FIVE YEARS (PART THREE)

She took in a shaky breath and sat down on a nearby chair, her legs too weak to stand on.

"Now say what you're going to say before I leave," Gina mumbled, "and don't ask how I know about all of this, I'll explain some other time when I'm not in this state of mind."

Theo huffed and pulled his hair back. Then he crisscrossed in front of Gina. It took every bit of strength in him not to just break down and sob right then and there.

"First off, everything I say, Aslan himself knows that I speak the truth."

He took a deep breath and started off.

Gina stifled a laugh.

But Theo caught on and slightly glared at her.

"It's true," Theo sneered.

"I didn't say anything," Gina scoffed.

Theo rolled his eyes and swallowed hard.

"Ever since my mother died, my father has been acting...well...strange. He's been...well...he's gone insane. And he won't get this, this...idea out of his head. He wants me to take over Peter's throne once I marry you and become a great king. The high king."

He paused to wipe his eyes, then continued.

"That's why I've been acting so strange lately. Despite his insanity, he is still my father, and I still love him. And my plan was to play along and go on with life, but he will not have it. And that's why I had to go and visit him. I needed to play along because if I didn't, he would stop at nothing to hurt...you and...and..."

Theo swallows hard and wipes his eyes again. He was now crying.

He couldn't look at Gina in the eyes.

Theo felt so deeply ashamed of himself.

"Of course, I didn't want to tell you because I knew deep down that this is how you would react. And I didn't want to lose the only thing that matters the most to me, Gina. You're so...I can't even...I mean, there are no words to describe how much you've made me change. The way I look at things, the way I hear things, I mean...we're endgame, Gina. And...I can't explain how...deeply sorry I am. I'm so, so, so sorry..."

He finally decided to look up at her. But what he saw wasn't what he expected.

He expected to see her anger and disgust.

Instead, he saw pure shock and was in awe of what he just said.

"Teddy..." Gina breathed, "you...you really...and...all this time I thought...I thought..."

That's when both of them broke.

She reached out and pulled him in a bone-crushing hug. They sobbed into each other for what seemed like hours.

When they finally ran out of tears, Gina slightly pulled away and smiled softly.

Theo rested his forehead against hers.

"I don't deserve you," he muttered.

"You deserve so much more than that," she replied with a soft smile, "thank you for being honest, Ted. I am deeply sorry for yelling at you, and for keeping a big secret of mine."

"Always, Gina," he mumbled as he brushed the stray tears away from her cheeks, "I can promise you that. And I'm sorry for that too. But I don't think it's as big as mine was...is it?"

"Well," Gina replied, "I'll let you be the judge of that."

"Alright," Theo questioned raising an eyebrow, "care to tell me how you found out?"

"You remember when I told you that I died once?"

"Mhm" Theo nodded, "you took a blade for Lucy, right?"

"Yes well...for my cousins, it was two weeks since I died. But for me, it was two minutes. I remember...I remember Aslan telling me that it was not my time to leave this world just yet, and that my actions will be remembered until the end of time. And before He escorted me back, He gave me a gift. It was the ability to hear beyond. I can listen to a conversation from miles away perfectly. Though, if I use it for a long time, I get quite exhausted. He told me to use it only in the most desperate of situations..."

Gina sighed and looked into Theo's velvety eyes.

"I believe this was one of those times, Teddy."

Theo shed a couple of tears again, and this time Gina gently wiped them away.

She closed her eyes and leaned her forehead against his.

"It's getting late, ya know..."

"Mm?" Theo muttered, "Haven't really noticed..."

"I should get going then..."

Reluctantly, Gina pulled away and stood up, straightening the skirt of her simple dress.

Theo smiled as he watched her. He couldn't wait to marry this woman.

And as she was just about to walk out the door, he called out,

"What, no kiss goodnight?"

Gina chuckled. She turned her head slightly and winked at him, mirroring his smile.

"Not just yet..."

"And you're quite sure this is true?"

Peter stopped pacing in front of her and waited for her to answer.

They didn't have much time before they had to go back to prepararing things again. Gina kept the story short and to the point.

"Yes," she nodded, "I went back to past conversations and can confirm that Michael is indeed going insane. But I couldn't go back too far, it exhausts me more the farther back I go."

Peter nodded solemnly, stroking his newly grown beard.

Gina clenched her jaw, thinking about what to do.

Then suddenly Peter walked in a fury over to the door and walked out the door. Gina followed him concerned.

"Where are you going?" She suddenly asked.

"To talk to him," he called out.

She stopped and watched him saunter down the hall.

"We can't just-"

Peter stopped and suddenly turned around, "Are you coming or not?"

With her eyes still on him, she shut the door behind him. Gina shook her head.

"I swear he's still the same stubborn boy I once knew," she muttered. Then with a deep sigh, she scurried over to follow him.

"Yeah, I'm coming."

******************************

Four days have passed since all of this happened.

King Lune of Archenland, which is Theo's birthplace, has been notified of what's been going on. And he will be detained.

But not without a little talking first.

If he's isn't willing to get help, then he's going to have to be placed somewhere else. To protect Theo's future family.

It was decided that Lucy and Susan would stay to help in place of Edmund and Peter.

Along with a few centaurs and fauns, who were a part of the Narnian guard, accompanied Peter, Edmund, Theo and Gina on this emergency trip.
