Part 3: Training with 1-A
When Shine came to, she was in some kind of nurse's office. After she met Recovery Girl, who was nice but scolded her for taking on villains by herself (like she was a child), Wally came in and didn't scold her. He instead told her that Nezu and All Might wanted to discuss something with both of them once she was recovered.
Shine, aside from feeling like she'd been tasered on mild, was fine, so she followed him to Nezu's office.
"Ah, Miss Likstar, I see you're recovered," Nezu said pleasantly.
Shine rubbed her sword arm. "Just a little drained still. I knew using that much energy would overdo it, but I didn't have a different plan."
Aizawa was by the tea counter. "What exactly did you do?" he asked, "Nothing you told us indicated you were capable of taking on three villains."
Wally patted her shoulder with evident pride. "Just an average day," he said nonchalantly, "But, hon, please tell me you whooped their butts."
Shine smirked. "Not at all. One of them, Twice, didn't even fight. The other, Dabi, didn't really try to kill me. The crazy knife girl was the real problem. Close range combat is not my strong suit."
"So, you found out their names," Nezu surmised.
"They said them," Shine shrugged.
"The last one had to be Toga," All Might guessed, "She's dangerous. You're lucky you survived so long against all of them... I might add, so is Power Loader."
"He's okay, right?" Shine said, with a queasy look.
"He'll be fine," Aizawa said, "He hadn't lost too much blood, considering."
"I wonder why they attacked in such a manner," Nezu said.
Shine snorted. "That's easy enough. They must have seen Power Loader on his way and figured he was alone. Easy target. I don't care how good a super you are, getting attacked by three people is unfair. They didn't know we were there and counted on being able to replace him and do whatever they planned before you noticed. As it was, Wally finding him was almost a sheer coincidence. A few seconds earlier, and he'd have come back inside. Also, the chance that both of us knew what mud clones are is probably pretty slim, even here. Then I found that Dabi person almost by blind luck. All things considered, it was providential that they didn't succeed."
All Might gave her a strange look.
"That's exactly what our assessment was," Nezu said, with a tinge of amazement, "Except, we didn't know how you found the villains."
"I was just glad we set up that signal idea beforehand," Wally said.
"How did you stall them?" Aizawa asked.
Shine told them a succinct version of the story-- that still managed to puzzle them.
"Didn't you think that was reckless?" Nezu said, "You are not a Hero, Miss Likstar."
"So?" Shine said, shrugging. They blinked. She frowned. "Am I supposed to just get it? Another world, remember?"
She got to see them suddenly remember they were supposed to be humoring that notion.
"Right," Aizawa said, drolly.
"All I did was kick them and smack one with my sword," Shine added nonchalantly, "I don't think, under the circumstances, I can be blamed for that."
"Yeah, who would be that stupid?" Wally said, irritated, "Shouldn't you guys be thanking her?"
"Oh, no," Shine waved dismissively, "They don't have to. It was the least I could do. I mean, they accepted our story real quickly and are helping us adjust. The fact that we ran into villains is just an unfortunate circumstance. Though it was quite interesting, and I'm happy to help out a teacher. Goodness knows they need it... I teach on my world sometimes." She smirked.
"Miss Likstar, do I detect irony in that speech?" Aizawa said dryly, "Of course, we're grateful. But what you did was reckless, foolish, and irresponsible. If you expect us to believe you've been to other dimensions, you should demonstrate more common sense. Villains are dangerous."
"Don't I know it," Shine laughed, "Common sense! I suppose I was reckless, but it's in the past, and I'll know more next time, if there is one."
"We can't brush this off," Nezu said.
"We're not newbs to fighting bad guys," Wally said, with a shrug. "I don't think you need to worry." He chuckled.
The teachers exchanged looks.
"These are not regular criminals," All Might said finally, "They are part of something known as the League of Villains. You may have dealt with bad guys before, but this is an elite team of them, violent, and many of them are psychotic. They are led by someone who's main ambition is to see society crumble." He paused.
Shine and Wally didn't blink.
"And...?" Shine gestured for them to go on.
"And-- well, they have a plan." All Might was put off by their nonchalance.
"And...?" Wally said, waiting.
"Um..." All Might wasn't sure what else to say.
"Why? What's their motivation? Does one of them have a personal grudge against UA? Are they super powerful? Outcasts? Monsters? Aliens? Do they have a device they can use to enact their will, or are they rogues? Are they a cult? Or are they a band of cut throats?" Shine fired question after question.
