22- Unbeatable

White, blue, red and green light surrounded the room like rays, as the elements pushed out their power at the strongest energy they could muster.

The already weakened and rusted chains snapped in an instant, freeing everyone. The five of them looked at each other with wide and unbelieving eyes, still not over the fact that they did it.

"Yes! Step one is complete," Neer rejoiced, pumping his hands in the air.

"Now we just need to find a perfect time to get out of here, before alerting the doctors," Gyaan said, putting down their excitement by a notch.

"Bring the smiles back. This was the hardest part," Ahana ordered, "If we can't escape stealthily then we will walk over their dead bodies."

Others chuckled at her words. Her words were empowering, but they all knew that they could never do that.

"Our powers are for saving, not for destroying," Neer said, putting sense in his twin, before she did something unthinkable.

"Yeah yeah, I know. I am just saying that we have this option in case things get worse," Ahana replied, making a face.

"The lastest option," Avan said firmly, so that she wouldn't have any ideas.

"Lastest isn't a word," Ahana snorted, but then relented after seeing his pout. "I won't harm them unless and until it isn't a do or die situation."

The elements stopped talking when Gyaan shushed them, pointing his finger to his lips.

"Did you hear the click?" He asked in a whisper.

"A click?" Ahana questioned, but was shushed down immediately by Gyaan.

"Slowly," he whisper-yelled, before answering her, "yeah, the click sounded like a latch opening."

"Did the staff open the door?" Sameera questioned in a low voice, "but no one came in," she wondered with a frown.

They didn't have to think much as the room's door suddenly burst open, and two tall and scary dogs came barreling inside.

Before they all could even grasp the situation, the dogs jumped on top of Sameera and Neer, who were nearest to the door.

It all happened within a fraction of a second, that before the others could get out of the shock, Neer's shirt was already half torned and Sameera received a huge scratch on her hand, as they tried to get away from the dogs.

Gyaan and Ahana ran to get the dogs off. They tried to pull the dogs from behind, and as a result gained some cuts themselves too.

The dogs turned their heads with a huge growl and bared teeth, that even caused Ahana to gulp in fear.

It only took a few seconds for Avan to come out of the shock, but so much damage was already done.

One of the dogs was about to bite hard on Neer's neck when a scream inside his mind stopped him.

"Friend, please stop. Don't do something you will regret," Avan pleaded, speaking with the dog.

A strange noise came out of the dog's mouth, as his head shook, but alas! he was again back to his feral mode.

Not giving up hope, Avan tried again, this time with better focus.

The dogs stopped their attacks again and groaned as they tried to fight between the craziness and Avan's soothing voice.

Unlike the last time, Gyaan and Ahana took advantage of the situation. They pulled out Neer and Sameera before the dogs could go feral again, and moved to tie up the dogs with the rusted chains that were lying around their beds.

It wasn't a full proof solution, but that was the only thing they could think of,  other than hurting the dogs, who were being used by those cruel doctors.

The dogs growled, coming back to their wildness, but were unable to move as the chains restrained them.

"The chains won't last long," Sameera said worriedly, cursing at their luck as they were the ones who had ruined the quality of the strongest chains.

"The door is open. Let's get out of here, no matter who comes in front of us. The doctors have crossed their limits first, so our actions would be only claimed as self-defense," Gyaan said, as fury took over him.

They all would have been dead, if they were still chained. Experimenting for the future of the world was different than brutally harming their test subjects. He could have still forgave them for the first offense, but they broke all the limits by doing this.

"Bhaiya, we can't leave them like this to die," Avan cried. "Bhaiya, please heal them. They don't want to hurt us but they aren't able to control themselves," Avan pleaded.

"I understand what you feel, but how can I heal them when they aren't even injured?" Gyaan questioned.

Ahana glared at him for making Avan cry more. They all knew how deeply connected Avan was to trees and animals.

"Gyaan, please use some of your gyaan and think," Ahana taunted, word-playing with the meaning of his name, before saying, "Illness doesn't always have to be physical. Mental illness is also a thing. Just try, who knows, healing might work."

Gyaan first glared at being taunted, but didn't say anything because Ahana was right.

"But I will lose the energy and won't be able to heal you all," he warned, before placing his hands on the heads of both the dogs.

The space between their head and Gyaan's hand sparkled. The dogs closed their eyes, staying still for a moment before letting out a loud howl in anguish as they remembered what all they had done, after craziness had hit them. They had hurt their own family, who had cared for them, loved them. The dogs couldn't fathom how they could hurt the ones they were meant to protect.

Opening their eyes, they laid down in front of Gyaan and Avan, leaving all their defences aside. They deserved to be punished. And who would be better than the ones who saved them from themselves.

Avan got down from his bed, and caressed the dogs lovingly. The dogs got up after a few moments and started licking his face.

Avan giggled cutely at the lovely attacks.

"Hate to break the cute moment, but we need to get out of here," Ahana said.

Avan nodded and asked the dogs for help to get out of this place.

The dogs didn't know the name of the location, but they showed Avan the directions from where they came.

Along with the directions to go outside, they also informed him about smelling humans in the room next door. And also how they had tried to go inside that room first, but the room was locked. The best thing about the situation- those were the only humans present inside the whole building for now. All others had left for their safety.

The elements glanced at each other with a smirk, as they knew this was their chance.

"Avan, ask the dogs to let out their aggressive barks for at least half an hour more, from now on," Gyaan requested.

"Will we leave them here?" Avan asked concernedly, Knowing that the dogs would get killed by those doctors after they found out the truth.

"No. They will get out after fifteen minutes. That's the time we need to get out of this building. They need to keep barking until we are completely out of here. The doctors won't come out when they think the dogs are still attacking us. Hence, the dogs need to continue barking to create the illusion." Gyaan said.

Neer and Sameera joined hands and created a bubble around the dogs.

They both individually were able to create their own air or water bubble, but the air bubble could burst and the water bubble couldn't fly.

"No harm can come to them until they are inside the bubble. They can't burst my water barrier," Neer said.

"And the bubble will start floating exactly after fifteen minutes, bringing the dogs to us safely," Sameera informed.

To stay on the safe side and for more protection, the elements had combined their powers.

From one problem to another, they had understood one thing: their individual powers were awesome, but when combined- they were unbeatable.
