Chapter12: Infiltrating Movies

CHAPTERTWELVE_INFILTRATING MOVIES
September 30, 2032

It’s now Wednesday. The group are meeting in the school’s library. They were able to get Matt, Kimmy, and Justin’s older sister, Avery, to the meeting.

Ellie began: “Okay, today is the day of the auditions for Advanced Enhancements. So far, only one well-known actor has joined the cast. What Declan deduced from the actor, Melissa Jenkins, is that she’s a Gen-Mod playing the role of Jesse Hastings. As for Tristan, he wants to audition new, unknown actors. So far, Declan and I are auditioning for the movie. I’ll be aiming for Elena Vanderbilt, while Declan will go for Damon Kingston. Now, who else is auditioning?”

Avery asked, “Okay, why am I here?”

Justin told her, “We’ll get to that in a moment. As for auditioning, nah.”

Aaron said, “I’m still busy writing the scripts. They’re almost done, though.”

Rachel continued being on her phone. Aria looked over her shoulder, and saw she was on Tumblr. Aria grabbed her phone. Rachel glared at her, and demanded, “Give me back my phone!”

Aria told her, “Not until you tell us why you were busy on Tumblr!”

Rachel rolled her eyes, and said, “I’m just reblogging relatable quotes. That’s all.”

Aria then stuffs the phone into her purse, and said, “You can have your phone back after this meeting is done. And why did you reblog a quote from Perfect Beings?”

 “None of your business.”

Emily said, “Okay! Let’s get back to this meeting! Rachel, are you going to audition?”

Rachel shrugged, and said, “I don’t know. Maybe. I’m not really much of an actress.”

Matt said, “I guess I could act. I did used to love theatre when I was a younger.”

Kimmy smiled at him, and held his hand. Matt looked back at her, but didn’t smile back. She looked away. Aria noticed this, so she told him, “After this, I need to talk to you.”

 Matt nodded his head.

Then Avery asked, “Now can we find out why I’m here?”

Aria said, “Yes, actually. We need to gather all of the Gen-Mod student and teacher-students for a meeting on how we can fight for Gen-Mod rights and educate everyone about us. We need a club to get everyone together.”

Avery raised an eyebrow as she asked, “And you want me to create some club and garner attention since I’m the class president?”

 “Exactly.”

Avery thought for a moment, and asked, “What do Gen-Mods think of the Gen-Mod Genre?”

Declan said, “It’s mixed. Some like it, most don’t.”

Avery said, “Well, I could create a club where anyone can express their opinion on the Gen-Mod genre. Sort of like a debate club. Student-teachers are also invited.”

Aria grinned at that idea. She told Avery, “That’s a great idea! How soon can you put it together and recruit people?”

“Well, I’ll have to use InstaVine, Facer, and Tumblr to advertise the club. And I’ll have to make a table for sign-ups. I should have the first meeting by Monday.”

“Great! Well, let us know how things went.”

 “Sure.”

With that, the meeting was over. As soon as everyone left, Aria took Matt aside. She asked him, “You’ve been distant from Kimmy lately. She even marked you.”

Matt sighed as he replied, “She…she revealed what she is. She told me she’s a Gen-Mod. Hence why she dragged me to this meeting. Look, I’m struggling with this, okay? I haven’t rejected her, and I won’t. But this whole ‘Gen-Mods are real’ thing is still a lot to take in. And it doesn’t help when my parents talk about how the Gen-Mods are the worst things man has created. No offense.”

Aria sighed as she said, “None taken. Maybe Gen-Mods are the worst things humans have created. Sure the scientists played God by creating us. But we’re here now, and it’s obvious they’re going to stay here forever.

“As for Kimmy, I get this scares you. I bet you’ve even tried to cover up that mark of yours on the corner of your neck and your shoulder. So far, I can’t see it with your clothes on. But you should be with her. She needs you.”

Matt sighed, and said, “I know she needs me. I’m trying, okay? It’s…it’s just hard.”

 “I get it, Matt.”

Aria then noticed Kimmy at her locker. She turned to face Matt, and said, “Go be with her, Matt. She really does love you.”