Nezu finally held up a paw. "Miss Likstar, the whole reason you're here is because we decided to fill you in on part of what we know. If you'll give us a chance."
Shine went quiet.
After a very long conversation, interrupted by several questions from both of them, Likstar and West were informed of most of what the League had been doing, though Nezu glossed over just how much the Pros had been caught off guard most of the time. They also omitted the part where a student had been kidnapped and almost not recovered. They stressed how ruthless the League was, and how the Villain known as All for One intended to destroy society in order to spite All Might.
All Might also admitted to losing his power. He saw no point in hiding it, since they would soon notice it if he didn't use a quirk.
Nezu was bothered by the fact that neither Likstar nor West seemed at all concerned about their close call.
They were more interested in the League's philosophy, which the teachers had very limited knowledge of. All Might tried to explain it.
"Villains try to make it sound like they have a philosophy, but they really just like hurting people. I wouldn't take anything they claim to be in favor of seriously."
Likstar tilted her head. "I agree about villains, but you have all the benefit of already knowing this for months. What they claim could be important to my understanding."
"You don't need to worry about it," Aizawa said, "but you should worry about now possibly being a target... We've decided the housing situation needs to be adjusted. It's too isolated."
"Yes," Nezu agreed, "You should be where help can arrive more quickly-- here in the main campus. Though we hope you will avoid this situation repeating itself."
Pointedly.
* * *
The next day the students were all a buzz before and during breakfast. Kendo came up to Yaoyurozu's table. "We heard someone ran into villages last night," she said.
Monoma walked past. "And they didn't get anyone," he said, disappointed.
Kendo sent him sprawling several feet. "Sorry, even for him that was low," she said.
Mina winced. "Uh, yeah..."
"Everyone was okay," Yaoyurozu said, though she looked troubled.
"Who stopped them?" Kendo asked.
"Her..." Mina used her chopsticks to point at Likstar, who was eating with West all alone.
"We should've invited them to sit with us," Uraraka said regretfully.
"I guess there's always lunch," Tsu remarked pragmatically.
"Who is that?" Kendo asked, "Weren't they taken in for trespassing?"
"They're campus guests," Hagakure stated what Aizawa had told them to call it.
"Oh," Kendo frowned, "That's weird."
"Yeah, it's a hero thing." Uraraka looked at her food.
"Oh--oh." Kendo probably suspected something was up, but she took the hint. "Well, see you later," she waved, dragging Monoma away.
"I feel bad," Uraraka said, looking blue, "None of us even thanked her last night. She almost died."
"I don't think she almost died," Tsu said.
"Really? I heard she passed out and got cut," Hagakure said dramatically.
"I mean how they almost got her and Power Loader. I heard All Might say her partner was just in time. Two more seconds and they would have been captured or killed," Uraraka murmured.
"Now I feel bad." Yaoyurozu put her bowl down. "They don't even know us. Already they've gotten caught up in our problems."
"Seems like they did it on purpose...but, yeah, it sucks." Jiro crumpled her napkin.
When they all got to homeroom class, Likstar and West were there, squeezed in the back next to Yaoyurozu.
"Um...why are you here?" she asked.
Todoroki stood by his desk and gave them a wary glance. Likstar returned it intently.
"Aizawa wants us to study in here," West supplied cheerfully, "After yesterday, he's convinced we're not really prepared, and now we've apparently made some...unpleasant acquaintances, so we're going to learn how you guys deal with it."
"I think his tacit motivation is to keep an eye on us and make sure we stay out of trouble," Likstar added humorously.
Well, probably true, but Yaoyurozu was surprised a 20+ year old would admit that out loud. She had no further time for questions because Iida yelled at everyone to get in their desks. Aizawa entered 30 seconds later.
"Good morning, class," he said, "As you probably noticed we have some extra members today..." He basically said what West said, only more monochromatic and ominous.
A lot of the class shot Likstar and West odd looks, some not too pleased. This was going to make it weird: two total strangers in class, and other worldly ones at that...if that was true, and they'd be watching them.
Aizawa then told everyone to head to the fake city for today's exercise. Everyone clambered up and out of the room.
"Uh, is that what you're wearing?" Mina asked Likstar, who was wearing what she'd worn the day before-- comfortable looking, but not work out clothes. She smiled sheepishly.
"I don't have any other clothes.... I wasn't super prepared for this...uh...situation." Did she mean training or being in their world?
