Chapter two

The man, who called himself Berwald, had set you down in the house, on a couch, and given you a blanket. This still seemed like kidnapping to you though. He now sat on the couch directly across from you, along with some other people. They stared at you for a bit before the one with a weird hat spoke up.

"Uh, Hi! I'm Tino! You've met Berwald, and this is Lucas, Mathias, and Emil! He said, pointing to the spiky-haired man, the one with seemingly no expression, and finally the one with a puffin on his shoulder.

"I've been kidnapped," you state, wrapping the blanket closer around you for warmth and protection from the strangers. They seemed nice enough, but that could be fake.

"No, you haven't silly! We rescued you from the cold winter snowstorm!" Said Mathias, grinning.

"Well, when you think about it, I have been kidnapped. A stranger took me against my will to somewhere I don't know. Sounds a lot like kidnapping to me." You say, sinking into the blanket so that only your eyes could be seen.

"Well, we'll let you go home when the storm dies down! So it isn't kidnapping!" He says in defiance of my claim.

"Bonta gentile, per quantotempo saro bloccato qui?" You mutter in your native language.

"You're Italian?" Lucas askes, still with no expression to show what he could be thinking. Kinda concerning considering that kinda sounds like something a serial killer would have as a trait.

"Ya," You state flatly.

"That's so cool! I've only met a couple Italians! Only at the conferences though." Says Tino, muttering the last part, probably assuming you couldn't hear that part, but you heard it.

Lucas looks over at Tino and gives him a look as if saying to be mindful of what he says. Could they be holding a secret. Were they all serial killers!?

"So, now what?" says Emil, looking a bit timid around you, as if he was afraid you would do something to him, or say something. You started to wonder what each person in this unique group felt about this whole situation.

Wait a minute....

"Hey, hold on. How in the heck did you know I was out there? I don't know you, or anyone else in the nearby villages, no one could have told you I left." You asked suspiciously.

Mathias looked nervous slightly, then stated,

"We had no idea, Berwald just found you I guess!"

"But when I arrived, you said something indicating that he had been looking for someone, and that, Lucas, had sensed someone." You said, calling Mathias out on his bluff.

"Oh, I-I did say that." He chuckled.

"Ya, you did, done found you out." You say in triumph.

"What?" Berwald says.

"Little American phrase." You say, a bit embarrased. You didn't really mean to say that, and it made you sound a tad bit dumb like you didn't know how to speak English right.

"You speak Italian and English?" asked Tino, sounding curious. You figured that talking to these people was alright because you weren't going anywhere in this storm anyway.

"English, Italian, and Norwegian." You said.

Lucas seemed to perk up a small bit at the Norwegian part. Now that you think about, Mathias did call him Nor, like short for Norway. That could just be a nickname, but you had a sinking feeling that something bigger was going on right before your eyes, and all you had to do was figure it out, then all the dots would connect. But until then, you just had to listen, and conversate.

This whole situation was peaking your interest much more than your normal book reading and drawing. You loved to draw and read, but this was exciting. But it could be dangerous, so you had to be careful. These people could dangerous. They did live all the way out here in the forest after all. Then again so do you.

"My questions still stands then." You say, getting back on track.

"Ever heard of magic?" Says Mathias, earning a smack on the head from Lucas.

"Magic isn't real. Those are just stories aren't they?" You question, even more, interested now. Was magic involved in this? You had always had a sneaking suspicion that magic was real since sometimes you saw things that were there only for a small time, but no one else saw them.

"Of course not. Magic isn't real." Said Lucas, who was now choking Mathias with his own tie. You were slightly concerned for the spiky-haired man, but he seemed to be alright after Lucas let him go.

Suddenly, the door burst open, letting cold air rush in. A man ran in and started yelling and hid behind the couch.

"RUSSIA'S GOING TO KILL ME SOMEONE HELP ME!" He yelled, with an Italian accent.

Berwald got up and picked you up again.

"Sorry about all this." He states as he runs up the stairs, sets you down in a room and closes the door, locking it.

What the heck?!
