Chapter 14

This is dedicated to Josie (KozyKit) because she has been reading this since forever and she leaves wonderful comments that always make me smile so much! Thank you!

I know I haven't updated lately. I'm behind on writing three books right now. I'm not promising frequent updates, but I WILL update it you just have to trust me. :)

Also I've joined a Percy Jackson One Shots challenge so if you want, go check my one shots out(they have their own book)! Most of them are funny but I've got a sad one in there too.

Enjoy!

You knew you must be dreaming. Why else would it rain cotton candy? It was summer and you were in a field of spun sugar and it was raining cotton candy. Everything was peaceful and quiet. It was perfect. Except for the warmth. It was boiling! Not literally of course but very warm. You took off at a run, sprinting towards the horizon and the never-ending sugar grass. You tripped and fell but the grass just crumbled beneath you lying you down softly. It was so pretty. They sky was yellow and the pink and blue cotton candy drifted down lightly around you. You laughed without sound and rolled over and down the hill that had just appeared. It was soft but you spun fast. Faster faster and then. . .

BOOM! A glaring face right in yours. You were sitting in a hard wooden chair facing a woman who you assumed to be Athena based off the glare, armor, and owl on her shoulder.

"Hi." You said, a bit nervous. "Hello." She said, still staring right into your eyes or, perhaps, your soul.  She continued staring at you. You wiggled, uncomfortable. "So . . . Mom. . . why am I here?" You asked. "Because I brought you here." She said never taking her eyes off of you. "I assumed that much but why?" You asked a little abruptly.

"I wanted to talk. About Leo." She replied, her tone of voice never changing. "Ok?" You replied nervously. "I always check on my children and their love lives especially when Aphrodite intervenes an- " You interrupted her. "What do you mean when Aphrodite intervenes? What did she do?" She sighed. "Isn't it obvious? She sent Calypso to liven it up! And don't interrupt me again." She said sounding annoyed. You nodded not trusting yourself not to shout at a certain love goddess. "As I was saying I would like to meet this Leo. I think you've made a better choice than Annabeth because he's not a complete idiot," at this you felt your fists clench. " We will have dinner together at six tonight. Hephaestus will be there. Wear something nice please and don't make a fool out of yourself.  Now they're trying to wake you up so be on your way. "

You felt your eyes open and found yourself in a hospital bed again. You felt a very warm pair of arms around your waist and saw Leo hugging you from behind. As much as it was cute and you loved the cuddles he was very warm so you gently unwrapped his arms from your middle and got up. He woke up almost instantly.

"Morning osito." (It means cuddle bear in Spanish) he said, sitting up and trying to get his hair out of his eyes. "Good morning." You answered, rubbing your eyes. " I had a dream. " You said. "We'll that's never good. What do we have to do? Fight unbeatable creatures? Slay monsters? Eat vegetables?" He said. "We have to go and have dinner with our godly parents." You replied. "Even worse." He sighed and got up.

Will walked into the room. "Well well well. The dead rise." He drawled. "I'm sure you know lots about the dead, considering who your boyfriend is." You snapped back, a little grouchy from the visit with you mother. "My boyfriend? What are you talking about? Nico doesn't ev-" His mouth snapped shut so fast you heard his teeth clack. You smirked knowingly and Leo looked a bit surprised but then smiled.

"As I was saying," Will continued regaining his composure. "You two are awake. I hope there wasn't any fornication last night. I can do a check up on your ankle now too." Your face turned as red as a radish and it felt like it might blow up.  You slapped Will's arm, hard. You wouldn't meet Leo eyes. "Leo, go get breakfast or something while I check Y/N's ankle." Will said calmly. Leo hurried out of the bunk, his face probably as red as yours. Will bent down feeling your ankle and muttering. "Leo's a good guy Y/N, give him a second chance ok? It wasn't his fault. Your ankle's fine but don't do anything too extreme ok?" He said after a minute. "Of course I'm not mad at Leo!" You said, getting up. "Why would we be cuddling if I was mad? Much less fornicating." You said with using his words. "Calypso kissed him. Speaking of which. . . " You stood up quickly and began to walk for the door. "Y/N, I really don't recommend a fist fight right now!" He called after you. "Try and talk to her first!"

