Luffy: Smile
"I'm bored!!" Two whining voices were heard in unison all over the Sunny. Nami's thin eyebrow twitched in annoyance as she was sunbathing while examining one of her precious maps. Robin's giggle could be heard from the background, amused because of the short tempered navigator.
"Then play together! Stop complaining already!" Nami snapped at the both of you. Yep, the captain and the botanic of the ship were laying down on the soft, grassy ground, limbs spread and pouting faces. You whined rolling like a croquette.
"But we have already played! Nami, when are we going to reach land?" You asked in a exasperated sigh. Nami sighed too, more of annoyance than boredom, and looked at her map.
"I'm not really sure, (Y/N). Maybe in a day or two..."
"Land! Yahoo! Finally land!" Luffy's loud voice cut Nami, and you looked in the direction of his voice, feeling the excitement build up. You didn't even notice that the rubber boy had got up and went to sit on the head of the lion, his favorite place.
"Really?!" You then started a little victory dance as you ran over Luffy and sat next to him, beign aware of the proximity. You had a tiny crush on the teenager, one that you could barely notice, since he was just as lively and hyperactive as you. Unfortunately for you, he wasn't interested in love at all. Was he even aware of the meaning of 'attraction'? "Luffy, what can you see?" You knew he had a good sense of sight, and it improved even more when it came to new land.
"Hum... I think it's a... a... A FERRIS WHEEL!!" Luffy almost fell of his 'seat' out of excitement. You eyes widened and you let out a little squeak, then jumped onto deck again, Luffy following close behind. He suddenly put an elastic arm on your shoulders and started a strange happy dance. You blushed almost unconsciously, thinking that he smelled specially good that day... and only that day...
"Then there is an amusement park in that island... Nami! Please, we have to get there as soon as possible!" You called the strawberry blond haired girl excitedly. She sighed once again. You were one of her best friends, along with Robin, of course, but you were too childish sometimes... just like Luffy. Chopper and Usopp had gone out of the ship upon hearing the noises coming from the deck.
"What's happening?" Asked the long nosed boy with closed eyes and a sighing voice. Luffy was always like this, as well as you. Luffy ran to Usopp with sparkling eyes and shook him.
"We're going to the amusement park!" He chimed and Usopp's mouth fell agape. Then, in a mere second, he was dancing around with Luffy.
"Seriously?!" And Chopper also joined, as they made his infamous hilarious, trio dance, much to your amusement. "We're going to have cotton candy!! Yay!!" Oh, Chopper was so damn cute when he made a comment about his love for cotton candy...
So, after a couple of hours full of phrases like 'I can't wait!' and 'Party!', you finally arrived the island, much to Nami's relief. She saw Luffy, Usopp, Chopper and you jump off the ship carelessly and smiled contently.
"Finally, they're gone..." She sighed in relief and plopped down on her comfortable chair, focusing again on her map. Robin nodded behind her, as she read one of her favorite books.
"Yeah, they're kind of hyperactive. But have you noticed that Luffy gets even more excited when (Y/N) is around?" Robin was known to be a very observant person. Nami looked at her dumbfounded, then a mischievous smile found its way to her lips.
"Don't tell me..." She was cut as a tornado swept over them, 'accidentally' stepping on Zoro's foot. Sanji stood in front of the ladies with a shining tray, three glasses of tropical juice and three ice cream bowls on it. His heart-shaped eyes turned normal again as he looked around, looking for a certain (H/C) haired girl.
"Huh? Where is (Y/N)-chwan?" He asked without noticing a deadly aura looming behind him, as a moss-head swordsman appeared silently out of the blue. Nami pointed at the island as she started to drink her glass, Robin did the same.
"She went with the others to the amusement park... they have no remedy..." Sanji's shoulders dropped in disappointment, then he felt a sharp pain on his head, then turned around to see Zoro.
"Damn you, Ero-cook. You woke me up!" Fire started to surround Sanji as he got pissed off at an alarming speed.
"Shut up, national treasure! You foot was in my way to my goddesses, and now I'm missing one of them." He sighed sadly, as he continued to argue with Zoro. Nami sighed and got up, as well as Robin, then got the tray.
"Can we go somewhere else? They're boring." Robin nodded and they both went to their quarters, ready to continue talking about your captain's probable 'crush' on you...
