Some people think that work is the most important thing of people’s life. Without the success of career, life becomes meaningless. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
A truly good life mainly depends on intangibles such as love, or beauty. From my point of view, I am partly in favour of the idea that work is the most important factor that shapes a meaningful life.
On the one hand, a sustainable job somehow makes our life satisfying. Employees can afford daily fees and enjoy their life in a better way thanks to the success of career. For example, a successful businessman can live in a luxurious condition or travel abroad thanks to his prosperous asset. Therefore, work is essential for us to meet our material necessities to enrich our life.
On the other hand, work is not enough to make us live a meaningful life to some extent. To begin with, work takes up the bulk of our time and energy, leaving comparatively little for earning a good life. To cite an example, some employees have to work overtime for a long process to have higher salary, get high promotion or complete their work task. As a consequence, they easily have mental illness such as depression or stress on account of their overloaded work and sedentary lifestyle. Furthermore, the success of career has made a little contribution to our living well. Employees especially people who have accomplished job achievement cannot have enough time to maintain relations with the others or cherish their soul with music, beauty of nature or interesting books. Therefore, even though employees have achieved abundance in material goods or had a job satisfaction, they are incapable of enjoying it properly or profoundly comprehending what a meaningful life is.
In conclusion, a good life is a goal that most people have aimed to. From my point of view, people can form their happy life through various elements. Therefore, I partly agree with the school of thought that the success of career has been considered as the most instrumental factor to live a useful life.
