Part 146: Bakugo kabedons Camie
Friday finally arrived and the students got ready for Shiketsu. They were coming to UA this time around.
A new simulation was ready in the USJ.
With so many new students, Aizawa asked Shine and Wally to help supervise. Eri was left with Mirio for the morning. He was happy to watch her.
Shine was going to watch anyway, so she was glad of the excuse.
The Shiketsu students arrived around 10 am, looking raring to go.
Yoarshi enthusiastically greeted Todoroki, who put up with it with a surprising amount of tolerance. After the months he'd had, Yoarshi was just not even on his radar of what to be annoyed about.
He stole some glances toward Momo, but he was still not sure what he was going to do, so he didn't talk to her. She was avoiding eye contact too.
Jiro thought it was dumb.
Bakugo waited for Camie to appear out of her class. But when he saw her he was rather stunned.
Camie wasn't hurt or anything, but she wasn't wearing any make up, and her hair and outfit looked like they were just passable under the uniform. She would have looked normal compared to anyone else, but compared to her usual self who put in the extra effort to look glamorous, it didn't look right at all.
No one in her class seemed to have noticed this. They kind of ignored her. She followed Yoarshi, as usual, who acted normal enough.
Camie also didn't come right up and say hi to Bakugo.
That did it for him. He stalked over. "Too good to answer me?" he said snippily.
Camie faked a smile. "Hey, bro..." She glanced around warily, trying to look nonchalant about it.
Bakugo didn't see anyone around to be worried about. Shishikura was off with some other chick...the one with the freaky quirk. She'd been at the city too. She was just chewing gum and saying something to him.
"What the h--- has been going on with you?" Bakugo said in a lower voice, "Everyone's been tripping out over it."
"Nothing, fahm." Camie pulled her hat lower over her face. "I've just been really slammed this month. Sorry about not coming, but ya know, I had a lot of homework. I was getting behind."
"And you didn't just ask me for help?"
"Like, I didn't want to bother you."
"Since when?"
"Baku, please," Camie suddenly sounded kind of desperate, "just drop it. I don't really want to b---- about anything right now." She walked away.
That was...bizarre.
Bakugo walked back to Shine. "Something is definitely wrong."
"I'll be keeping my eyes open," Shine promised him, "If you get any clue, you just let us know when you get the chance."
She patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, Katsuki. With all of us on the job, it's bound to come out."
"Who the frick was worried? She's just pissing me off by lying about it," Bakugo said.
Shine sighed. "Yeah, I feel ya... Well, better go kick some rear." She smiled.
"As if I didn't know that..." Bakugo walked off, kind of smirking. Shine always knew what to say.
Shoto glanced at Camie. He wasn't totally out of it to the point where he wasn't worried about her too, but to his very unobservant self, she seemed normal. He didn't see any problem. Maybe it was just a false alarm...
To Momo, Camie seemed quiet and didn't come up and say hi--that was really weird.
But she had to focus on getting ready for training.
The Shiketsu girls joined them in the locker room, which was sort of awkward, but some of them were friendly enough.
"I love your costume," one said to Ochaco.
"Oh, thanks." She rubbed her hair nervously.
"Oh, sorry." Someone else had stepped on Tohru's foot.
"S'okay. Happens all the time." Tohru sounded pained. "They just never see me there..."
"Yeah." The girl thought that was a joke, but Tohru didn't laugh.
Momo put on her costume and adjusted her hair.
"Yaoyurozu, right?" the dark haired girl with a bun said, filing her nails.
"Oh, uh, yes," Momo said.
Camie looked over her shoulder toward them.
"Kali Moto. Don't know if you remember me," the girl nodded, "Got the creation quirk, right?"
"Yes," Momo said.
"Cool. Must be nice, being so versatile," Moto said.
"I have been told I'm lucky," Momo said, "Though it can be a challenge also."
"I'm sure it is... I wonder what my quirk would do to yours," Moto said.
Momo remembered her quirk working previously... It was pretty terrifying.
