61- A weirdo confession

"Avan, are you well rested now?" Gyaan questioned once Avan had woken up.

Avan rubbed his eyes, before bobbing his head in a yes.

"Awesome. You have a great role while rescuing Neer," Gyaan said, buttering him up as he knew Avan hated not being included in a mission from the earlier instances. And he worked the best when he was praised.

"Great role? What is it?" Avan came forward towards Gyaan, his small eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Managing Yara is your work. You are the only one who can control; no control isn't a right word; you are the only one who can make a friendly connection with the werewolves and stop them from attacking us.

"Yara is powerful. And except you none of the other elements can stop her from attacking us without harming her. So managing Yara is your duty."

"Yes Sir," Avan said, saluting him like a soldier, ready to perform his duty.

Nodding at Avan, Gyaan then turned towards Ahana, who had thankfully stopped avoiding him once the conversation of rescuing Neer had started.

"Ahana, you will manage Hritika," Gyaan said, earning protests from Sameera and Avan.

"Are you crazy, Gyaan? How can you even suggest that?" Sameera screeched.

"Bhaiya, you just said that we aren't going to harm them," Avan protested, "Ahana Didi's power is scariest of all. That human didi would end up getting hurt."

Although Ahana agreed with Sameera and Avan, it hurt her to know that they were this scared of her powers.

"Relax, what happened back then isn't going to happen again. Ahana herself knows how dangerous her power is, and has always used it with calculation and stability.

"Last time was an exception,  she was scared for Neer's life. The situation had come out of nowhere, but this time she knows what is going to happen and is prepared for it," Gyaan said, having full confidence in Ahana's abilities.

Ahana bit her lips, as she tried to stop her tears. The tears of gratitude for having trusted her even if she had burned him unknowingly.

"You are right," Sameera agreed, "Ahana has always used her power more carefully than any of us do. One bad incident doesn't change that. Sorry Ahana," she apologized, softly squeezing Ahana's hand.

"Don't be. It is natural to be concerned, after the distraction I caused," Ahana said, smiling through her teary eyes.

Ahana turned her head a little to wipe her eyes before they fell, and cleared her throat to get rid of any evidence of her being emotional.

"Anyways," she clapped her hands once, before proposing her idea, "I was thinking to just use my human strength instead of my powers to deal with Hritika. She is physically weaker and has literally no fighting skills. So I was thinking of not using my power unless it becomes absolutely necessary."

"That's a great idea!" Sameera and Avan exclaimed, while Gyaan kept staring at her silently.

"What?" Ahana mouthed, noticing his intense stare.

'Don't be scared of your own power, Ahana,' Gyaan said in his mind. However outside, he just shook his head at Ahana, before turning his attention towards Sameera.

"Sameera, make sure you don't overuse your power. I haven't seen you ever lose energy like us, but please be careful just in case. We don't know how much energy Neer would have left by the time we reach him. So you are going to be our back-up plan to flee from there."

"How? I can't manage to make everyone fly along with me," Sameera said, feeling bad that her power wasn't enough to make everyone fly.

"You can make objects float," Gyaan pointed out. "We are going to combine everyone's powers and float on a patch of ground. We have already done this before," he said, reminding them of the time they used this tactic to get out of the windstorm during the times of multiple disasters.

"But Neer had made the patch of ground flow through the water that time. How is this plan going to work if Neer doesn't have the required energy?" Ahana questioned with worry.

"That's exactly why I need Sameera to be on full power mode. She will have to perform Neer's work alongside her own. The patch of ground is going to float on air and smoke that you and Sameera create instead of water," Gyaan informed them, before saying, "But this is only if water bubbles and the rainbow doesn't work."

Everyone nodded seriously. "We are going to make it out of there by hook or by crook," Gyaan said with determination, providing everyone with much needed motivation.

"Let's do it," Sameera said, standing up.

Gyaan too moved to stand up, only to lose his balance and fell back down.

Ahana's eyes got wide, as she checked whether he was badly hurt. But after finding out he was okay and hearing him chuckle at his clumsiness, she rolled her eyes and stood up to leave. Sameera and Avan too sighed in relief and started walking once they had confirmed that Gyaan was okay.

Ahana stopped walking when she suddenly noticed that Gyaan had fallen behind. She looked back to see him limping and trying hard to match steps with others.

She walked backwards, until she was standing alongside him and wordlessly put his hand over shoulder to help him walk.

