Part 107: Getting Help
Mirko coughed on black stuff. "Where is this?"
"Not that far away...what the h--- was that?" Shigaraki was livid.
"I believe it's called getting away..." Mirko said crossly "D---it! I can't believe I walked right into that...now what..."
"I meant the whole part about...are you an idiot?"
"Looks that way, for not seeing that one coming," Mirko was not really listening to him. "I could call...no...that won't work...err..."
Then she looked up. "Oh...you brought me with you...huh...didn't expect that."
"What? Oh like just waiting for them to shoot us was going to work."
"You know what I mean..." Mirko looked around. "We're not safe here though, they'll find us...I hate to say it...but...it's down to my least favorite option, calling in back up."
Shigaraki decided he'd sort this out later. "Well we can't call the LOV."
"Like I'd want to! As far I'm concerned you can just go off, the deal's over, obviously," Mirko said. "I'd beat you up, but it's a waste of my time right now. So you can just leave. I'll handle this."
"Oh 'cause you're doing so great so far!" Shigaraki was surprisingly mad at this.
Sure, he didn't want to be involved but no way was he just letting some hero tell him he couldn't be! That was just arrogant!
"I'm still alive, aren't I?" Mirko brushed it off. "I'm sure it'll all work out just fine. Once I figure out my next step."
"You next step is obviously to call Likstar! idiot."
"That's...just what I was going to do..." Mirko said. Now miffed. "But now I'm not so sure I should."
"Why not?"
"Well if you're saying it, it's probably a bad idea."
Shigaraki scowled. "That's just what a hero would say."
"All right don't blow a fuse...there's also the ugly little possibility that she may still be mad..." Mirko said. "But..." she paused. "Then again...I dunno...she wouldn't agree with those guys, though...I'm sure she wouldn't."
"Are you mad? Likstar would never agree with those hacks," Shigaraki was mad now. "It's insulting even to suggest it."
"Did I ask you?" Mirko said heatedly. "No, I guess I'll just have to call her."
She pulled out her phone. "Shut up while I'm talking."
Shigaraki almost blew a fuse.
"Hello? Hi...yes it's me," Mirko rolled her eyes at the phone. "No, I'm not apologizing, shut up...I may have a bit of a problem here...oh don't sound so happy about it, you sick freak--Yes you were! Anyway, you know that cult...yeah, I need a lift, maybe your stupid boyfriend can help...no, someone else is here too, but I'm sure he'll be leaving, " with a pointed glare at Shigaraki.
That just made him madder.
"You can tell Likstar I am not going anywhere," he snapped. "I'm going to talk to her also! And tell her all of this was your fault."
"Oh like he--" Mirko glared at him. "What?" to the phone. "Oh, yeah it was him...no, that's not what's happening...Just freaking pick us up! Or come here, I don't care which... Great!" she hung up.
"It was not my fault," she said like nothing had happened. "And she won't believe you anyway."
"Oh, let's just test that theory," Shigaraki retorted.
Shine arrived a second later. Using a portal.
"You can...do that?" Mirko said.
"All better...oh should I have told you that? Sorry," Shine smiled. "Hello Shigaraki."
"Cut the crap, Likstar," Shigaraki said. "We have a real problem, that this pro started."
"I didn't do anything," Mirko said.
Shine looked from one to the other. "You said the cult from the camp was involved...Rumi, there had better be a really good explanation coming.
* * *
The explanation wasn't great because both parties interrupted each other constantly trying to give it-- and spin it to their own side.
But Shine finally pieced it together.
"So...Rumi...you got caught...and they wanted the LOV."
Mirko nodded.
"And you didn't agree to that..." Shine said.
"Why would I?" Mirko said.
Shine smiled "And now...you're in trouble, and you want me to bail you out."
"I wouldn't go that far," Mirko said.
"That's exactly right," Shigaraki said, just to annoy her. "I, on the other hand, think I'm the victim here."
"It sure sounds like it," Shine said dryly, but sincerely. "But you are worried if you go to the league they'll go after all of them too."
"Yes...if they haven't already." Shigaraki said.
"Well... I think it would be prudent to make sure of that," Shine said. "I think I can help with that...but the two of you are both targets now...like it or not, I think you're stuck in this situation."
They didn't look happy about that.
"I'll help you two of course," Shine said. "But I can't possibly do this alone. I'm going to call Wally. Try not to kill each other while I'm on the phone."
