Part 2 - A Strange Curse...

~Chilled's POV~

"Mommy! I want this thing!" The small girl cries out as she tugs onto a small doll's arm, the small doll falling with the girl's touch and falling face first onto the floor. The mother turns to the small girl and smiles, despite her exhausted lo and bags under her eyes she manages to smile a sad smile that tells the entire store what she's going through, the pain of not being able to give her daughter what she wants. Before the mother leaves I try to cry out for somebody to notice the mother's pain and the daughter's tears but nobody hears, moving along just like everyday. God damn it, why can't I just move and speak like a normal person?

"Can I have this?" a man asks, pointing to me with large dark eyes and thick dark eyebrows. The cashier moves around the counter and shakes his head, patting me roughly on the head.

"Sorry, not for sale. Just our store mascot," Ze explains and the man nods in disappointment but happily talks about something else. Just a store mascot? Come on Ze, come up with some sort of cool story telling the store about how I'm actually a magical sack boy that can have thoughts and was cursed into this body so he could only be a mascot? Ze laughs happily from behind me and if I could physically sigh in frustration I would but he doesn't even notice my sack boy-form anger. Damn it Ze, pay attention to me more! The man leaves, giving Ze a friendly wave and walks out with his hands in his pockets, a nice guy with excellent taste. Maybe I'll talk to him and become friends later if Ze would fucking move me somewhere inconspicuous.

Ze happily sips at his warm coffee, sparing a glance towards me and tilts his head in my direction poking at the fabric at my cheek. He knows I'm angry, he just wants to tease me the motherfucker. As soon as the only customer leaves, leaving us in solitude with no other customers showing signs of entering, I charge at the man shining into human form.

"You fucker, you knew I was ready to come back!" I snap and he just laughs from underneath me, pushing me off and standing up but before he could take his coffee I snatch it from him and sip happily, ignoring the burning it causes to my tongue.

"Did I make you wait? Sorry cursed boy," he teases and I roll my eyes, sending him off to the back as I steal his coffee and watch the desk. That's right I'm fucking cursed, sometimes I turn into the small sack boy from Little Big Planet wearing an awesome fucking shirt. It's the worst feeling ever, especially when you don't even remember how exactly you got cursed nor by who. I have plenty theories, angering a witch while playing the game online or maybe just upsetting the gods with my crudeness so they made me what I loved so much. Now that I think about it it's not a short list of things I've done badly in my life. This curse has been placed on me for what seems like since I was a teen, don't remember exactly when but I'm pretty sure it was teenage years. Ze returns with three plushies in his arms which he places, one an exact replica of me in that form where I had been sitting since I refuse to not take watch in our shop.

Ze and I decided to set up this cute shop because why the hell not. Basically it was the easiest thing to do after getting all the training and a nice place to get away while Ze gets done his online classes and I just improve the shop without any real telling of when I can start getting serious about my life when I randomly turn into a doll at times. Now with enough experience I can tell several hours before turning but when I was a reckless teen I went through the awkwardest situations. Luckily Ze was there to help out since back in the day and he understood the strangeness of the curse I had placed on me, at least what we both called it since back then was a curse. I nearly give up at the thought of more customers coming when I notice a woman walk past outside holding hands with a smaller girl. Quickly I grab the doll on the counter and ignore Ze's questions as I jump over the counter and dash after the two girls before they disappeared but luckily they didn't move far.

"Hey!" I call out, several people turning around, including the woman who seems shocked when she sees the doll in my hands while the little girl claps her hands and points at the doll. The woman and the little girl are both holding plastic bags around their arms filled with what seems like vegetables and anything considered groceries. The mother must have taken her to our shop to relax before going off and doing the tedious task of buying groceries.

"You wanted this right? It's fine, you can pay for it later," I say to the parent who has tears edging the rim of her eyes as the daughter cheers and takes the small doll from me. Before I could say goodbye the mother grabs onto my arm and writes her phone number onto my arm and promises she will tell me when she's ready to pay, that her husband is working on getting a better and bigger job and that he's so close to doing good. I just laugh and wave it off, waving to the two dramatically as the little girl, Alison, copies my wave holding her arm as high in the air as she can with the plastic bag dragging on her shoulder. I turn to return to the shop and I nearly jump and fall as I notice Ze is right next to me also waving happily to the two.

"You really need to stop giving our things out for free."

"It wasn't for free, I got a number," I explain, wiggling my eyebrows as I show him the number on my arm though he just rolls his eyes and turns away. "You're just jealous you didn't get a girl's number!" I shout after him, laughing when he points out it was a married girl. We enter the shop again, unsurprised that nothing had changed despite the only two people who run it left momentarily. It's a good town, hardly any crimes and kindness always going around just as I had done. I'm proud of my town and all I've done in it, it's like how you're always proud of something your hometown does even when you didn't participate. Just the natural feeling of knowing where you're from does a little better than other places.