"You don't need to do this," Gyaan said. Although he was grateful as walking became much easier because of her help, he was also embarrassed for having put most of his weight on her.

Ahana raised her eyebrows as if saying 'really?'. "We all will be back here with Neer by the time you reach half way."

"Are you helping me or taunting me for my condition?" Gyaan huffed.

"I am just sorry for putting you in this condition," Ahana said in a low voice.

Gyaan sighed. They were bickering after so long and it took a sad turn. Frankly, he missed their banter. It was fun, and it gave them a sense of normalcy.

Not wanting to end it as soon as it started, Gyaan said tongue in cheek, "Why sorry for such an amazing condition? I got to kiss you and now I am almost in your arms. Why would anyone be sorry for making a man's dream come true?" He laughed.

"What a pervert!" Ahana scowled, almost wishing to leave her hold and drop him on the ground.

"Don't drop me," Gyaan said.

"Didn't know peacemakers could read minds," Ahana muttered, before huffing and adjusting Gyaan's arm.

"It is not a peacemaker's power. It is the power of—"

"Don't say it," Ahana stopped him, before he could say something cheesy.

"Whyyy? You didn't even know what I was going to say," Gyaan protested, faking cuteness.

"Stop it. Cuteness doesn't suit you. Leave it for Avan. You look creepy," Ahana said, making a bad face.

"Alright, alright," Gyaan gave up his acting, before coming to a serious topic he was hoping to discuss with Ahana for so long.

"Sooo...our kiss...,"

"Seriously? You want to discuss it right now?" She asked, raising her head to look at the sky in frustration.

"I wanted to talk about it for so long, but you kept avoiding me," Gyaan answered truthfully.

"I can start avoiding you again," Ahana said with a shrug.

"You can't. You are feeling too guilty for my condition to stop helping me. And you can't really avoid me when you are almost carrying me," Gyaan pointed out.

"Smartass," Ahana grumbled under her breath.

Gyaan smiled softly at her grumbling yet blushing form. This was a rare instance where the fierce fire girl looked so cute.

He asked her to stop for a moment as it was a serious moment.

"I won't extend the conversation and embarrass you more than you already are. I will tell you straight away what I feel," Gyaan started. He sounded confident, but his heart was beating crazily with nervousness.

"I have feelings for you. And that kiss meant a lot to me rather than just being a tool to stop you from spreading fire," He confessed, looking at her hopefully.

"Finally!" Sameera said, ruining the moment.

She had come back with Avan when she saw that Gyaan and Ahana weren't following them.

"I am so happy that you finally got courage to confess," She said, so happy for the couple.

"You knew?" Avan asked, his mouth hung open.

"Yeah, for a long time. But this idiot was hesitating thinking about the future," Sameera said, shaking her head, before turning towards Gyaan, "Now I hope you have all your concerns answered."

"I don't know how this is going to turn out in future. Whether we will work out or we will end up messing the whole group of elements. I thought a lot about it yet I have no answers. So for once, this peacemaker has decided to not search for answers this time, and leave it entirely to the fate," Gyaan answered, before saying, "That is, if she agrees."

"For that, you need to propose to her first," Sameera tutted at him.

"I was doing just that, before you interrupted," Gyaan deadpanned.

"Here," Sameera asked in shock, "In the middle of the forest, with no flowers, no gifts, nothing. You aren't even dressed properly."

Gyaan scratched his head, before looking at Ahana nervously. "You wanted a grand proposal?"

"Forget rejecting, I would have killed you if you did all that lovey-dovey shit," Ahana said, looking at him with a 'don't you dare' expression.

She removed his hand from her shoulder and let him take support of the nearby tree, before walking away.

Gyaan patted his heart, sighing in relief that he didn't make a blunder, before a realization struck him.

"Wait!" He yelled, looking at her back, "Does that mean it's a yes? Are we a couple?"

Turning her head slightly, she yelled back, "It's a no if you don't stop yelling and creating a scene."

Gyaan's face fell down after hearing No. It took a second too late for him to realize what exactly her sentence meant. Leave it upto Ahana to confuse him till the very end.

Gyaan whopped in the air with joy at the indirect Yes. He ended up losing his balance and falling down.

Sameera and Avan screamed Gyaan's name, while Ahana ran back in panic, only to find Gyaan smiling widely in joy, despite the body pain.