She walked a few feet away and dialed.
The hero and villain sulkily said nothing at first, but after about 60 seconds Mirko sighed. "What is taking her so long?"
Nothing.
"I bet they're looking for us right now...we're exposed out here."
Still nothing.
"I wonder how many more of them were around the area."
"Oh will you shut up!" Shigaraki finally exploded--though in a whiny way, so it wasn't that impressive.
"I can talk if I want to, dips---," Mirko said.
"I swear if it wasn't an emergency, I'd kill you right now," Shigaraki said.
"Oh that's real overconfident isn't it?" Mirko said. "We both know you wouldn't win."
"Maybe you're overconfident. I've killed more powerful people than you, you're just a rabbit on steroids." Shigaraki was proud of that, sounded like a Dabi insult.
Mirko wasn't impressed. "That was real creative. And what are you but a weirdo who happens to have a powerful quirk that's gone to his head? You're not skilled at using it, that's why you rely on nomu."
"I rely on--I mean I don't rely on nomu because of that, it's just more fun that way," Shigaraki said.
"Oh, so it's just a big game? Do you ever think about the fact that you're killing real people, with families?" Mirko shot back. "That's not a game! They don't get to regenerate after the end of the round."
That retort actually made him hesitate because he was recalling something unpleasant.
Shine returned to them. "He's coming, but he's going to do something first. Now, we should get out of the open, don't you think?...Uh oh, what did you say?"
She could tell.
"Nothing," Mirko lied. "Let's go."
Shine sighed and then portalled them all to a roof. "Not my choice, but it beats being spotted. We should be very far from them now. Wally knows this roof too, I met Dabi up here once."
"What?" Shigaraki said.
"How do you know that guy again?" Mirko was bored enough to ask.
"Attacked me at UA, we met up again and made it a regular thing for while till he told me to get packing," Shine sounded a bit nonplussed.
"Oh, so he finally did, huh?" Shigaraki said, being about as tactful as Shine. "That's what all that was about. I wondered why he didn't want to talk to you."
Shine looked sad. "Poor, stupid, confused man..."
"Stupid maybe, but why are you pitying him?" Mirko said.
"Rumi, not in the mood for you to tell me I'm stupid again," Shine said.
Mirko wasn't in the mood for her sass. "Let's change the subject then: Do you know anything more about what these Originals might think? They mentioned a lot of stuff that sounded like you...Sin, God, that kind of crap."
Shine didn't seem to understand at first. "You mean their cult stuff? I'm not surprised. Most cults have some kind of deity claim."
"Yeah, but what's funny is that both of you don't like quirks too much, do you?" Mirko said.
Now it was clear what she was implying...
Shigaraki didn't like Shine too much, but he would have been insulted if he were her, so it didn't surprise him that she got real still and serious.
"Are you asking me if I'm like that?" She said in a dreadful voice.
Mirko's ears twitched like she picked up on that tone being a bad sign. "I mean...not exactly. I guess it could look bad though, you're around, they're around...they didn't bother you at the camp."
"I didn't have opportunity to talk to them then, I was being tortured, remember?" Shine's anger was unmistakable now.
"Well, sure..." Mirko said.
"Pros are so stupid," Shigaraki sighed.
"You shut up, I didn't ask you," She said.
"Oh, don't talk to him like that," Shine snapped at her, surprising her. "What right do you have to say that? I might just as well ask you if you're connected to them, seems they like you."
"I would never work with people like that," Mirko said.
"I have only your word to prove that," Shine said. "And I cannot believe you implied what you just did. You've been rude before, but I've never actually been hurt by anything you've said like just now...I'm going to need a moment." She rubbed her face and turned to stare at the city.
"What?" Mirko didn't get it.
Shigaraki rolled his eyes.
"Well, do you know?" she asked him saltily.
"I don't know much about this sort of thing, but I'm pretty sure friends aren't supposed to accuse each other of things like that." Shigaraki went out on a limb.
"Friends?" Mirko said. "Look," she looked at Shine too. "I'm not in a position right now to trust anyone. Don't take it so personally. I have to question everything."
Shine looked back at her. "If so, I wonder why you called me at all. Just to interrogate me? I'm humiliated...but I'll stay, because Shigaraki needs my help, or I might just leave you here...no, I wouldn't do that...but I'd be a lot harsher..."
