Chapter One

The cold winds of the night briefly brushes against your skin as you briskly walk beside your co-star Chris Evans, or in this circumstance, Kenneth Conrad, the character he was currently playing at the moment.

"Do you really believe that marrying him is the right choice?" asked your co-star. "I mean, he's grown up being one of the biggest players I know."

"Kenneth, he promised me that he has changed, and I trust him." you spoke confidently, both of you stopping simultaneously. "Who else would I choose to marry anyways?"

"Anybody but him," he breathed out, his blue eyes boring in yours. "I just don't want to see you get hurt," he expressed truthfully. "not again."

You avoid his gaze, leading Chris to place his index finger underneath your chin. He lifts your head up and lock eyes with him. Chris leans in, but you pull away while taking a step back.

"I can't do this Kenneth," you whisper softly. "I'm in love with somebody else."

Chris intensely stared at you, and that was the closing line of the scene. The bell sounded off and you blink yourself back into reality. You always lost yourself in character whenever you shot movies, that was what made you so valuable as an actress. You were able to become the character, but still remain who you were off camera. Chris smiled brightly at you, while you forcefully returned a tight-lipped smile back at him.

"You did amazing [Y/N]." chris complimented, approaching you. "I think you genuinely captured the—"

You quickly nod at your co-star before scurrying off the opposite direction. You hear Chris stumble in the middle of his sentence and ask where you were going, but you didn't look back. Your vision was blurring from the emotions that came striking back into your mind. That specific scene was difficult for you because it was like you were re-living a situation you wished you could forget.

Chris sighed to himself once you had completely disappeared out of his sight. It wasn't the first time. He was soon greeted by his other co-star, who was playing his best friend in the film.

"Great job Chris!" he praised, lightly patting him on the shoulder. Chris didn't flinch, his eyes were fixated on the direction you ran off to. His buddy nodded in realization when he connected the dots. "I get it. You're still hung up on [Y/N]. Well, she's a tough egg to crack, that's all I have to say."

"Why is it so hard to become friends with her?" chris asked out of the blue. "I mean, I'm pretty  nice, I don't think I'm too scary."

"You are nice Chris and the complete opposite of scary," he agreed. "it's just that [Y/N] has problems opening up to people, you know? At least that's what I've heard."

"Well, if she doesn't even befriend her co-stars, how did she get so far in acting?"

"Seriously Chris?" his friend scoffed. "[Y/N] has everything that Hollywood could wish for in an actress. She draws the crowd. She keeps the crowd. She brings the money. Who cares if she befriends her co-stars? If she's making bank for the movie she's in, the producers will steal her regardless if she likes or is liked by her co-stars."

Chris stayed quiet. His working partner was right. It seemed to be that way, he just wished he knew more about you. You were a mystery Chris was willing to unravel. He didn't know how he was going to get through to you, but he was ready to try.

Messy hair, tired bags underneath your eyes, it was called lack of sleep, which is something that commonly occurred in your acting career. You were not a morning person, but the only motive of getting up was the delicious breakfast foods that was served on set. You were always the first person awake out of the entire cast, and you wanted it to stay that way. You enjoyed retrieving your food and taking it back with you to your trailer to eat it alone.

It wasn't that you didn't want to chat with your co-stars, it was just that you didn't want to get too attached to any cast members. The last time you did, it didn't end too happily. Ever since that event, you weren't very talkative to anybody on set. You decided to stop treating your career to get close to people, but to just get the job done. You were there to act, shoot the movie, and carry on to the next movie.

You were always busy. You didn't have time to make friends, at least that was your excuse. Separating yourself from others wasn't a secret when it came to your acting career. Everybody you've ever worked with knew about it, and that was all thanks to the fans. Some of your fans claimed that you didn't talk to people because you were a snobbish asshole who thought you were better than your co-stars.

Others declared that it was because you were just a shy person overall and socializing wasn't your strong suit. It annoyed you how fans go around, acting as if they really do know you, but their assumptions are far from the truth. Social media really liked to twist the truth. A gentle knock was heard and pulled you out of your thoughts.

"Hey [Y/N], can I come in?" asked the person, from the other side of the door. It sounded like the director of the film. "I need to talk to you about something."

You briefly fix your hair up in the mirror before rushing to open the door, only to see that it wasn't the director on the other side.

"Good morning [Y/N]," greeted your co-star Chris, a warm smile crossed his lips. You lean out of the trailer and saw your director walking away with one of the crew members. Chris seemed to have used the director as bait to make open up the door. "I was wondering if you would like to join me for breakfast?"

"I'm okay, thanks," you respond, subtly tilting your way back into the trailer. "maybe some other time though."

You leisurely shut the door, providing Chris an awkward smile in the process. Once the door was all the way closed, you press your back against it.

"They're not serving breakfast this morning [Y/N]," chris spoke through the door. "the cooks aren't available this morning, so everyone in the cast is taking someone they don't really know out for breakfast," he explained. "you know, to get to know them? I chose you [Y/N], so come on. I guess if you'd rather starve, that would definitely let me know what you think about me."

You slowly drag the door open, peeking at Chris. "You're lucky I'm hungry."

Chris beamed you a smile. "I'll take that as a yes."
