Yoongi thought that today would be the perfect day to be dragged to a bunny cafe.
He's not exactly sure what excites his friend Hoseok enough to drag a cat hybrid to a bunny cafe, but Yoongi is very easily convinced and bunnies along with warm coffee doesn't sound too awful when Hoseok begs him.
It's late fall, so cafes like these are popular at this time of year. Yoongi is hardly surprised when they arrive and there's a line of people there for coffee– but what does surprise him is that his squirrel hybrid friend drags him towards a glass door, which must be the entrance to the bunny cafe area.
Sure enough, when they step in, Hoseok is in pure awe and wows at the amount of different colored bunnies running around– some lying around or being petted by little kids.
"Look at how adorable!" Hoseok exclaims as a big white bunny hops over and looks up at him. Hoseok's squirrel ears twitch a little, which is something that happens when he's overly excited. "You're so cute! I'm gonna take you home with me!" he says as he crouches down to the little guy.
Yoongi chuckles as he watches, but then he starts to look around the place to get a feel of it.
The walls are white and the floor is dark brown and wooden. The lights are bright and there are things all over the place for the bunnies— toys scattered, little ramps to play on, a bedding area for them to nap even though half of them are just napping under chairs or in people's arms instead.
"This place is pretty cute," he tells Hoseok. "Are we going to order something or are you gonna quit life as a squirrel and become one of them?" He points at the bunny and Hoseok laughs, then gets back up on his feet.
"I'm fine as I am. Let's go order, I'm craving my daily coffee now."
Hoseok leads the way and the cat hybrid follows next to him, his black tail swaying as he checks out the place a little more. The counter is off to the right and the menu is cute, made out like a chalkboard with different colors written and little bunny drawings that look too good to have been done with chalk.
"Hi! Welcome to Hue's Bunny Cafe! What can I get for you two boys?"
It's a girl, she's a bunny hybrid, and her bunny ears are pointing straight up on her head. There's a little glass white bunny in front of the register and Yoongi finds it cute and more interesting, so he rubs at the decoration as Hoseok starts to order an iced americano for himself.
"Hyung." He nudges Yoongi, earning his attention and forcing him away from the glass bunny. "What do you want? Tell her."
Yoongi blinks in confusion. "Oh- Uh. What's the cafe's most popular sell? Anything good?" he asks. The young girl– probably a teenager– points up to the chalkboard to show him a little cup that has a bunny drawn inside of it.
"We do latte art here," she tells him happily. "It's really cute. There's a list of things we can do right here."
As if she was expecting to, she suddenly whips out a white piece of paper and places it over the counter, then leans into it to point over the words. Sure enough, there's a list. But the bunny on the chalkboard looks cute enough and there's a couple behind them in line, so Yoongi chooses quickly.
"The bunny is fine. I'll take that."
The girl smiles and puts it into the register. "Okay! Will that be all?" she asks, and Hoseok ends up paying for both of their coffees because he dragged Yoongi here under the agreement that he'd do so. "Here's your change! If you want," she looks at Yoongi, "you can watch your drink be made. Jungkook over here is amazing at making latte art. He'll gladly show you!"
Yoongi and Hoseok's eyes follow the girl's hand to look for said Jungkook, but all Yoongi sees is the most gorgeous bunny hybrid he's ever seen.
He has on a white shirt and black apron, which is tight around the faint muscle of his arms and chest. His hair is dark brown just like his eyes and his jawline is something that makes Yoongi's tail coil behind him in interest. This guy has such gorgeous features and he's even got cute white bunny ears– yes, that's important to note.
This guy is so good-looking that Yoongi hardly notices he's staring until the sound of a small machine brings him back to earth.
The barista– Jungkook– is making foam inside of a glass and he's already got Yoongi's drink set out in front of him.
"Wanna see how I make it?" the bunny asks them. His eyes meet Hoseok's first because he's enthusiastic in the way he tells him yes please, but once his eyes land on Yoongi's, they linger for a second in a way that makes the cat suck in his lip to try and bite away the vague heat he feels in his tummy.
Jungkook explains how the foam is made and he shows in the most simplest way, how he makes the 3D art over the drink. Yoongi can barely keep up with how swift he is. Before he knows it, there's a little white bunny head over his latte and Jungkook turns it around to show the brown eyes and shading he drew on it.
"Cute, isn't it?"
Yoongi thinks he's cute. The art is adorable and he did it with ease, which easily impressed Yoongi, but the fact that he's so cute makes it even better– he pushes that thought away though.
"You did that really fast," Yoongi finally mutters something to the bunny. Jungkook smiles a little, taking it as a compliment.
"It's not as easy as it seems." He's already preparing for another order, but he still responds to Yoongi. "It takes a lot of practice, but that just means people like you get to enjoy the cute art, right?"
He'd like to enjoy every little art piece that this Jungkook-bunny-guy can give him, honestly. But he'd never say that. Ever. Not in a million years.
