Chapter 5

Sorry in advance if there are typos or anything that is structured weirdly.

Word count: 5230

"It's pretty hard to digest that an entire team made out of brats could be killed just like that." Tsunade sighed.

Everyone was still in shock from the previous scene. It was hard to accept the fact that Obito died, but now Rin as well?

"We will get to that, but first, there is still some things I have to show you." The hooded man said, making the entire room straighten up and move their attention back at the man.

Kushina bit her lip as she knew that things are about to get worse and worse. In fact, she wasn't the only one who could foresee that. From this point on, things will be going down hill.

"These events take place one year after Minato was named the Hokage." The man said before he preformed the now, familiar justu.

Today marked the day in which Kushina finally agreed to visit the hospital for some checkups. She's been feeling quite sick these past few days.

'I'm sick? But I never get sick.' Kushina thought as she raised her eyebrow. 'Am I dying too now?' Kushina began to panic.

The scene opened up with the surprised expression on Kushina's face who was announced about the results of the checkup. "Huh?" Kushina managed to murmur through the shock.

"Your due date is... Let me check... Oh yes, October 10th." The doctor smiled at her. Kushina finally snapped out of the shocked trance and put on the biggest grin she could ever have.

"Oh thank Goodness!" Kushina stood up from her chair as she began laugh. With her hand on her heart, she sat back on the chair.

"Kushina!" Minato exclaimed with pure joy as he immediately pulled his wife into a hug. The two of them began to laugh in each other's arms.

"Aww, congratulations Sensei!" Rin smiled. Rin now felt her presence a little awkward, ever since they found out she died. She knew her presence brought guilt but after all, this was why they were here in the first place. To change that grim future.

Kakashi smiled under his mask at his Sensei. Finally things were getting better.

Obito could almost cry out of happiness. He always imagined his Sensei as a father. Hell, he even considered him as his father which only made this even more emotional for him. It felt as if he was getting a little brother... Which he never had of course.

Tsunade and Jiraiya smiled at the couple as they were getting more and more excited for the upcoming events they were about to see.

Fugaku, seemed more relaxed. He almost smiled at Minato and then looked back at the screen.

"Dattebane!"

Later that day, Kushina arrived happily back home, who she was waited by her loving husband who was preparing lunch.

Ever since the war officially ended, things have settled down. Being the Hokage has never been easier for Minato. In fact, he even managed to get some time off, shamelessly trying to make it up to Kushina for all those all-nighters at the office.

"Hah, I knew it wouldn't be that hard." Minato said as he waved his palm in front of his face.

Tsunade threw at him a look that wasn't so friendly. A look so familiar that it made Jiraiya shiver.

"You do realize it just said that you were home just to make up to Kushina for, and I quote, 'for all those all-nighters', right?" Tsunade asked with a slight bit of a annoyance in her voice.

"Oh come on, Tsunade, I'm sure this wasn't the only all-nighter Minato had to pull. I mean, look at Kushina. She is pregnant." Jiraiya laughed.

Minato face-palmed whereas Kushina started to blush. She then stood up and walked slowly towards Jiraiya. Tsunade stood up as well and together, they cracked their knuckles. Jiraiya gulped as tried to push his chiar backwards.

"Hey, it was just a joke, I swear!" Jiraiya yelled out as he waved his hands in self defence.

"Your life will be just a joke when we are done with you!" Tsunade said as she began to punch Jiraiya.

Everyone forgot about the scene happening on the screen and focused on little fight.

As he was preparing Kushina's favorite dish, the door suddenly opened. He didn't bothered to look who just came through the door because he already knew who it was.

'Ahh, so cute!' Rin thought.

Kushina finally finished using Jiraiya as a punching bag and jumped back in her seat. She then took Minato's hand in hers and gave him a smile which was returned.

Minato looked at his Sensei and gulped. He was now all blue and red from all the punches and kicks.

"I'm home!" He heard her say as she was taking off her shoes. "Welcome back!" Minato shouted back, making sure she heard him.

"I went to the doctor today." She began as she took off her bag. Minato stopped mixing the ingredients and raised his brows. "So, what did the doctor say?" He asked a little worried.

