They shaved one of your paws
To put in an IV
They gave you medicine
Oxygen to breathe

Mom sat waiting for hours
Then left you overnight
As you slept sedated
The next morning
She picked you up

There's nothing anyone can do
You won't get better
It's all anyone can do
To stave heart failure away

You must take your medication
The vet is aware of the ER trip
We watch and hope for the best
At least we know you're still with us
