Potc short story: Gone..
Cora sat silently in the small dingy with the rest of the crew. Eyes distant and full of grief, making even Gibbs feel sorry for her. They had just lost they're Captain by force. Jack, was gone....
"Look, I'm -" Elizabeth stuttered quietly, only to be cut off by her hard, cold glare. Something the other woman didn't normally give.
"You killed him,"... Cora said sadly, voice breaking as she rested her hand on her stomach. "Didn't even give him a chance. You don't mean your apology, so don't even bother giving it." She snapped.
Now it was Elizabeth who grew angry. "I had too! We would have all died because of Jack!" Came her harsh reply as the rest of the men just looked on. Some crossing their arms and rolling their eyes.
"Oh, so I suppose that kiss then was needed to then!? Just had to wait to snog my husband a good one , too jealous to not even let me say goodbye!? He wasn't even yours to have! And now my child will go fatherless because of you"... Ashton hung her head, looking away.
Swann went to open her mouth just then. Only to have Joshamee get between them both. "Ladies," He said nervously, holding up his hand as if in surrender. "We all feel yer pain, we really do. But it's best to not to be arguin' right now. We don't need to lose anyone else"... He turned away at that, quietly watching the horizon.
That silenced them both, and the dingy went back to being quiet. Except for the noise of the ocean lapping up against it.
Nightfall came, and they reached an unknown island. Going ashore to make camp for the evening. Cora went a few feet away from them, sighing softly as she sat down in the sand. Head resting the closest she could to her knees. As her belly was rather in the way of reaching them.
"Miss? Got a fire goin', might be warmer over there." A young boy suggested, who looked no more than seventeen.
She shook her head. "Can't go over there right now Eames, but thank you." She replied in a murmur.
He ran a hand through his hair with a nod. "If it's because of Ms. Swann , you know she meant well, just didn't do it the way she should."
She gave another sigh. "How can you say that when she killed him?".... Cora said quietly, voice sounding heartbroken again. And she didn't glance up.
Now it was Eames who sighed. "Look Miss," He told her gently. "I ain't siding on any sides. But she feels just as bad as you do, you might want to let up a bit on her. Least for now, we've have a plan to get the Captain back. An' we're gonna need every help we can get." He paused for a minute as he turned to go. "Including yers an' hers."
She nodded slowly in response, though said nothing in reply as he walked away. Would she ever forgive the woman? She didn't know.. But it'd be hard if she ever did.
For forgiveness was tough, and grief still touched her heart..
