I've met the kind who love pretty
their wide eyed gaze until it
fades and they move on to the next lifesize Barbie

I've watched the kind who make promises
like they're giving away extra change only to
break the strong words that could've built a fortress

I've run into the kind who label themselves kings
conquering hearts and wealth as a notch on their belts
till they fall and wonder why they haven't grown wings

But I've also found those whose souls are stars
they shine so bright that even after death
they leave behind endless light than irreparable scars