"Well, you won't believe this, but... We're going to have a baby!" Kushina said as she made her way towards the kitchen area. Before she could even take a couple of steps, Minato finally revealed himself from the corner, looking at her with his eyes wide open.

Kushina smiled at the screen. This was a moment she always dreamed about. A family...

"Let's just hope this child will not say that it will become Hokage every five seconds." Jiraiya sighed, making Tsunade actually laugh out loud and Fugaku chuckle.

Obito furrowed his brows at that. That's exactly what he does though...

"A b-baby?" He stuttered, as he was overwhelmed with all kinds of emotions. He felt numb. He couldn't even blink.

"I'm- I'm going to be a mother, dattebane!" Kushina announced proudly as her hand went straight to the place where her little child was currently growing.

"And I'm going to be a father..." Minato placed the bowl he was holding on the counter and took a step closer to Kushina, who now had tears in her eyes.

"Now this is just cute." Tsunade said, making Kushina blush and Minato smile even more than he already did.

"I'm going to be a mother, dattebane!" She cried as she also took a step forward.

"Can you believe this? I'm going to be a father!" He said as Kushina jumped in his arms. They both cried in sheer happiness, holding each other close. Minato smiled and rested his chin on Kushina's head, right after he kissed her forehead.

But then Minato frowned.

Minato sighed. He wished the scene would've just ended right there, without showing his doubt in the whole situation. He kind of figured out, what exactly he was thinking at that moment.

But to his surprise, Kushina didn't say anything. Probably because she also understood Minato's uneasiness.

"But why-" Obito started but was cut off by Jiraiya who yawned loudly. By now, the three Chunin understood that everyone in the room (expect for them) knew what this is all about and that it was probably a top secret information.

But that did not stopped him from wanting to know why his Sensei looked worried.

Next day, Minato got the report from Kakashi's mission about the documents him and his team had to transport to the Hidden Stone. Minato did not have any reaction as he read the paper in his hands.

"Ahh you look so cool in the Hokage cloak Minato!" Kushina giggled.

Minato rolled his eyes and chuckled along with her. Of course she would say something like that.

'Killed enemies on spot... Used too much chakra... Kakashi Hatake needed immediate medical aid...'

"Oh wow - you really suck, don't you, Kakashi?" Jiraiya laughed, making the young shinobi's eyes twitch.

Kakashi was about to say something rude but then saw Jiraiya's new bloody face and decided that maybe his brain was damaged due to the amount of kicks and punches he got from the two women earlier.

"I see... Well, at least you completed the mission." Minato said as he placed the paper on the desk. "You are all dismissed. Except you, Kakashi. I need to have a word with you." Minato said as the temporary team disambled.

"I can't believe we're about to see Kakashi get scolded by the Hokage. This is great." Obito said with a huge grin on his face.

"I have to admit, this is the first time I see Kakashi do so poorly on a mission." Rin giggled along with Obito, only to annoy Kakashi even more.

"Sensei-" Kakashi began to apologize but was stopped by Minato who surprisingly was smiling at him.

"Kakashi, you've been quite reckless in your battles, haven't you?" Minato said in a light tone. Kakashi gulped and bowed. "I am very sorry." He said as he gripped his fist, keeping his eyes locked with the floor.

Obito's smiled got bigger with every comment. It seemed it brought some sort of satisfaction, watching Kakashi apologize to the Hokage for his actions. Usually he was the one to get scolded so it was definitely a breath of fresh air for him.

Minato sighed. "There is no need to apologize. It happens to the best of us from time to time. Just make sure you get proper rest." He said.

"What!" Obito said out loud. This was absolute bullshit! This wasn't the way it was supposed to be. How come he always gets scolded and Kakashi only got a pat on the shoulder?! In his case, the Third would scold him an hour long and then go back home only to be scolded again by Fugaku-san! This. Was. Not. Fair.

Obito glared at Kakashi who was smiling victoriously at him. They both thought that this was some kind of war.

And both of them were determined to win.

"Of course."

"Kakashi, I've been thinking for a while and I believe it's time to name you an Anbu." Minato smiled at him. Kakashi's eyes widened and let out a gasp. "What? But sensei, I-"

"Oh come on! Sensei!" Obito whined, making Rin and Kakashi chuckle. "It's not fair! As far as I know, I was not named a Jonin because of my mistakes!" He then said as he crossed his arms.

