SOMEHOW Odessa and Jake had convinced Parker, who had the slightest change of heart, that they could convince the Na'vi to leave home tree. The twist was they had an hour — sixty minutes — three thousand six hundred seconds and if they failed, there wasn't much they could do from where they would be locked away.
"Go." Grace gently pushed Odessa forward. Odessa had been trying to make sure Grace was linked and such, but Grace could do it herself. "Go, now."
Odessa nodded, moving forward and sitting in her own pod, swinging her legs over and onto the soft gelly like material. She placed the metal contraption that helped keep her body against the gelly material.
Just before she closed the pod, Parker strolled over, leaning over her. "Listen, you've got one hour. Unless you and Jake over there want your girlfriends in there when the ax comes down, you get them to evacuate. One hour." He closed the lid to the pod as he walked away.
Odessa closed her eyes, allowing her mind to drift.
🌍.
NEYTIRI watched with prying eyes as Odessa stirred from where she had been placed after she had collapsed. She leaned forward, her hand still intertwined with Odessas.
"Dessa?" Neytiri said, watching as the eyes of her loved one opened. "Des."
Jake and Grace stirred and awake next. Neytiri left Odessas side to make sure the other two were okay before they all made their way down the spiral staircase to warn the others.
Niave stood with her aunt and uncle, locking eyes with Jake, who smiled in relief that she was okay.
"Mother!" Neytiri called out to her mother. Her mother and her father were standing together, planning the attacks.
"Eytukan, I have something to say." Jake told them with urgency in his voice. He looked around the clan frantically, hoping that they would listen to what he would tell them.
"Listen." Grace pleaded, stepping forward beside Jake.
"Speak, Jakesully." Eytukan nodded, granting him permission to speak what he so desperately needed to say.
"A great evil is upon us." Jake started "The sky people are coming ... to destroy home tree." The people around gasped in fear at what Jake had just said, and the warriors huffed in disbelief, unsure whether to believe the dream walker or not. He turned to Neytiri and Niave, realizing the clan may listen to them. "Look, tell them they're gonna be here soon."
"Father, please listen." Neytiri spoke up, looking at her parents from where she stood beside Jake and Odessa. "He is telling the truth. The sky people are coming."
"You have to leave, or you're gonna die." Jake deadpanned in a sincere voice, looking over towards Odessa who nodded that he was being truthful.
"Are you certain of this?" Mo'at demanded, eying the dream walkers who most definitely knew if Jake was lying of telling the truth.
Jake paused for a moment knowing what he said next, it could be the on the line between destroying what he built, or saving what he built.
"Look, they sent me here to learn your ways, so one day I could bring this message and that you would believe it." Jake explained shortly, his own eyes saddening at what he had said.
Odessa felt her heart break, Neytiri could feel her pain.
Niave whirled towards Jake, her hands reaching out and landing on his shoulders. "What are you saying, Jake? You knew this would happen?"
"Yes. — Look, at first it was just orders. A-and then everything changed." Jake told her, tilting his head to the side, his dark hair falling over his face. "I - I changed my mission. I saw what this place was. I fell in love. I fell in love with the forest and with the Omaticaya people. And I fell in love with you, Niave."
Niave pushed him backwards, blinded by the rage she felt. "I trusted you!" She continued to push him backwards, her hands banging against his chest. She cried out, pushing him once more as she yelled to him, "I trusted you!"
Neytiri looked towards Odessa, trying to figure out if she knew. She studied her, feeling the pain in her heart go away momentarily. "Did you know?"
Odessa shook her head truthfully. She didn't. This was shocking to her. "No, no, love, I promise I didn't know."
Neytiri believed her. She could see the pain in her eyes, she could feel the stabbing heart break that filled her chest. She knew that Odessa didn't know. Yet, she still had to ask.
Neytiri watched as her cousin cried, continuing to bang her fists against Jakes chest. Angry, betrayal, sadness washed over her Niaves face, and everyone could see. She stepped towards her cousin, pulling her towards her and into her arms.
That's when Odessa neared Jake. "What did he promise you, huh? New legs? A life time free of debt?" She pushed him, blinded by anger now. "Huh!"
Jake stumbled, in shock at the rage he could see in Odessa's features. He felt guilty, why wouldn't he? He had messed up, causing a rift between him and Niave, and himself and Odessa. He just hoped that he could earn their trust once again.