Your (E/C) orbs sparkled even more at the sight in front of you. The amusement park was colorful, as hues of red, pink, yellow, blue green and many more tainted the streets. Loud music could be heard, as well as the screams and sounds of fun from the children inside.
The others weren't different. Luffy, for example, was almost drooling at the sight, even glowing a gold, shiny light. You giggled a bit and, not really thinking, got Luffy's hand in yours, running into the lively place. You left Chopper and Usopp behind, but right now you wanted to have fun.
"This is very similar to Sabaody Park!" Said Luffy as you practically dragged him along the place. You nodded while looking everywhere. Suddenly, your eyes widened and you let out a little, surprised squeak, confusing the rubber boy.
"Luffy, look!" You said pointing at a specific direction. Luffy grinned upon seeing what you were talking about, and dragged you to the little mini-game stall.
There were lots of prizes, mainly stuffed animals, hanging from the wall, as well as the main activity. It seemed that it consisted in an aiming game, as there were balloons hanging from the wall as well. A young man was in charge of the stall, and he smirked upon seeing two new clients.
"Hi there. Want to try? Ten tries are 20 berries." He said smoothly and your eyes landed on a little (Favorite/Animal) stuffed animal, however you frowned. You didn't want Luffy to bother about trying to get it for you. Then, a tap on your shoulder brought you back, and you saw a toothy smile, directed only at you.
"Do you want that one?" He said pointing at the prize you were looking at. You hesitated for a bit, but ended nodding. Luffy's cute smile widened, and you blushed a bit. "Then, you will have it! Leave it to me!" You looked at him in awe, then nodded again. Luffy took the money from his pocket and slammed it excitedly against the counter, startling the boy. He looked strangely at Luffy before putting ten darts, which your captain got happily. He then started the game.
The darts were pointy, so it would be easy to burst the balloon if he hit it. And Luffy did it quite in a hurry, so he wasn't really close to hit his target. He let out an annoyed grunt as a cute pout appeared in his mouth, and you couldn't help a smile. When he had one dart left he looked at it expectantly, as if scolding the inert object. So, taking it easy, he aimed for the balloon and... threw the dart.
It hit it's target.
However, the balloon didn't burst. It stayed intact, as if nothing had touched it. You frowned and looked at the boy, who had a mocking smile on his face. Luffy had a confused expression as he looked at the balloon he had just hit.
"Um, he actually hit the balloon, why didn't it burst?" You asked quite bluntly and the man snorted.
"That may be just your imagination. If the balloon is intact, then he didn't hit it. If you're not gonna try again, go away." How rude, who the Hell does he think he is? A Tenryuubito? Then you heard something slamming against wood, and you looked up to see your captain's obscured face, as he out another 20 berries on the counter, much to your surprise.
"Yes, I'm going to try again. She wants that stuffed animal, so I'm getting it for her." Your eyes widened, and you blushed once again, this time harder. Did he say what he had just said? The man chuckled, which made your blood boil in anger. However, Luffy was too innocent to see that he was tricking him.
So Luffy tried, again and again. When he failed, he would pay more, ignoring your complains. But, he ended getting tired. The man had a satisfied expression, as he was rudely counting the money Luffy gave him in order to play.
"I'm sorry, (Y/N). I couldn't get you the stuffed animal." He said in a serious, apologetic voice. You shook your head, as a gentle smile appeared on your lips.
"Don't worry, I don't really mind. What's important is that you gave your best and-"
"But, I promised that I would get it, so..." Luffy suddenly grabbed your waist, and he threw you over his left shoulder, making you gasp in surprise and embarrassment. He then retracted his right arm and your eyes widened. He suddenly stretched his arm towards the stall, surprising the boy as he got on his knees to duck the attack. However, Luffy wasn't aiming for that guy. Instead, he got the (Favorite/Animal) and retracted his arm until it had a normal length, making a slapping sound.
"Luffy, what are you doing?" You gasped as Luffy started to run away, barely containing an amused, loud laugh. The boy started to yell and shout, demanding Luffy to stop. Not in his dreams. Luffy looked up at you with his wide smile.
"I told you that I would get it!"
After a while of running, Luffy stopped and he put you down. You had entered an alley, missing the people who followed you two. You sighed and looked back, just in case someone had seen you. Then, surprising Luffy, you let out a giggle.
