Chapter 2

Word count: 7225

"Give it you worst." Obito said determined. Rin poked Obito's rib, making his concentrations fade away. He immediately looked at Rin and tried to hide his embarrassment.

"Obito, I don't really think that's really what you should to say given what we're about to see..." Rin mumbled.

"Rin is right, y'know? We should all just stay positive about this. Maybe it isn't as bad as we think..." Kushina said right before the video started.

Everyone got silent as the white screen began to show the first scene.

The Third Hokage was sitting down in his office, speaking with the Village Elders about the war, observing the casualties and events that had occurred the past week.

So far, the Fire Country had suffered great loses, but also gained a lot as well. Today, to be exact, the village finally got a hold on the location where the Iwagakure was transporting their supplies. It was a vital information for Konoha to know. If they were able to destroy that supply line, they would sure win the battle.

"From the positions of the enemy's backup, we've determined that it would be vital to take these points." Homura said as he pointed the mentioned points on the map sitting in front of the three elders.

"The Kannabi Bridge, huh?" Lord Sandaime mumbled as he stared at the map.

"We need to come up with a plan to destroy it right away." Koharu commented.

"Who are they anyway?" Obito asked Rin quietly. Rin gasped out loud, making Minato look at his students.

"Obito! How could you not know who these people are?!" Rin scolded her teammate. Obito only shrugged in reply. "I never seen them." He tried to protect his pride. "They are the village elders, you idiot. They are part of the council." Kakashi said annoyed.

Minato sighed at his team. They weren't even two minutes into it and they were already fighting.

"Right now, many battles are being waged, so there are only a select few to choose from." The Hokage stated as he looked through the data book of all the ninja's of Konoha. The elders only nod at Sandaime in response.

"For this mission, we'll appoint the four man cell of Jounin Namikaze Minato: Hatake Kakashi, Uchiha Obito and Nohara Rin."

The elders didn't seemed really pleased by that choice. Not that they didn't believe in their strength, but the recent loses had made them more precautions of their choices. They didn't want to lose another good set of shinobi's during this war.

"They're all quite young, aren't they? Even that Minato..." Homura began but was cut off by Koharu who spoke up before he could finish what he had to say. "Well, due to the situation, our hands are tied."

"A select few? So I'm guessing most of the ninja's left on the battlefield at that point." Fugaku said, making everyone look at him and then back at the screen.

The scenery changed to a forest.

Obito was running as fast as could, jumping on the trees, avoiding rocks as best as he could, only to reach to his destination.

Everyone was looking at the future Obito, who wasn't as different as the one they had next to them. Obito was getting excited, poking Rin and his Sensei, pointing at himself as he almost let out a few sounds of excitement.

Kakashi only rolled his eyes his teammate's excitement. He couldn't see why would Obito be so happy to see himself. It was like there were two Obito's now, and even though the Obito from the future wasn't exactly with them, he was still getting annoyed only by his double presence.

'This is bad! I'll be dead meat at this rate.' Obito thought as he started to run even more faster.

Most of the people were now begining to question the possibilities of what could possibly have happened for Obito to say that; whereas the rest of his team, by now, were starting to understand a little why he would be panicking like this.

Most likely, he was late.

'Will I make it?' And with just one stray look from his horizon, Obito tripped over a vine that was lying on the branch he just jumped on.

Obito landed on his face, letting out a small hiss. A person stepped in front of him. Obito immediately shot his head up and looked at the person who stood in front of him.

"Did I make it?" Obito asked hopeful. The person's face was revealed and turned out to be none other than Kakashi. "Nope. You're awfully late as always." Kakashi replied to his teammate who was still lying on the ground.

"Seems like you're always late, huh, Obito?" Jiraiya teased Obito. "Since when are you aware of your surroundings!" Obito cried out as he pointed at the Sannin, trying to protect the little pride he still had left.

Kushina only chuckled at the two, whereas Minato was begging to regret the decision of choosing to sit where he sat.

"Shut the hell up you two!" Tsunade yelled making Obito and Jiraiya stop their little insult fight and immediately sit quietly in their sit.

Fugaku and Kakashi seemed to have the same opinion as Tsunade and gave her a nod for making justice.

Kakashi kneeled in front of his teammate, making Obito cringe a little at his presence and his comment he was about to say.

"When did you think we were supposed to meet up? When becoming a full-fledged ninja, following the rules is common sense, right?"

