Chapter Two: Mission

{ALISHA}

One month… one month after that horrifying event.

Classes resumed and from that I’ve learned many, from the kingdom’s history, its way of crowning royalties

The queen was crowned by her blood. The prince was crowned by prophecy, and the future princess will be crowned by choice.

Now I’m more encouraged to study royalty, to fit the choice of a princess

“Are you planning to balance books on your head? Practice pouring tea or coffee? Speaking while your chin is up?” Nalla asked me like she was terrified

“Ummm, yes?”

“Oh gracious, you are going to ask me if you’re doing well while doing all of that”

Oh, maybe I am bugging her when I train. But who cares she learns too anyway.

“You can’t blame me anyway, you know my dream and goal” I said as I fix my things, our books are combined with a strap, not a bag.

“I know, I just don’t like it, it’s neither my dream nor goal anyway” she said rolling her eyes, that thing has been her hobby for the past month.

“Why are you here anyway?” she doesn’t take classes, she wants to be a soldier but there is no classes for girls. The queen allowed her to quit royal classes and just continue home study about the normal things students’ studies.

“I’m here to accompany you, besides—“

“You’re going to meet Axcel?” I asked teasingly, we still live in the palace, we stay at the left side, which is pretty far from the right side; where the royals stays and classes are took.

“Yes. We’re going to play fencing” she looks excited, Axcel taught her how to fence.

And since the prince is a good bird, he told us to call him just by his name.

“Alisha!” I heard a call from behind us while walking, it was Gerald.

He’s actually Axcel’s right hand man

“Gerald, what’s the problem?”

“The queen told me to get you; she said she will discuss things with you and Nalla”

“Alright, we will follow” then we followed him to a room, the one with a gold and white door

“Welcome, my daughters” the queen greeted when we went inside

“I want to talk about the runes, you two, are the next guardians—“

“But I want to be a princess!!” I suddenly exclaimed, I covered my mouth and apologized

“It’s alright, Alisha, I understand, you could be a princess, while protecting the runes”

I still do not get it

{NALLA}

This is my destiny, to protect.

“Those runes are the reason why my parents died” I said while playing with Axcel

“And those runes are important to them, that is why you should protect it just like what they did” he’s right, but it’s also the reason why I’m alone now

“Don’t think that it’s the reason why you’re alone now, because you’re not, you have me, Gerald, The Queen, and you have Alisha” this boy must be a mind reader

“You once told me that life is a game of chess, your parents made a move, it had a consequence because the black side made a move as well, but there is still hope, you have us, it’s not yet ‘check mate’” he’s right again, and with that I stopped moving and looked down

“You should rest, reflect everything that I have said” he then walked out the room; I fixed myself and went out as well.

I headed back to the left side, where we live.

I saw Alisha doing her ‘training’ once again, she does trice a week or even more.

“How’s fencing?” she said as she balanced ten books on her head

“Fine” I simply said, that’s a sign that I’m really tired so she just ignored it

I went to my room, change to, well, a gown of course, I need to.

I walked out and went back to Alisha, I decided to watch her.

{AXCEL}

“I don’t like this, my queen” I finally said to break the silence, I’m in the royal room, the one with the thrones, with the queen beside me

“You have to, it’s the only way” she gave me a mission to encourage Nalla to protect the runes; I know it’s wrong, it might affect her, but it’s a royal order. She also told Gerald to do the same.

“You have to make them protect the treasure, it might be selfish bs11ut the people needs it” she stopped her tears from falling

What will this end up to?

Then Gerald walked in

{GERALD}

I entered the royal room; I saw the queen and Axcel surrounded with silence

”My queen, I did the first move” the mission, it sure is hard

“Very well done Gerald, please continue it” then she smiled, she’s been like a mother to me since mine died

“As you wish, my Queen” I took my leave

After our mission, I know something not good will happen.

{ALISHA}

Protect the runes

Thinking of doing what my parents once did. I know I can’t.

But I know Nalla can. She’s strong, unlike me, it takes me to bite my tongue, clench my fists, and anything else just to stop my tears. But her, she simply stops it.

“Don’t think about it too much, focus” she’s really mature, in words, thinking, and actions.

“Y-yes” I started moving with fifteen books now, Nalla added five

But in anyway, I will protect the runes; I won’t waste my parents’ sacrifice

In our life, everything has a purpose. We just can’t accept that purpose most of the time. For me life is like balancing books on your head, make a move, sometimes it will turn out just the way you wanted it to be; not falling. But sometimes, make a move and a consequence will happen; falling.

We all have our own mission, that’s why there is a purpose in every happening that occurs in our life. Something that could change everything.

An important mission; that can change EVERTHING.