"I don't know..." she said.
"Works different for different people," Moto said, "But hey, sorry in advance if I take you down, Sweetheart."
The way she said Sweetheart seemed kind of like a threat, Momo thought. She must just be one of those kinds of girls.
"It's just how we train," Momo said.
She didn't force a smile though, like she might have months ago. Making a really good impression on Moto was not on her agenda today if Camie was in trouble.
She nodded and walked away from Moto.
"Hmm..." Moto said.
She saw Camie looking and smiled at her.
Camie shoved her bag aside and walked out.
* * *
Once they headed to the USJ, Shine sat near Camie to listen to her conversation and try to talk to her.
Camie put in headphones and didn't talk... Rather unusual. She always annoyed people by talking incessantly to them.
Shine frowned.
At the USJ, the teachers on duty, Aizawa, Midnight, and Present Mic, divided the students up.
"We're just going to have the classes compete directly this time," Aizawa said, "They're going to try to capture a flag. It's supposed to be like retrieving a weapon... We attached a time bomb to it."
"You...attached a real bomb?" Wally said.
"Don't be stupid, West. It's just a small one like the land mines," Aizawa said.
"Never know with you," Wally muttered, "But could it hurt them?"
"I'd say only if they stood right on top of it. It's mostly just light and smoke." Midnight ran a hand through her hair. "So don't sweat it, Mr. West."
Shine glared at her.
"What? That wasn't inappropriate," Midnight said.
"You make everything sound inappropriate," Shine said.
"I'd take that as a compliment if I didn't know you better," Midnight said snidely.
"Don't start, you two," Aizawa warned, "I'll separate you just for some peace an quiet. Midnight, you take the ship section. Likstar, watch the earthquake one. If something goes wrong there, you'll be more useful anyway. West, you take the collapsed city. Mic..."
Wally winked at Shine and dashed away.
Shine headed out to wait for the first batch of students.
They were divided into groups of 8, four from each class to battle each other, and put in each section at different points.
Things went pretty much standard for the first 30 minutes.
Shine didn't even see much of the action up until the two teams in her area started. And she was out of luck-- Camie wasn't with them.
But she did see the one girl-- Moto-- and Shishikura, with two others she didn't know the names of.
She watched Moto closely.
She'd thought so before, but something about that girl just bothered her. Whether it was her gothic style, her constant attitude like she was bored with everyone, or just the look in her eyes, she rubbed Shine the wrong way.
But she'd never spoken to her much before, so she didn't know a lot about her.
Shishikura spotted Shine. "There's a supervisor," he said to Moto.
Moto looked over and cracked her gum. "So I see... I don't think she's part of the sim. She's just making sure we don't die."
"Right," Shishikura said.
"Ah, look, our prey," Moto said.
The other two classmates noticed too.
Bakugo and Momo along with Tokoyami and Ojiro were in that group. (The teachers had really just picked names out of a hat for this simulation.)
"Well, I'd like a chance to flatten Bakugo again," Shishikura said, smiling.
"Sure," Moto said. Eyeing them.
The other two were stoked to go up against such strong students too, save for Ojiro, who they didn't really remember at all from before.
The UA team saw them right then. Bakugo grinned. "This'll be fun."
Momo didn't hesitate as the other two Shiketsu students charged in. She threw nets over both of them.
Neither of them had long range quirks.
"Lame." Moto flexed her fingers.
"Typical," Shishikura said, "I'd expect more from our classmates."
"Ah, never mind," Moto said, "We can finish these four off."
Tokoyami rushed to restrain the ones in the net further, so they wouldn't get out.
Ojiro launched himself at Shishikura.
"Hey, Tail Man! Stay the frick away from him!" Bakugo yelled at him, too late.
Shishikura easily caught Ojiro and turned him into a ball of flesh.
"Oh..." Momo had not seen Shiskikura's quirk up close before.
"Focus, Ponytail!" Bakugo snapped at her, "The more damage that loser takes, the more he loses his control on them." He blasted toward Shiskikura who ducked out of the way.
