EIGHT YEARS (END)
Gina didn't know that this would be her cousins' last day in Narnia.
None of them did.
It was early morning. Gina had just woken up and decided to watch the sunrise.
She loved the view from up here.
From her balcony, she had a wonderful view of the eastern ocean. The water was a greenish-blue color, a color she has only seen in the early years of her childhood.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, taking in the smell of the ocean. She absolutely loved it.
It reminded her of home.
"Te atraparé, Valeria!" Gabriella yelled.
Valeria's small legs raced across the white sand as Gabriella chased her around. Their smiles were almost as big as the sea they ran along by.
Gina was standing on the shore, right where the water could splash on her feet and ankles. Holding her arms out, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She loved the smell of the ocean and the salty breeze blowing on her cheeks and into her hair.
Nohemí leaned back and rubbed her growing belly, watching what her eldest was doing. At the moment, she reminded her of a small bird about to take flight. Shaking her head, she smiled and looked back down at the small blue socks she was knitting.
Gina opened her eyes and took in the view of the sun setting across the water.
Ever since she was little, she always thought that the sun would immerse in the water itself, and she thought that it was going for a midnight swim. But of course, she was older now and understood that the sun never moved from its place.
"Niñas!" James shouted, carrying a soccer ball under his arm,"ven pa'ca!"
Gina suddenly turned and beckoned her sisters to follow her.
"¿Mande, morro?" Gina smiled, tucking a strand of wet hair behind her ear. Gabriella rocked in her feet and Valeria was trying to catch her breath.
James smiled at his small daughters in front of him.
"How's about we play a little bit of soccer before we take our leave?"
Gina perked up and smiled wide, "For real?"
James dropped the ball. Without a word of warning, he started to kick it around. All the girls giggled and followed him around, trying their very best to take a turn at kicking the ball.
That was one of the best memories she had with her family.
And it was three months before her family died.
Suddenly, she felt strong arms wrap around her waist.
Right underneath her growing belly.
Theo kissed the top of her head.
"Good morning, hermosa."
Gina smiled softly and looked up at him.
"Good morning, esposó."
"What's that one mean?" Theo chuckled.
Gina turned to face him.
It was in moments like these that she took the time to really look at him.
She never thought that she would have a family of her own. She never thought that she would marry a man like the one standing in front of her. Everything about him made her heart jump.
Theo was- and has always been- a very warm and soft person. Gina wondered if that's what caused her heart to melt whenever she laid eyes on him. And the way he made her feel...
The softness of his hair when she ran her fingers through it before going to bed, or whenever they had some time alone.
The look in his eyes when they meet her own. Whether it was across a room, or standing right in front of her.
And the scars etched across his sun kissed skin...they would tell Gina stories in silence. Stories of battles he fought, or the slip of a weapon in training...
Sometimes the stories would make her laugh, or cry, or perhaps both at the same time.
But the one that made Gina appreciate Theo was the one that crossed along his chest.
And that's when she realized that he was...
"Go put a shirt on and you'll find out," Gina giggled.
"Well, what if I don't want to?" Theo pouted.
Gina shook her head and smiled. But then she stepped closer and brushed her fingers on the scar she was just thinking about. And then she traced over the other scars he despised.
"You used to be proud of these..." Gina muttered.
Theo looked down and held onto her hips.
"That was before our marriage, Emí. Now..."
Theo looked away.
Gina sighed and reached up to move some of his brown locks away from his forehead.
Then she gently moved his head to face her, "Look at me Ted," Gina instructed, clasping her hands behind his neck, "you don't ever have to be ashamed of your scars. Each of them shows a sign that you survived something. Whether it was a small cut...or..."
She brushed her fingers over the scar on his chest again.
"Death itself," she muttered.
Both of them were silent for a while.
Theo sighed and tucked a strand of loose hair away from Gina's face. Then he moved his hands down to her growing belly, rubbing it gently.
"You scared?" He muttered.
Gina nodded solemnly.
"And I'm assuming it's because of-"
"Yes," Gina cut him off swallowing hard, "but so far, nothing feels...off. It's just the usual symptoms and what not."
She sighed deeply, "I think I'll be okay though. Five months have already passed..."
Gina turned around again and let Theo wrap his arms around her waist. They stood there watching the sunrise in silence.
"So what does that word mean?"
"Husband," Gina smiled.
Theo rested his cheek on top of her head and closed his eyes.
"I like that word," he mumbled.