Behind Kakashi stood Rin who was admiring the sky but quickly turned her attention to her teammates who seemed they were a few comments away from starting another argument. On the boulder next to them, sat down none other than the Yellow Flash himself, who didn't even bother to look at the fight.

"No, you see, while coming here, I ended up having to help an old lady, who had too much luggage, cross the street. Oh... And something's in my eye." Obito's eye began to sting a little so he removed his goggles and grabbed his eye drops.

"Why do you always have to use that excuse? It's obvious that you are lying." Kakashi snorted making Obito give him a not so friendly glare.

"I don't lie, Kakashi for your information. I always end up helping old people while I'm on my way to the trainings and all." Obito replied as he crossed his arms.

"In which, most of the times, you are already running late for trainings or missions. Isn't that right?" Obito couldn't see Kakashi's entire face but he was more than sure he was smirking. Obito only let out a small snort and looked back at the screen, not bothering to actually reply to Kakashi.

"Yeah, right. That's a lie, isn't?" Future Kakashi asked as Obito began apply his eye drops. Minato closed his eyes as he listened to Kakashi's coments and began to chukle.

"Don't say that, Kakashi. You helped the old lady, didn't you, Obito?" Minato smiled at his student. "I even carried her luggage!" Obito replied. Kakashi placed his hands on his shoulder and looked back at his Sensei.

"Sensei, you're too easy on him. If he keeps acting up like this around people, they'll just be in trouble, right? Those who break the rules and regulations are called trash. Right?"

"Oh wow. You really are into all the regulations and rules as they say. Pretty strict for just a kid." Jiraiya said as he looked at Kakashi, but the young Jounin didn't even bother to look back at him.

Minato laughed akwardly and pushed that comment away, not wanting to really have to answer it.

"Can't you ever be nice sometimes?" Obito said as he rubbed his eyes. "You're always about these 'rules' and 'laws', and it's getting annoying! What it matters is discipline." He finished, looking away from Kakashi.

Rin and Minato looked at each other and put on a emphatic smile.

"Now, now, stop fighting. You're on the same team, you know?"

"Rin, that's never going to work, dattebane!" Kushina shook her head as Tsunade approved with her.

"You gotta be strict and straight forward. If they don't listen to your warning once, make them see sense with your own hands." Tsunade continued making the other guys gulp. Rin let out a nervous chuckle and turned her attention back to the screen.

"You aren't going to become violent, are you?" Obito asked quietly but Rin never replied, making him get more anxious than ever.

"Rin, you're too soft on him."

"See what I say?" Kushina continued to shook her head. "Words just don't work." She continued making Tsunade nod at her once again.

"Kakashi, you are not exactly helping." Obito hissed at his teammate. "I didn't even say anything." Kakashi hissed back at him. "Your future self did!"

"Today is a very special day for me." Kakashi continued, leaving Obito confused on the ground.

"Y-yeah, that's right."

"Why is that again?" Obito mumbled to himself.

"Really, Obito? We discussed this!" Rin scolded Obito, hitting his shoulder. "Oww! Sorry I forgot!" Obito apologized as he proceeded to rub the sore spot.

The team began to walk towards the border. Minato was the only one informed entirely about the mission, so he still had to explain most of the mission to his students.

"Starting today, Kakashi is a Jounin, just like me. So, to make this mission more efficient, we're going to split into two teams. Since Konoha's military power has reached an all-time low now."

"Split up? Then..." Obito thought out loud. Minato looked back at his student and gave him a faint smile. "Yeah, that's right. With Kakashi as the captain, you'll form a three man cell, and I'll go alone."

Obito was slowly starting to remember their conversation last week about this. Kakashi was promoted as a Jounin today. Leaving him and Rin just some Chunin's.

"Didn't we talk about this before already, Obito? Did you get a present for Kakashi?" Rin asked.

And with that question alone, Obito felt his heart drop into his stomach. He forgot. It wasn't like he didn't wanted to give his fellow teammate a gift for his well deserved rank promotion (even thought he still couldn't understand how he got promoted that easily), he just completely forgot.

"Sorry I wasn't listening." Obito said under his breath, avoiding Kakashi's glare.

"So much for the element of surprise." Minato sighed.

Now there was no point in hiding the fact that they planned to give Kakashi a present for his promotion.

"Well, I suppose I should thank you for at least thinking to get me present. Although, it really wasn't necessary." Kakashi said making Minato and Rin smile. Obito only scoffed at him. Who does he think he is anyway?

"Well, at least it doesn't show us what presents you were thinking of giving him." Kushina smiled at her fiance.