Moto pulled some kind of staff that unfolded off her belt. She moved with the grace of a spider over the ground, quicker than you'd expect.
As Bakugo got close to Shishikura, Moto popped out of two crevices and smacked him off balance. She didn't even hit that hard-- it just kind of threw off his trajectory, and he went sideways into the ground.
Shishikura reached out to grab him with his flesh fingers.
Bakugo moved out of the way just in the nick of time.
Momo tried to pin Shishikura down with her net, but Moto swatted it away.
"Sorry, Yaoyurozu," she said.
Bakugo blasted Shishikura from the side and he went skidding.
Shine was watching with interest.
Over to the side she saw a fight going on with a different team: Camie and three others she didn't know.
They were up against Todoroki, Iida, Mina, and Tohru.
It looked pretty one sided, though. Camie's illusions were keeping the UA students at bay, but no one was actually getting anywhere. The Shiketsu were just playing defense.
Finally Todoroki managed to freeze them in place. Iida kicked through Camie's smoke, and Mina melted their tools.
"Yikes! Okay, I give! I give!" Camie held up her hands.
Shine looked back at the group in her area, just in time to see Moto shoot a swift glance over at the other group-- and smile.
Tohru held out some cuffs to cuff the Shiketsu team.
Moto smacked Momo away with her staff just as Momo was coming at her with one of her own. Momo hit the ground a little harder than she thought she would. That didn't just feel like a defensive hit-- it felt like the girl was really trying to make Momo fall hard.
Momo started to recover, but Moto blew spores out of her mouth, as Bakugo was preparing to blast Shishikura again.
Moto hooked Shishikura with her staff and tossed him a good distance away, with more force then you'd expect from her size.
Bakugo's blast just hit dirt.
He turned to give Moto a surprised look.
The spores hit his skin... He started to cough...
Moto brushed herself off. "Sorry, sweetie, had to do it."
Bakugo began coughing more.
Shine leaned forward, frowning.
"Hold on." Camie suddenly pushed Tohru away, looking over. "Is that...?" Her eyes narrowed at Moto.
Momo got to her feet. "Hey, I'm your opponent," she said to Moto.
Kali turned and looked at her.
"Oh? Well, if that's how you want it."
Momo swallowed and backed up to get out of range.
But before they could fight, and Shishikura could do anything, something really weird began to happen.
Bakugo suddenly started exploding...without wanting to.
"What the-- he--!?!" he said, as his quirk went off, and it didn't seem to be going off right. He looked like it was hurting him.
"Huh?" Moto looked stunned. "Oh, uh oh. Looks like maybe our quirks aren't really a good mix.... Ah, man, this isn't good."
"What?" Momo said, "What have you done?"
Bakugo's exploding kept on.
Over in the other section, Todoroki and the other UA kids stared-- even the Shiketsu students did.
"What's happening?" Mina said.
One of the cuffed ones said, "Kali's quirk let's her corrupt other people's quirks. Usually it renders them useless, but sometimes there's a--"
"Code red!" Camie yelled, sprinting off before they could stop her. She raced over the terrain towards the earthquake zone.
"Code red-- it means the quirk is one that starts going off randomly, haywire," the other student finished, "Depends on how much of her spores they come in contact with. It can be just an annoyance...but it did put one kid in the hospital once."
"What?" Shoto cried. He took off after Camie. Mina did too.
Tohru wasn't sure what to do or whether to keep up the scenario.
Shine saw what was going on and decided it was high time to interfere.
She portaled over there.
Bakugo was getting worse. The explosions were getting big enough for Momo to have to back up, though she was trying to reach him.
Shishikura tried to reach him too.
"No." Kali yanked him back. "Touch it and it will affect you too. He's not done being contagious yet. He's blowing it everywhere."
"I hate him, but if he keeps that up he could kill himself," Shishikura said.
"What?" Momo cried. She pushed her way closer, trying to get behind Bakugo.