"Hey, don't go easy on her on my account, feel free to take a shot," Shigaraki crossed his arms.
"Don't tell me what to do," Shine's eyes flashed at him. "I'm not getting in the middle of your stupid feud. Thank you very much. You both give me enough crap separately as it is."
Shigaraki had the self preservation instinct to at least shut up after that.
Mirko wasn't sure she should push Shine any more. She didn't like the look in her eye.
She also felt a little guilty...maybe she'd gone too far there...
The truth was, projecting on to Shine was the only way she had of dealing with the fear the Originals brought up in her, it wasn't like anything she'd ever experienced with any other villains. Something about them was just so...unnerving...Petrifying even. Perhaps doubled by the fact that they were quirkless and still that threatening.
Likstar claimed to be quirkless too.
"What's your deal about quirks then?" She blurted. "And heroes...how is it different?"
Shigaraki just gave her a look like "you really have a death wish don't you?"
Then shrugged. He didn't care.
Shine looked at Mirko oddly. "You're still asking me...oh...wait...I see...you're scared."
What gave it away? Mirko was sure she'd sounded as bold as ever--but her eyes widened at the accusation, and that just confirmed it.
"What did you see back there?" Shine asked in much calmer tone. "Tell me."
Mirko hesitated. "I...well, might as well show you then," she puled up the pictures on her phone.
Shine took one look at the ritual and the crowd, and her face got very tight.
"What's so horrifying about that?" Shigaraki asked. "It's not that different from Toga."
Shine looked at him. "And your point is...?"
"Nevermind," he muttered.
"And what did they say?" Shine asked Mirko.
Mirko repeated as much of it as she could remember--not a whole lot, she'd kind of blocked it out.
"Renouncing quirks?" Shine said. "Wow...hmm, I have heard things like this before...so they consider quirks as sin, huh...well...some quirks are sinful to use, I'm sure, but you can't equivocate being born with one as sin, it's not like the person had a choice."
Shigaraki looked up at that, but said nothing.
"But that's a fine line, isn't it?" Mirko said. "It'd be easy to jump from that to quirks are just evil...and can't you block quirks?"
"To protect myself, temporarily, but the idea there is that I simply cannot be hurt by them, not to remove them" Shine said. "I'm sure it sounds the same to you, but trust me it works very differently...I have been able to help people get rid of powers in the past, but they have to choose it, I can't force it out of them. Quirks are a tricky thing anyway, magic is easier."
"What?" Mirko said. "Magic isn't real..."
"And quirks would have been considered real 100 years ago?" Shine countered. "You're somebody's fiction, honey. Just a picture on a bedroom wall or a comic book up until the last era. You think magic is any different? It's totally real, I should know...but let's hope it's not an issue here...but in a cult, it usually is."
"Just what are you getting at, Likstar?" Shigaraki said.
Shine frowned. "I mean...let's say...well your quirk could be removed by cutting off your hands, sure. But what about mental quirks? I know a kid who can brainwash people. To my mind, the only way to remove his quirk would be to use magic of some sort. Hypnotism...maybe? Unless you have an All For One handy...and that brings me to another point I've been thinking of since you told me...isn't this something AFO would be interested in? How is it you've never heard of them, Shigaraki?"
That was actually a good question, and Mirko wondered why it hadn't occurred to her before, she looked at the villain suspiciously. If he'd been lying this whole time, she'd end him!
But he was apparently genuinely surprised.
"Well...Master doesn't tell me everything..." he admitted. "But he probably didn't know about them either. It's not like I can ask him."
"I highly doubt he'd have missed something like this," Shine said. "Why wouldn't he tell you?"
She tilted her head. "He knew about the Metas, I'm sure."
"Who told you that?" Shigaraki asked.
"No one, but why wouldn't he? He's part of the underground...and for that matter, since no one knows who he is expect a select group of people (which you're not even a part of really) than he must be getting his power from somewhere...how did he collect quirks? Come on, this doesn't sound suspicious to you?"
It sounded all too plausible in fact.
Mirko snapped her fingers. "You think if he knew these guys, they sacrifice people's quirks to him maybe?"
"All I know is AFO would know about them," Shine said.
She looked at Shigaraki.
He didn't even know where AFO got his quirks, he'd never asked. Only the doctor would know that.
"All this is just you guessing," he hedged.
