Maddie handed her slip to the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor (Professor Finnegin) and went to take a seat next to her sister. But, she found the same girl Lena was talking with this morning next to her. "Um," the girl raised her eyebrows, "can I help you?"

Maddie glanced past her, at Lena who was intentionally looking away from the scene. "Aren't you Lena's little sister or something?" The girl shrugged. "Twin, actually. Twenty seconds older." Maddie clutched her books tighter to her chest, "And you are...?" The girl smiled widely, "Jeneva Parkenson." Maddie nodded, understandingly. The Parkensons were not good news.

"Jeneva," Professor Finnegin called out, "maybe the Chan twins would like to sit together. Would you mind taking a seat with someone else. Thank you." Jeneva and Lena exchanged eye rolls as Maddie put her books in front of Jeneva. Then, Maddie gave the professor a thankful smile.

"What was that all about?!" Maddie demanded of her twin as soon as they stepped out of the classroom. "What?" Lena shrugged as if it were not a big deal. "Lena," Maddie grabbed the sleeve of her robe, "we're in this together, right?" Lena nodded. "So, making friends with a Parkenson isn't exactly going to work out, is it?!" Maddie adjusted her books impatiently. "Neither will making friends with, perhaps, the most famous kid in school!" Lena spat and stormed down the hall.

Maddie dashes after her. "Lily Potter has been a lot more of a help to me than you have today! And so has Hugo! He actually believes in me!" "That's because he thinks your a--" Lena stopped herself, just in time. "Forget it, you noble Gryffindor! Or would you prefer brave?!"

Maddie should have felt a twinge, at the least, of guilt. A small inkling of wrong belonging when being called a Gryffindor. But now, Maddie grinned and turned to see if she could catch up with Hugo or Lily. Not caring about the Gryffindor comment.
