged being in the same class before they became friends; Yoongi wasn't sure that Jungkook had even remembered. "You raised your hand to answer a question. It was an equation, and you got the answer totally wrong." Jungkook begins to laugh. "You were so confident."

Yoongi laughs to hide how embarrassed he is. He hides his cheeks behind his hands, not wanting Jungkook to see him flustered.

"What about it?" he complains with a slight whine. Jungkook just smiles at him.

"Oh, nothing."

He definitely has the look in his eyes that means he wants to say more, but he doesn't. Yoongi huffs and points his lamb skewer at Jungkook to scold him.

"Then why did you bring it up?" He doesn't let Jungkook answer, telling him, "Go get us a refill on our drinks, you brat."

Jungkook may be a brat at most times, but he listened well and immediately took their cups to go refill them. While Yoongi sat there all alone at their table, he thought intensely about the fond look in Jungkook's eyes as he was talking about past Min Yoongi.

He didn't question Jungkook, though. He didn't question the little details that Jungkook had remembered for whatever reason. Instead, he changed the conversation when Jungkook came back and sat down.

If he had known then that Jungkook was recalling a much deeper memory, a moment he seemingly liked enough to remember so well, and a moment that first made Jungkook form a crush on him, then Yoongi would've asked him out weeks ago on the day Jungkook had mentioned it at the restaurant.

Instead, Yoongi finally grew some balls (after his friends Seokjin and Hoseok talked him up nicely) and he decided to make a move on Jungkook— a move that would finally make them confess those long-grown feelings to each other.

His move is blunt, really. As they usually do, they were hanging out, eating lamb skewers together, and Yoongi almost makes Jungkook choke on his lamb once he asks him, "So when are we going to turn these into real dates?"

While Yoongi shyly averts his eyes, Jungkook gapes at him in awe, as if he couldn't believe Yoongi's words.

"Do you want this to be a date, hyung?"

After Yoongi lowers his head and nods slightly, Jungkook then proceeds to go on a rant about how he should've mentioned it sooner and that they could've been dating all along, to which Yoongi responds with a pout and an accusatory, "You didn't say anything either!"

"Well, I am now. This is officially a date."

And, so, during their sudden first date, they go on about how their crushes on each other began and as they talked more and more about how much they like each other, they both started feeling like piles of lovely goo. Yoongi quickly realizes that he wasn't wrong all this time for thinking that Jungkook was flirting with him— he definitely was, and now that they know about each other's feelings, Jungkook flirts a hundred times more, leaving Yoongi to blush like crazy.

However, Jungkook doesn't want their date to end by parting ways in the restaurant. He mentions this to Yoongi, who tells him that it's totally okay if their first date ends like this because he's happy either way. Jungkook smiles in return, telling him that he's also just as happy, but he still wants something more romantic than lamb skewers under a blinking ceiling light to be their first official date.

"Let me take you somewhere," Jungkook lets out, and Yoongi knows that he must have an idea in mind, so he just nods along, happy to go along with Jungkook's suggestion.

He's only been in Jungkook's truck a few times before. He remembers when Jungkook first got the truck— it was just a few months after Jungkook moved into town and his parents had helped him get it because, here in their small town, most people drive instead of taking the bus since there aren't any city buses nearby.

Yoongi's been in the truck on multiple occasions now because Jungkook had insisted and Yoongi had always felt so special to be in the passenger seat of the black, shiny truck that the Jeon Jungkook owned.

He knows that many people would kill to be in Jungkook's truck with him. He also knows that many people would kill to be going on a date with Jungkook, so he feels like the luckiest man in the world when Jungkook opens the truck door for him and helps him up into the passenger seat.

"Where are we going?"

Jungkook gets settled into the driver seat, putting on his seatbelt and then starting the engine. "Somewhere romantic. Just put some music on and enjoy the ride, 'kay?"

Yoongi shakes his head in disbelief when Jungkook simply grins his bunny-like teeth at him, but he listens well and starts filtering through the radio stations to find the music he knows Jungkook likes and will most definitely sing to on the way to wherever the hell they're going.

The sun is setting now, and as Yoongi watches gorgeous trees and hills go by in a flash, he's overcome with a warmth that causes a soft smile to permanently sit on his face. He glances over at Jungkook every once in a while, taking in the sight of beauty and perfection. The orange sky reflects off of his skin, giving him a gorgeous orange glow.