As he takes his drink and Hoseok turns to look for a table, Yoongi takes another glance at the bunny– who busies himself with the new order– and then he catches sight of a little sign in front of the register that he didn't notice before.
Now Hiring
It's a bad idea. A terrible one, even. Yoongi only knows a few things about coffee and nothing at all about bunnies– the bunnies that Hoseok immediately goes back towards to play with– but he still stares at the sign for a moment before humming to himself.
Would it be worth it?
He looks at Jungkook again and watches as he grins with many teeth showing down at a little girl, his eyes twinkling as the girl gets excited over his art of a little bear. Jungkook looks cute and nice. And there's no harm in Yoongi trying it out. He needs a job anyways, just until he figures out what he wants to do in the future.
It's harmless, Yoongi thinks. And it's totally not just because of Jungkook. He just needs a job. Plain and simple.
But Hoseok suddenly calls him over and he has to forget about the sign for now. Next time, though, he'll come alone and he'll come ready to apply for a new job.
For himself, of course.
———
Perhaps Yoongi should've researched a little about being a barista before he set out to Hue's Bunny Cafe the next day.
Yoongi shows up yet again and this time there's a fellow cat hybrid in calico who works at the register. He's got a nice smile, so it's easy for him to ask about the hiring sign and even easier to get an application, the cat telling him he can just sign the papers over at one of the tables if he has time.
He glances towards the back to see if the bunny hybrid he saw yesterday is there, but he's rushed out of line by a dog hybrid behind him, so he holds back a frustrated hiss and walks to one of the tables. There, he sits with the papers out in front of him and two bunnies playing below his feet— they're cute, but he refuses to get distracted and he signs the papers.
Honestly, he doubts he'll get the job.
He has no experience as a barista or any cafe in general, no experience working with animals. Just a cat hybrid looking for a job and nothing to lose by applying. He probably won't get the job.
Apparently, though, when he goes to the cat at the register and gives him the application, the guy smiles at him. "Okay, Yoongi-ssi. If you can, come in tomorrow at six and we'll start training you. Is that fine? I'll be working tomorrow morning, so just look for me. I'm Park Jimin, by the way."
Yoongi's in shock at the man. Maybe the hiring sign was more of a plea than anything. They must be short on workers, especially at this time of year.
"I can come in tomorrow," he accepts.
After working out a few things with Jimin, he decides to order another one of the 3D lattes just to see if the Jungkook bunny comes out again. Sure enough, the bunny comes out from behind the counter, and he looks more focused with a hard-set look in his eyes.
But then his eyes meet Yoongi's.
"Oh- hi again! You're back."
He remembers Yoongi from yesterday. That's great. That's nice. "Uh, yeah." He clears his throat as Jungkook starts whipping milk in the same glass from yesterday. "I just applied to work here, actually."
The bunny looks up at him in surprise, but then he quickly looks back at the drink he's supposed to be making. "That's really nice. When do you start... Um.... What's your name?"
"Min Yoongi." His tail is swaying again and it's because he appreciates nice conversations like this. "And I start tomorrow morning. That's what Jimin-ssi just told me."
"Oh, Jimin-ssi," Jungkook repeats, a big grin sneaking up on his face as he turns to look at Jimin— Jimin's cat ears point back as he squints at the bunny.
"You play too much," Jimin tells him right as the bunny presents to Yoongi the same cute little bunny he'd made yesterday. Yoongi had ordered the same thing again. "Don't worry about him, Yoongi-ssi. If he teases you, let me know."
Jungkook puckers his lips into a pout. "I won't mess with him. I'll be extra nice, actually." He smiles at Yoongi and it almost feels illegal to have his pure brown eyes meet his. His eyes are so round and sparkly. "I work tomorrow morning too. We'll be friends, right?"
"Friends?"
"Yeah! Work is boring without friends. I'll teach you how to take care of the little bunnies!" Jungkook's voice is pitched higher. It's cute.
Yoongi blinks up at him, suddenly feeling like the walls are closing in on him. "Um. Sure, I'll think about it. I'll see you tomorrow morning?"
Jungkook nods in response.
"I'll see you then, Yoongi-ssi."
The next morning he shows up five minutes before six and he had watched YouTube videos last night in hopes to learn anything about coffee, or coffee shops like this in general. He'd even researched a few things about bunnies.
"Yoongi-ssi! You made it!"
As if he'd apply and not show up.
It was the bunny hybrid who called out his name and it's also him who points out where the aprons are for Yoongi to put on. He already feels tired from getting up so early, but the fact that he gets to go behind the counter with the very person who inspired him to apply here makes him feel a little better.
"We'll teach you the basics first," Jimin says, making himself be known for a split second. "Jungkook, show him how the machines work. I have to find someone else to come in today. Taehyungie called in sick."
"Okay. Will do."
Yoongi has no idea who Taehyungie is and he doesn't really care either, not when Jimin leaves the room and only he and the bunny are standing alone now.
"Yoongi-ssi. Are you ready? Is this your first time learning?" Jungkook asks him. Yoongi nods as he ties a black apron around him. It matched his ears, tail and hair. "Okay, so we'll start off showing you how to make the espressos."
