A scent of Balsam in the air

The sound of laughter everywhere

Music played the Christmas songs that we all sung

Stars and angels topped the trees

Dazzling lights and tinsel pleased

Coloured balls and candy canes from branches hung

At the mantel were the stockings we knew old Saint

Nick would fill. In the morning, eyes like saucers, all the

little kids would thrill

On the artificial snow skirt beneath the Christmas tree,

all wrapped in fancy paper, lay the gifts - including one

for you and me

At this time, just once each year

The world can pause awhile to hear

The peace of love and joy our hearts all have to say

A birth we share and celebrate

A message from a babe - we contemplate -

That once lay swaddled in a manger far away