Minato laughed as he rubbed the back of his head. Even he didn't understand what just happened.

"I want to put you under my ranks. I trust no else better than you, Kakashi. Not only that, but I also need someone to do this important task for me."

Kakashi couldn't believe his ears. He almost failed a mission and it was all his fault but even so, the Hokage decided to name him an Anbu? This was unheard of!

"You bet it's unheard of! It's not even fair!" Obito sulked in his seat.

"You see, Kushina and I are expecting our first child." Minato announced with a grin. Kakashi blushed a little and quickly congratulated his sensei.

"Wait, so you're going to give this brat a mission with the biggest kind of importance right after he failed all those other missions? Minato, I'm starting to think that all the Hokage business got to your head." Jiraiya said.

Kushina turned towards Jiraiya who gulped seeing Kushina's hair float around her.

"Did you say something, Jiriaya-sensei?" She asked in a very scary tone, making even Kakashi flinch a little.

"N-Nothing!" Jiraiya laughed.

"That's what I thought."

Minato wasn't sure of what he was thinking at that moment, it was far too little information to understand what exactly was going on. But one thing was certain, he didn't take that choice without thinking about it first.

Minato gave Kakashi another big smile and thanked him. But then, his expression changed, indicating that what Kakashi was about to hear, was a very serious matter.

"But as you know... Kushina is a Jinchiuriki. During a Jinchiuriki's pregnancy, the energy used to contain the Tailed Beast is now used for the development of the child. And by now I'm guessing you understand what is about to happen to the seal."

"Wait, what's a Jinchiuriki?" Obito asked confused.

Rin gasped and Kakashi's eyes widened. Kushina was a Jinchiuriki? Since when? Why didn't they know about this?

Everyone remained quiet. They all weren't sure how to address Obito's question. Kushina was afraid to address this subject due to obvious reasons. She didn't want the respect from them to fade away.

"A Jinchiuriki is a person who has Tailed Beast sealed inside. Konoha has one Tailed Beast and that is the fox demon, also known as the Nine Tails. Obviously, they are not the beast itself but their own person. They only keep the beast sealed inside of them to protect the village from such a dangerous power." Kakashi explained.

Obito remained quiet after hearing that. His eyes were completely wide open as he looked at Kushina with surprise. He could see the fact that Kushina was in fact afraid to speak up.

"That's amazing! You're practically a hero, right?" Obito asked as his eyes sparkled. Kakashi and Rin smiled at Kushina as well, assuring her that they didn't thought any less of her.

Kushina now had tears in her eyes. Minato smiled at his team. He was very proud of them.

"It will break." Kakashi's eyes widened as he realized the consequences. Minato nod. "But, she's in luck. Kakashi, I want to give you a very important mission. But to do that, you must accept becoming an Anbu. Will you do that?"

"Wait wait wait." Obito waved his hands in the air. "So the Nine Tails could be released during that time?" He asked worried.

"That's right. The same thing happened to grandma when she gave birth. The seal weakens to the point of breaking during child birth." Tsunade replied.

Kushina was begging to worry. Things won't get to that point, right?

Kakashi gulped. He wanted to help his Sensei but at the same time, he feared he would fail again. He was a bit hesitant to answer, but in the end, he noded.

"Thank you, Kakashi."

"Still don't understand why Kakashi was named an Anbu." Obito said, crossing his arms against his chest. "Jealous?" Kakashi smirked under his mask. "As if!" Obito answered quickly. Jealous? Him? No way!

"Come on..." Rin sighed as her hand went immediately to her forehead. Why do they always start a fight over stupid things? Can't they just be serious for once? Her favorite couple were expecting a baby!

"Well he got the brains for an Anbu, I agree with that." Tsunade began as she looked at Kakashi and then back at Obito. "But traumas cannot be treated. It's something that only time and your own will can heal. From what I see, Kakashi wants to cling onto the past. And he most probably doesn't even realize that." She finished.

Obito went quiet.

It was probably a better idea to keep his mouth shut. He was dead so he wasn't any better either.

The screen turned black before it changed to a whole new scene. This time, Obito decided to pay more attention. It was weird. That was what all of them thought once they saw on the scree, a hideout of some shinobi. The lights were dim, you couldn't even see properly.