"Get away from me, Ponytail!" he yelled, between grunting in pain.
"Let me try to help. I'll use the gift," Momo said. She somehow tackled Bakugo from behind and began to say a few words--but then he hands began to burn with a weird feeling... She started coughing... "What...what is this? I didn't inhale it, did I ?"
She felt kind of dizzy. She fell over, hands on her chest.
"Momo!" Shoto had outpaced Camie using ice.
"Stop--" Shine put out her sword and he rammed into it. "Shoto, anyone with a quirk is in danger. Let me help first. It probably will not affect me."
She deflected Bakugo's explosions with her sword. Her eyes lit up. She reached out and stuck her sword through him.
Bakugo was just about to explode hard to enough to probably blow his own arms off...but his quirk stopped abruptly.
He froze.
Then he started coughing.
Black spores came out of his mouth like they were being purged.
Shine put her hand out and on his shoulder and prayed something too low for anyone else to hear.
Bakugo started to breathe again.
Momo was still choking, but Shine did the same to her and she finally stopped, breathing really hard.
Shoto ran up to her. "Momo? Are you okay...?" He grabbed her arms.
Momo looked up. "I'm...okay...now..." she said with difficulty.
Camie finally made it over. "Baku..." She ran up and knelt down next to him. "Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay."
"I'm freaking fine!" Baku tried to cover up how scared he really was. That had hurt like hell.
Camie looked over at Moto.
"I'm so sorry." Moto was looking pretty penitently at Shine and the others. "I didn't think it would affect him like that. With quirks like his, usually it just wouldn't work for a few hours."
"You should have be more careful!" Mina yelled at her, mad, "Like, girl, have a warning or something."
"Yeah, yeah, you're right," Moto said.
But when Mina turned back to Bakugo, Camie saw Moto look at her for just a brief moment...and smile.
Rage unlike anything she'd ever felt pumped through her system.
"You psycho b---h!" Camie screamed at the top of her voice, launching herself at Moto, who had the nerve to look shocked.
Camie attacked her with a front kick and knocked her on the ground.
"Camie!" Shishikura grabbed her by the shoulder as she was trying to kick Moto in the stomach and yanked her back, still kicking and yelling swear words at her.
"Let me go! I'm going to kill her!" she yelled, fighting Shiskikura.
Momo stared at her in horror.
Bakugo looked shocked.
Moto put her hand over her face. "I said it was an accident." She sounded near tears. "I didn't mean to..."
"Wow...Camie was way harsh..." Mina said.
Camie suddenly saw their faces. Shoto was glaring at her.
Shine was staring at her in surprise too.
Camie stopped struggling, and the fire just seemed to go out of her.
"Sorry..." she said, "I...don't know why I did that."
"Whatever your problem is with Moto, this was no time to bring it out!" Shishikura scolded her, dropping her, "I ought to turn you into a ball just to teach you a lesson."
"Touch her, and you're suspended from any activity for the remainder of the training." Shine's eyes flashed.
Shishikura backed up. "Did you see what she just did?"
"And I'm the authority here. I'll deal with her myself," Shine said. Her voice was scary. "The rest of you, you're excused from this training. You can all go wait till the next activity."
"But--" began Shishikura.
"I wouldn't argue with me if I were you," Shine said.
He shut up.
They all walked way, Shoto helping Momo along. Mina and Tokoyami picked Bakugo up.
Ojiro was released too, and he'd missed the whole thing, so he was confused.
Shine grabbed Camie and dragged her away.
Camie stared at the ground. "Go ahead...just get it over with."
But to her surprise, Shine just pulled her into a hug. "Camie...I'm so sorry."
Camie chocked up. "Wha--what?"
"I had to pull that act so she would think I was angry, but...I feel like that Kali girl, she did that...to upset you on purpose..." Shine said, "Something about the look she had..." She sighed. "What's going on, Camie?"
Camie shook her head and pulled away. "Don't worry about it... Moto-san just likes to mess with me..."