"That was crazy, captain." You mocked him and he pouted. He then shoved the stuffed animal in front of your nose and you hummed, getting it with a smile. "Thank you so much, Luffy." You had to stop the urge to kiss his cheek, he was just so damn adorable.
Then, a rumble sound echoed in the dark alley you were in. You looked at the source of the problem: your captain's stomach. He let out a childish grunt, and you giggled.
"I'm hungry! But I spent all my money in that stall! Dammit!" You then took your captain's hand, gently and looked at him with a smile.
"I will pay then, even if that means a sudden death to my wallet." You joked, sticking your tongue out. Luffy's eyes sparkled and he ran to hug you.
"Thank you, (Y/N)! You're the best!" You blushed as his long arms wrapped around your torso. He was being more sticky than usually.
"Yummy!" Chimed Luffy, voice coming out muffled because of the large amount of food -meat- inside his mouth. You smiled, then sipped your drink not taking your eyes off your captain. As you thought, your wallet ended almost dead, but you didn't care. It was worth it to see Luffy this happy.
"I'm glad you like it, Luffy." You looked through the window and saw the ferris wheel, even more crowded than before. It was dark now, and the lights that came from the huge attraction were even more beautiful, as they seemed to open a shiny way through all the darkness. "Hey, Luffy, what if we go to the ferris wheel now?" Luffy looked at you with sparkling eyes, and you yourself couldn't hide your own excitement. However, your excitement wasn't caused by the same reasons as Luffy's.
"Come on, (Y/N)! You're too slow!" Luffy was running towards the large ferris wheel, as you walked slowly behind him. Sighing, the rubber boy grabbed your hand and jerked you, making you run there too. You could feel a knot forming in your stomach, as your palms became sweaty. You were clearly nervous... and scared.
You got there and, hesitantly, you took your dying wallet out, to spend the few money you had left. Then, once you paid, Luffy got your hand again and dragged you into the attraction. You sat in the comfortable sofa as Luffy stood there, looking through the window and waiting for the ferris wheel to move.
And it started. You, subconsciously, dug your nails in the soft fabric of the sofa as you felt your were levitating in the air. Luffy, on the other hand, was enjoying himself to the fullest.
"This is amazing! Look, (Y/N)! I can see the Sunny from here-" He turned to you and stopped jumping when he saw your, suddenly, pale face. Your breathing was accelerated, and you were trembling slightly as you curled into a ball in the sofa, not daring to look through the window. "(Y-Y/N), what happens? Are you okay?" He ran to you and shook your shoulders, seeing your eyes tightly closed. Luffy sat beside you and hugged you, but you were still scared. Then, a shaky breath left your dry lips.
"I-I'm scared of heights, Luffy." You whispered, and felt hot tears gather in your eyes. Luffy's brown eyes widened and he hugged you tighter. You hugged him back slowly, not wanting him to leave you alone.
"I'm here, don't worry. Nothing bad is going to happen." You were now in the highest point. Luckily, you couldn't see it. But you shook your head, not quite believing Luffy's reassuring words. It was so strange of him to be this tender, but you couldn't really think about that. Luffy sighed and took your chin between his thumb and index fingers. Your teary eyes looked into his strangely serious ones. "I don't know who to deal with crying women... So don't blame me if this is not what I was meant to do."
Then, you felt something press against your lips. Your eyes widened in surprise, a while after processing the data. Luffy was kissing you. Oh dear, did he even know what was a kiss? All the time, your eyes were wide open. Luffy then parted to breathe, and saw your surprised expression. It was a sweet, calming kiss, but a kiss after all. You felt better, indeed, and he smiled widely as the color returned to your face with a bright scarlet hue.
"Better?" You slowly nodded, and Luffy hugged you even tighter, not caring if he could form bruises. "I don't like when you cry. You're even more beautiful when you smile, so... smile!" Luffy was a strange man, that was something you could sense when you first met him. Now, he was demanding you to smile. So, why not? You put on your best smile, the sweetest, just for him.
"Like this?" You asked with a childish giggle. Luffy laughed his characteristic laugh and shook his head.
"No! Bigger!" You pouted and tried to widen your smile, ending with a strange face. Luffy laughed loudly and fell on the floor. You giggled too. The best thing is that you didn't care about the height you were anymore, you were just focusing on Luffy.
You already knew it, but you verified that day that he was the only one who could make you smile so heartedly, so truly.