"Oh, of course," Mina said, "I'm sure it'll be fine..." She wasn't really sure. Hopefully they wouldn't be near Bakugo, herself, or Todoroki.
"So," Sero asked West, "you any good in a real fight?"
"Oh, yeah," West replied.
Bakugo glanced back narrowly.
"And you, you must be pretty amazing, taking on three bad guys at once," Sero told Likstar, somewhat impressed.
Likstar tugged her hair. "Not really. I had surprise on my side, and they weren't trying to kill me. Plus, if not for Wally, I'd have been sunk."
She sounded like Midoriya.
"Doesn't really surprise me," Bakugo said loud enough for her to hear, "She looks like a wimp anyway."
"Dude!" Kirishima exclaimed, shooting Likstar an apologetic look.
"Ignore him," Jiro told her, "He likes to pick a fight with everyone."
"What was that?!" Bakugo hollered after her. She rolled her eyes.
West mouthed "yikes" at Likstar.
"S'okay." Likstar fixed her eyes on the back of Bakugo's head. "I have a feeling that guy's all talk."
Wrong thing to say. Bakugo turned around fiercely, eyes blazing.
"What? You think I can't fight?! I'll kill you!"
"Hey!" West stepped in front of Likstar, who looked at Bakugo like he'd lost his mind.
"Dude!" Kirishima yanked him back. "She's new, remember?"
"Yeah, she doesn't know anything about you, man," Kaminari echoed.
"Your reputation isn't familiar!" Iida added.
Midoriya quickly got in front of Likstar. Bakugo unclenched his fists. Aizawa was turning around anyway.
"Fine, I'll let it slide this once-- only because she's clueless about all this. No satisfaction beating someone who doesn't know what they're doing anyway." He turned back around.
Likstar's eyes flared with defiance for a brief second. Yaoyurozu and Uraraka both realized her calm demeanor might be hiding a temper after all, but she held herself in check and let out a long sigh. The two girls exchanged a look. The last thing they wanted was for trouble to start between these strangers and Bakugo.
"Way to make enemies with the new people," Kirishima muttered to Bakugo.
"They're not important," Bakugo growled back, "They're just tag-alongs as far as I'm concerned."
Kirishima gave up.
Everything seemed to have calmed up until Likstar was passing into the fake city's outer limits. She'd fallen to the back of the group. Suddenly Bakugo blocked her. No one else was looking. Aizawa was handing out papers.
"Just so you know, b----" he said, "if you ever cross me, you're dead."
Likstar flinched, and he started to turn away with an annoyed sneer, but then she glared fiercely.
"Just so you know, kid," she said in a tight voice, "if you ever call me that again, I'll whap you upside the head with metal. Non-lethal, but it'll hurt."
Bakugo scoffed. "You think I'm scared of a lamea-- threat like that?"
"You think I'm scared of a bratty teenager giving me attitude?" Shine retorted.
She regarded him exactly as if he was throwing a tantrum in front of her. It was very unlike how seriously people generally took his threats.
Bakugo looked surprised for one brief second-- and then like he was going to attack-- but Aizawa called ,"Bakugo!" at that precise moment.
"I'll destroy you later," Bakugo warned, turning to get his papers.
"Likstar." Aizawa handed her one.
"No one look." He seemed to be repeating previous instructions. "Now when you get inside, you can either go after your victim yourself or team up. If you team up with someone who does not have your person, then you won't get full credit unless both of your targets are rescued. If someone else rescues your target, you get no credit at all. Extra points for stopping any villains in your path. You'll have 25 minutes."
"Twenty-five minutes!" Likstar exclaimed.
"Wow, that's a long time for a rescue," West said, completely serious.
Aizawa did a double take. "Since this is still first year training, we allow a little extra time, but even so, many rescues take hours to complete. We're skipping the steps real heroes would go through to get to the victim's city." Unusual for him to explain that much. He must be taking West's lack of knowledge of their customs into account.
"Mr. Aizawa," Likstar raised her hand, "will we know where our...target is?"
"No, you'll have to find them," Aizawa said curtly, "Now, no more questions. Find your positions. You have five minutes to get there."
"What? But I didn't even hear all the instructions," Likstar protested, but no one was listening. They were all racing for their marks.
"Good luck, Sunshine." West gave her a thumbs up and zipped away.
Likstar glanced at her paper. She couldn't read the kanjis, but fortunately there was a number on it: 23. Probably 23rd street. She ran toward the city.
