Chapter 6 (Travis' pov)
My phone dinged, waking me up.
Reminder: Nicole's part-hay tod-hay
I yawned and turned off my phone, plopping back into bed. I stretched my tired limbs and then hugged a pillow.
Tooooo early
I sat up and scratched my scalp, looking around my room.
I got out of bed and almost jumped back in when I felt the cold hardwood floor. I shook the thoughts and went to my closet. I opened it and picked out a white T-shirt and some black jeans. I grabbed my toiletries and a towel, along with some fresh boxers, and went into my bathroom.
I finished my shower and got dressed. I dried my hair as best as I could with the towel and threw it to the side.
I brushed my teeth and smiled in the mirror.
Handsome as ever
I slid into my kitchen and started to make some waffles. From scratch of course. My cat, devil, stared to rub against my legs.
"Oh, I gotta feed you too" I scooped some cat feed and poured it into his bowl. Devil went to eating while I went back to my waffles.
After I finished making my waffles, I ate them. I finished my breakfast and grabbed my lather jacket. I crouched down to Devil and scratched his head.
"Seeya later"
I slipped on my black boots and jumped into my car.
I drove to a small coffee house and went into the drive through.
"I'll have a medium one and one, and a medium black coffee"
"Alright, that's six fifty, please proceed to the second window"
I drove to the second window and payed the lady, taking the coffee.
I sipped my coffee as I drove to set, I placed Katelyn's coffee in the cup holder and continued the straight drive. When I got there, Katelyn was with Jeffery. My grip tightened around my cup and I took a deep breath.
Chill Trav, it's not like Katy belongs to you
It's not like she belongs to that jerk either, she doesn't belong to anyone. She isn't a possession
I shook my head and got out of the car, grabbing Katelyn's coffee before shutting the door.
As I neared them, I could hear it was an argument, so I hid behind one of the trees.
"Jeff, who is she?"
"Kate, don't sound so angry"
"Jeff. Who. Is. She."
"My....daughter..."
"Your-YOU HAVE A DAUGHTER!? SINCE WHEN?!"
"Um...well she's four s-"
"Jeffery....we've been dating for five years. So you're telling me...you SLEPT WITH SOME CHICK AND GOT HER PREGNANT?!"
"Kate-"
"Who"
"I don't know...a one night stand from when we were on a long break! I got drunk and upset, and I was vulnerable!"
"We will talk about this later"
I heard he sound of a door closing and a male sigh. I peeked to see Jeffery walking away, his hands in his pockets, and his shoulders slumped. I drew in a sharp breath.
Oops, shouldn't have heard that...
I walked through the doors and saw Katelyn sitting at a table, placing her hands in her hair and she was obviously angry. I bit my lip and slowly approached her.
I placed her coffee on the table and knocked on it.
"What" she growled
"I-I brought you some coffee"
She sighed and took a drink, and then spit it out.
"It's black coffee, I like one cream and one sugar"
"Oh! Right! Sorry I gave you mine!" I hurriedly gave her the right cup and grabbed a napkin, wiping her chin.
"What're you doing?"
"Helping clean the mess you made, moron" I chuckled. Our eyes met and I tried not to get lost, "sorry I'll pull awa-"
"It's fine" she blurted, "I appreciate the concern, thanks for the coffee"
"No problem, thought you'd need it"
An awkward silence fell between us.
"So...you going to Nicole's tonight?"
"Yup, you?"
"Yeah, bringing your boyfriend-" I slapped a hand over my mouth.
Way to go, said too much!
Maybe she'll tell us she's gonna break up with him
"Um...I plan to, we have some things to work out though"
"If you ask me he's a jerk..." I mumbled
"What was that?"
"I said you're doing good at work"
"Oh, thanks I appreciate it, so what about you, bringing any girl to the party?"
"Maybe"
I haven't been on a date in two weeks now
I don't need another girl, but Jeffery does
"Anyone I know?" She sipped her coffee and sat on the table, beside me.
"I might bring Lucinda if all goes according to plan"
I saw Katelyn's jaw lock and her grip around her coffee cup became tense like her shoulders.
That is right Katy, I chose your enemy
"Oh, lucky her" sarcasm was very evident in her angry voice.
The rest of the day was filming boring scenes, you know those small little scenes that don't progress the storyline and are irrelevant? Yeah, that's what we did all day.
I went home and when I got there dialed Lucinda's number.
