Selene Literature poem,

The first three lines are an extract from Lord Byron's poem Darkness

I had a dream, which was not all a dream
The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space.
The days seem to pass with growing fearful faith,
The town set aflame with hell's sweet fire.
Thou were there at the hour we hast fallen,
All Earth was but one thought- and that was deception.
I glazed upon that one side which thou showed me;
I had beg of thee to stop Earth's ways of treachery,
But still as thee turned away from us,
Thy figure, still of beauty shines upon our skin,
And in thy care, little light still shines and we still are here

Thou art fair, O my beloved Selene.
The Earth is nothing but a single speck,
Thou shall see thy sweetest hearts tremble
Upon such savagery which no one can compare.
Thy fair nature is all but pure,
When thy gaze upon Earth as nothing more then a fraud,
At the hour where all we could do was weep
And gnash our teeth together, our bodies flawed.
The pail of our deepest desires poured out like a stream
Too deep, too shallow, too much to even hold,
Against the palm of thy hand, which was held out,
Yet none could reach thy glory and drowned in sin.

Our father Helios has blown out the flame,
He has thrown us in the pits to play the war game,
And may I ask thee, O dearest Selene
Do thee seek to abandon us like our father did too?
Don't turn a deaf ear on us for we have waited for too long,
Our sins are our let downs, and are beginning to grow strong.
The Earth as we know it was not all that bad
Until treason came in and made people mad,
But it's thee O dear Selene, it's thee whom we love
And if thou leave us now, we will push and we'll shove.
For we are our own enemies, the Earths just a game,
Until we all fumble and fall in great shame.

The world, I could no longer see it as one
But many shattered pieces that have come undone.
And all the love and all the light and all the honesty went out of sight.
They could no longer see the uprightness of devotion to love
But their minds full of lust for the things that were unjust.
Nothing could fulfil what men has desired,
For even if man held the light of a thousand stars
Never will it ever be enough to claim it is ours.
If only we could touch the tip of our fingers
In the pool of thy light, then we may be saved.
So bless us now my dear Selene and let us rejoice in thy embrace
For it is only by thy beauty's light that the Earth shall once again be saved.