"You kept this from me for three months! I could have helped!" Odessa pushed him again, the Omaticaya people gazing at the two dream walkers with narrowed eyes. "This is my home! And - and you messed this up for me!"
Odessa was mad. She had built something, and if it wasn't for Jake, nothing would have happened. Yet she couldn't help but feel betrayed and broken at what he had done.
"I couldn't let you be involved." Jake stated sadly, looking towards his feet before he looked up. "You can help me now, help me evacuate them, help me save them."
Odessa shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks as she did so. "If I helped, it wouldn't be for you. So much for the dead twin club, huh?"
She pushed herself away from Jake, leaving him saddened. She stepped towards Grace who frowned. "Did you know too?"
Grace only nodded. She didn't dare to speak, knowing that the words she would say would most definitely cause Odessa more pain.
Neytiri finally calmed her cousin, and once she moved away from Niave, she stocked up to Jake. "You will never be one of the people."
Odessa felt the ache in her chest worsen. She knew that she wouldn't be one of the people, ever, because she was still seen as one of the sky people.
"We tried to stop them!" Grace said urgently, trying to calm Neytiri who looked between everyone with such power. Despite knowing that Odessa didn't know about what would happen, she couldn't help but feel betrayed by her as well because of her relationship with Jake and Grace.
"Neytiri, Niave, please! Please!" Jake begged as Neytiri held up her hand and turned away from Jake, pure sadness in her eyes.
"Bind them." Eytukan growled, seeing the heartbreak and pain on his niece and daughters faces. Tsu'tey's and other warriors charged forward at the order.
The bound all three; Grace, Jake and Odessa. Odessa struggled the most, eyeing Neytiri who couldn't do anything from where she stood beside her father, her pleads for her mate went through one ear and out the other.
"You have to go! They're coming!" Grace started to struggled, her arms held behind her back as she shouted at those around her.
"Silence!" Tsu'tey snarled, eyes narrowed as he tightened the rope around Jake.
Eytukan raised his bow high into the air, earning war cries from the Omaticaya people.
Jake watched from where he had been knelt, arms bound behind his back. His heart felt like it wasn't working anymore, that it had too much damage.
🌍.
HOVERING over the forests, only so far away from home tree, a fleet of hovercrafts, ships, helicopters armed with heavy artillery flew.
"Time on target, one mike." A pilot, the dragon pilot, said into his coms.
"Copy. We have a visual." Scorpion piloted replied, hands clutching onto his handles.
"Roger that. Stay on heading 030." Dragon Pilot stated, looking over his shoulder to see all the other aircrafts.
"Roger 030."
Home tree was in their sites, and they were minutes away from causing so much pain and destruction.
🌍.
AT home tree, the Omaticaya people had taken large wooden poles and strung Odessa, Grace and Jake up onto them in punishment.
Everyone turned hearing the hovercrafts approaching.
"Eytukan!" Grace and Jake called out for him, their voices in sync.
"Run to the forest!" Odessa pleaded. "Go to the tree line, go anywhere safe!"
"They're coming!" Grace yelled out, struggling against the ties.
"They will destroy this place. They will destroy this place!" Jake yelled out in a panic, his voice raising as he looked from side to side.
"Neytiri! Niave! You must go now!" Odessa yelled as everyone watched the sky.
A warrior yipped and pointed into the sky, seeing the approaching fleet.
"Run to the forest! Run!" Jake pleaded loudly, his voice only reaching the ones close to him.
The people stood tall, their bows and arrows and spears in hand. They were ready to attack.
"Have no fear!" Tsu'tey spoke loudly to the people. "Have no fear!"
"No! God damn it, run!" Jake screamed in fear for the people, for the land.
"Take the Ikran, attack from above!" Eytukan instructed Tsu'tey.
"The Ikran! Go! Go!" Tsu'tey spoke to his warriors who followed behind him.
Odessa let out a yell, her arms aching from the ropes that were tight against her wrists. "Leave! Please. Neytiri, love!"
🌍.
"That is one big damn tree." Quaritch stated, looking out the windshield of the largest ship. He strolled over to one of the monitors, smirking. The image on the screen flashed once before it became clear. Odessa, Jake and Grace tied up, with weapons to their throats. "Well, well, well. I'd say diplomacy has failed. All right people. Let's get this done. I want every gas round you got right in the front door."
"Roger, CS. 40's going hot. Firing." And then large canisters were shot into home tree. Gas began releasing from the said container and the Omaticaya people started screaming and then coughing.
