As Lauren goes to fall asleep inside the Hex, nightmares ensue.

But they're not hers.

Lauren feels Wanda's pain. She dreams of the moment where Wanda lost the love of her life. She feels everything and nothing all at the same time.

And when she awakens, she's reminded of an all too familiar moment in her own past. The day she lost the love of her own life.

And how she too create a false reality to stay with him.

Lauren and Wanda are not as different as they may seem. They both share a great loss, and great power.

Lauren shakes off any thoughts of her dead husband, then looks down at her body to see new clothes to go with the new decade.

Meanwhile, S.W.O.R.D. is scrambling for answers. And Director Tyler Hayward has no problem pointing fingers.

" We are now assessing a clearer picture of this crisis. And thanks to Captain Rambeau, we now have first person intel from inside the Westview Anomaly. Our initial theory had Wanda Maximoff as one of many victims. We now know she is the principle victimizer, along side former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Lauren Rogers."

" To be clear, we are unsure of Mage's role within the Westview anomaly," Jimmy corrects, then clears his throat, " Quick history on our subjects, born in Italy in 1984 to unknown parents, Lauren Stone was raised in Russia and trained in the Widow program lead by the late General Dreykov where they created a drug to subdue her powers of unknown origin. She left the KGB for S.H.I.E.L.D. and became an Avenger. She is the widow of Captain Rogers and has... well, a lot of powers. She really likes fireballs. Born in Sokovia in 1989 to Irina and Oleg Maximoff, both killed during an air raid when Maximoff and her twin brother, Pietro, were ten."

" The twins were subsequently radicalized, volunteering at HYDRA, the very same organization that had ties to Agent Rogers' upbringing," Hayward says.

" It's an oversimplification of events, but, yes, " Jimmy says, " After unspecified experimentation with the Mind Stone, Maximoff gained telekinetic and telepathic abilities."

" And earliest tracking had her using her powers against the Avengers. Is that correct?" Hayward asks.

" Right, before she earned their trust and became one herself," Jimmy says.

" Lagos and Germany, Budapest and Sao Paolo, we all know how those turned out. Now that we have the lay of the land, let's talk strategy. It is our policy to not negotiate with terrorists."

His choice of words shock the room, but none more than Captain Rambeau herself.

" Wanda's not a terrorist," She says.

" By your own account, you described the experience of being under her mind control as excruciating, terrifying, a violation," Hayward says.

" My point is, I don't believe she has a political agenda or any inclination towards destruction," Monica says.

" Monica, Maximoff blasted you halfway across New Jersey and Rogers took out a demi-god."

" And I survived because Wanda chose to protect me."

" She's holding thousands of people hostage."

" And it could've been more if she didn't put up her own quarantine. Listen, I don't believe this is a premeditated act of aggression."

" You don't? Bring up the visual."

On the monitors in front of them shows security footage of Wanda walking through S.W.O.R.D. HQ. It shows her blasting through a door, storming down the hallway and breaking a glass partition at gun point to get to the body of her dead lover.

" When was this?" Monica asks.

" Nine days ago," Hayward says, " Maximoff stormed our facility, stole the Vision's body, and resurrected him."

" But that's a direct violation of Section 36B of the Sokovia Accords," Jimmy says.

" And the Vision's own living will," Hayward says, " Maximoff, in her grief, disregarded his wishes. We are dealing with two, insanely powerful women who are capable of God knows what... and that's not to be treated lightly."

Life within the Hex is anything but normal. Everything is... scripted. Predetermined. Everything is controlled.

All except for Lauren.

She walks into the kitchen of the Maximoff residence, only to find the twins huddling around the sink, obviously older than when she first saw them.

" Weren't you boys babies five minutes ago?" She asks.

" Aunt Lauren!" The boy exclaim.

They pull on her heart strings with the nickname, but her eyes immediately go to the kitchen sink.

" Keeping secrets from your parents?" She asks.

The boys nod. And with a smile on her face, Lauren walks over and sticks out her pinky.

" I won't tell if you won't."

The boys wrap their pinkies around hers, but then gasp when their mother enters the kitchen.

" You know, I didn't miss the crying, but jeez Louise did you boys have to learn to walk?" Wanda asks, and upon seeing the boys faces, mirrors their expressions, " Unless you're innocently forming a human wall in front of the kitchen sink."