After first finding 2nd street, Shine was finally able to find 23rd, much later than she wanted to. The exercise had begun before she actually arrived.
"Crap!" she cried, as she stumbled, gasping, into the street.
Taped to the sign post was a card. She managed to rip it off. It was a number.
"13?" she gasped to herself, "Who the heck is 13?"
She saw Sero swing past some buildings off to her left. "He looks like Spiderman when he does that," she muttered.
She wasn't sure what to do. Bakugo had really screwed this up for her-- maybe he'd done that on purpose. After looking around, she spotted a service ladder going up the side of the building. She climbed up it. Not her first choice, but she could survey the city better. She was startled to find someone else up there: the bird-headed guy. He was watching her closely.
"You probably are not a villain," he said.
"Um, no, sir. Are you?"
"No, but you'd be taking my word for it."
"If you wanted to stop me, I think you could have." Shine straightened. "Who are you after?"
"Midnight." He held up a card like hers. It had kanjis on it, so Shine took his word for that too.
"Who's that?"
"Teacher. Black hair, mask, whip..."
"Oh, her..." Shine frowned distastefully. That woman had said something pretty off color to Wally while they were recounting what'd happened last night, but she didn't want to dis on the guy's teacher. Then she saw him wince. Okay, maybe he felt the same way.
"I have 13, but I have no clue who that is," she said, "I only met a few teachers officially."
"She wears a pressurized, white costume to balance her quirk," he said.
Shine now remembered seeing her. She'd been nice... she thought, but portalling to her with no plan-- no knowledge-- was risky. Extremely. "Um, look...what's your name again? I'm sorry."
He told her. She tried his first name. He winced. "What?" she paused.
"It's...very familiar to use that," he said.
"Oh-oh," Shine said, "Sorry, sorry, I forgot where I am. Tokoyami, right?"
He nodded. "Don't fret over it. Your culture shock must be excruciating under the circumstances."
Wow...that wasn't really comforting, but clearly he meant to be sympathetic.
"Yeah, so, Tokoyami, we have like 20 minutes, and I have no idea what I'm doing. I hate to ask because I'll slow you down, but..." she gestured, "could you tell me how this works? I... I missed the first part."
"Miss Likstar, I'd sooner team up and start looking and explain than stand here."
Shine was surprised he was so willing, but she accepted the offer. She also told him to call her Shine. Likstar was too weird to keep hearing.
After they got off the roof with Dark Shadow's help (that was an interesting introduction-- it took Shine a second to decide he wasn't a demon, but finally she accepted it), Tokoyami very succinctly explained the exercise to her and the reason for it. Shine told him a little bit about her abilities: opening portals, and that her sword could also act as a light. He then told her, in all fairness, about Dark Shadow's weakness. They decided their best plan, as a team, was to trade off. She was more suited to close range. He was better at long range, and she would need to avoid cancelling his quirk out by accident.
It was all kind of a blur from there. The excercise didn't feel urgent to Shine at all, but Tokayami treated it like it was real, and she played long, but didn't pay much attention other than that, she was far too busy taking mental notes on the students she could observe.
It turned out her light at least came in handy, because when they found Midnight, she was underground. They had to get through some students (Koda and Kirishima) pretending to be villains, and had trouble navigating. Plus there were rats (Koda used them.) But they managed to get Midnight out. It wasn't nearly as hard as either of them expected, their teamwork was solid.
Tokoyami, for his part, was mostly concerned about keeping Dark Shadow in check-- and perhaps secretly thought the teachers were setting him up by putting his target in a darker place. Shine even voiced the thought that it was odd. She also said she was surprised at how rough the students had fought with her. Kirishima almost took her arm off when he hardened, she claimed.
At 6 minutes on the clock, they had almost got Midnight to the safe zone, which was a pretend hospital, but were no closer to finding 13. She was pretty much resigned to not finding 13, (and didn't care that much about it) and Tokoyami didn't dare risk lingering to try to help her look. He was able to spot the hospital from atop another building, and they made there way there over the ground.
Shine ran into Yaoyurozu before she saw her. "Ow!" She stepped back.
Yaoyurozu had a quarter staff at her chest. Shine held up her card. "Wait! We're good guys. You?"
Yaoyurozu lowered the staff and held up her own card.
"You have Midnight also?" Tokoyami said.
Yaoyurozu now noticed her. "Oh, I was almost ready to give up. Only 6 minutes-- I only found a villain lair, and I was going to try to sneak in the back, but you have--"
Tokoyami brushed past. "No time. Shine, if you wish to stay, it is up to you, but I must get Midnight to the hospital." He sprinted that way.