Something buzzes within him, watching Jungkook drive. He's got one hand on the steering wheel and his other arm is placed on the console, his hand hanging loosely over it. For a moment, Yoongi's fingers twitch as he thinks about reaching over and grabbing Jungkook's hand, but he fights against it. Instead, he focuses on the arch of Jungkook's eyebrows and the stern look in his eyes as he turns the wheel towards a backroad. Yoongi thinks Jungkook looks fine as hell, simply driving his truck, but he would die of embarrassment if Jungkook knew he was thinking that right now.

By the time Jungkook pulls into a little spot by a big lake, the sun has already set and Yoongi feels like he's dreaming, but he's brought back into reality when Jungkook switches the key off and looks in his direction.

"Isn't it pretty?"

Yoongi watches Jungkook turn to look out at the lake. He follows his gaze and once again, the lake comes into his view— except this time, he really takes it in. The moon is sitting just above them, casting a beautiful white glimmer down onto the small ripples in the lake. Nobody is around, so it's silent and it's calming to take in the sight. Yoongi is reminded of all the nights he would sit by his window, messaging Jungkook with a soft smile etched permanently on his face.

"It's gorgeous," he agrees.

Jungkook smiles and then pulls his phone out of his jacket pocket. Quickly, he turns his bluetooth radio on, selecting a slow song playlist, which Yoongi recognizes as some of Jungkook's favorite songs. He isn't surprised that Jungkook decided to play these types of songs. However, he doesn't expect Jungkook to open the driver side door and step out of his truck.

"You coming?"

Yoongi stares at him with wide eyes. "Coming where?" he asks in confusion, earning a laugh from the younger.

"Come on," Jungkook says as he holds out his hand.

Yoongi doesn't question it anymore. While he gets out of the truck, Jungkook turns up the music and hurries over to Yoongi, grabbing onto his fingers gently and tugging him closer to the lake. It takes Yoongi's breath away when Jungkook turns to look into his eyes, the view of the lake right behind him. He somehow looks even prettier under the stars.

Nighttime is their thing, really. It's always late at night when they text each other, or even sometimes call each other. It's always in the dead of night where Yoongi can really let go of his day and wind down while falling more and more for Jungkook and his silly memes and jokes.

But, he hardly ever gets to see Jungkook during those nights. Right now, with the full moon shining down on them, Yoongi silently declares that he wants to spend every single night with Jeon Jungkook.

As Jungkook pulls Yoongi forward and places his hands on Yoongi's waist, everything becomes too surreal. Yoongi's fingertips tingle as he places them around Jungkook's neck and his heart feels so full that it might explode as he looks up into Jungkook's eyes— Jungkook is looking down at him with the same exact look in his eyes.

Yoongi never knew something so perfect existed, yet it's right here in front of him, under the stars.

"Isn't this too cheesy?" he asks Jungkook, who merely shrugs.

"Not if it's us," he says confidently, which makes Yoongi avert his eyes as he tries to hold his blush back. Jungkook gently squeezes his waist, making his blush even worse. "You're really pretty under the stars, hyung," he says as they sway to the music. "The moon shines down on top of your head. It's really cute."

Yoongi has had enough. He tucks his face into Jungkook's shoulder and he holds tightly onto him. "Shut up," he grumbles into Jungkook's jacket, making the younger boy laugh, and it allows Yoongi to get even more comfortable, relaxing into his arms as Jungkook holds him closer.

"I'm just telling the truth." He nuzzles his cheek into the side of Yoongi's head. "Just let me tell you how much I like you, hyung."

"You already have."

Jungkook lightly laughs and it's warm, inviting. "And I will for the rest of our lives."

Everything about that statement makes time feel like it stills around them. Yoongi wouldn't mind spending forever with Jungkook. He wouldn't mind dancing under the stars every night for the rest of his life, if it's with the person he cherishes the most.

He hardly pulls away, only enough to look into Jungkook's big brown eyes, full of twinkling stars. He asks him, "Do you really want to spend the rest of your life with me?"

Jungkook's lips curve up a little more than they already were, and he lifts his warm palms to Yoongi's cheeks.

"Even longer than that, Yoongi."