The dog in the sink sneezes, and the boys cover it up the best they can. The dog barks, but the boys cannot cover it this time.

" Now which one of you just barked?" Wanda asks.

" Aunt Lauren," The boys says.

" Hey!" Lauren exclaims as she walks away from the sink.

She goes to the kitchen table and grabs an apple along with the paper. As she reads, she notices how mind bogglingly odd the news is. Nothing really makes much sense.

Vision enters the kitchen, soon followed by Agnes with a dog house. Lauren continues eating her apple as they try and name the dog, who bites the electrical outlet and shocks himself.

" How bout Sparky?" Agnes suggests.

" Well should we make it official?" Wanda asks.

The red heart creates a collar out of thin air, much to Vision's dismay. Lauren observes from the table and gathers more intel. She doesn't know how the hell Wanda brought Vision back, but she has a pretty good idea. Whatever Wanda did, Vision doesn't know, but his suspicions continue to grow.

The boys beg to keep the dog, but their parents say that they can't have one until they're 10 years old. The boys share a look, and then instantaneously age 5 more years. Lauren's eyes widen as she drops the paper on the table.

" Let's just hope this dog stays the same size," Agnes chuckles.

Later in the day, after Vision goes off to work, the boys sit in the living room with their mother and their aunt teaching the dog how to do tricks. And for the first time since Lauren's arrival, Wanda has to deal with someone who's not within her control.

The boys question where their father is, considering it's a Saturday. Wanda easily comes up with an answer, and almost slips up when the boys ask if she has a brother.

" I do," Wanda says as she tries to keep her composure, " Yeah, he's far away from here. It makes me sad sometimes."

Sparky jumps from the table and runs to the front door. He begins barking and pawing at a presence that both Wanda and Lauren can feel. The women head to the front door and walk outside, only to find an 80's drone floating above their heads.

" Wanda, this is Captain Monica Rambeau. Can you hear me? I just wanna talk. That's it."

Wanda's eyes glow a menacing red, but once the drone releases a missile, Wanda loses it. The entire town goes on pause as Wanda catches the drone with her powers and walks it back to the town line. Lauren trails behind her, then teleports in front of the border in an attempt to stop her.

Wanda uses her powers to push Lauren out of her way, a gesture she doesn't appreciate.

While Wanda has multiple lasers pointed at her heart, Lauren appears from the border. Two of the most powerful beings in the world surrounded by ordinary humans with guns.

The S.W.O.R.D. agents stand in shock. None of them have seen an Avenger up-close, let alone the wife of Captain America.

The two women stand in their uniforms in the dark of night, and Lauren takes a deep breath as she opens her mouth.

" Wanda," She calls out, to which the Maximoff twin does not move, " Don't do this."

" Don't do what?" Wanda asks without turning her head.

" Don't make the same mistake I made," Lauren says, now drawing the attention to her, " I know what it's like to lose the one you love. I know what it's like to have that emptiness inside you. I know... I know what it's like to create a false reality to spend more time with them. Wanda... I created that for Steve and I... I spent hundreds of years in a bubble living out a fantasy... but it was never enough. I always wanted more. Pretending will only get you so far... it will never fill the void in your heart."

This is the first time anyone other than a sorcerer has heard her story. The wife of Captain America had created a false reality for her husband. Because she wanted more.

Wanda listens to her words, but only so much. Wanda's powers seep into the minds of the soldiers so they now point their guns at Director Tyler Hayward. She turns around to go back into the Hex, but not before she uses her powers to make it impenetrable.

Wanda steps back at looks at Lauren. The women stand there and look into each other's eyes, neither willing to back down.

" If you want to live in my house..." Wanda says, " You have to play by my rules."

" Wanda, please--" Lauren starts.

" Do you know why they make you the hero?" Wanda asks, " Because you would be unstoppable as the villain."

With her departing words, Wanda steps back into the Hex with ease, and leaves Lauren alone with S.W.O.R.D.

The hero has a choice to make, one that will not be easy. To live within a lie and help a friend from the inside, or live in the real world and help S.W.O.R.D. stop the person they've branded a terrorist.