"Then prove me wrong," Shine said.
"How am I supposed to do that?" He said.
Before Shine could answer, her partner appeared.
"All right, what'd I miss?" Wally asked.
"Oh, just that AFO is probably behind some weird cult, and we don't know how." Shine said.
"So nothing unusual then?" Wally jibed.
Mirko laughed, Shigaraki didn't.
"Why do we need this buffoon here anyway?" He snapped.
"My partner will be extremely helpful to us if you want to be able to outrun your new headhunters," Shine said pointedly. "And he doesn't tire as fast as me, so how about you show some gratitude for him agreeing to help you at all."
"Yeah, creepy guy, I dont normally help out villains" Wally said.
He glanced at Mirko. "Number 5..."
"West," she said tightly.
Shigaraki didn't argue the point. "Well, is he going to help us figure out how to permanently kick them from our server?"
"To...huh?" Wally said.
"Kill them," Mirko translated impatiently. "Or at least beat them into submission."
"You don't know what a server is?" Shine said to Wally.
"I'm from the 90s, computer terms are still kind of vague..." Wally said. "I still don't know what giga stuff is."
"Gigahertz, gigabytes...no one knows what is is, Wally, we just know they cost money to use," Shine said.
"I don't even know what you're talking about," Mirko said.
"You probably have an unlimited data plan, since you're a hero," Shine said. "So you wouldn't...the point is, all of us are from different timelines aren't we, so technology metaphors are a little tricky."
"Can we get back to the subject," Shigaraki was impatient. "What about the League?"
"Oh I already told them what was up," Wally said. "And they had a message...uh, let's see what was it...Dabi told me to tell you that you should use us and not the pros...and Compress said something about the theater, I think he meant that you should be careful not to get taken in...and Toga said...actually I'm not sure I should repeat it..." He glanced at Mirko uncomfortably.
"It was about cutting me, right," she guessed.
Wally nodded.
Mirko made a face.
"And Spinner said to remember what Stain would do."
"Spinner is too hung up on that," Shigaraki grumbled. "None of this is helpful. Why didn't they just say they'd move."
"Oh, they did that too," Wally said. "And then Dabi asked if you wanted a nomu...I wasn't sure I should pass that on."
Silence.
"You know...we might need the back up," Mirko shocked them by saying.
"What?" Shine was horrified. "We can't use those things."
"Look I know it's revolting...but they're already made, and we're low on options...who cares if they get their quirks stolen, right?" Mirko said. "Aren't they just cannon fodder."
"That's a ridiculously narrow way to look at them," Shigaraki said. "They're pawns. Tools."
"Would it be wrong?" Wally looked at Shine.
"What? Of course it's wrong," Shine said. "Using them is like saying we don't care about it if it suits us, we are not going to be like the Pros--oh...sorry," glanced at Mirko.
"You're right..." Wally said, shaking his head. "I don't know why I said that...sorry."
Mirko shrugged. "Well...I just don't see it that way. Shouldn't we use any advantage, these guys outnumber us 1000 to one at least."
"We're not using them," Shigaraki surprised them all by saying. "They aren't available at the moment."
They all looked at him oddly.
Shine sighed. "Good, that settles that."
Shigaraki shrugged.
But the truth was, he actually hadn't talked to the doctor about using a nomu since the last time he had. The fact that he knew so little about them after what Likstar had said...well, it just seemed embarrassing to have to admit that and ask about it. So he'd avoided it. Not like they'd really needed one anyway.
"I'm not sure even I can take on a whole cult," Wally said humbly. "Not since WWII..."
[Comment if you got the JLA reference]
"What about our rules, anyway?" Shine mused. "We can't just throw those to the wind...we can assist the two of you, but we can't stop them directly ourselves. That makes it your call."
Mirko and Shigaraki stared at them.
"I didn't even want to be a part of this," Shigaraki said.
"You think I know what to do?" Mirko said.
"Well, you're the pro hero right, we don't tell you what to do," Wally said a bit meanly.
Shine put a hand on his arm.
Mirko frowned. "Look, I'm one of the best, but even I can't fight a whole army if I can't find them."
"You should get more back up," Shine said. "And we should have some plan. They'll be looking for the two of you both...and sooner or later, we'll have to face them, but we ought to know more about it first. If I may, I have a few ideas about that."
