Who Am I?
Prompt: write a poem describing yourself through an analogy or a metaphor
All of my component parts
I believe are common enough
Flesh and blood, gristle and bone
All the usual stuff
But to find just one description
That can explain the complex whole
Requires too much thinking
And always takes a toll
You take or leave, at your discretion,
That who I am is who you see
I have no agendas hidden
Nothing on which the world need agree
But for me, the best description I can find,
Are these few short words that will suffice
In a statement I happily deem so true -
Aged men are children twice!
A/N: From the Latin phrase - Bis pueri senes
old men are twice children
