Despite coming out of the depressing state, Madav never missed a day watching Padmini's activities. He spends at least the first hour in the morning near his room window or the evening in his veranda.

In his four weeks of observing Padmini's house he realised that she does not go out very often twice a day, once a day or sometimes she doesn't go out two days in a stretch. At times he gets worried about her rather than being angry for she doing that to him.

With her unusual routine Madav wonder what is going on in her life and the so-called fiance of hers isn't to be seen now a days. Is everything alright with her?

-------

"Won't you answer your phone?" Madav asked, panting.

"Oh, I don't really answer calls. Why?" Madhu opened a bottle of water for Madav who came running after her all the way from the cafe.

"Why? To meet you obviously"

"Hmm... but we have not spoken to each other for a week. How did you find me?" she started walking.

"It was in the first letter, it stated that I can find you in Olive Blue cafe every Wednesday"

Madhu stopped walking, she thought for a moment before turning back to Madav. "Did you receive any letter after that?" she asked.

"I did, I received four letters in the past week" Madav now looked straight into her eyes, Madhu seemed hiding something about the letter or there is something else he needs to know.

"Just ignore the letters" she said and foot it further inside the residential area.

"Ignore them? Why Madhu? I don't find anything in those letters, wrong. And if there is anything in the letter why even sending it to me?" Madav demanded an answer keeping up with her pace.

"Just ignore them, Madava! They mean nothing! The time the letter was written things were different now it's different!" she retaliated, Madav was startled at her change of tone.

"It's just... just..." Madhu was finding hard in getting the proper word.

"Difficult?" Madav helped.

"Yes, it's difficult to explain and I don't think you should get involved in it" Madhu became apprehensive all of a sudden, she started pacing back and forth.

"Alright, Madhu. It's alright, I won't ask you about it again" he calmed her down as he wondered what made her so anxious. He decided did not ask about it any further.

"Anyway, I came to return this to you" Madav handed her small notebook that she left in the cafe during their last meet.

In an instant the anxious girl turned child.

"Thank you so much, Madav! I have been searching for it for so long, I thought I lost it." her expression hold so much of a child's happiness on seeing that small book.

Madav stayed quiet and watched Madhu excitedly jumped, a child hidden within a thirty-year-old woman. That book must have meant so much to her.

"It's been long since I sketched" she ran to the nearest bench and started flipping through her book as though she is seeing them for the first time.

He sat next to Madhu at the footpath at the lonely residential street and watched her quietly. How from an anxious lady instantly turned to a kid within minutes?

Happiness. Being extremely carefree about the world, about the people around and just be them at that moment. He felt jealous on how she was able to instantly change her mood.

------flashback-----

Ever since the day Madav met Padmini for the first time at the flower shop, both had been good friends. Durga never had a problem with their friendship in fact she was happy about it but not Padmini's parents. They never liked her befriend with Madav nor going to his house.

But that did not stop them from meeting.

Two years of friendship was slowly changing its course to something beyond beautiful.

Each day had been a beautiful day though the time they spend together during the early days were short. It had been more beautiful since they confessed about their feelings for each other on a gentle nature's musical day, rainy day.

"What happen? Did your parents warned you again?" Madav asked as soon as he saw her mercilessly squashing the leaves of the plant next to her.

"My one and only radio player had spoilt and my parents don't want to get me another one. At least if they allow me to work during my semester break, I could have bought a radio myself" Padmini stomped her feet. The only thing that makes her happy in the house is the radio player that her younger brother bought for her with his savings money.

The radio player has been the only encouragement after Madav and Pankaj for her to still dream of being a Radio Jockey even after her parents refused to let her to take up a course related to Communication and that being spoilt had really broke her spirit.

"I'll buy you one, Paddu" he said pulling her closer to him.