"Hey Lucy!"
"Don't call me that, Travis, what do you want?"
"Wanna go on a date?"
"No"
"Let me rephrase that...wanna help me get Katelyn jealous?"
"I'm listening..."
"Nicole's throwing a party and we all have a plus one. Katelyn's bringing her boyfriend so I wanna make her jealous"
"Because?"
"Because...."
I like her
I don't have any feelings towards her! I just wanna make her confused like she does to me when she's with Jeffery.
"Cause I wanna land a date with her"
"Alright, what should I wear?"
"Something....sexy but not desperate"
"LBD?"
"What?"
"Little black dress?" She sighed
"No, something more casual but not too casual"
"Alright, I'll wear my white sumer dress with a black cardigan"
"Sounds good, pick you up at seven"
Seven rolled around and I wore the same thing I wore to work, except I did my hair a little nicer. I fed Devil and drove to Lucinda's. She was wearing what she said she would be, and got in the car ignoring my existence.
"Hello to you too" I mumbled.
I got in the front seat and we were off. When we got to Nicole's, a few cars were already there telling us that some people had already arrived. I recognized Katelyn's BMW and growled as I thought of Jeffery.
Nicole let us in and we walked into the living room.
I saw Katelyn wearing just a casual black dress.
I found myself puffing out my chest and I was absentmindedly flexing. Jeffery had an arm draped over her shoulders and was laughing.
Unbelievable
"Somebody's jealous~" Lucinda sang in my ear. I felt my face heat up and I shook my head.
"Me? Never"
"Mmhmm"
The two of us sat on the loveseat and talked with the others.
"Katelyn, I forgot to tell you, you look absolutely beautiful tonight" Jeffery mentioned. They kissed and I clenched my fists, fighting the temptation to punch his lights out.
"Lucinda, you look stunning as always" I growled through gritted teeth.
"Um...thanks..."
The party progressed and the rest of the cast joined. Soon music was blaring, and laughter filled the rooms.
Katelyn and Jeffery stood over by the punch bowl, talking and laughing. I went over to grab Lucinda and I some punch, Lucinda followed.
"Jeff, I love when you do that to your hair"
"Lucinda, you're hilarious!" I started laughing. Mine and Katelyn's backs were facing each other, but I could tell she heard.
"Jeffery, I love that shirt on you"
"Lucinda, that dress is amazing for your figure"
"Jeffery, you're so cute"
"Lucinda, you're so stunning"
"Jeffery, your smile lights up a room"
"Lucinda, you have magical eyes"
"Jeff, you're so smart"
"Lucinda, you're so witty"
By now Katelyn and I were facing each other, screaming compliments. Our dates looked confused and uncomfortable.
"Why did you bring her?" Katelyn whispered.
"Why'd you bring him?"
"He's my boyfriend!"
"Shes-"
"I think you two have to talk things out...there's some pent up anger that needs to be resolved" Jeffery placed his hands on our backs and pushed us up the stairs. Lucinda also helped with the pushing.
"Now, you're not coming out of that room until you don't want to kill each other!" Jeffery said pushing us into a bedroom.
"Jeff! Let us out!" Katelyn yelled and banged on the door with her fist.
"Not until whatever is going on between you two is resolved"
Katelyn tried opening the door, but Jeffery and Lucinda did something to keep it closed.
Katelyn crossed her arms with a huff and plopped on the bed.
I sighed and sat beside her, she glared at me.
"What?" I asked
"You had to bring Lucinda"
"What does she have anything to do with this?!"
"I hate her"
"You didn't talk to her"
"I didn't have to talk to her, I hate her"
I rolled my eyes and laid more comfortably in the bed, holding the pillow close.
"What are you doing?!"
"We obviously aren't going to be able to talk this out, so I'm taking a nap!"
Katelyn sighed and shifted in the bed.
Hours passed, and I woke up. It was three in the morning. I rolled over to see Katelyn had fallen asleep in the bed next to me. She must've rolled in her sleep, because she was facing me. Moonlight peered through the window, landing on her peaceful face.
I couldn't breathe.
She looked so beautiful when she wasn't glaring at me. Granted, she always looked beautiful, but she seemed more...innocent when she wasn't angry. I just stared at her for a little while, unable to move.
She definitely has that breathless charm.
A/N so this part was pretty long, I loved writing it. Anyways I love you all devils, byeee.
