i don't have much to report in this graphic portfolio update. i've been really busy as of late, with school, work and just general life stuff, but i do love graphic design, even if it's in a wattpad capacity. so i have a handful of graphics to show you guys that i've made over the past couple weeks while i've been between school terms. i hope everyone is doing well.

i took dynasty down earlier this year because i didn't think i'd write for it ever again. however, photos from the set of enola holmes 2 featuring louis partridge as lord tewkesbury sent me right back into the brainrot. so i revamped the entirety of the story, with a new layout, new moodboards, and a (somewhat) new cover. original dynasty readers will remember this cover in its original form, with a lyric from the rina sawayama song dynasty ("saving myself is all i really know") instead of this quote by mary oliver: "it's time to come back from the dark." of course dynasty is what gave this story its title, but in its new incarnation i think the oliver quote is much more fitting.

here we have new moodboards for fallon kryze. we return to the original colour scheme of teal and yellow—however, it's much more vibrant this time, pushing the whole, "it's time to come back from the dark" aesthetic (if "the dark" was like, a depressing and kinda boring colour scheme.)

wattpad won't let me upload every single new moodboard i made, so we'll exist in moderation and i'll keep to the two most important characters: fallon kryze, as seen just before, and lux bonteri. i made the last dynasty moodboads back when i wasn't entirely sure of the direction i was taking lux; now, i'm much more certain, and the imagery in his moodboards (the plants, the light, the language of flowers) reflects that.

the rest of the updated dynasty graphics can be found, of course, in dynasty itself. dynasty is my longest-running story on wattpad, as well as the story i've physically written the most for (its current version, as it exists on google docs, is about 82,000 words.) so it's a bit of a mission to read, but if you like the clone wars era of star wars, are particularly attached to mandalore, or really, really like skinny white boys, please give it a chance!

afterlife received a graphic revamp before i went on my [semi] hiatus a few months back, but i couldn't resist giving it another refresh. i made this cover twice over, experimenting with various uses of colour. at its core, it's not particularly complex, but afterlife's graphics never have been. there are some stories where i'll go all out for the graphics—now you see me, witch burning—because the nature of those stories requires spectacle, but afterlife is just... afterlife.

as we all know, i'm obsessed with my dc original character lark lennox, and furthermore obsessed with the main story she appears in, witch burning. as such, i'm always making covers—particularly comic ones—for her and that story. this cover, however, took a lot of fiddling to get it right. i don't tend to share much about my actual process (more so, just the ideas that drove me to make something and how those ideas are realised in the final product.) but as you can see above, i had trouble deciding on a colour scheme. all three variants are derived from lark/witch burning's colour scheme.

the first cover felt too... pure, for lark. too light—witch burning readers or even just the friends i've ranted to about lark will know she is anything but light, and exists only in excess. the second cover is a little too pink, and the third cover is a weird waystation between the two.

this is what i settled on. i know it might not look that much different, but there are little adjustments i made to balance out the cover as well as The Pink. i don't usually make standalone covers for my original characters, mostly because i don't see the point—without their love interest or their team, whatever applies, it's literally just an edited comic cover of a pre-existing character with my story's title slapped on LMAO—but lark's comic faceclaim as lovebird, jean grey, has so many resources i couldn't resist.

and here's the final graphic for this update—another witch burning comic cover. since this one features wally west, it leans more into the part of the witch burning colour scheme that symbolises him: red and pale blue. you'll find lots of lark-oriented graphics are more on the red/pink side of things, whereas wally is very rarely pink and sticks to red/blue. this is on purpose, as most things i do tend to be! (i am so mentally ill.)

so, we all know i'm obsessed with lark lennox. we also know i'm obsessed with kyle rayner—and, by extension, obsessed with them together. kyle will make an appearance in witch burning, if not for the sake of making an appearance. the covers above aren't really accurate, because the team in the art is the titans, not young justice, but... whatever. as i've said before, there's only so many decent modern kyle resources, so i make do with what i have. the covers above are experimentations with colour—since the resources i used were so bright and colourful, i had a lot of breathing room when it came to the cover's own colouring.

this is ultimately the colour scheme i settled on; it's the witch burning colour scheme, adjusted to accommodate the green that comes hand-in-hand with anything to do with kyle.

i do have an au for lark, however, where instead of lovebird/the heartrender she's instead a star sapphire. this colouring reflects that au. i don't know if i'll ever get around to actually writing said au, but it does exist and that's what matters!