"No, you need that money for your fees Madav. Don't spend them for me, I'll find a way to get it fixed somehow"

"Not gonna listen to you"

------

"Maa, you don't mind if I use this month's salary for myself, right?" Madav asked looking at his third month salary he just received from the nearby warehouse he has been working for part time.

"Absolutely not, Madav. It's your money anyway use it as you wish but make sure don't use it for anything wrong" Durga gave a friendly warning before she left for work.

Since it was his day off, Madav headed to a couple of electronic stores and surveyed the price for a CD player that streams radio channels as well. Finding the perfect and handy radio player, Madav waited for her at their spot with the gift nicely wrapped.

"Madava!" she came running with a heavy bag.

"Paddu, what's this?" he asked pointing at the bag she brought.

"My clothes. I have decided to run away, Madava" Padmini tiredly sat next to Madav and dropped her head on his shoulder.

"Run away? Where will you go?" he stood up before her with his hands on his hips.

"To your house, Mr. Soon-to-be-sailor man" she batted her lashes.

"Good! We both would end up being chased out of this residential along with my mother. Your parents will be enough to convince the rest of the Indian community here that I'm trying to teach you wrong stuffs" Madav crossed his arms across his chest and turned around fuming.

"Oh, sailor man" Padmini hugged Madav from behind and rested her head on his shoulder "I was just pulling your leg. I'm not going to run away. These are just old clothes that needs to be dropped at the recycle center" she laughed as Madav tried be angry.

"Hmm...you never miss a chance to pull my leg isn't it, Paddu" he pulled her close trapping her between his well-built body and strong arms.

"Ma..." her brother called. The only person who knows about Padmini and Madav in her family.

"What is it, Pankaj?" she frowned at Pankaj who came disturbing their only lone time.

"Amma has started looking for you already. It's been fifteen minutes since you are out"

"Why can't she just let me be out for a while?" Padmini whined.

"Because she loves her little girl sooo much" Madav teased. "and because she doesn't like me"

"No! It's just that she doesn't know how good a person you are" Padmini pulled his cheeks.

"Hey! Don't hurt my mama" Pankaj slapped her hand lightly and stood before Madav.

"Yeah, yeah. You should side me more than him, Pankaj. Anyway, now go I need five more minutes, please. Make sure amma doesn't come out searching for me" she gently pushed Pankaj away.

"Oh, I have something for you" Madav pulled her back a little inside of the garden and handed her the gift.

Nothing could make her happy than Madav gifting her the only thing that she loves after him. Padmini's excitement fell short as she knitted her brows and stared at Madav.

"Madav..." she a couple of step back.

"Shush! Don't say a word. Be a good girl, it's my gift. Take it and got home" Madav tried to grab her hand that she hid behind her.

"But I told..."

"Not a word. Want it or shall I return it back to the shop" Madav turned and was about go out of the garden.

"Hey! Wait!... Since it's a gift I'll take it" she grinned childishly and took the gift from him.

Though she felt a little bad that he had to spend his saving to buy her a radio player, a part in her felt extremely happy that it was from him. Her happiness was evident through her wide smile and glowing eyes.

That was the first time he saw a kid in the always matured Padmini.

-----

This break has been the worst of all for Madav, everything that's happening around him is just too much of a turmoil. Why do they have to put him in such a situation where he can't really make a point and move on.

Madhu again left Madav in such situation.

"Don't hold onto those words in the letter, Madav. They are don't hold any meaning. Especially what's written in the first letter." She said turbing her back to him.

"Don't put me in a confusion! I'm not a god or saint to understand your hidden meanings! For god sake please enlighten me on what's happening" Madav begged but got silence in return.

"I don't want to put you in the same mess as I am. That's all I can say. Forget that you ever received the letter and forget that Madhu even existed. Good bye"

Whom could he seek help from? The peace that he got from the letter had vanished just like. Why? Why should he ignore those letters? Is there something in them that he failed to notice?

~~~ The little things? The little moment? They aren't little ~~~
