You couldn't help but smile as you watched the sun rise over the trees. "Its so pretty!" You gush. Kid blinks and looks at you.
"I'm glad you're still having fun," He rumbles thoughtfully.
"You have to admit, this is pretty exciting!" You hug his arm happily. He blinks and smiles looking ahead.
"Youre something else..." He comments.
"Yeah, I could be an alien! Roar!" You nip his shoulder playfully. He chuckles at that, trying to pull away squeaking the toy and making you giggle. "Oh no! My weakness!" You almost fall over but he swiftly brings you into his chest. You pause and meet his gaze.
"Careful." He rumbles. You blink and smile hugging him close. "You okay?" He raises an eyebrow. You nod meeting his gaze.
"Yeah, I just don't feel scared when I'm with you." You admit. He chuckles at that, pink dusting his cheeks.
"You scared? Impossible." He rumbles in amusement.
"Fine... Worried then." You hum.
"Still doesn't sound like you... But I'm glad you aren't." He tilts his head thoughtfully looking into your eyes. You blink and blush before hiding your face in his chest, hugging him tighter. Kid smiles and looks around as he hugs you back. "We should keep moving." He says softly.
"Right, lets go."
The path leads you into a forest area. You grip Kid's hand as you look around warily. "Gotta admit... This looks pretty damn cool... Look, the leaves look like gold when they fall." He comments.
"It is pretty..." You hum, trying to relax. Kid peers at you before squeezing the squeaky toy. You jump and blink at him.
"Relax, we have all we need to protect ourselves." He rumbles.
"Right.... And I have you." You smile thoughtfully. He pauses, pink tinting his cheeks.
"I'll protect you." He agree, touching his forehead to yours.
"Then I'll protect you too." You decide. He chuckles lightly at that.
"Then we have nothing to worry about." He states. You watch him a moment or two.
"Do you think the nano bots are still following us?" You inquire.
"I really hope not." He grimaces. "Can you imagine someone watching us."
"I got shivers." You sigh.
"Lets just say they're gone then." He chuckles before taking the lead again.
"Right..." You smile following him closely.
"Hey, looks like the others have been this way." He speaks up suddenly. You follow his gaze to footprints in the black soil up ahead.
"Boots... Wasn't Law wearing boots?" You try to remember.
"Him and Capone." Kid scratches his head.
"I'd prefer it be Law." You mutter. You both share a look.
"Think they got eaten?" He asks before you both carry on.
"That's not really something I want to wonder about Kid...." You frown.
"Right.... Sorry," He chuckles sheepishly. The forest soon opens up to a waterfall that glimmered with a purple hue.
"Wow...." You breathe leaning on him.
"That's what we said." A familiar voice rumbles, making you both look over at Luffy and Zoro.
"Hey!" You and Luffy greet each other.
"Last night was crazy, what exactly happened?" Kid asks them.
"Those things came out of no where, landed on Capone's tent first. Gov tried to scare them off but they jumped on him. He told us to go to the next camp." Zoro explains.
"Then Zoro got lost, and that's how we found you guys!" Luffy chimes.
"I'm glad you two are okay," You smile relaxing a bit more. "Wait... Does that mean we're lost?" You look to Kid.
"No, I can read a map sweetheart, these guys just got lucky and ran into us." He assures.
"Alright good, lets keep moving, we're near the camp right?" You ask Kid. He looks over the map and nods.
"Just on the other side of this." He nods to the forest. You smile and relax, leaning on him a bit.
"Lead the way partner." You hum looking up at him. He blinks, meeting your gaze with a smirk before leading the way.
"Hey look, we found some berries that look like they have sunsets on them! They're really sweet too!" Luffy gushes showing you.
"Wow... So pretty!" You breathe.
"Dude... Did you seriously eat alien berries?" Kid frowns. "They could've been poisonous."
"We saw some birds eating them and figured it would be okay." Zoro shrugs.
"We haven't seen any birds." You tilt your head.
"They're really cute! Puffy, tiny, a little beak, and they chirp like bells!" Luffy tells you.
"But they run around on four legs," Zoro adds. "I don't think they fly."
"That would explain why we haven't seen..." Kid stops, pulling you into his side. You blink at him before looking around warily. You duck down and point at a large shape as it shuffles through the trees. The guys get down, watching it quietly. It was still a bit far to see clearly, which made your curiosity peak.