"Camie, you're a bad liar for an illusion user," Shine said, "Why is she trying to hurt you?"
"To be honest, Shine, I have no idea," Camie said, "but there's nothing you can do about it. Just don't tell Bakugo, okay? Technically, using her quirk was allowed, so there's nothing to say about it."
"Your reaction had plenty to say about it," Shine said.
"I just lost my cool. I guess I'm majorly stressed." Camie tugged her hair. "I'm gonna go shower off. Bye, Shine." She walked away.
Shine wondered why that sounded so final...
She thought about going after her, but then, she thought, maybe it would be best to wait till she had more time to observe. Camie clearly didn't want to tell her what was going on.
She returned to the area with the teachers. Aizawa wasn't happy about her pulling the kids out of it--but then he saw the state Bakugo was in, with burns all over from his own quirk, and he changed his mind and just called for an emergency lift back to UA and Recovery Girl.
Momo was in less bad of a state, but he sent her back too, and he let Todoroki go with her because he clearly wasn't going to be able to focus on training anyway.
Shine told Aizawa to keep Moto out of it too.
"Why? I can't do that," he said, "She's not disqualified. She'll be able to be in the next activity."
Shine sighed. "Aizawa...you know there are times rules over common sense is really a stupid way to go through life-- actually that's all the time. Whatever happens to your students is on your head." She walked away.
Aizawa felt like he'd been kicked in the stomach...but he still couldn't pull Moto out without a reason.
But no other incident like that one happened the rest of the training.
Camie was pulled out and reprimanded for attacking a classmate. Shishikura didn't hesitate to rat her out.
"I'm shocked at you," her teacher said, "This is so...out of character. But this behavior won't be tolerated. We'll have to talk to the principal once we get back. Maybe I can persuade them to go a little easy on you, as you were clearly just upset and not thinking clearly, but still, Camie, this is not okay."
Camie nodded, biting her lip. "Yeah, I know...sorry..."
"You'll apologize to Moto."
Camie nearly choked. "Oh...right... Totes..."
She turned to Moto. "So sorry, Moto-san," she said with a barely controlled tone, "That was way uncool of me."
Moto feigned a hurt expression. "No, I'm sorry Camie. I didn't mean to hurt your friend like that. I promise, I'll apologize to him later."
"Sure." Camie was icy.
"Maybe I should be taken out, huh?" Moto said to her teacher.
"No, accidents happen, but you need to use your quirk more appraisingly on people who you don't know," her teacher said, "We don't need something like this on our records again."
"Yes, Sensei." Moto bowed.
Camie walked away to sit in a corner.
* * *
Later at the infirmary, Shine checked on Bakugo.
"He'll be all right now," Recovery Girl said, "You stopped it just in time... The quirk's effects are gone, just some bad burns, but he's okay."
She clucked her tongue. "Just don't understand how he hurt himself with his own quirk. Strange."
Momo was already checked out of the office. She was sitting outside with Todoroki.
"Is he okay?" she asked.
Shine nodded. "He'll be fine."
"Let me out of this d--- office!" Bakugo yelled from inside.
"Have a candy," Recovery Girl said.
"Hey, guys..." Camie appeared in the outer hall.
She didn't look so good.
"Camie," Momo said, not sure how to react after earlier, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, see? I'm good, sis." Camie didn't sound good. "I'm a heading out soon-- just wanted to make sure Baku was okay. And, uh, sorry for going off like that. I don't know what I was thinking."
"Yeah, it was really weird," Shoto said.
Shine glared at him.
"But it's fine..." he said uncertainly.
"You should talk to Bakugo," Shine said.
"Uh, nah, I don't know," Camie said, "I think I'm good."
She was actually mortified.
"Well, he's fine," Shine said, "Raring to go, from the sound of it."
"Good," Camie said, "Well, uh, peace out."
She walked away.
"She came all this way to not even talk to him?" Shoto said, "That's strange."
"That's not normal at all," Momo said.
"Nope." Shine looked mad. "I think I need to have a word with this Moto chick."