"Yeah, you're right."

"This is from me. It's a custom made kunai." Minato said as he pulled out of his backpack the mentioned kunai.

Jiraiya burst out laughing and so did Tsunade.

"What were you saying Kushina?" Jiraiya wimped away his tear from all the laughing.

"Is it even vital to show this?" Minato asked a little annoyed as his surprise present was totally ruined. The hooded man only nod at him making Minato sigh once again for the night.

"It's a little heavy, and the shape is kinda irregular, but when you get used to it, it's really easy to use." Minato explained before handing the kunai to Kakashi, who thanked him.

Rin was next.

"This is from me. Here!" She said as she handed him his present. "It's a special medical pack for personal use. It's been improved, so it's very easy to use." Rin smiled at him.

"Thank you."

And then, the only one left was Obito.

"Heh? What are you looking for? I didn't get you anything." Obito said, almost annoyed at Kakashi's attitude.

"Well, whatever. It's not like you'd give me anything decent anyway. Anything you would have brought would just become useless luggage." Kakashi talked back.

"That was a bit harsh." Kushina said taking a quick look at Obito and Kakashi.

"Useless luggage. Hmph!" Obito puffed as he moved closer to his sensei.

"How the hell you ever became a Jounin, I'll never know!" Obito continued.

"Is this with what you have to live with every single day?" Tsunade asked Minato who only chuckled awkwardly at the question.

"Say, the brat is now is Jounin. Congratulations, Kakashi. That's a great achievement for a shinobi, you know?" Jiraiya smiled at him. Kakashi only looked at Jiriaya and said a small thanks, leaving Jiraiya a little annoyed with the answer he got. "Damn brat." He said under his breath.

"You're the one to talk." Kakashi replied back, making Obito more annoyed than he already was.

"I am Uchiha Obito of the Uchiha clan, one day I'm going to surpass you once I awaken my Sharingan!" Obito said proudly.

"I thought the Uchiha's are supposes to be elites. I guess they expected too much of you when entrusting you with a title like that."

"What!?" Obito yelled out as he stepped closer to Kakashi. They didn't even crossed the border and they were already fighting.

Rin interfered between them, stopping an unnecessary long fight between the two.

Obito and Kakashi refused to apologize to one another. They didn't even want to look at each other.

Rin was actually getting annoyed by the two of them for once. They're always like this. Why can't they just act like a team for once?

"Okay, can I explain the mission now? We almost crossed the border." And with that said, everyone's attention turned to their Sensei.

The team stopped under a tree. Minato pulled out his map and placed it on the bolder in front of them.

"Got it? It's this line. Right now, the Hidden Stone is invading the Hidden Grass village. Of course, the enemy are Hidden Stone shinobis. We have information that they have over a thousand ninja at the front line already." Minato explained as he pointed on the map at the locations mentioned.

"Over a thousand?!" Kushina gasped out along with the others.

"They're advancing a lot faster than before." Obito commented.

"Hidden Leaf also borders with the Hidden Grass, so if we wait, it's going to be too late." Kakashi said as he examined the current situation.

"This is already getting intense." Jiraiay said as he straighted himself up.

"Based on the way they're advancing, their backup must be pretty smooth as well, right?" Rin said.

"Well, our mission this time is here: Kannabi Bridge." Minato pointed at the location. "In order to strike back at the enemy, we need a lot of manpower. To be able to do this, we, the few select ninja, are going to sabotage them." He continued.

"The bridge... So, this is a sneaking mission?" Kakashi asked.

"Team Kakashi, your mission is to infiltrate the enemy's back line, then to blow up the bridge they're using for supplies before withdrawing."

"Just as I suspected." Fugaku nod at the screen.

"Seems rather easy if you say it like that, Minato." Tsunade said as she looked towards him.

"Well, no one said it would be easy." Kushina murmured.

"Yes, sir." The young shinobi's replied.

"What about you, Sensei?" Obito asked, a little concerned.

"I'll engage the enemy's front lines in order to divert them away from you guys. Well, this is Kakashi's first mission as captain, so we'll go together towards the border, but once we're there, we'll split up and begin our mission."

Kushina's hand gripped Minato's, as a sign of concern. Minato placed his other hand on top of hers and smiled at her, reassuring that everything will be alright.

The team placed their hands on top of Minato's.

"Yes, sir!"

The team walked quietly inside the forest, having their guard up the entire time. They knew that once they entered the forest, they will most likely have an encounter with the enemy at one point.