Jungkook shows Yoongi what to do with the coffee, shows him how to put it in the machine, tells him what the machine will do, lets the espresso magically come out and into the little white glass.
Yoongi thinks it's so easy. A recipe to follow. Hard to mess up.
So, Jungkook lets him do it on his own for the first time. Not even two steps in, Jungkook steps up to him and shows him how to level the coffee correctly— and suddenly Yoongi feels like an absolute fool when he presses the wrong button on the coffee machine. There were only three buttons. He somehow presses the wrong one.
This is humiliating.
But Jungkook giggles at Yoongi and suddenly it doesn't feel so bad after all. Jungkook's giggle goes away too quickly, but he wants to hear it again. He sounds like an even cuter version of Elmo— Yoongi forces the thought away as Jungkook shows him which button is the correct one.
He eventually gets it right and is able to make one of the many things available on the menu, but at least he's got one down! He used to know none at all!
"You're doing good, Yoongi-ssi. You'll be an expert before you know it." Jungkook winks at him and it's so bad because his other eye blinks as well, but Yoongi's tummy still feels weird at the sight.
"Ah, don't tease me like that," he tells the bunny with a huff, yet he's only doing so to hide his reddening cheeks. Jungkook just laughs softly at him.
"I'm not teasing you, Yoongi-ssi. You'll know when I am. Don't you worry." He talks as if he'll wink again, yet he doesn't. "Now. How about I show you how to make the most commonly ordered drinks now? Yeah?"
———
Not even a week into working at Hue's Bunny Cafe, Yoongi realizes that making quick coffee is hard and rude customers have him biting back curses and hisses nearly every day.
He doesn't understand how Jungkook can be the sweetest person ever, even when the rude customers make a scene or have something to say. Maybe it's because Jungkook is more focused on the good things like the children who happily play with and pet the bunnies, or the teen couples who come in for cute dates.
Yoongi finds out soon that he's not much older than Jungkook, they don't live too far from each other, and the bunny can be mischievous.
On day three of knowing Jeon Jungkook, just like Jimin had warned him, the bunny started teasing Yoongi. It starts off light, teasing Yoongi when he asks obvious questions and gives sarcastic answers in return. Then it becomes more playful a week in, when Jungkook decides to call him kitty or the way he snickers when he sees Yoongi glaring at a customer who walks away after being so rude.
"Kitty-ssi," Jungkook keeps calling him; anything other than his actual name, it seems. He's lucky he's cute. "We have an order for a 3D latte, do you want me to show you how to make it?"
He's shown him already, but Yoongi accepts the offer anyway. Of course, he does.
The bunny shows him to pour just a little milk into the glass and whip it until it's foamy. Then he shows Yoongi the cleanest art ever and he only uses a spoon to do so— it's amazing. Yoongi thought it was cool the first time he did it, and it never fails to amaze him.
This time, he makes a little cat in the drink and he gives it to a giddy little girl who's wearing a sparkly dress.
"It's so cute!" The little girl is so happy. "It looks just like him!" She points right at Yoongi, who looks back at her in shock.
Jungkook turns to him and smiles big, laughing with the little girl and her mom. Suddenly, Yoongi feels like Jungkook did this on purpose, making him watch as he made a cat out of the foam.
"I can't believe I'm being compared to foam," Yoongi says once the kid walks away. Jungkook smiles away. It's almost unbelievable, how it's only been a week and Yoongi already loves his smile.
"It resembles you," Jungkook giggles. "Even the look on its face. Looks like you in a little coffee cup."
Yoongi lightly swats the bunny with his long, black tail. "You're so annoying."
"Is that so?" Jungkook nudges him and smiles innocently. "But you love it, don't you?"
Yoongi averts his eyes and can't help it once his lips pout out. "N-No I don't. You're ridiculous. Don't you have lattes to make or something?"
Jungkook laughs lightly to himself, but he does end up leaving Yoongi to stand at the counter alone, going back to the machines instead. Though Yoongi says no, he does sort of like the attention and having the bunny talk to him. It's a nice way to pass time and even though Yoongi may not admit it, he blushes almost every time Jungkook teases him.
———
Later, when their shift is finally over, Yoongi and Jungkook leave the cafe at the same time.
They'd left together a few times by now, but this time the bunny walks beside Yoongi and nudges him gently with his elbow. He's only a little taller than Yoongi, but the fact that he's walking by him makes Yoongi feel even smaller for some reason.
"What is it?" Yoongi asks him.
Jungkook just shrugs. "How far is your place from here? I'm going into the city. If it's on the way..." He averts his eyes, his white bunny ears falling flat on his head. "I could walk you home if you'd want me to."
Yoongi doesn't feel cornered or uncomfortable— he feels nothing bad in the slightest. In fact, he holds back a smile. "What? You tease me and now you feel bad, so you wanna walk me home?"
