Leslie Davis was a blank slate. With a closet full of skeletons to rival a shipwreck, he was hellbent on being nothing but what he showed, his past a memory so distant he could hardly admit it existed. He would never talk about what had caused his new change, but now he was in a new, smaller apartment with new, louder friends, and a new, mundane job. He didn't want anything exciting, he just wanted something new. A clean slate with nothing to worry about except survival.

But then May Parker. A woman with just as many skeletons and a whirlwind of problems, he overheard every conversation she had over their cubicle divider, heard her silent tears as she tried to work, talking with her nephew and working twice as hard to make sure she could support them both, braving through the holes in her second hand blazers and wobble in her nearly broken heels.

So, with his blank slate and new attitude, he reached out to her, bringing her lunch and coffee that he just so happened to have for extra, asking her about her nephew, the little hobbies she had when she was younger, and the college horror stories that made her face turn red. His blank slate was quickly being filled, and he couldn't find it within himself to mind.

But as the two grow closer, skeletons begin to fall out, and Leslie begins to question just how far he wants to take this. Because he quickly learns that, to escape the past, one must first embrace his demons.

I'm almost positive that this is the first May Parker fic on this site, which I'm proud of (and a little hurt by because damn it ya'll we sleep on May all the time.) But basically I'm doing this to give her the recognition she deserves.