"Well, go on" Shigaraki gestured impatiently. "Why do you always pause like that, it's so annoying."
"Because I need your permission to help," Shine said without hesitation. "Why else would I ask? It's not for courtesy. Anyway, I think you should ask Hawks."
"Why Hawks?" Mirko said. "I don't want Hawks involved. That's why I didn't tell him about this."
"I thought it was because he was holding out on you," Shine said.
Mirko flipped her off. "That too...and so are you."
"Well, it maybe time to let that secret go, I guess he'll have to decide," Shine said. "Or Shigaraki can, I suppose..."
Shigaraki scowled. "No."
"See, this is not going to work," Mirko crossed her arms. "I don't trust him, and he doesn't trust me. Why does he need to be here at all? Just the two of you is fine."
"We need him," Shine insisted.
"Do we?" Wally said.
"Hey!" Shigaraki said. "Don't talk about me like I'm not here."
"I have a strong feeling Shigaraki is necessary here, and I also don't want to leave him unguarded, if he's their main target," Shine said. "Rumi, for all intents and purposes, just think of him as a civilian. Bad people are after him, right? It's your job to protect people."
Mirko huffed.
"That idea makes me sick just thinking about it," Shigaraki said in disgust.
"Well, that's true though," Wally said. "Can't let them get him...but that means teamwork right. Mirko's least favorite word."
"What is your problem?" She said.
"To keep it brief: Your attitude." Wally said.
"Wally!" Shine said. "Don't start now, they're bad enough. Do you want to make me the only one trying to get along here?"
Wally sighed.
"Doesn't seem like you're even all that intent on helping," Shigaraki said slyly. "That's not very heroic, is it West? Could it be your less noble than you try to come across?"
So he did this to everyone, Mirko thought, annoyed.
Wally frowned. "Hey, I'm just sick of everyone attacking Shine all the time."
"Is that really it? Or are you sick of people not treating you like a hero?" Shigaraki said.
He actually hit upon something there, without meaning to.
Wally flinched. "That's...ridiculous..."
"Is it?" Shigaraki could tell he'd struck a nerve. "Maybe you really were a pro once, huh? Miss all the acclaim? No one at UA takes you seriously do they? They think you're a problem."
"No they don't," Wally said hesitantly.
"I'm sure they do, probably just a clown like everyone else--" Shigaraki suddenly stopped.
Shine had rammed her sword into his torso. Naturally, it didn't hurt him, but it was never not a shock to see that.
Mirko almost choked on air.
"Hey," Shine said in a tight voice. "If you want to survive the next 24 hours, maybe you should start taking him seriously. I don't want to have to ask you again. Is that clear?"
Shigaraki tired to yank her sword out of her hands. "Don't you threaten me, Likstar, I'm not scared of swords."
Shine let go of the hilt with a very smug look.
Shigaraki fell on his back like the weight of the sword became monumental.
"Ow...what the h---...? Get this thing off of me!"
Mirko poked it. [Anyone else wonder if she's ADD] "What, does it hurt or something?" She taunted.
"Enough," Shine lifted it up with ease. "You see it's a bit more of a burden than you might think. I don't want to need to use force. Please don't make me resort to it, Shigaraki. We all need to treat each other with respect. I'm well aware you haven't the slightest clue what that means, but I'm gong to need you to at least try. And that starts with not making snide remarks like you just did to belittle other people who are trying to help you. Don't do the enemy's job for him, first rule of winning a fight."
"I hate you," Shigaraki spat, sitting up. "You think you're above everyone."
"I'm sure you don't really mean that," Shine said. "Or you wouldn't have called me. Stop lying. It only makes me pity you."
Shigaraki winced like that actually had an effect. "Why you...you're so..."
"Incorrigible?" Shine suggested.
"Annoying!"
"I know. How about we call Hawks now before this gets more ridiculous."
"On it," Mirko said. She wanted to get on with the whole thing.
* * *
While they waited for Hawks to arrive, all four of them went to different corners of the roof. Allegedly, to keep watch but really they just didn't want to talk to each other.
Wally and Shine talked more though, switching corners.
Wally, now that he had a chance to think, was kind of downcast.
"Don't mind what Shigaraki said, he's made of of 80% spite," Shine said. "And the other 20% is usually regret of some form, I think."