"Well, we're off now, Gina. Peter wants to take the three of us to go and hunt the White Stag," Susan piped as she gathered her things.
"Ugh," Lucy groaned, "he would not stop going on about it. Neither would Edmund."
Gina laughed and stood up, groaning from the pain in her back.
"Are you alright?" Lucy asked cautiously.
"Yeah, it's just...oh my lower back is killing me."
Susan shrugged and smiled softly.
"Oh, I'm just so excited to see a little someone running around! Do you have a feeling of what it's going to be, Gina?" Lucy asked.
"Yes," Gina nodded, gently rubbing her stomach, "from how strong the kicks are, I say it's going to be a boy."
Both of them squealed excitedly, and Gina smiled wide at their actions.
"Right then," Susan confirmed, "We shall take our leave now. Peter wants to get an early start."
"Oh," Lucy pouted, "I so wish you could join us, Gina."
"I would if I could, Lucy..."
Lucy nodded understandingly.
"See you later then Gina," Lucy smiled as they walked out the doors.
"Farewell! Aslan protect you all!" Gina waved, but then she changed her mind, "Wait a minute!"
Both the queens turned to face her.
"I'd like to say goodbye to the boys as well," Gina called out.
"Come on then!" Susan called back.
Gina followed them to the stables.
*******************
"Peter! Edmund!"
Both of the boys looked up.
"Buenos dias, prima." Peter greeted with a smile.
Gina grinned, "Buenos dias, Rey Torpe."
Edmund scoffed and both of the queens giggled.
Peter laughed along with Gina.
"I just came to see you off..."
"Well, you're just in time!" Peter stepped closer and gave Gina a gentle and cautious hug.
"I'm so happy for you, dear cousin," Peter whispered.
"And I am proud of you," Gina whispered back.
"Alright, alright, it's my turn now!" Edmund called out, nudging Peter away.
"Take care of yourself, alright?" Gina cautioned.
"I will," Edmund responded, patting Gina's shoulder.
Lucy and Susan also embraced Gina for a while before all of them saddled up and rode their horses towards the woods.
****************************
That evening, the Kings and Queens did not come back.
Gina had a feeling of where they were. And she didn't think they would be coming back for a long time.
She couldn't sleep. It was hard to find a comfortable position, and she was crying silently.
She knew it would be the last time she ever saw them until the day Aslan called her back to His Country.
This happened for a few days...until one night, the couple's lives were changed forever.
Suddenly, someone burst into their room. From the sound of their footsteps, Gina could make out that it was a faun.
"Lady Gina," they whispered, "wake up!"
Gina slowly sat up, wiping her tears away.
Theo groaned next to her, stirring when he didn't feel his wife next to him. Then he opened his eyes and saw Tumnus scared out of his wits.
"By the Lion's Mane, Tumnus. What could you possibly want at this blessed hour?" Theo groaned.
"Narnia is being attacked."
Those words made Theo shoot up.
"What?! Right now?!"
"Y-Yes! We need to get the both of you out of here immediately. You need to leave for Anvard. King Lune has been notified. Two gryffins have volunteered to take the both of you there. I have prepared a stash of food and an eagle to keep guard. Going by horse or by ship would be too dangerous for the Lady Gina here..."
Theo and Gina looked at each other, then faced Tumnus again.
"Alright. How much time do we have?" Gina asked.
"Ten minutes," Tumnus answered, "but please hurry!"
The couple slipped out of bed and fumbled around to get dressed, packing clothes and other things.
That early morning, they left Cair Paravel with rapidly beating hearts. The gryffins knew that they must fly as smoothly as possible. When they landed almost a day later, they were greeted by Cor and Aravis.
Theo jumped off and thanked the gryffins and the eagle for helping them, then walked over to help his wife climb down.
"We are so sorry to barge in like this," Theo started, holding Gina's hand.
King Cor waved his hand dismissively.
"It's no trouble at all. My father was glad to help. Please follow me. You must be quite tired," Cor commented while glancing at Gina.
As they walked through the familiar halls, Cor asked, "How far along are you, Gina?"
"Five months," Gina sighed, smiling sleepily.
"Really?" Aravis asked surprised, opening the door to the couple's room, "It looks like you're farther along..."
And as they were leaving, Aravis smirked.
"You might be having twins, Gina."
Theo and Gina looked at each other after she closed the door.
Later on, Gina indeed gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl. Her children became a lineage of some of the greatest fighters in Archenland, especially in spirit. They lived on even after the war with Miraz and the Telmarines.
END.