On the screen, a silhouette of a man could be distinguished from the darkness. You couldn't see its face, but you could defiantly understand that this guy was bad news. At least, that's what his aura was emitting.

Another shadow appeared on the screen, this time, you could see the man's face. Rin shifted uncomfortably in her chair as she was a little creeped out by his unnatural pale skin. It wasn't the fact that he was pale that creeped out Rin, it was the fact that the man had two faces. One that was white and the other black.

"So?" The other man asked, as he didn't bother to turn around.

There was something familiar about his voice, or at least that's what Obito thought. His voice was deep, sending a few shivers down Obito's spine. Why was his voice familiar anyway? Did he know this guy?

"Just as you expected. The Jinchiuuriki is pregnant." The white part of the man spoke up.

Kushina frowned. Why did they care if she was pregnant? How did they even found out? She was sure she didn't go around the village announcing that she was pregnant. Especially with Minato being the Hokage. She would defiantly get targeted by his enemies, and even if she didn't care about that, she wouldn't risk the possibility of hurting the baby in any way.

Who are they?

The man turned around, revealing his white mask. You could almost feel the fact that this man was smirking behind his mask. But to Obito's surprise, he still found something about this man that seemed familiar. Maybe it was the way he talked, or maybe his posture, but he was sure he knew this man from somewhere.

"Finally." The man said. "The time has come."

'Who is he? Why is he after the Nine Tails? What's his motive?' Minato thought.

"Am I the only one who thinks his voice is familiar?" Obito suddenly asked, making everyone look at him. Ever since he heard this man's voice, the only thing he could think about was the man's actual identity. There was something familiar about him - his posture, his accent, his tonality, his gestures. The answer was right at the tip of his tongue but he just couldn't quite get it yet.

"Now that you mention it..." Rin mumbled looking back at the screen.

"I personally don't see anything special about him." Jiraiya shrugged. "If anything, I'd say he's pretty stupid for trying to do something like this. He obviously underestimates Konoha's power and also Minato's."

And just as he said that...

Suddenly the only eye you could see from the mask turned into a Mangekyo Sharingan, lighting up the dark room.

Fugaku tried to mask his suprise when he saw the true identity of the newest villain. This wasn't good. This Uchiha, whoever he is, will definitely cause trouble not only for the village but also for the clan as well.

"Of course, on the other hand..." Jiraiya said quietly taking his words back.

"What's that pattern?" Tsunade asked as she studied it more closesly.

"Is that a Sharingan?" Obito asked Fugaku.

"Yes. It's called the Mangekyo Sharingan. It is initially awakened by the trauma suffered from witnessing the death of someone close to the user. However..." Fugaku remained silent for a minute, looking like he was thinking really hard about something.

"What is it, uncle?" Obito asked getting a little nervous at his uncle's sudden silence. Everyone was listening really closely.

"The Mangekyo is really powerful and as far as I am informed, there is no one in our clan who possesses such power. The only person I know that has unlocked this strength is Madara Uchiha."

"You don't say-"

"I am not sure, however from the looks of it, it's a possibility. No one knows for sure if he died or not. These days no one unlocks the Mangekyo because of what you have to lose in order to obtain it." Fugaku said.

Obito went quiet after those words. This person, whoever he is, he must have suffered a lot in order to get where he is. But the young shinobi had one question and that was... Who in the world is Madara Uchiha?

"You don't even know who Madara Uchiha is, don't you?" Kakashi suddenly asked. Obito began to laugh nervously and sweat. "Of course..." His voice cracked.

"Really? You don't know?" Rin asked surprised.

"You're actually surprised? He used to sleep through all the history lessons." Kakashi rolled his eyes.

"H-Hey!"

"He literally fought against the First Hokage, kid. He built Konoha. This is literally basic knowledge, how could you not know?" Jiraiya teased Obito. "Oh, I don't want to hear it from you!" Tsunade yelled. "At his age, you literally thought that the Hidden Leaf was the only shinobi village in the world and that we were fighting against citizens." She said.

Minato began to shake his head in a disapproval manner. It seemed like everyone has already forgotten about what it was shown; except for him and Fugaku, of course.

Six months later, back in Konoha, at the beautiful home of the Namikaze family, Jiraiya decided to visit the couple and to bring a little gift to the upcoming parents.