"It's not what he said," Wally said. "It's what I wanted to do...you know, I was almost ready to say we should use those nomu...or resort to some other method... I mean what's wrong with me?" He rubbed his head. "I should know that's wrong...a horrible thing to say...when did I stop noticing that...have I been here too long?"
"Away from our sources of renewel, our support groups, our church..." Shine said. "I think it's been hard on us both. Me with my doubt...you with feeling like you can never do enough...but Wally, stop measuring yourself by the Flash. Here, you are not the Flash. You are Wally West. Regular guy with powers, like everyone else here, almost. And my partner...and most importantly, someone on a different kind of mission. You can't be the hero." She smiled. "But it's not about you, okay? You don't have to save the day...just what's in front of us. What we can do. Big or small. I'm sure we'll need you eventually for something really big, but look what you've done so far. Saved plenty of us, and me, scores of times. It matters. And who else would be wiling to help me help villains so easily? I really appreciated you backing me up with Dabi, by the way, I think I forgot to tell you that...so it's okay."
She patted his shoulder. "I know you would realize it was wrong with or without me...I think we all have our moments of wanting to compromise, don't we? But you're always the one who keeps everyone on track. You don't need me to tell you that. It was a passing thought, that's all."
"You think so?" Wally looked up hopefully. "You really...I mean...I've not changed too much?"
"I don't think you have," Shine said. "I just think...both of us are used to being...well...able to do a lot more in a lot less time...but here's what I think, that maybe we were humbled for a reason. We were put in a bottom position to work our way up, because there are some things you only learn that way. We've been treated like villains, even by our friends, but so was Jesus...there are some things you can only learn by being hated. I don't mean having haters, I mean...literally, everyone just rejecting you and accusing you...that's never happened to you before, and it's happened to me only on a smaller scaled than here...and I've hated it...so much." She got a little emotional there. "But still...I would never have understood the LOV so well if not for that. I see why they're bitter...yet I see why heroes are so wary of them, I understood both sides. If we'd known it all...if you'd been able to solve everything...we'd just be another set of arrogant heroes, wouldn't we?"
Wally nodded slowly. "I...never thought of it like that...wow...you're right...I would never get it...It sucks to be hated, doesn't it? I almost feel bad for those suckers."
"You do feel bad for them...stop trying to shield me, that's the only reason you're having a hard time," Shine insisted. "You're naturally far more easygoing than I am. You can't tell me you'd mind so much if it wasn't personal."
"Sunshine, that's kind of when I do mind though...I get it, villains are just people...and heroes aren't perfect...but if I can't even keep them off of one person...I mean...what's the use of being the Flash?"
"So don't be The Flash," Shine hugged him. "Just be my partner, huh. We'll share the burden, instead of trying to stop it. That's the best thing to do...I'm afraid I can't keep being so protective of you either...it won't fly with everyone. It could only provoke some of them."
"That's true...but I don't like that sound of it," Wally said.
"I know...I don't either." Shine sighed. "But I'm being realistic."
"Okay..." Wally said. This was what he liked about her, right? That she didn't care about the superhero title...but it was hard sometimes, to let go of that.
He thought maybe he should be nicer to bunny girl. She probably had the same problem right? He should know it was hard not to be in control.
(Wally really was nicer than most pros, who would not have made that allowance at all for someone else)
* * *
Actually, the DJs didn't know that their two companions were listening to everything they'd just said-- at least what was loud enough to be overheard...which for Mirko was everything.
Shigaraki hadn't cared about the mushy stuff, but he felt strange when Shine described being treated like a villain...he hadn't given that much thought. But they were treated very much the same. How could she be so calm? How did that not make her livid? Hateful? What planet was she even from?
Mirko wondered if it was referring to her...against her will, she was beginning to feel kind of guilty.
I mean, is that what they thought? She asked herself. Is that how they think I treat them? But that's silly, I don't...
She glanced up.
Then again...how many times had she done things to them because she thought they were suspicious?...A lot... now that she thought about it.
Somehow, just hearing them talk to each other was far more effective than any one on one lecture would have been...because it was so different, the way they were not on guard... not pretending...not trying to keep up a show for the other person.
Mirko had actually never seen anyone be so vulnerable before. Even with their partner. It just wasn't the way. It was unprofessional.
Well, not like they cared about that a smidge really...
She supposed it worked for them, maybe complaining about it was a waste of time right now...
[Wow, she can be taught?! Miracles happen!