But suddenly, Kakashi stopped, making the entire team stop walking. He sensed someone.

Kakashi smirked at himself whereas Obito only pouted.

'The enemy, maybe?' Jiraiya thought as he examined the screen.

Since neither of them were there, they couldn't actually sense an unknown threat but, by now, they realized that someone was following them.

'Nice, Kakashi.' Minato thought, as he smiled at his student. He was actually very proud of him at this point.

As a confirmation to their suspicious, most of the Jounin's in the room were now having a smile on their faces.

Since this was Kakashi's first mission as Jounin, it was good to see him acting like one.

'They actually noticed me? These guys are good.' The Iwagakure shinobi thought. His eyes widened once he saw Minato. 'That guy... No. It's can't be. Either way, I'll just wait and see. '

'Is he alone? Yeah, most likely.' Minato thought as he pressed his finger on the ground. He sensed more than one presence lurking in the trees above them, however, they seemed a little different than the first one. Probably shadow clones.

"They seem rather informed about you, don't they, Minato?" Fugaku asked as he glared at Minato.

His last mission for the war probably made a big impact in Iwagakure. Minato was a strong and respected shinobi, even Fugaku could agree with that.

Most likely, they have been warned to stay away from certain people. Minato was most probably one of them.

"Everyone, be careful. There's about twenty enemies. It's probably just a bunch of shadow clones." Minato said as he looked around them.

"Seems like it. Sensei, I'll go first. Please cover me." Kakashi said, making the others look at him.

Minato actually frowned at that. True, Kakashi was the captain in this mission, however, acting impatiently would only cause failure. He hoped that after all the training he did with them, they'll actually listen for once.

"Don't be too hasty, Kakashi. You should just be the backup." Minato sighed.

Kakashi started to do some hand signs.

'Oh? I'm actually going to use that?' Kakashi thought as he straighten up to get a better look. Obito glared at him, as he was confused by the sudden movement from him.

"Sensei, I'm the captain, right? Besides, now's an excellent time to try out my new jutsu I've been developing." Kakashi replied as his face was lightened up by the lightning from his jutsu.

"How impressive! Such an amazing form of chakra!" Jiraiya exclaimed.

"Say, Kakashi, have you created this jutsu by your own?" Fugaku asked, making Kakashi smirk.

"Yes." He replied. "Impressive." Fugaku nod at him. Obito frowned at that. He never got to make his uncle be impressed by him before!

'Stay away from me.' The enemy thought as he looked at Kakashi's jutsu.

"Chidori!" Kakashi yelled out. His teammates watched in awe at his jutsu.

'What is this jutsu?' Obito thought.

'Amazing chakra!' Rin thought.

Yes, it was amazing for Kakashi to do this, but even so, he was too hasty over the entire thing. They should wait to see with what type of enemy they were dealing with. To see his strength, his purpose.

Minato placed his hand in front of Kakashi, stopping him from advancing directly to the enemy.

"It doesn't matter how many enemies there are, this'll end it in a flash. It's the same as your nickname. Besides... It's like you said, Sensei. The leader of this mission is me. It's a rule that a team must follow the leader's orders. Right, Sensei?" Kakashi said.

Kushina sighed and shook her head.

Minato withdrawn his hand in defeat. Although he knew the consequences of doing so, Minato put all his fate in Kakashi.

The moment Minato pulled his hand away, Kakashi ran directly towards the enemy.

"Such speed!" Jiraiya gasped.

Minato furrowed his eyes at that.

The shadow clones jumped out of their hiding spot and trew their kunais and shurikens at Kakashi, who easily passed right through them with Minato's help.

'He's fast.' The enemy thought.

Minato threw a shuriken at the enemy, pointing his position for Kakashi, who immediately appeared in front of him. Once the justsu made contact with him, the enemy who stood right in front of him turned out to be just a mere shadow clone.

"You still have much work to do on that jutsu, Kakashi." Minato sighed making the others look at him. Kakashi's eyes widened as he didn't saw any problem in it.

The team who was on the ground began to advance. As Rin and Mianto looked around for the enemy, Obito let his guard down as he looked after Kakashi. A shadow clone suddenly appeared in front of Obito, making him panic over that.

Before the shadow clone could even move, Minato threw his kunai at it and it disappeared.

"Don't let your guard down!" Minati scolded Obito who now had small tears in his eyes.

"Y-yes!" He stuttered.

Kakashi let out a snort making Obito glare at him once again for the night.