"Jiraiya-sensei?" Kushina greet turned into a question once her eyes fell on the basket the Legendary Saanin carried. "Good to see you, Kushina. I see everything is going well." Jiriaya laughed as he entered the apartment.

Tsunade couldn't help but roll her eyes at Jiraiya's laugh. After so many years of being forced to work with an idiot like him, you would figure out that his laugh made you reach a certain level insanity.

Kushina's eyes couldn't help but fall on her future self's baby bump. Ever since she was little, as much as she would deny this, she dreamed about the moment she would have a baby of her own. Seeing her finally reach that point in the her life really made her feel a little emotional.

Going directly into the kitchen, he placed the basket full of fruits on the counter. Kushina followed after him.

"Oh wow! You most likely spent a lot of money on these. Thank you so much for the gift." Kushina said as she studied its contents with a big smile on her face.

"Don't worry about it." Jiraiya said. "Hmmm, I see being an author has its perks." She said as she grabbed the watermelon from the basket. Jiraiya only laughed at her words. "Minato's in the living room. I'm sure he'll be glad to see you." Kushina told him.

"Hmm, so I decided to continue my writing career. Noted." Jiraiya said as he nodded. There were many times when he thought to himself that writing may just not be for him and that there might be something else out there for. But finding himself so relived that he continued writing was maybe a sign that it was truly the right choice.

"Jiraiya-sensei, you exactly are your books about ?" Rin asked curious.

'Poor child.' Tsunade thought.

"Well, my work is currently counting four books, believe or not. Two of which I'm still debating if I should publish or not." Jiraiya said while looking back at the screen and then again at Rin. "But I think I got an answer." Jiraiya smiled, leaving Rin's question unanswered.

Jiraiya exited the kitchen and saw Minato, sitting at the table, reading a book. On further investigation, Jiraiya realized that the book Minato was reading was in fact his.

"Oh!" Exclaimed Jiraiya as he slapped Minato's back, surprising him. "You were reading my 'Tales of a Gutsy Ninja', weren't you? But it's my first published work. The sentences are childish and I didn't do a good job." Jiraiya began to rub the back of his head, embarrassed a little for that he knew Minato was a picky reader.

"You should be embarrassed about your new books. Not that one." Tsunade shook her head in disapproval.

"Does Tsunade herself actually read my books? What can I say, I'm honored. Honestly, I thought you were throwing them in the trash the minute I give them to you. What a little minx you are." Jiraiya winked at her only to receive a death glare.

"Your first book was alright. The plot was decent but not really my style - but I can't say I didn't find it entertaining. As for the other two, I stopped reading after the first chapter for each one of them."

But to his surprise, Minato began to shake his head.

"No, I don't think so. This tale is wonderful." It wasn't that Jiraiya thought that his story wasn't good, but he knew that is not his full potential. But seeing Minato so excited over his story and genuinely enjoying a trashy novel like his really warmed his heart.

"Oh...?"

"The main character of this book... I thought his determination to never give up was really good. He's a lot like you, Sensei." Jiraiya wasn't surprised at that. After all, when he wrote the story, he imagined himself being the main character.

"Which is why I'd like to name my son after him. I really hope my unborn child can become a ninja just like the main character." Minato said, making Jiraiya's eyes open wide in shock.

"Well that took a different direction than what I was expecting." Obito mumbled.

"So, we're having a son?" Kushina eyes glistened. Minato smiled at her as he placed his hand on top of hers. Maybe everything isn't going to be that bad after all. Everyone had a smile on their face (except Fugaku - he never smiles).

Jiraiya on the other hand, had a very nervous expression on his face. Little did anyone in this room knew just how he named the main character. It would be better for both parties if they didn't knew that tiny little fact.

"H-Hey! Are you sure?" Jiraiya stuttered. He did named the main character while eating ramen, after all. He didn't want Minato to make a harsh decision.

"The main character's name was inspired from - ramen?" Kushina asked in a lower tone. Jiraiya couldn't help but gulp.

'So much for the element of surprise...' He thought.

Little did he knew that Kushina had other thoughts than what he initially guessed.

"That is amazing!" Kushina exclaimed as she began to nod. Minato chuckled a little. Now, not many knew about Kushina's obsession with ramen, so naturally, everyone in the room, except for Minato, reacted in a more natural way than he did.

