Joshua Jenkins x Embry Call

[ A/N ] this is a one-shot I wrote of one of my male ocs meeting his imprint; Embry, for the first time. I had originally created Joshua Jenkins (my oc), and his brother, James Jenkins, for -daisyqueen story, 'Perish', however, I grew so attached to Josh and his relationship with Embry, that I couldn't help but want to write something for them myself. This is only a short one-shot but if if you guys like this and would want, I could make more one-shots for them and/or write a whole fanfic to share their story. So let me know how you guys like this and what else you'd like to see!

"Why are we here again?" Joshua Jenkins groaned in annoyance to his older brother James. They were stood in one of La Push's small shops, looking around for groceries. They had moved to Forks only a week ago and Josh still wasn't used to the small town. His brother, however, much rather preferred La Push, so he was always going down there, dragging Josh with him.

James brushed aside his brothers annoyance, used to Josh's whining. "Because," James started, for the umpteenth time that day, "I would rather support smaller shops like these, rather than those big department stores. Now, where is the milk?" He finished off, turning in his spot as he looked for the drink.

Josh threw his head back and groaned loudly. "Okay, but they probably won't have everything we need - like milk. So why don't we just go back to Forks where there's a nice big department store, filled with everything we need?" Josh said in a tone as if he were talking to a small child who didn't understand something.

James huffed and turned back around, having no luck with his search for milk. "How many times have I told you, Josh? I would rather buy things from small shops like these where people are trying to make a living, rather than the department stores that have more than enough."

Josh groaned again and was just about to make a retort - quite a good one if he did say so himself - before his brother cut him off.

"Look, why don't you be a good boy and go get us some cereal, whatever kind you'd like." James said mockingly, placing his hands on his thighs and making sure Josh understood what he was saying.

Joshua narrowed his eyes and shoved his brother. "Knock it off. I'm not five, or a dog." He grumbled angrily however, still doing as his brother said and looking for cereal. James heard him and chuckled as he went off on his own adventure of trying to find the milk.

Josh's jaw was clenched the whole time as he looked for the cereal. He hated this stupid small town, he hated La Push, and he hated that his brother thought he needed to be treated like a little kid. Josh was fifteen and he didn't like it when James still treated him like his baby brother in need of saving. Josh and James were safe now and Joshua really didn't appreciate dwelling on the past.

Josh sighed in relief when he found the cereal aisle and he was quite surprised that the store carried a large variety of cereals. Joshua walked down the aisle, looking at the cereals intently and trying to figure out which one he wanted. The blonde boy stopped and stood up when he had an idea, grinning evilly to himself. If it was cereal that James wanted, it was cereal that he was going to get.

With his plan in mind, Josh began taking every type of cereal off the shelf and into his arms, not even caring if he or James didn't like it. He eventually got them all, at least he hoped so, and the stack of cereals were so high, Josh couldn't even see past them and could only look from side to side.

Josh tried walking out of the aisle to meet back up with his brother, stumbling slightly as he couldn't see where he was going.

"Whoa, careful there." Josh heard a voice from behind him, or maybe it was in front of him, say with a laugh. Just as the male, which Josh had identified him as, said that, the boxes of cereals came tumbling down, leaving Joshua in a pile of cereals, embarrassed as he looked around himself. He didn't normally get embarrassed but Josh convinced himself that it was because he had never done something that stupid before. Yes, that was completely the reason as he looked up at the handsome stranger and immediately got lost in his dark chocolate brown eyes.

The stranger seemed equally as taken with Joshua, if his wide eyes, gaping mouth, and light blush were anything to go by. The boys were unsure how long they stood staring at each other and frankly, Josh didn't care. He would never stop staring at the boy if he could. Josh didn't know what it was about the tan boy with hair as long as his torso, but Joshua was taken with him. He knew that him and that stranger were meant to be together, perhaps forever. Josh didn't know how he knew, he just had this feeling and he could tell that he wasn't going to be wrong.

Josh was the first to break eye contact, clearing his throat awkwardly and blushing uncharacteristically as he forced himself out of the trance he had been in.

It seemed this helped the other boy come out of his own trance as well and he immediately bent down to help Josh pick up the fallen cereal boxes with the boy had just begun to do so.

"So, you like cereal, huh?" The boy laughed lightly as he attempted to make a joke, something that caused Josh to smile.

He stood up holding half of the boxes while the boy held the other and shrugged as best as he could. "It's okay. I was more planning to play a prank on my brother but I don't think he'd enjoy it all that much." Josh replied as he began to put away the cereal boxes.

The boy chuckled and did the same, the two turning to look back at each once they were finished. "That's a shame. It probably would've been funny to see his reaction. I love a good prank."

Joshua smiled and agreed by nodding his head, but he didn't respond verbally, opting to simply stare at the boy instead - who seemed to have no objections towards that and did the same.

After a few minutes, Josh heard his name being called and he sighed before yelling back at his brother that he'd meet him outside in a minute. James yelled back his agreement and Josh sighed in reluctance before turning back to the stranger.

"I have to go," he said, hating himself for how desperately he didn't want to. But he couldn't help it. The stranger evoked feelings in Josh that the blond had never felt before.

The boy seemed equally as reluctant and sighed before nodding his head. "Alright. Perhaps we'll see each other again?"

Joshua had no doubt about that, even though he lived in Forks and he assumed the boy lived on the Reserve. "I'm sure we will." Josh replied before he forced himself to turn away and begin making his way out of the store.

"Embry Call!" The boy suddenly called out, causing Josh to stop in surprise and look back at the boy curiously.

The stranger's face was supporting quite an obvious blush as he hurried his way over to Josh. "Sorry," he quickly apologized, looking embarrassed. "I just realized that I never told you my name so, there it is."

Josh nodded in understanding and chuckled lightly at the boy whose blush had not gone away. "Well, Embry Call, I'm Joshua Jenkins." He felt so tempted to add on that the boy - Embry, could call him Josh but he was unsure if he would feel comfortable with that.

Mentally shrugging, Josh did so anyway, realizing that he felt completely fine letting Embry do so. "But you can just call me Josh."

"Josh," Embry said experimentally causing Josh to shiver in delight when his name rolled so eloquently off Embry's tongue. Josh knew he wouldn't ever get tired of hearing Embry say his name.

Yes, the two were perfectly made for each other and without even knowing it, the boys recognized that and then - eventually, much later than either would have liked - they became one, mind; body; and soul.

But they didn't know that yet and so for now, they were simply content with what they had - which admittedly was not much, but it would grow. They knew that as well.