Shine didn't think he meant to be rude, but Yaoyurozu's face fell, and she looked down, kind of disappointed. "I was too slow..."
Shine felt a little sorry for her. "It was mostly dumb luck..." then changed the subject, "You found another lair, right? Finding 13 could take 20 minutes more. I'd rather focus on the hostage near enough to rescue. We could go into the lair."
Tokoyami returned at this juncture. "We have 5 minutes, Mi--Shine. Yaoyurozu, if you have no wish to risk losing points--"
"No! I didn't do anything. I'll help you if you want to try. But I think Todoroki is the one playing the villain. I saw ice all over the window."
"Uh...who?" Shine blanked.
"Half cold, half hot," Tokoyami said hastily, "perhaps the strongest person in our class. If he's playing Villain, he'll have a strategy. We haven't the right quirks... He knows my weakness."
"So it is hopeless?" Yaoyurozu asked, "We have 4 minutes."
Neither student seemed to think they had a chance at this. Shine was all set to agree, but then they shook their heads in determination. If the situation was real, they'd not have hesitated, they rationalized. Four minutes could mean life or death for someone.
Seeing this, Shine offered "I can get us in and out in a few seconds each. We strike fast. Focus on the hostage, not ourselves. That's our job, right? It could take less than a minute if we catch him off guard."
"You used portals already," Tokoyami objected, "How many do you have left?"
"Enough," Shine said vaguely.
But Yaoyurozu worried that since they didn't know where the hostage was, they would still not be fast enough. Shine was anxious to get started. "So, Tokoyami and I distract. You focus on the hostage. We need only a few seconds--otherwise we've no chance at all. Deal?" They exchanged looks.
"Deal."
They all ran down the street. "3.25 minutes," Yaoyurozu said, "Here it is." She pointed-- a faux store front.
"Hey!" an angry voice said. Shine turned, Bakugo was racing toward her. Dark Shadow reared up and blocked him.
"We're heroes, Bakugo." Shine flashed her card.
Bakugo glanced at it. "No way..." he scowled.
Ah, so he had 13 too. Aizawa must have done that on purpose.
"2 minutes, 50 seconds," Yaoyurozu said, sounding freaked.
"Okay." Shine sliced a doorway in the air.
"What are you idiots doing?" Bakugo demanded.
"If you want to save anyone, go in the front and cause a distraction," Shine snapped, "Otherwise, stay out of our way. Go!"
Tokoyami and Yaoyurozu leapt through the door.
"Hey, you can't--" Bakugo began.
"2.5 minutes, dude!" Shine said and leapt through. The door snapped shut behind her.
Inside, frigid air slammed her like a freezer door opening--and shutting her in.
It was dark too, but that gave them one advantage. Todoroki was at least caught completely off guard by 3 people appearing in his lair. He barely dodged Tokoyami's first slam, but not to be outdone, he lit his left side up. Dark Shadow recoiled.
Shine blocked quickly, panting from the effort, and then her sword flashed brightly again. Todoroki had the instinct to form a wall of ice in front of himself, though he couldn't see.
Yaoyurozu was slicing through the hostage's bonds with...a jackknife, maybe? Shine saw it was 13! Lucky break. Of course, she thought, anyone else would have gotten frostbite in here, but her suit is insulated. Todoroki's not a jerk.
She'd really hate to hurt the poor guy, but they had 1.5 minutes left, and he lunged suddenly, his ice melting.
Tokoyami ducked, Dark Shadow tried to shield Shine, who really wasn't prepared for that kind of speed, but fire blazed past her left arm as she hit the floor, which was also icy. She slid onto her face.
Yaoyurozu dragged 13 toward the other exit, but someone--Wally! blocked her. "Where do you think you're going?"
Yaoyurozu formed another staff, but her whole stance said she knew she was dead as far as winning this was concerned.
Shine got up, and pointed her sword at Wally. But she was grinning goofily at how absurd the situation was. "Stop there, villain."
"Oh, wow, you want to play that game huh?" Wally gave a very Flash-like smile. "Well, I can get into this. Everyoe loves a good forbidden love story between a hero and a villain. How about it, fine lady?"
Shine almost choked on a laugh. "Sure, I've alway wanted to be in that kind of thing."
"Wait, really?" Wally asked completely serious.
Shine shrugged. "What woman doesn't? It's a bad boy thing."