"Oh, I don't feel bad about it." Jungkook laughs as he shoves his hands into his hoodie pocket for warmth. Of course he doesn't feel bad. "If you don't want me to, I'll just walk behind you or take a different way–"
"No, no, you can walk with me!" Yoongi raises his hand to his neck and rubs harshly once he realizes he spoke up way too fast. "I mean- If you want to, you can walk me home. I won't mind, I guess."
I won't mind, I guess? Really Yoongi?
He feels like a fool every single time Jungkook is near him.
"Well, I guess I'll walk with you then," Jungkook tells him. He can hear the smile in Jungkook's voice. Great.
They walk side by side down the streets closer into the city and when Yoongi's nearing his apartment building, he starts walking slower because he's tired from a long day. Yeah, that's why.
"So, kitty-ssi."
Yoongi rolls his eyes at the name. The name that he likes. "Yeah?"
"You came in with another guy last week," Jungkook suddenly announces. Yoongi glances at him in confusion, but the bunny refuses to meet his eyes now. He's looking straight ahead. "Was that your friend? Boyfriend?"
The thought of Hoseok being his boyfriend just makes Yoongi chuckle. He can't imagine being with Hoseok. They're almost like brothers at heart. Even thinking about it just makes Yoongi cringe a little on the inside— he's been asked this question at least three times before and it's just crazy to think.
"He's my friend," he informs the curious bunny. "Why? Did you plan to hit on my best friend? I gotta tell you, he's got a huge crush on one of our friends already, so you're far behind on that train, bunny."
Jungkook hums to himself. "I wasn't planning on it, thank you very much." He halts as Yoongi does, then looks up at the building they're standing in front of. "Is this you?" Yoongi nods, but he hates the timing. He was too interested in where Jungkook's explanation would follow up to. "Well, I guess I'll see you Thursday morning?" the bunny asks. Again, Yoongi nods.
"Thank you for walking with me."
Even though you were going into the city anyways.
A soft smile is given like a gift to Yoongi. "Of course. Don't fall on your way up, kitty-ssi."
———
"Look!" Yoongi's pointing at the espresso he just managed to put foam on. "Look, Jungkook-ah, I did it."
Jungkook tilts his head as he peeks over Yoongi's shoulder. "Yeah. It's a nice... cloud. You did good."
Yoongi scowls up at him. "Cloud?" he repeats, totally offended. "It's a bunny. What do you mean, cloud?"
"O-Oh." Jungkook laughs nervously to himself. "Of course. I knew that. It just– There's no coloring on it and it looked like a cloud, is all. We have clouds on the list, too. I just thought that you made one."
Yoongi frowns at the bunny. It's an espresso he bought and made for himself, but now he hardly wants to drink it. It does look like a cloud. "You need to teach me better. I suck at this."
"No you don't," the bunny assures him. "Look, just..." He picks up the stick and napkin that he usually uses and begins to shape the foam a little better, lifting the short ears that Yoongi made and making them taller, then rounding out the foam to make it smoother. "There. Now just put some eyes and nose on it and you're done!"
"That doesn't teach me anything."
Jungkook frowns down at him, seeing Yoongi's cat ears lower in disappointment. "I can't really teach you here. We're always so busy. If you honestly wanna learn more, I could teach you at my apartment. I have the stuff still, from when I learned. We could take our time there."
He's inviting Yoongi to his apartment.
Shit, shit, shit.
Yoongi has to remind himself about a dozen times that Jungkook means nothing by it; he simply wants to teach him, just like Yoongi asked for. But a part of him feels a little fuzzy inside, thinking about going to Jungkook's apartment— even if it is an innocent invite.
"Um. Okay, just as long as you don't kidnap me."
Jungkook smiles- as expected- at him. "I promise you I won't."
So, later when work is over, it's Yoongi who follows Jungkook to his apartment this time. His apartment is in the same direction as Yoongi's, only a single turn making such a big difference— Yoongi's apartment is towards the big city on the right and Jungkook's is a smaller apartment building to the left.
When they go into his apartment, Yoongi's met with so much to take in.
Jungkook has a cute, small apartment. He's got modern furniture and figurines in his living room. He also finds out that Jungkook has a pet dog as he's taking his shoes off. Jungkook gets greeted by a Doberman and suddenly Yoongi has to shy away a little, his cat instincts taking over as his tail takes control and rises, fur standing straight up as if he's been shocked.
"You have a dog," he states loud and clear.
The dog is cute, but he's big. He's almost the size of Yoongi— especially when he stands up on his hind legs as if to hug Jungkook, who hugs back.
"Ah, I'm sorry." Jungkook tells the dog to sit, which he does. He's trained. "I totally forgot to mention that. This is Bam. He's a sweetheart, but I'll put him in his house while you're here."
Yoongi brushes it off, saying, "No, it's fine. You don't have to." But his tail still sways, waiting for the dog to do something bad. Bam never does.
After Jungkook asks him if he's sure and he says yes, they go to the kitchen and Jungkook hunts out the little tool to whisk the milk and he uses his coffee machine to make two drinks. When he has the two cups set on the counter side by side, he pulls out the milk and a big glass for it to go in.