Bakugo suddenly appeared in the doorway. "Did I hear that idiot out here?"
"Yeah, she just left," Shoto said.
"That coward!" Bakugo took off down the hall.
"Bakugo!" Momo cried, "You're not supposed to leave yet-- He's gone already..."
Shine laughed. "There was nothing wrong with his legs. I think he can manage..."
Recovery Girl appeared, shaking her head. "That boy is going to really hurt himself one of these days."
* * *
Bakugo almost ran into Moto on his way down the hall.
"Oh, hi," she said.
He ground to a halt. "You..."
"I was just wanting to apologize," Moto said, smiling, "I'm really sorry, honest. I didn't think it would hurt you like that... I mean, if you died, I would just never have forgiven myself... Can I make it up to you?"
She pulled an innocent face.
Bakugo edged away from her. "Yeah, you can drop that phony nice act you're pulling. Your words don't match that look in your eyes."
Moto blinked, a little surprised at this response. "Excuse me?"
"And stay the frick away from me!" Bakugo said, "Or next time, I won't even give you the chance to use your weirda-- quirk. Got that?" He stormed away.
Moto stared after him. "Wow...rude..." She tilted her head. "He's fun... I hate him already."

Bakugo caught up to Camie in the hall, but she heard him coming and ducked into a classroom, pulse pounding.
But Bakugo saw her go in and kicked the door open.

"What the h--- was that?" he said loudly, "Running like a gosh-danged coward."
Camie leaned on the wall. "Uh...sorry, Baku... I'm just not really feeling it right now."
"Don't lie to me!" Bakugo thundered, coming closer.
Camie braced herself for some kind of lecture.
Bakugo slammed the wall next to her. "What's going on?"
Camie looked down.
"Look at me!" Bakugo said.
"I can't," Camie mumbled, "I'm sorry..."
Silence.
"Why did you attack that girl?" Bakugo said in a very normal tone.
"I just...lost it... Stress, I guess," Camie said.
"Stress? Don't bs me."
"Don't make me talk about it," Camie said, sounding close to tears, "'Cause if you make me, I'll probably tell you, and then it's going to cause problems... She didn't follow me, did she?" She looked around nervously.
Bakugo eyed the door, then he shoved it closed.
"Talk to me," he insisted.
Camie started crying.
Bakugo didn't know what to do with that. Camie never cried, ever.
"What's...wrong with you?"
"Sorry, bro..." Camie wiped her face frantically. "I'm just so emotional right now! Ach, don't look at me!"
"Stop saying weird stuff and just get to the point!"
Camie covered her face. "I can't. Maybe I should just make an illusion of myself, huh...?" She blew some smoke.
Bakugo swatted it aside. "Don't try to hide behind that! Are you just going to sneak out of the room? I want answers."
"I...I'm really sorry, Bakugo..." Camie said, still upset, "What happened to you was my fault."
"Huh? No, it wasn't."
"Moto did it on purpose," Camie said in a really slow voice, "I know she did...or if she didn't, she wasn't really sorry. She gave me this look. She told me anyone I was close to would be a target, maybe... I was going to stay away from you all, but she already knows-- Oh gosh, she already knows." She sounded close to hysterics now. "So I can't really stop her... I don't know who she could hurt next and make it look like an accident, and no one will believe me..." She was openly sobbing now.
Bakugo couldn't take this.
"That dark emo chick is doing this on purpose? She's been threatening you?"
Camie sank back against the wall to the floor. "Uh huh..." she said, "but I wasn't supposed to tell you, and if she finds out I did, she'll kill me...or one of you...and I couldn't live with that. Bakugo, you can't let on that I let all this out. Ach, this is why I didn't want to talk to you! You read me too well. I knew I'd spill the whole thing... I hate you so much right now."
Bakugo wasn't sure what else to do except sit down next to her. He was quiet for a while.
Camie eventually calmed down a little bit and just stared at her boots.
"How long?" Bakugo finally said.