"Good to know...yeah, I think we need to have a talk about this later, babe," Wally said teasingly.
Todoroki heard all this with a very weird look on his face. "What are you doing?" He hissed at Wally.
"Flirting," Wally said.
"You're supposed to fight her seriously."
"But how can I fight such a knock out?" Wally was still goofing around. The clock was running down though.
Momo knocked his feet out from under him. He caught himself easily though. Shine stumbled then and fell on her face on the ice.
Then, unexpectedly, as Todoroki was freezing Tokoyami to the wall, the windows blew in, and he hit the ice hard.
"Die, Icy Hot!!" Bakugo yelled. He came propelling into the room.
Wally started running at him--and tripped over the staff. Yaoyurozu looked stunned that had worked.
Shine managed to get to her knees and raise her sword with her right hand. She sliced the air. A doorway formed in the wall.
"Yaoyurozu!" she yelped--Ice covered most of her body.
Yaoyurozu somehow sprung to the side just as ice shot toward her foot, and she shoved 13 toward the door. Wally had sprawled into the wall of ice, and Bakugo was blasting, blocking him from getting to the door.
"I can still catch them!"he ran for the doorway. Bakugo blasted at his feet, too slow, but the impact sent him into the corner--ouch.
A bell rang suddenly.
"Time's up," Todoroki sat up, wincing. "I rarely scrape myself on ice."
"Sorry, dude," Wally moaned, "Price of the trade."
"That was too easy!" Bakugo complained.
"Maybe for you," Tokoyami murmured.
"Apologies." Todoroki began to thaw him.
Yaoyurozu came back in through the decimated window. "We made it by 2 seconds!" she cried excitedly, then, "Oh, are you okay?" to Wally.
"Yeah, yeah..."
Shine was shivering.
Yaoyurozu walked up and started breaking the ice.
"Uh, can you help?" she asked Bakugo. He rolled his eyes and blasted. Shine hit the floor hard, the ice fell off.
"I was going to..." Todoroki thought better of saying it.
"Ow..." Shine closed her eyes.
"Likstar, your plan was brilliant!" Yaoyerozu began, as Todoroki thawed the whole room.
"That was wild!" Wally said proudly, "We thought we were all right, but you got under our guard! I almost wasn't going to fight back, but Icyhot said follow the rules, so--"
Bakugo smirked at Wally's use of his insulting nickname, while Todoroki shot him a mildly annoyed look.
"You didn't take it seriously, West," he said, perturbed. "You said you were a hero, didn't you? You aren't supposed to act like yourself in the sim."
Wally waved him off. "I was just having fun with it."
Tokayami sighed, and Todoroki just frowned at him.
"And you were like pow! pow! BOOM!" Wally went on animatedly, referring to Bakugo.
"You don't seem excited..." Yaoyurozu looked at Shine more closely. Shine was shaking.
"Yeah--um--M-might be the shock. Cold-hot-col..." She touched her left arm and winced. Yaoyurozu noticed the scorched sleeve and lifted it. Shine gasped and then fainted.
"What's wrong?" Wally was next to Shine in a heartbeat, then he cried, "Oh my gosh!"
Yaoyerozu bit her lip and formed a bandage quickly.
Todoroki started, looking wan, but then he handed Momo the first aid supplies he carried on his costume, she started to apply it.
Tokoyami hung his head. "I thought Dark Shadow blocked it."
"It...was a small blast..." Todoroki said in a hollow voice.
"Small!" Wally snapped, "This is 6 inches long at least! Small!?"
"Inches..." Tokoyami muttered in confusion. [Over 12 cm for you metric users]
"Calm down." Yaoyurozu wrapped her arm. "Recovery Girl can fix this. Let's just get her across the street. Can you carry her?"
"Of course." Wally gently picked her up. "I feel awful now. I should've known she was hurt. I'm so stupid!" He ran out.
"An accident," Tokoyami said, by way of comfort, "The blast was small. I'm not sure why it hurt her that badly."
Yaoyurozu glared at him like not helping.
"She'll be fine!" Bakugo snapped, "I want to see who won."
He stepped over the broken window. They followed.
A couple more students were gathered outside the hospital but not all. "Dude," Kirishima waved, "How'd you do?"
"Won, obviously," Bakugo snapped.
Todoroki looked at the ground. "It was an accident," Yaoyurozu said, knowing that didn't really help, but unsure what else to say.
"Yes..." he muttered.