Yoongi's already got the foam-making down, so it's easy to do. It's just the 3D art that he fails to make well.
But Jungkook shows him step by step how to place the foam over the drink. He shows him how much to use and how to place it perfectly. He even gets out food coloring and decides to show him how to color the foam as well. Yoongi's getting better by the minute and it's only because of Jungkook— of course, it is.
Jungkook was like an expert when Yoongi first saw him doing the art weeks ago. He didn't even know it was a thing until he saw the gorgeous bunny hybrid going at it with his foam and spoons.
Thanks to him, Yoongi's learning.
"Yes, see! It's cute!" Jungkook says as he smiles down at Yoongi's art. It's a cat. They made a cat together. Yoongi smiles at the art as well, loving the compliment, but his smile is ripped away once he realizes that eyes are burning into him. "It looks just like you, kitty-ssi."
Yoongi doesn't scowl or frown or pout at Jungkook like he usually does. Instead, he turns to look up at the bunny and clenches hard onto his sweater once his eyes meet Jungkook's.
Why is he staring so hard?
"Um. Yeah." He turns his gaze back to the cup. "Just call me hyung now. Stop being so formal with me." He sounds a little harsh, but he didn't really mean for it to come out that way. He wanted the opposite. But Jungkook just smiles at him despite the coldness in his tone. He must be used to Yoongi's attitude.
"Okay, kitty-hyung."
Yoongi roles his eyes even if he saw it coming from miles away. "You're so annoying."
"Yes," Jungkook agrees, then pokes at Yoongi's side. "You like it though." The cat finally does scowl at him now.
"I don't. Don't touch me. You'll get germs all over me."
The touch lingers warmly, though.
———
Today at the bunny cafe, Yoongi has to learn.
"Ow!"
He accidentally hisses as one of the brown bunnies in the seating area nibble too hard at his tail. It's not even opening time yet and he's been sitting on the floor, trying to pet the bunnies and become friends with them, but it's much harder than he thought.
They either keep nibbling at his fur or running away from him every time he tries to pet or play with them. The only one that does let him hold her is the big white bunny that Hoseok had met the first time they came here— but to break and crush his soul, Jungkook just had to tell him, "Yeah, she likes anyone. She's our most chill bunny."
How come none of the bunnies like him? How come he sucks so bad at latte art? How come there were three buttons and he still got it wrong, somehow?
This cafe is against him. There's a curse on him and him only.
"Hyung, you can't force them to come to you." Jungkook walks over and sits next to him, their arms so close that they brush together. It feels like fire on Yoongi's skin. "Look. You have to gain their trust. You're just scaring them away when you try to beg them."
It's so easy for Jungkook to just hold out his hand with bunny treats and call the little bunnies over to him. A brown and black one comes up instantly and Yoongi is jealous of the fact that the bunnies love Jungkook the most.
"You're a bunny. That doesn't count." He slumps over as Jungkook forces the treat in Yoongi's hand and suddenly the bunnies come up to him, seeing that Jungkook trusts him as well. "You're just cheating with these treats."
"Excuses, hyung."
Three bunnies come up to Jungkook and he isn't even holding a treat anymore. Either it really is because he's a fellow bunny or it's because he's a Disney princess of some sort.
Yoongi can imagine it, too. Jungkook is nice and sweet, has a big pretty smile, and he can be quiet in a comforting way; not an awkward one. He's also very friendly. Likable. Gorgeous. Jungkook is a Disney princess and Yoongi's just the evil black cat that lives with the evil witches.
"Hyung."
He's still getting used to that. Hyung.
"Hm?" he hums in response. Jungkook just turns to him and tilts his head, petting at one of the bunnies.
"Why did you choose to work here?" He doesn't have a teasing tone in his voice and his eyes are burning curiously into Yoongi's until the cat merely looks away. "I mean, you had no experience with coffee machines, no experience at all with bunnies or cafes like this at all, and you even claim this place is against you. So why?"
One of the bunnies nibble at Yoongi's tail again and he has to move it before it goes too far and bites him again. He truly had no experience at all, yet he's sitting on the floor, trying to befriend or pet the bunnies and he tried his hardest to learn how to make good coffee.
He remembers when he first walked into this place.
The bunnies were cute, Hoseok immediately liked the place, and the chalkboard was cute as well. It had nice details and the cafe smelled like wonderful coffee with the warmth of wandering bunnies. But what really drew him in was the bunny hybrid behind the counter. He couldn't take his eyes off until he was startled back into reality– and even then, he still watched in awe.
He applied here because he wanted to see the cute bunny work his magic again and again. Wanted to come back for Jungkook.
"Um." Yoongi lifted his tail over onto his lap and took the black fur between his fingers, definitely not blushing right now. "I needed a job because I'm taking online classes. This place just happened to be hiring."
It's not a lie. He needed a better job than the one he was working back then and this cafe for some reason spoke to him. Simple as that.
