Yes, they can be a great thing and flatters the hearts of people who were tagged by someone. This chp. isn't about getting rid of these threads, but to speak my mind of why I dislike them.

To start, I think I did, once, participate in the awards/nomination threads. But once upon a time was long ago. After that, I lost taste. At the start, the threads looked great and getting recognition that someone knew you and liked your work was even better. However, problems arose.

I felt people were left out, and it made them feel bad. Honestly, who won't?

People may not know certain people, which is understandable. 

People definitely voted for their friends over someone who actually has skills.

It's basically a popular contest for most. 

It's annoying to me. :/ I might be ignorant now, since who knows some if anything changed since the last time I been in one, feel free to let me know.
