Nostalgia Poems
Prompt 9 of this camp as suggested by most_bay was to share with us an old poem you have written that you consider the most special to you. Any form. Any theme. You can share up to 3 poems.
This was my first ever poem published on Wattpad, and it was a submission accepted by the then, quite new PoetsPub, to which I am forever grateful.
BY THE RIVER
I first glimpsed her by the river
causing heart and mind to quiver;
such an image I had never held before.
Swan's grace and regal bearing
in the golden sunlight wearing but a smile,
and my unsuspecting heart's defences tore.
I hastened to her company
with a hope of introduction
but the method and the words were choked with fear.
How does one approach an angel
with intention to exchange, well...
the first thing one must do is to get near.
She continued right on walking
unperturbed, without a care,
dainty feet creating indents on the shore.
The smile remained complacent,
as made myself adjacent, and I prayed
my presence she would not ignore.
I inquired the lady's name,
my request was most respectful
and she turned her enigmatic smile on me.
Her eyes were perfect circles
filled with opaque silver blue
'twas then I realized she could not see.
I introduced myself by name
holding out great expectation
that her handicap she'd think I did not see.
But her response was still the smile
and it took me quite a while
to realize she could not vocalize to me.
She turned her face toward the river
and with lithe and graceful strides
allowed herself to walk into the stream.
So now I ask myself the question
did I really see this vision
or was she simply an imaginary dream.

Honourable Mention for entry in PoetsPub, World's Biggest Competition - Drabble segment . My first ever attempt at a Drabble - I didn't even know what that was!
Memories Redux
a passing glance
a quirky smile
a soft caress
a hinted beguile
the heat of tender contact
the respect of love's desire
the knowledge of another
the sharing of that fire
that rumpled linen plane
that nest of memory foam
that sheen of sated flesh
that sanctuary prone
all sensations concentrated
all thoughts of lust disposed
all energy abated
all senses now composed
...and all the memories that still linger... unopposed

First Place in Contest&Things Poetry Competition May/2016
I think this is here because, at the time, I received some pretty positive, and surprisingly generous comments.
You don't forget.
Lucifer's Concerto
Her fingers skipped across the keys
creating magic melodies
the sound reverberating in their hearts
Her body swayed, her eyes were closed
listening to the notes composed
each depicting individual parts
The volume soared
the low notes roared
the base clef booming its own power
A distinctive change in posture
as blurred fingers summoned rapture
and the treble clef exploded in a shower
With sharps and flats the notes they flew
the meter changed to something new
each octave defining its own piece
And with a thundering applause
the respectful audience arose
except the maestro's music didn't cease
Sweat glazed the players face
then something took her place
the applause and bravos stuttered to a halt
At the keyboard sat the devil
the music's noise went up a level
bringing cries of terror in fear of the assault
The piano erupted into flame
as the devil played its game
and the souls of all attendees turned to ash
Smoke and silence filled the room
and then with laughter from the gloom
strode the devil in a display of pure panache
As it surveyed, the voice it cackled
while the fires embers crackled and
in the sulphur air hung remnants of the tune
And as it hummed the melody
souls were tallied guiltlessly
for the trip their mortal shells would be on soon
A/N: A special thanks to most_bay for the idea, and the opportunity to remember these.