"What?!" They yelled (all except for Fugaku, who was sitting quietly, unbothered by all of these events).

"Better not question it..." Minato said.

"Naruto... It's a beautiful name." Kushina said as she left the kitchen. She walked towards Minato and placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Are you really sure about this?" Now, if he was alone when he got those news, he would've cried.

"You are my sensei. And you are a great ninja who possesses the true talent of a ninja. There's no other like you."

And the screen turned black.

"So wait, Jiraiya Sensei just became the child's Godfather?" Obito asked.

"A pretty stupid idea if you ask me." Tsunade clicked her tongue in disapproval. It wasn't like her opinion could change anything anyway.

"Well, he is my sensei..." Minato laughed nervously at Tsunade. He really didn't want to anger her. "It was your choice. But don't be surprised if your child becomes a pervert at 10." She shook her head.

Jiraiya couldn't really say something to defend himself because - well - it was true.

"That was sweet." Rin smiled.

"Now that it's over, we have a bigger problem to address. That man that possesses the Mangekyo - if he really is Madara, we're facing a very big problem." Fugaku finally spoke up. It seemed that he didn't care a bit about the lovely scenes from earlier. And it was true. After that Uchiha showed up, he couldn't stop thinking about him. He was a big threat, not only for his clan but also, for the village.

Any sort of grin present earlier disappeared. Everyone seemed very tense. If that was truly Madara, Konoha could face war again.

"Agreed. But if Madara is still alive, how powerful could he really be at his age? Surely, an old man couldn't do much these days." Tsunade pointed out.

"Plus, he truly was Madara, why would he be waiting to destroy the village using the Nine Tails? It seems rather strange that a man with his level of skill would need a tailed beast to destroy a village." Jiraiya continued.

The three chunin couldn't do anything but to listen quietly to the entire discussion. They didn't really have any knowledge regarding Madara's strength. For them, Madara was an historical figure who was supposed to be dead decades ago.

"Maybe he isn't Madara." Minato said.

"What do you mean? There is no one who possesses the Mangekyo in the Uchiha clan at the moment." Fugaku furrowed his brows.

"True, not at the moment. But what about one year later? We have to take in consideration that these events are in the future, after the current war. There is no telling what happened between those time skips. I just find it weird how the war ended and then Madara decides to appear. Why not hit the village when it's at its weakness?"

Minato's words really sinked in. Everyone started to see the situation with a more opened mind.

"One thing is certain: things are about to get nasty again." Tsunade said quietly and the others agreed. Kushina on the other had didn't dare to say anything. She didn't want to think about what could possibly happen. She wanted to see herself being the mother she always dreamed to be; not to die and leave the child alone in the world.

"Everything that I'm showing you has a purpose." The mysterious man joined the conversation. "These memories have certain details that will serve a purpose in the future memories that you'll see. Keep in mind that whatever I'm showing you is not going to happen if you do not repeat the same mistakes." He said.

Little did they knew that the man was looking in Obito's direction.

As the others continued to strategize about that Mangekyo user, Kushina began to drift away from the reality and found herself in her subconscious, right in front of the Nine Tails gate. She was a little startled at first but quickly regained calm herself.

"What is it that you want? I'm busy as you can see." She said under her teeth. The Nine Tails however, did not respond right away.

Only after a few moments he began to speak as well. "I wasn't planning on mentioning to you but it disturbs me too much not to say a word about it." He began.

As the others continued to talk, Minato looked in Kushina's direction and saw that she wasn't moving much. "Kushina?" He asked. Everyone looked at her almost immediately.

Kushina came back to reality. She looked at the others with wide eyes and then immediately looked the the man who was hiding his identity with the help of his long cloak.

She hesitated at first to speak up but then she broke the silence.

"Care to explain why you possess the Nine Tails?"

Hello, everyone!

I bet you didn't expect to see this bad boy being updated!

Hopefully there will be more updates in the future.

Thank you for the support and I'm sorry it takes me so long to update. I'm currently facing the hardest, most stressful year in my life and I can't really focus on anything but school. Once that is over, I'm sure I'll be able to write more. ^^

Don't grow up kids, it's a trap.