Jungkook's head lowers, but it was to look at the bunny in his lap. "Right," he mutters quietly. "What're you studying then? In your online classes."
"Architecture. I just like interior designs, so I'm just learning all the coolest things." He stops himself before he goes off and speaks too much about it. Jungkook looks at him in shock, though, with his bunny ears pointing right at him.
"I never would've guessed that," he says and Yoongi chuckles.
"Guess there's a lot of things you don't know about me." But he'd like to sit and talk to Jungkook about anything like this, when Jungkook isn't just teasing him or in his playful mood— though he does like that as well. But sitting here talking so calmly makes Yoongi feel nice as well.
"Yeah. I guess so."
———
"Hyung~" Hoseok calls out as he steps up to the counter. They're not so busy right now and Hoseok hasn't been at the cafe since Yoongi started working here. He's here today, however.
He ordered a 3D latte in the shape of a cat just to see how Yoongi will do when he makes it. Yoongi had told him about learning how to make them.
So, Yoongi makes the drink and Hoseok hums in satisfaction as he starts shaping the foam over the cup. It comes out as a pretty cute cat with blush on it, thanks to Jungkook's teaching from a few weeks ago. Yoongi's getting used to things around here now.
"Wah, it looks so good, hyung." Hoseok is in awe once Yoongi offers him the finished product.
"I know–"
"It looks amazing," he hears the familiar bunny say just seconds before the bunny comes up beside him and drapes his arm over Yoongi's shoulder. Yoongi looks at him in confusion, but the bunny is just smiling at Hoseok. "Kitty-hyung let me teach him. Don't know what I'll do now 'cause I think he's slowly taking over my specialty."
Hoseok giggles as Yoongi smacks the bunny's head playfully with his long tail. Jungkook removes his arm from his shoulder and giggles too. "You know that's not true," Yoongi huffs. "Go away. You know your art is better than mine." Jungkook never stops smiling. It doesn't matter if Yoongi scolds him or uses his tail against him.
"You two are so cute," Hoseok says with a suggestive look in his eyes.
Only then does Jungkook's smile visibly fall. Yoongi averts his eyes meaning to shy away, but instead it feels like he's looking away because Jungkook's visual discomfort makes him cringe.
"Hob-ah, don't say that. You're making him uncomfortable, you dummy. Just- Just go drink your coffee and play with the bunnies."
Yoongi isn't looking at Jungkook– he refuses to– so he misses the way that Jungkook stares with wide eyes at him.
Hoseok eventually leaves with an apologetic look and Yoongi ignores the sinking feeling in his tummy as he walks to the register to a dog hybrid who just walked in. "Welcome to Hue's Bunny Cafe. What can I get for you?"
He refuses to acknowledge Jungkook's disgusted expression. He just knows that Jungkook hated Hoseok's little comment. He knows that Jungkook probably scoffed at the idea of being cute with Yoongi.
So he ignores it for his own heart.
"Hyung," Jungkook mumbles after they give the dog hybrid their order. Yoongi finally looks at him, keeping his mouth shut. He doesn't like the uncertain look in Jungkook's eyes or the way his bunny ears look like white furs of sadness over his head— they're slanted down like he's been hurt or something. "I didn't cause you and your friend any problems, did I? You look upset..."
Yoongi's heart shatters as the bunny averts his eyes and looks down at his feet, letting his bunny ears dangle.
"N-No, you didn't cause any problems, Jungkook," he rushes to say. Jungkook still keeps his head lowered and it sucks. It sucks to see Jungkook think he's done something wrong because quite frankly, he could never. "Jungkook-ah, everything's okay. I just didn't want you to be uncomfortable. I'm sorry if you are."
Only then does Jungkook raise his head. "I-I'm not uncomfortable! Why would I be? Just as long as you aren't upset..."
"And I'm not."
"Okay then." Jungkook's smile returns and it makes Yoongi's heavy sinking feeling disappear as if it was never there to begin with. "Now make me some iced coffee. I'm going on break."
Yoongi narrows his eyes as Jungkook's smile turns up into a devilish smirk. "Make your own drink, you brat. I have customers to worry about."
"But kitty-hyung~ I am a customer."
Even so, Jungkook ends up making his own drink after telling Yoongi he was just joking around. He also ends up smiling more and that's all that Yoongi truly cares about.

Fall is ending and Hoseok asked Yoongi if he'd go to the park with him before snow could creep up on them too soon. Yoongi didn't question it– they used to go on walks all the time.
The air was pretty snappy so Yoongi wore a scarf over his jacket and he had his hands shoved into his pockets. Hoseok had on layers as well and he uses his long, fluffy squirrel tail to warm himself up as they walk around.
"So."
Yoongi sips the hot chocolate he ordered earlier from the tiny straw before he looks at Hoseok in uncertainty. So?
"So what?" Yoongi questions once he realizes that Hoseok won't say anything until he does. The squirrel merely wiggles his eyebrows at Yoongi, who stares dumbly back at him.
