I looked out the window of Shuri's lab a few days after Bucky and I's conversation. We were going into cryofreeze in a little while until Shuri could get the programming out of our heads, and I was vaguely aware that I had no idea how long it would take. I could be under for months, years even. I looked back as I heard footsteps behind me to see Pietro walking over, a sad smile on his face.

"Shuri said they're almost ready," he said. "Are you?" I sighed, looking back out the window.

"I don't know," I said truthfully. "I guess I'm just realizing that it could be years before I come back. I'm not..." He sighed and nodded.

"I know. I've thought about it too." He wrapped his arms around me. "I'm coming to terms with the fact that it might be a long time until I see you again." I swallowed thickly, stepping back and shaking my head.

"I'm sorry," I said quietly. He lifted my head to look at him.

"You don't have to apologize," he said, smiling softly. "You just have to do what you think is right." I smiled sadly up at him.

"This is what's right." He nodded. "I can't hurt anyone else if I'm under, and once Shuri gets this out of me and Bucky's heads, I'll be back with you again." He nodded again, and I hugged him tightly, almost afraid to let go.

"It's okay, Љубави моја," he said quietly. "We'll be back together before you know it." I looked up at him and kissed him softly. Too soon, someone cleared their throat, and I stepped back to see Bucky standing in the door to the lab.

"They said they're ready, Chris," he said quietly, like he knew I didn't want to leave Pietro. I nodded and looked up at Pietro, pecking his lips one last time before walking into the lab with Bucky and sitting on one of the tables so Shuri could prep me to go under.

"You guys sure about this?" Steve asked. Bucky looked at me, then back at Steve, and nodded.

"We can't trust our own minds," he said. "So, until they figure out how to get this stuff out of our heads we think going back under is the best thing." He looked at me. "For everybody." I smiled sadly and nodded, and soon I was standing in the cryo-chamber. The door closed, and I locked eyes with Bucky from across the room. He gave me a reassuring smile, and my skin started to go numb from the cold before everything went dark.

3rd Person POV

Pietro stood outside the lab in Wakanda, arms crossed, as he looked out the window. He looked up as Steve walked over to him.

"Are they under?" he asked. Steve nodded quietly, and Pietro looked back out the window, holding back tears.

"Hey." The speedster looked up at Steve. "She's gonna be okay. She won't be under forever." Pietro nodded.

"No, I- I know she won't." He looked down. "I'm just gonna miss her." Steve smiled sadly.

"I know you are, kid. I'm gonna miss him too. He's been my best friend for a hundred years." Pietro chuckled quietly. "The best thing we can do for them is hope that it doesn't take too long. But however long it takes, they're gonna be a lot better when they come out." Pietro nodded, and Steve headed away, trying to believe his own words.