"Gassy's in town," Ze randomly says as he takes his coat off he had put on when we left. I pause to look at him, searching his face to make sure he was serious and nothing but a serious face is worn by him.

"Seriously? We haven't seen him since we were teens, our little gang," I chuckle when I remember our small gang, we were just a bunch of brats calling ourselves the creatures. Ze also laughs and nods, showing off his phone in my face.

"Yeah, he called me. Said he was moving and needed some advice so I advised him here. Sounds like he won the lottery or something because he was okay with anywhere. Guess he's starting anew after his parents had to file bankruptcy long time ago," Ze explains and I nod slowly, remembering the tragedy when he told us this and said he had to move to richer and more capable relatives. It was soon after graduating too, Ze and I had become bummed out for a whole week and we couldn't even call him at the time because he didn't have a phone. He got a phone just a couple of years ago and made sure to call us, having kept our numbers luckily.

"Sweet, we could hang out while we're here," I suggest excitedly, recalling one of the best friends I had during high school, one my grade too since Ze has always been younger than me despite being my best friend.

"I'll text him the shop address if he wants to stop by when he comes over. He shouldn't be here until tomorrow though," Ze explains as his thumbs punch on the small keys of his iPhone. I nod, becoming more excited with the more time seconds pass until tomorrow. Seeing Gassy again will be something nostalgic, remembering stupid things like when he claimed what his nickname will be among the group and the laughter that followed. While I had gone to the "cool" approach he had gone the humorous route but it easily became something to know him as. A first name practically with the frequency we use it.

"Did you say someone was moving here?" An old man within the shop turns to us revealing himself, one of the oldest men of the town. Ze and I both nod and the old man smiles and holds his wrinkled hands together. "Oh splendid, we haven't had anybody new in a long time. I will be sure to introduce him, will you fellows introduce him to me?"

"Well he's coming with his roommates and I don't know them," Ze explains and the old man seems even happier.

"The more the merrier! I'll go tell my son," he says excitedly before he practically runs outside the shop while other women in the shop begin to whisper. The man whom the old man was with laughs after the old man and turns to us, his own age being quite high but nowhere near the old guy.

"New faces, huh? Maybe these will attract you men after you've practically rejected every woman and man in town already." Both Ze and I flinch at the statement merely at the fact that we're both single and the entire town knows it. The man laughs at our reactions and wave his hand casually in the air. "Ah save it, I'm still planning on setting either of you two up with my own daughter," he claims before waving and leaving both Ze and me speechless.

"Well...Gassy know any hot chicks?" I joke around making Ze fake shock at me.

"I thought we had something Chilled," he pouts and I just laugh and wave it off.

"I'm only in it for the goods." Ze casually punches my side making me just laugh and notice the women peeking at us and hiding their faces with blushes clearly overtaking their faces. Ze and I have been aware of the rumors going around town that the reason why we don't accept any girlfriends, or boyfriends, is because we have the hots for each other which is completely false, plus neither of us are gay but we'd never explain it because so many girls' dreams would be ruined in town. Both Ze and I glance each other then look away only fueling the girls' screams as they run out the door, the moment they're our Ze and I bursting into laughter.

The laughter isn't long lived because I feel my insides churning and my mind completely becomes blank, the typical signs that I'm changing again. Ze notices my change and nods for me to leave, which I do as I enter the back room of the shop and feel my insides deflate and become emptier, becoming replaced with fluff. It's not an unpleasant feeling but I wouldn't call it pleasant, lucky more than anything. It's lucky that it isn't painful like werewolves seem to be in watching every werewolf movie out there. This is just a joke curse afterall, who would expect a full grown man to turn into a plushie after all? It's the worst fucking joke ever.

Just like usual after fully sitting adorably on the small chair Ze comes into the room and sees me right away, and just like usual has the snicker on his face mocking me. Why can't he just be a good boy and place me on the counter without the unnecessary smile? I wish I could at least talk in this form, not only would it be fun to scare little kids but I could tell Ze off whenever he's making an annoying expression. Ze picks me up by the waist and carries me to the front counter, replacing the fake me with me and pats my head, making me wish to tell him off once again. Ze probably knows all of this stuff he does annoys me so he purposely does it, not that I mind because if he were to turn into a doll I'd probably make fun of him a fuck ton more than he does to me. Instead he sticks his tongue out at me and turns to a customer who asks about a certain plushie. God damn witches and their curses...