"So. You totally like that Jungkook guy, don't you?"
Yoongi's eyes widen at the unexpected question. "I- What? N-No."
"Right." Hoseok laughs excitedly at him. "I mean, you've told me a lot about him, so I had my suspicions, but wow. You should've seen the way you were blushing when he put his arm around you, hyung. I've never seen you so blushy and cute before."
"Hey!" Yoongi lightly pushes the squirrel until he's stepping to the side, losing his track as he giggles away. "You don't know how I feel. I don't blush."
Hoseok snickers. He's known Yoongi for too long and it sucks because– "You looked like a shy school girl next to him. I've never seen you like that, hyung. I was serious when I said you were cute together! You're just too stubborn to say so."
"I'm not stubborn," Yoongi argues back.
"And you totally don't like Jungkook. Right, right."
"Are you calling me a liar of my own feelings?"
Hoseok shrugs his shoulders. "You've stopped denying it, so I'm just going to nod my head happily and tell you yes." Another soft giggle leaves him as Yoongi huffs out into the cold air, his breath visible in front of him. "You don't have to be so shy about it, hyung. You were both blushing messes, anyway. I wouldn't be teasing you about it if I didn't think Jungkook felt the same."
Both blushing? Jungkook felt the same?
There's no way. Jungkook wouldn't look at him as anything more than just a mere coworker or a friend. That's ridiculous. Hoseok must've been seeing things or reading things wrong.
"Let's just drop it."
Drop it so he doesn't hurt his own feelings in the end. The feelings he knows are there, yet he chooses to bury them until further notice.

It's Christmas time now and the pretty lights hang everywhere in the city, but they're even prettier in the comfort of the bunny cafe— especially since Yoongi gets to watch and help Jungkook as he hangs them up around the ceiling.
"It's so pretty," Jungkook gasps as he finally gets to stand back and take in the lit-up room.
The bunnies are cheerfully hopping around from the small Christmas tree to the little decorations Jungkook's set around everywhere. Even the bunnies have a small decorated tree in their bedding area— a tree that Jungkook has to set up three times because the thrilled bunnies decide to knock it down over and over again.
But the place is beautiful with the white lights twinkling like stars above them.
"You made this place look gorgeous," Yoongi compliments him. Jungkook gazes over at him, his eyes crinkling into a smile before his lips even curve upwards.
"You really mean it?"
Yoongi takes in the sight again. "I really mean it, bunny. Now come on, you have to teach me the holiday arts. We need to get the Christmas spirit going."
But when they do get behind the counter and Yoongi's trying to copy what Jungkook shows him, he stops halfway as he realizes that Jungkook is making two heads side by side and it's a kitty next to a bunny. Yoongi just watches as Jungkook's smile grows, and after the kitty and bunny are finished, Jungkook uses the last bit of food coloring he has and pokes his stick in the foam, adding a little heart between the animals.
"Done."
Yoongi stares hard at the heart and then looks between the grumpy-looking kitty and smiling bunny.
"Jungkook-ah," he whines out. "You play around too much. You're supposed to teach me Christmas-y art."
"You said Christmas spirit," the younger reminds him. "Should I have added a mistletoe instead of a heart?"
Yoongi pouts, and he's blushing again. "You should've made a snowman or something. I didn't know you'd project your weird little dreams into the art—"
"My dreams?! I don't– That's not what I was doing. I'm just teasing you, hyung." He quickly takes the coffee and drinks right where the heart was, making it disappear within a flash.
He's cute when he's worked up.
Yoongi clenches his fist at the thought. "I'm just teasing too. Now you know how it feels," he tells him. "Now teach me how to make Olaf or something. Stop messing around, you dork."
Jungkook simply nods and mumbles quietly, "Okay, hyung."

It's today
Today, they have their first snowfall of the year.
They had just finished their shift and walked outside into the freezing cold, wrapped in their thick coats, gloves, and scarves, and not even three steps away from the cafe, they hear a little boy gasp out in front of them.
"Snow!" He raises his tiny hands into the sky and Yoongi can see now, little white flurries that start to fall over them.
Jungkook from beside him gasps as well and immediately holds out his white glove, catching the flurries that turn into heavier snow by the second. "Kitty-hyung, look. It's snowing." And Yoongi doesn't even care that he's still calling him kitty because the pure innocence in his eyes is just too adorable.
"I heard it's snowing a lot downtown," Yoongi tells him. "We could go to the park or something if you wanna see."
Those innocent eyes widen at him in surprise. "Yes! I wanna see, hyung. Will you go with me? Aren't you busy or something?"
"I don't have any plans."
And so, they go downtown and stick close together as the snow is harsh on their skin. At some point, Yoongi presses his tail– which is gradually coated white– over Jungkook's back in hopes to keep him warm.
When they get there, the park is decorated with pretty lights just like anywhere else, and everywhere is covered in white snow. Benches, decorations, small buildings and homes. Even lampposts and people walking by have snow fallen on them. Yoongi wishes he'd brought a hot chocolate from the cafe to keep him warm.