"Stop that!" He yelled at him. "Stop what?" Kakashi asked. "You know exactly what!" Obito said. "Or what? You're going to start crying?" Kakashi made fun of him.

Obito growled at him but Rin interfered.

"Stop it." She warned them.

The shadow clones around them disappeared with a poof as the seconds passed. Kakashi was indeed faster than he would normally be. It was truly an incredible jutsu.

"Number Eighteen!" Kakashi declared as he charged towards the next enemy.

"Don't push your luck, brat!" The Iwagakure shinobi declared as he pulled out his sword.

Minato was quick. He teleported to Kakashi immediately once the enemy yelled out. He grabbed Kakashi and pushes the sword away in a matter of a second. Unfortunately, he wasn't that fast and the sword gazed Kakashi's skin.

"You're as fast as they say, Minato." Tsunade acknowledged.

"Kakashi!" Rin yelled out once she saw Kakashi's arm. She kneeled in front of him and immediately gave him first aid.

"Good job, Rin." Tsunade smiled at her.

'From the looks of it, the cut wasn't too deep to get to an important vein or anything that could cause problem for the muscle. However from the looks of it, it needs to be patched up.'

'I was finally about to counter that brat, but that blond asshole's movement were...' The Iwagakure  ninja was now scared. He finally started to understand who he was dealing with.

"Asshole, huh?" Minato smirked at the screen as he knew what was going to happen next.

'He's been marked.' Minato thought as he pulled his backpack off. Before the backpack could even touch the ground, Minato had already teleported behind the enemy and placed his kunai around his neck.

"Do you even blink?" Tsunade asked making a few people in the room let out a small giggle at the question.

"No way. Are you Konoha's Yellow Flash? Back in Iwagakure, our superiors told us to run away no matter what if we saw him. Now I know what they meant by that." The ninja said before Minato killed him.

"That's some kind of reputation you got there, Minato." Jiraiya said, making Minato smile with confidence.

He worked hard for that.

Minato jumped off the tree back to his team. Rin was helping Kakashi with his injury as Obito was staring at them.

"Kakashi's injury is pretty bad. For now, we should retreat and set camp." Minato sighed.

"I'm fine." Kakashi stated as he didn't want to become a burned.

"No you're not!" Kushina yelled out making the young shinobis in the room jump a little.

"Hmph." Kakashi looked in another direction. He was finally starting to understand his Sensei's words.

"What do you mean fine? You selfishly went against Sensei's orders, and did something crazy!" Obito yelled at Kakashi.

Obito nod at himself as he just literally thought the same thing. Well, after all, it is the same person.

"I don't have anything to say to an elite Uchiha crybaby who pissed his pants." Kakashi replied with an annoyed look.

Tsunade let out a small chuckle whereas Jiraiya started to laugh out loud, making Obito blush in embarrassment.

"Well... I got something in my eyes, so tears started coming out!" Obito replied back.

"Do you know the 25th Shinobi Rule? It states, 'A shinobi must never show his tears.'" Kakashi said.

"Now you're both going too far. Do you guys ever get along for once?" Kushina crossed her hands.

"You're the one to talk!" Obito said under his breath.

Minato gulped as he felt the danger of being between the two.

"What was that?" Kushina asked slowly.

Obito finally realized his mistake. He gulped and started to wave his hands in front of his face.

"Oh, nothing, nothing." He said quickly.

"Hey... You should stop guys." Rin said as the argument started to get a little too intense.

"Take it easy now, you two." Minato said with a sharp tone. "Kakashi, it's true that rules and regulations are there to be followed, but that's not all there is to it. I've told you before. There are also times where you have to cope with the situation." Kakashi looked down in defeat.

Obito looked at Kakashi, who's expression never changed... Well he had a mask on his face so there wasn't much he could really read out of him.

Out of all the people in the room, Rin was the most anxious one. She seemed to be the only one in this room that still was aware of why they are seeing this in the first place.

She took a quick look at Obito. He seemed a little worried as well. Maybe she isn't the only one who worried over this. She feared for her team. She loved being part of it, so it haunted her the fact that this might be their last mission together.

"You see?" Obito jumped and pointed at Kakashi. "Obito, you too!" Minato yelled out.

"You're wearing goggles, so there's no way something may've gotten into your eyes. If you don't control your mouth, the your mind will become just as weak." Minato said, leaving Obito a little in shock.

Obito blushed a little at the screen. This was too much embarrassment for the night. Why are they even showing this! This was totally unnecessary.