You marched for the Big House where she had been staying. Your stomach grumbled so loudly though that you changed your mind and headed for the dining hall instead. Food first. Then I'll settle things with Calypso. As you sat down beside Annabeth at the table you saw Isla and Calypso sitting at a table together. "Why isn't Isla sitting at the Hermes table?" You questioned her. "No good morning?" She said. "Isla was claimed last night by Discordia, Roman goddess of confusion. I think she might want to go to the other camp soon though." It made so much sense. How she had always confused you when you talked to her. How she always seemed undecided. It made so much sense! You looked over at her and Calypso and saw them laughing together. "Ben was also claimed by Oizys, the goddess of depression." She added. "Oh. Neat." You finished your breakfast, and picked up a mandarin orange.

You were looking at Calypso. You saw her and Isla hug. Isla fed her a piece of toast. Calypso put her head on Isla's shoulder. Yes, she was your boyfriends ex. Yes, she kissed him. Yes, she had to fall in love with everyone who landed on her island and get her heart broken every time. Yes, she had fallen in love with him. Yes, he had rescued her. Yes, the curse had worn off and she had left him. Yes, you were mad at her. Yes, you pitied her. Everyone she had ever loved had left her and then she had left someone herself. You got up. Your peeled orange came with you.

As you approached the table where Calypso and Isla were sitting you threw the orange at Calypso as hard as possible. It hit her right in the stomach and the juice dripped down her dress. You stood beside her glaring down. "Can we talk?" You said phrasing it as a question but your tone of voice said otherwise. She almost glared back but decided it was better to go with you and got up. You led her a little way out of the dining pavilion.

"It's just that I-" She started to say but you cut her off. "No. Let me talk first. You fell in love with Leo and he died rescuing you and then you broke up with him and he was devastated because he thought he had loved you and then we got together and then you just come along out of nowhere and kiss him." You, paused taking a breath. "My only question is why. So, why?"

"I don't love him Y/N." She said her voice breaking a bit. "Let me tell you a bit of my story. So you know that I was sent to live on that island because I Atlas is my dad when Zeus took over, right?" You nodded. "What people never hear is that I was in love with this mortal girl. This beautiful wonderful girl. She made the sun come up for me every day. She was the most amazing creature on earth. I told her this and it turned out that she loved me too. We were together for approximately half a year before the war started. We were separated for a long time but when it ended it so happened that Zeus had taken a liking to her too. He forbid me to be with her and banished me to my island doomed to fall in love only with whomever Zeus sent. I don't know what happened to her after that, I never saw her again."

A tear started to fall down Calypso's face and you felt yourself begin to tear up as well. Calypso took a shuddering breath and began the story again. "I lived on there for so long. My heart breaking every couple years. I missed her so much for the first hundred or so years but eventually I began to doubt myself. Maybe this was Zeus' intention but I fell in love so easily with the men he sent I started to believe that perhaps I had never been in love, really. I'll skip a few years to when Leo got there. I wanted to see if I could avoid the curse so I was cruel to him to make him go away so that if hearts were to be broken the only one that would would be mine. It didn't work. He left for who knows how long and when he came back I was so happy. Maybe the curse had been lifted. Maybe I could go out into the world with someone I loved. But I realized soon after that I didn't love him. The curse had made me but really I had no feelings for him. He's a great guy but I don't love him. I left him hoping to find myself and enrolled in your school by accident a few weeks before you left. There I met Isla and I've been so happy ever since. I think I might be in love again. But it was so hard to know once we arrived here because I feel like I can't trust my emotions any more. And so as some sort of test I kissed him. I felt nothing except for lips. There was no spark, no butterflies. And I'm so sorry Y/N. I'm sorry I hurt him. I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm sorry. . .

She had started crying and you were too so, instinctively you wrapped your arm around her shoulders and the two of you sat down on the grass. "It's ok." You said after a few minutes. "I'm not mad anymore. You're going to be ok." She sniffled. "Thank you so much. I'm still so sorry though. I want you both to be happy!" She said. "We are. And you will be too. Maybe even with a certain someone." You said with a pointed nod back at the table Isla was sitting at. Calypso blushed and got up brushing off her pants. "Thank you. I really should get changed now though." She said gesturing to the large orange juice stain on the front of her dress. "Oh! I'm so sorry Calypso!" You said quickly. "Don't worry. I think I'm lucky I only got away with a stain on my shirt." She laughed and you laughed with her.

You sat down on the grass lost deep in thought as you watched Calypso walk in her white gown to the Big House and step inside.

PLOT TWIST!

What did you think? That was one of my big plot twists from the start so I hope you like it.

I also just found out that Wattpad is glitching and counting me as a reader so I don't actually have 1K reads because I don't count. So that's sad. Next chapter is the dinner with the gods!

When we get close to Christmas I'll do some Christmas themed chapters too!

Until next time my Greek geeks!