He looks around as Jungkook observes the pretty snow and a cafe near the park catches his eye.
"Hey, Jungkook." He tugs on the bunny's red sweater. Jungkook looks at him with furrowed brows, wondering why Yoongi's calling his name. "Why don't we go to that cafe over there and get some hot chocolate? I'm freezing."
Jungkook's eyes light up.
It doesn't take much convincing before they both go and get hot chocolate— Yoongi's is regular and Jungkook's has peppermint sticks set inside his cup. They take the cafe's dishes to the seating area outside and shiver as the snow that was recently on the seats make them cold. The hot chocolate is nice and hot, though, so as they drink them, the chill starts to melt away.
"This is nice, hyung. I really like the snow."
Yoongi nods. "I figured so. You looked so happy when it started snowing, so I'm glad we came here."
"Thank you for coming with me." Jungkook takes a sip of his drink and swirls the peppermint around afterwards. His smile is softer than Yoongi's ever seen before and he wonders why, but his thought is broken off. "You have snow..." Jungkook reaches over the table and Yoongi doesn't flinch a bit as the bunny gently flicks at his eyelash. His heart feels incredibly warm now. "Even the snow likes you, hyung."
Yoongi chuckles as Jungkook rests comfortably back in his seat. "The snow likes me? Are you saying other things like me as well?"
Surely not the bunnies in the cafe and surely not...
"I do."
A complete warm sensation falls over his body and it's definitely not from the hot chocolate. He holds tighter onto his glass, feeling the warmth through his gloves. He almost thinks that Jungkook's words were just his imagination or maybe he was just teasing Yoongi again or maybe he didn't mean it in the way Yoongi thought of.
"What..?" he asks anyways. And once he sees Jungkook avoid the question by sipping on his hot chocolate, his brain tells him it's real, he really just said that. "Jungkook-ah, don't play with me like that. For real."
Jungkook frowns up at him. "I'm not playing this time," he mumbles quietly. "I do like you, hyung."
Oh, shit. Is he being serious?
"Jungkook—"
"Let's go play in the snow," he's cut off. Jungkook chugs the rest of his drink and stands up quickly, leaving Yoongi at the table as he goes out in the snow and crouches down, pulling the snow into a pile. He's making a snowman.
But Yoongi gets up and cautiously makes his way towards him, staring hard as Jungkook makes the tiniest snowman he's ever seen. It has no carrot nose, no eyes, no buttons, no scarf, no arms. Just a little white blob to distract Yoongi— but it doesn't work.
"Jungkook-ah."
The bunny's ears fall flat against his head as he stands up. "Don't say anything, hyung. It's best if you just leave it at that. You don't have to return my feelings or anything."
Yoongi's own ears twitch at his very unexpected words. Jungkook really did mean it in that way. He isn't playing. He... is confessing? Is he?
"But what if I like you too, bunny?"
Jungkook's eyes grow large and his ears slowly raise back up. "H-Huh? You don't, though. Hyung, I've had such a crush on you ever since I first saw you. I kind of find it hard to believe that you could like me back by now. All I've ever done is tease you a-and you don't even look at me in that way."
Yoongi has to swallow back the scream of joy he so badly wants to let out. Jeon Jungkook is confessing to him.
Holy fuck.
He steps up to the bunny and lifts his hand to his hair, brushing the soft locks back behind his ear and he tries his damndest not to blush or make a fool of himself for once. Jungkook looks a little scared to be confessing his own feelings, but Yoongi just cups his cheek and purses his lips into a gentle smile as the bunny melts into his hold.
"Guess the Christmas spirit really paid off then, huh?" Yoongi chuckles, earning an even softer smile from Jungkook. "Trust me, bunny. I feel the same way as you do, whether you think so or not. So stop worrying so much and kiss me before I change my mind."
The worry laced in Jungkook's eyes turns into twinkling hope and a big grin appears before he knows it. Then, the bunny slips his arms around Yoongi's waist and Yoongi's tail wraps around his arms as Jungkook leans in and closes the wide gap between them, pressing his cute lips happily into Yoongi's and giggling into him as Yoongi kisses back.
They're kissing in the snow and life's never felt so easy. Yoongi's never felt so warm and so smitten in his life. Jeon Jungkook was just a bunny hybrid who did latte art, but now he's Yoongi's bunny hybrid who does latte art.
"I like you so much," Jungkook says as he leaves kisses all over the cat's face, heating up his cold skin. Yoongi's heart feels like it might explode. "Gonna kiss you like this every single day."
Yoongi knows he's teasing again because he's giggling and kissing him all over, but he doesn't mind it not one bit. He loves the bunny's kisses.
"Go ahead. I won't mind, Jungkookie."
He'll cherish every little kiss for the rest of his life, too. Jeon Jungkook is just too hard to resist and honestly, Yoongi doesn't mind liking someone so much. It's totally worth it.
Getting a job at the bunny cafe was totally worth it.