An elephant? A dinosaur? It was silver with feather like hide. You and Luffy move closer quietly, making Zoro and Kid pale, reaching for you both. A little closer and you could make out the beast. The body of a massive bear and the head of an owl, yellow and orange eyes focused on a neon blue flower near the top of a tree, cooing at it deeply, long lion like tail swishing behind it. Luffy grins at sight of it, becoming excited.
"So cool!" He whispers, making the beast's head turn to you both in an instant. You pale as it's eyes lock on you both, not leaving you as it turns to you.
"We should run." You breathe. Luffy nods and you both take off with Kid and Zoro.
"You two are so impulsive!" Kid scolds.
"You have no room to talk Kid." You deadpan as trees crash down as the beast gives chase.
"What do we do about that!?" Zoro looks over his shoulder as Luffy drags him along.
"Maybe one of our items will work!" Kid says, squeaking the chew toy at it. "Toy doesn't work!" He says. You grab the cowbell from the bag and make it chime, still no response. Luffy pulls out a pumpkin from his bag and holds it up. The beast freezes at that and everyone stops running to watch it as it fluffs up, staring at the pumpkin. You and Luffy share a glance.
"Rahhhhh!" He roars, thrusting it toward the beast making it jump back burst away, causing a tree to fall toward you in it's panic.
"___!" Kid tackles you out of the way swiftly. You cough as the ground shutters from the impact of the tree. Kid lifts himself up and you both look the other over. He soon meets your gaze and pink dusts his cheeks.
"Are you okay?" You breathe cupping his face.
"Yeah, you?" He asks touching your arm lightly.
"Mhm good save." You murmur offering a smile. He nods and smiles back getting up and pulling you to your feet, helping you dust off.
"That was too close." He mutters. You shrug and look over to Luffy and Zoro.
"So... Do you guys want to be alone?" Zoro asks awkwardly.
"Why would they want to be alone?" Luffy asks confused while you blush.
"Um... Are we any closer to the camp?" You ask Kid. He pauses and checks over the map before looking around.
"Yeah, looks like we're closer now. This way." He says leading the way again. Soon the trees open up to field, tents set up next to a great lake. Luffy cheers and rushes ahead with Zoro close behind. You stop to take in the view. Kid pauses and looks back at you as you turn on your phone, eyes not leaving the scenery.
"Come here." You breathe turning your back to it. Kid moves to your side as you hold up your phone to take a picture, pulling him closer. You pause and frown trying to get the whole view with you two.
"Here, let me." He moves behind you, and taking the phone. He holds you closer, resting his chin on your shoulder. It still wasn't right, he frowns and falls back on the grass with you, making you squeak. "There, maybe this is better."
"A little warning next time." You giggle. He gives you a slight smile.
"If I remember." He hums before holding up the phone again. "That's better, smile." He rumbles, you smile and lean your temple against his cheek. Kid smiles more and snaps the picture before showing you it.
"Yes! I love it." You gush, grinning at the picture. Kid smiles watching you quietly.
"Send it to me when we get back." He hums. You nod and put your phone back in your pocket before relaxing against him. "We should go set up our tent-" He moves to get up but you turn and hug him, keeping him in place. He blinks down at you in slight surprise.
"What's the rush? We're here aren't we?" You murmur looking up at him. Pink dusts his cheeks and he smiles at you.
"Alright, so you want to cuddle right now instead?" He teases. You chuckle lightly and smirk.
"No, I'm going to eat ya." You snap your teeth at him.
"Oh no! The alien is going to get me!" He rumbles leaning back as you nip at him. You giggle and pull him back in, nipping his chin. He chuckles and puts a finger to your lips. "Hey now you're supposed to be my partner, you can't eat me."
"Yeah, I would miss you." You comment thoughtfully pinching his cheek lightly.
"Really now?" He inquires poking your cheeks.
"Really." You smile before mushing his face playfully.
"What's this? You trying to turn me into an alien?" Kid jokes lightly trying to pull away.
"Yesh! Then we'll eat the others!" You reply with a giggle.
"Mm I don't think they'll taste very good." He shakes his head.
"Probably not." You agree and release his face. He smiles at you again and you feel your chest swell, leaning forward and enjoying the pink that spreads across his face as he starts to lean toward you.
"Hey love birds! Looks like youu beat us!" Drake's voice makes you both look toward the forest as he and Law leave it.
"Yep..."