Matt nodded his head. He walked up to her, and hugged her. She hugged him back.

It’s now late afternoon. The group arrived at Dexter Productions for the auditions. Ellie, Declan, Matt, and Rachel were in the waiting room, waiting for their names to be called.

Rachel was busy on her phone. Ellie noticed this, so she asked, “Rach, why are you so busy on your phone? I mean, I get Tumblr and InstaVine are addicting, but seriously?”

Rachel looked up, and said, “You wouldn’t understand.”

“Understand what? You’re barely with Nathan…or any of us, for that matter.”

Rachel rolled her eyes, and said, “Look, I’m here auditioning for that stupid revival movie, okay? Maybe that’ll keep Aria happy!”

That surprised everyone. Declan asked, “Rachel, are you okay? You’re hardly snappy towards your best friends.”

Rachel said, “Look, I’m fine, okay? Now, stop asking me if I’m fine or not!”

With that, Ellie’s name was called. She hugged Declan, and walk away. She was soon faced with Tristan, who co-wrote the new script, and who’s also directing the movie.

He saw her, and asked her, “So what role are you aiming for?”

She took a deep breath, and said, “Elena Vanderbilt.”

At the same time, Aaron, Aria, Nathan, and Kimmy were in the car. Aria was on her laptop. She put out her hand, and asked Aaron, “Got the new script?”

Aaron gave the USB stick to her, and said, “Yup. I had to put the script on this old thing.”

Aria gave a proud smirk as she told him, “Smart move, Hartsfield. Now all we have to do now is send this script to everyone, including Tristan. Then I’ll wipe out the original script and current script. Then they’ll be forced to use your work.”

Aaron smiled at that. Then Nathan blurted out, “Why is Rachel ignoring me? She barely talks to me lately.”

With that, the three turned to face him. Aria said, “I don’t know, to be honest. She’s getting on my nerves lately, though. She’s always on her phone.”

Kimmy added, “Yeah, and she’s barely aware during cheer practice. Cheryl had to do everything for her.”

Aaron asked, “Has she always been like that?”

Aria shook her head, and said, “No. I’m making Declan deduce for me to find out what’s going on. So far, from what he could read from her is that she’s…”

She looked at Nathan, who was pleading to know what’s going on. She took a deep breath, and said, “Nathan, she’s trying to see some other guy. He’s a little bit older than her.”

With that, Nathan’s eyes fell. Aria could tell he was heartbroken by this. She told him, “I’m sorry, Nathan. Look, I can do a test on you to see if you’re programmed to have multiple mates, okay? This is a serious issue.”

Nathan shook his head. He abruptly got out of the car. He stormed up to the building. He went inside. He didn’t see Rachel in the waiting room, but he did see Declan, Ellie, and Matt.

 He demanded, “Where is Rachel?”

They looked up at him, and saw he was nearly seething. Declan took Nathan to the restroom. He made sure there was no one around.

He told Nathan, “You need to calm down. I’m guessing Aria told you what I deduced, didn’t she?”

 Nathan said, “Yeah, she did.”

Declan sighed, and said, “Look, I get you’re pissed at her. But so far, she hasn’t done anything. The guy she’s going after isn’t interested in her. He’s not even programmed to have mates.”

Nathan blinked as he calmed down. He asked, “So…I have nothing to worry about?”

Declan bit his lip, and said, “Maybe, maybe not. I’m not sure.”

Nathan groaned in frustration as he slid down on the wall. He told him, “So what am I supposed to do?”

Declan sat next to him, and said, “You two need to talk. She doesn’t get the seriousness of her being mated to a Gen-Mod. Wait…have you two had sex yet?”

Nathan shook his head as he answered, “No. My body is screaming to, though. It’s actually hard to control it.”

“I know that feeling. I’m feeling the exact same way to Ellie. Especially since we marked our mates. But as for Rachel…I did deduce something is going to happen to her. I can’t figure what it is, but if I were you…I’d talk to her about what she’s doing whilst you got time.”

Nathan nodded his head. He knew he had to talk to Rachel. But one thing that’s now on his mind is what Declan told him: Something is going to happen to her, and he couldn’t figure out what that “something” is.