"Also, one more thing... Kakashi, you shouldn't use that jutsu again. It's true you have the destructive force and speed needed for it, but when you're moving too fast, it's near impossible for you to see the enemy counter your attack. Therefore, it's an incomplete jutsu." Kakashi sighed at his Sensei's words. He worked really hard to get this far but it seems it still wasn't enough.

"Back to the drawing board I guess..." Kakashi sighed in defeat.

"Maybe next time I can help you with it." Minato smiled at him.

"Yeah, that would actually be really helpful."

"Before we leave, I'll say this once again. The most important thing for a shinobi is teamwork." And with that said, all three students looked down at the ground in shame.  This was their first training for God's sake! How could they have forgotten about that?

The young team finally understood what this was all about and why their Sensei was getting all worked up.

They've forgotten the most important thing they've trained on for months.

Once night arrived, Team Seven camped out of the forest, on an open field. The stars were shining brightly tonight but the moon was covered by some clouds passing by.

Minato was meditating as the rest of the team were already asleep. Obito was the only one out of the three who still remained awake at this hour. He couldn't get Kakashi's attitude out of his head.

"Sensei?" He finally decided to speak up. Minato turned around and looked at him with a faint smile. "What is it, Obito?"

"I know that teamwork is an important thing, but Kakashi's always calling me a lazy idiot. Even though I'm called an elite for being born into the Uchiha Clan, I'm a loser. I acknowledge that Kakashi's an amazing person, but..."

"Okay, this is definitely showing too much!" Obito yelled at the screen.

"Just live with it, kid." Tsunade said.

"Kakashi is the son of the genius ninja Hatake Sakumo-san, who was feared as the Konoha White Fang. In front of his father's name, even the title of 'Legendary Sannin' pales in comparison. Since he spent his childhood with such a genius, he might look at you guys and consider you unsatisfactory." Minato explained to Obito, who listened closely to what his sensei had to say.

"The White Fang... Come to think of it, I've heard his name before. He was a hero who died protecting the village. Kakashi never brought him up before." Obito said quietly.

"He was a magnificent person who was respected by everyone in the village, especially Kakashi. Until that incident occurred..."

"I agree with Obito for once. This is showing too much unnecessary information." Kakashi said, making his teammates look in curiosity at him. He never brought his father into discussion. Was this the reason?

The older ninjas in the room already knew what this was all about. It was a terrible loss for Konoha. If only the villagers would've seen it that way, maybe Kakashi would've ended up different.

"Incident?" Obito asked.

"Maybe I shouldn't talk about this so freely, but since you're on the same team as Kakashi, I want you to know."

"What happened?" Obito asked worriedly.

"Kakashi's father has been disgraced before he committed suicide." Obito's eyes widened at those news. He never even knew... "Five years ago, he was the captain of a top secret mission to infiltrate an enemy territory, and he had to choose between two options. The success of the mission, or the life of his comrades. "

Kakashi closed his eyes as he didn't actually want to see Obito's face once he learns the truth about his father. True, he didn't cared what this idiot had to say about him, but it still hurt to know something like that.

"Of course, if he followed the rules of the village, he couldn't abort the mission, but to save the lives of his comrades, he abandoned the mission. However, because of that, Konoha suffered great losses, and his comrades in the village blamed him. In the end, even the comrades he saved slandered him. Driven by the hate and disgrace that people felt over him, he, in the end, ended his own life."

Rin, who had her mouth covered by her hands at this point, looked to her left, at Kakashi who refused to look at the screen.

Obito didn't say anything. He was actually beginning to understand Kakashi for once. His wide eyes, for a short amount of time, looked into the direction of the white haired boy, who looked at his hands.

What exactly has he been through?

"From that point forward, Kakashi never opened his mouth about his father, and he started to insist that the rules should be followed above all else." And suddenly, everything became clear for Obito. His grudge towards Kakashi was already gone. The only question that remained was why Kakashi wouldn't open up to them for once.

"Obito... Even if only a little, try to understand him. Don't bear a grudge against him." Minato finished.

When that was finally over, Kakashi looked back at the screen. Kushina let out a sigh. The story of the White Fang always brought some sort of depressing feeling after she hears it.

He was a very dear friend of hers and many other's. It saddened her the fact that he refused to acknowledge the fact that not everyone hated him and took his life.

The following morning was like all the other ones. The team woke up early so that they will advance to the place sooner. The birds just started to wake up as the sun finally greeted their sleepy faces.