"I... Weeks..." Camie said, "Months, maybe, counting when she started saying stuff, but the assault was like a week and half ago."
"And that's why you stopped calling?"
"Yeah...I'm sorry," Camie mumbled.
"What do you have to apologize for? That psychopath is behind this. I'll kill her!" Bakugo started to get up. Camie grabbed him and yanked him back down.
"No!" she said frantically, "You can't! You saw what she can do to your quirk. She'll kill you! Like, for real. Probably could make up some story about it being an accident."
"How the he-- does someone like that end up at a hero school?" Bakugo cried.
"I don't know. Shh..." Camie hissed, "If she hears you, we're so dead..."
Bakugo was silent. They both listened. Nothing...but Moto was master of stealth. That didn't prove she wasn't there.
"Let go," Bakugo said finally, reddening as he realized Camie was still holding onto his arm.
Camie tightened her grip. "Promise me you won't go off and try to find her."
"I said get off me, d--- t."
"No!" Camie shoved him up again the wall. "I want you to promise me! Or I'll...I'll...unfollow you! That's what I'll do...and I'll block your number!"
[Camie Shushing Bakugo art by Julianna Gardner.]
Bakugo...almost had to laugh. "You'll unfollow me-- that's your threat?"
"I mean it!" Camie pulled out her phone. Her hand was shaking. "Watch me, bro."
"Don't get so bent out of shape."
"Bakugo, I'm for real on this. I can't be your friend anymore if it's going to end up like this," Camie said.
Silence.
"All right, I'll leave her alone...for now," Bakugo said. He hated it, but Camie seemed like she was on the edge of doing something desperate if he didn't make some kind of compromise. "But the first chance I get to murder that b---, I'm taking it."
"Hey, I'd beat the crap out of her if I could," Camie said fiercely, eyes blazing, "I hate her!... I mean, I know, I'm not supposed to hate...but I can't just get over that either.... Uh, I need therapy." She slumped back on her knees.
"You've got to get away from her," Bakugo said.
"I can't. She's in my class," Camie said, "but I'll be fine, if I stay out of her way. I'll probably get suspended anyway for attacking her. I can't believe I'd actually welcome the chance for some peace. Hey, maybe I can sneak over here while I'm grounded, huh? She won't know, so it'd be okay. We can hang then."
"And you will this time?"
"I will. Seriously, Bakugo, you think I don't miss you guys? I was just staying away to keep her from trying something."
"But how would she hurt us anyway?"
"She said she had connects. I don't know what that means...but she sounded so serious, I thought she could actually do it... Maybe it was a bluff, but..." Camie swallowed. "The thing is, Moto doesn't bluff...ever.... In training...she's scary. But my whole class thinks she's chill off the field because she never starts anything with anyone or talks that much to them at all. But she's not chill... She's psycho..."
"Duh," Bakugo said, "Anyone can tell that. She made some kind of fakea-- apology to me, but I could tell by the look in her eye she wasn't sorry at all."
"She talked to you?" Camie looked angry. "Err...I wish I could slap her..."
"You were pretty terrifying attacking her though. I thought you were going to kill 'er."
"I know. It was so embarrassing how I just flipped out like that," Camie said.
"It was cool." Bakugo was staring at the floor.
Camie turned red. "Oh...well, uh, consider the source, Bakubro...Lord Explosion Murder man..."
"So I should know!" Bakugo snapped.
"Fine, fine." Camie held up her hands. "You do you, bro." She got up and held out her hand.
"Come on. Someone's going to wonder where we are. I can't exactly say we were making out in the closet, now can I? I'm already in enough trouble."
"Like that would ever happen."
"Yeah, I wouldn't bother with a closet," Camie said, walking out of the room.
Leaving Bakugo a little confused as to what she meant by that.
[👀Um...Camie, you need to chill....
Not that that wasn't hot in a way... I love Bakugo.
Sorry if y'all were expecting a kiss scene, but I don't think they're quite there yet. Give 'em a few more weeks.]
