FIVE YEARS (PART ONE)
Gina couldn't believe her ears.
Five years. Five freaking years together....
The gift Aslan gave to her all those years ago was the ability to hear beyond. She could listen to someone having a conversation from miles and miles away perfectly. Aslan told her that it must only be used in the most drastic of times.
This was one of those times.
Theodore, or Teddy as she called him, Sadler.
Her first and only love.
They were engaged.
The wedding was to be in two weeks from today.
Ever since the day they met on those marble stairs, they knew that they were meant for each other. And as time passed, they grew closer and closer, and fell deeply in love with each other. Despite their pasts and mistakes, despite their flaws and scars both physical and mental, they connected and wanted to share the rest of their lives together.
And they've been so patient with each other. They talked about their passions and deep thoughts as if it were a normal thing. And they were so comfortable with each other. Their love was deep and healthy.
But he's been acting so very strange lately.
Gina thought that it was because of something to do with the wedding. Peter, being the second closest to her apart from Theo, noticed Gina acting a lot more serious than she should be. After all, she was getting married very soon. But every time he asked, she brushed him off and laughed. The others never noticed anything though.
But today was the day she found out why he has been acting so very strange.
Theo went to go see his dear friends to "catch up" with them for a few days, since he decided to move with Gina in Narnia. But she thought it would be strange to do it because of how close the wedding was.
She decided that this was enough. And she used the gift Aslan gave to her once she knew he would arrive.
Those horrible words kept ringing in her ears as she sat on the window seat in her new room.
"And have you come up with the rest of the plan, Father?"
"Yes, my dear boy. Just think! You're one step closer to being a future king! Once you marry that..."
"Watch it, Father. Whatever the case is, she is still my fiancée. And I still-"
Michael laughed.
"You're not going to say you still love her do you? You've got to be joking!"
"Yes, I do. She's been nothing but good to-"
She could hear Michael stand and push someone against the wall, and could hear Theo groan in pain.
"Listen to me, you idiot of a son...if you let your feelings for her get in the way, you'll never be able to sit on the highest of the king's thrones! Do you understand me?!"
She didn't hear Theo say anything. But she assumed that he nodded.
"Good. Now...get out."
Gina couldn't take anymore of it, so she stopped after that. She sobbed for what seemed like hours.
Michael knew that Gina was to be next in line if Peter ever...
And she wasn't going to let that happen. She knew what she had to do.
**********************************
She skimmed through the crowd of people moving this way and that in the ballroom when she spotted a familiar "golden boy."
He turned to look at her and smiled big. She smiled back.
Of course she had to. Everyone would get suspicious and worried if she wasn't beaming with joy.
But Peter knew her all too well. More than the others did. He could see it in her eyes. And she could see that he got the hint.
"Ah! There's the bride-to-be!" He bellowed.
Peter, much bigger and older than he once was, sauntered over to Gina and embraced her in a big hug.
"Come with me, dear cousin. I want to show you something!"
Still smiling wide, he took her hand and led her out of the room. They waved and smiled big at the people passing by in the halls.
The crowd of people started to disappear as they got in the deeper parts of Cair Paravel.
There was a hidden room that only they knew about. They would go there sometimes just to talk or cry to each other out of everyone else's sight.
Peter closed the door behind him and rushed over to Gina.
"C'mere, chava."
He held her as she cried bitter tears into his chest.
"It's alright, Gina..." Peter mumbled.
They stayed there for a while before Gina recomposed herself and told Peter the whole story.
He sat down on a crate and set his jaw in the middle of the conversation, and when it finished, he yelled and took it, throwing it across the room breaking it into bits.
"I'm gonna kill him with my bare hands..." he sneered.
"Hey!" Gina shouted and stepped closer to him, "don't you dare say that! Just listen to me-"
"No!" Peter shouted back, "you listen to me! Didn't I warn you from the very beginning that this would happen?! Huh?! You should've cut it off before it was too late!"
Gina groaned, "Don't you think I know that?! And I couldn't, Peter! I just...couldn't..."
She started to tear up again and looked away, her arms crossed to keep them from shaking so much.
Peter sighed deeply and paced the floor in front of her.
"Look, I'm sorry. I just...I can't believe this is happening...and to think that he still...he still...."
"Loves me? Yeah..."
Gina chuckles dryly and wipes her eyes with the palm of her hand, "You're telling me..."