Rin was checking Kakashi's wound as the others were getting ready to leave.

"It should heal fine, but don't strain it too much, or the wound will open up." Rin told Kakashi who nod at her.

Tsunade smiled once again at the screen. If she had to pick someone from the team, it would definitely be Rin. It reminded her of her younger self in one way or another.

"We should head out soon." Minato said.

"Yes sir!" The others replied.

Once they crossed the border, it was finally time to go separate ways. It was time for the one team to split up into two. Little did they know that, that decision is going to put one into a grave...

"From here on out, we'll split into two groups. Everyone do your best. It was only by chance that the enemy from yesterday was scouting by himself. From now on, they'll be team battles. Be careful." Minato warned them.

"Well, let's go, Captain." Obito said out of the blue as he looked to his right, avoiding Kakashi's eyes.

"Now that's improvement!" Kushina nod at future Obito.

For once, Kakashi actually glared at Obito who didn't seemed to have any expression on his face, like he seen this coming.

Kakashi's eyes widened at Obito's words while the others were a little shocked by Obito's sudden change of attitude towards Kakashi. Minato smiled at Obito.

When the team finally departed their own ways, the younger team started to feel more cautious than ever. They were on their own now. They had to be more careful.

Trying to be be as quiet wasn't the problem anymore as all of them sensed the fact that they were being followed.

A sudden attack towards them made them stop their advancing. Obito quickly used the Fireball Technique, a specialty to his clan, to protect the others from the sharp bamboo sticks thrown at them.

"Good job, Obito. I see you've been practicing that technique." Fugaku praised Obito, who, once he heard his words, was overwhelmed with all kinds of emotions.

"Yes, I am training hard for the next mission." Obito rubbed the back of his neck.

The guy hiding behind the bamboo jumped at Kakashi who immediately repelled his attack.

What none of them noticed during their attacks was that behind them, sneakily, an almost invisible figure grabbed Rin and knocked her out right after she let out a scream, making her teammates look immediately back.

Minato gritted his teeth as the only thing he could do was to watch them take her away. He wasn't the only one who struggled to do that.

It seems that most of the people in this room, excluding Fugaku, were very enraged at the person who kidnapped Rin.

"We'll take her for now." The guy said before he disappeared.

"Wait!" Kakashi yelled but it was too late. Both Rin and the enemy were were gone.

"Damn it!" Obito murmured as he began to run towards where the enemy could've disappeared.

"Wait! Obito! Don't go after them." Kakashi said, stopping Obito.

"What?!" Obito yelled out as he immediately looked at Kakashi and then back at the screen.

The adults in the room sighed. This was bad. This was really bad. They knew what was going to happen.

Kakashi would have to choose just like his father did, between mission or the life of a comrade.

Rin actually felt really bad about this. This was her fault. This was her fault for not being stronger.

"What?! Do you even realize what you are saying?" Obito yelled at him. "Yeah... The two of us will continue the mission." Kakashi replied.

"But... You can't be serious!" Obito said as he looked at Kakashi, who didn't even bother to move his eyes away from the screen.

"It's okay, Obito." Rin said with a faint smile.

"What? But-" Obito was about to say something but saw the look on Rin's face and stopped. She didn't want another fight. "Okay..."

"But, Rin... What about Rin!?" Obito asked with a sharp tone. "Rin comes later." Kakashi answered. "The enemy wants to know our aim. They won't kill her right away. Luckily, on top of that, Rin is a Medical Ninja. Even as a prisoner, she would be treated well, as long as she provides medical treatment to the enemy."

"More importantly, the problem is the enemy discovering our aim. If that information leaks, they'll immediately make preparations to guard the bridge. If that happens, the mission is more than failed." Kakashi stated.

"We shall have a talk after this." Minato said as he looked at the hooded figure who nod at him.

"Very well." He answered at his request.

"What you're saying doesn't take Rin's safety into account! What would happen if those guys just now were simply some stupid underlings? Right now, rather than the mission, rescuing Rin takes priority!" Obito yelled as he pointed his finger at Kakashi.

"As a shinobi, even if you have to sacrifice your comrades, accomplishing the mission is essential. That is the rule. If this mission fails, the war will be prolonged, many more sacrifices may occur." Kakashi said.

Obito clenched his fist. It was pretty hard to contain his feelings as he watched his future self get more angry as the minutes passed.

Minato, being the loving Sensei he is, placed his hand on Obito's shoulder, reassuring him the fact that this won't happen anymore as they will change that future.

"That's only speculation! Could you really throw away a comrade who went through life and death with you so easily? Whenever you and I were injured, Rin would always save us with her medical ninjutsu! If it weren't for her, we'd have been dead long ago!" Obito yelled.

"The brat has a point." Tsunade sighed to herself.

"That was Rin's duty." Kakashi stated. But that drew over the line, even for him. Obito punched straight in the face, making Kakashi fall on the ground.

"I hate you, after all!" Obito yelled.

Rin held her breath as she watched the fight. This was getting really bad.

"I take that back, Rin..." Kushina said, making Rin look in her direction. "Words actually work..." She continued as she looked at the two boys.

While Rin was there, their fights never progressed to the point they will throw punches at each other. Now that she was out of the image, suddenly the two were having a fist fight.

"I don't care if you hate me. I'm the captain. You must obey my instructions. No matter what the situation, if the squad is scattered, the decisions are made by one person. That's why the rule that squad members must follow the instructions of their captain exists. Obito, you don't have any power and that's why I'm the squad's captai-"

Before Kakashi could even finish, Obito grabbed him by his shirt and forced him to stand up.

"So then, why do you refuse to save Rin?! Only you have the power to save our comrade, right?!" Obito yelled at him.

Everyone were quiet as they watched the boys fight. They didn't had any words for this.

This was too much, as some of them realized. They were just kids and they had to make a choice this big.

This war was truly horrible.

"If you let your emotions run free and fail an important mission, you're going to end up regretting it. That's why the rule was made that shinobi should suppress their emotions. You should understand."

Obito let go of Kakashi and shut his eyes.

"Rin gave you a medical pack because she was concerned about you. She sewed a charm into it!"

"Medical packs and medical ninjutsu are Konoha's brilliant system to increase the success rate of missions. But like I said yesterday... If you accept unnecessary things, it'll just become useless luggage." Kakashi stated.

"Unnecessary things?" Obito repeated his words making Kakashi nod at him.

"Using yourself as a tool is important for the sake of the mission. Things like emotions are unnecessary."

At that, Obito was truly shocked. He began to shake as he looked into Kakashi's eyes. He was actually serious about all of this.

"Are you actually serious? Is this how you feel?" Obito asked quietly.

Kakashi looked at the ground as the feeling of remorse began to make it's presence. This happened in the past. The same thing. Someone had to choose between the life of their comrades or the mission. That certain someone chose the wrong thing and in the end, he ended up killing himself. That same someone was none other than his dad. And that will never happen again.

"Yeah." Kakashi replied.

Kakashi took a deep breath. He knew that was a big lie. His team meant everything to him as they were the only people he considered family.

Especially his Sensei, who was by now, probably the most disappointed by his words than anyone in this room.

There was a pregnant pause after that. Obito stood there shocked at Kakashi's response. How could he?! Did Rin literally mean nothing to him?

"That's it." Obito said. "You and I were like water and oil from the beginning. I'm going to rescue Rin." He said before starting to walk in another direction.

"No, Obito. You shouldn't." Rin said quietly.

"Of course, I'd go after you. Unlike someone, you actually do mean a lot to me." Obito smiled at her, making her blush.

It took a few seconds to realize what he just said.

"I-In a teammate/friendly way!" Obito clarified.

"You don't know anything! You don't understand what happens to those who break the rules!" Kakashi yelled after him.

Obito suddenly stopped his movement. Not turning around to face, he replied.

"I believe that the White Fang was a true hero." And with that said, Kakashi's eyes shot wide open as he let out a gasp. He was stunned and shocked at Obito's words. How did he know?

"What...?" Kakashi gasped out loud as he looked at the screen and back at Obito who smiled at himself for saying that.

'Obito... You...'

"It's true, in the ninja world, those who break the rules and regulations are called trash. But... Those who abandon their friends are even worst than trash. If I'm that kind of trash, then I'll break all the rules! And if that's not what a true shinobi is, then I'll crush that idea of a shinobi." Obito said before he left.

Minato smiled at Obito and gave him a nod of approval.

Everyone in the room seemed to feel the same way. Obito was right. Everyone knew that. A life stands above all other matters.

The final scene showed the two young shinobis going separate ways, as Kakashi turned his back to Obito, who didn't even bother to look back as Kakashi did.

Once that was finally over, everyone turned and looked at Kakashi and Obito who refused to look at each other.

Minato sighed at that.

"I believe we have a lot to discuss over this, you two."
