(5) CHILDHOOD, ONCE AGAIN
Our lives shouldn't be measured by days, months and years. It should be in terms of the moments when we laugh heartily, when we act carefree under the care of our dear ones, when the small things out of our trials gives us huge happiness. There were three days left for Subhadra's marriage. That's why siblings had decided to spend these three days leaving aside rules, regulations and responsibilities.
Though Kanha and Subhadra could be emersed in enjoyment but dau couldn't. He had to check upon preparations. He had to balance the hours of duty and delight. The session of enjoyment started from day one in morning itself.
"Where are dau, arya and Subhadra? Why they didn't come for breakfast?" Jambavati roamed eyes towards her sister in hope to get an answer.
"Even children are missing though," Revati added a supplementary fact making everyone realise about absence of Bhanu, Shambh, Nishant and Ulmukh.
"When I saw arya last time he was seeming excited for something," Mitravindha's revelation pushed everyone into a thoughtful silence.
"Let's search them," Satyabhama was curious to know about the reason of Kanha's excitement.
Revati, Rukmini, Jambavati and Nagnajiti stayed at dining hall to serve everyone. Satyabhama, Mitravindha, Kalindi, Lakshmana and Bhadra went on searching the missing members. After enquiring for a short they came to know that all the missing ones were in garden.
They reached at garden to be surprised by the sight of Kanha and Subhadra was sitting on a tree, and dau was standing beneath the tree. Bhanu, Nishant, Ulmukh, Shambh too on tree along with Kanha and Subhadra.
"What's going here? What are you all doing on tree?" Satyabhama asked slightly glaring at everyone on tree.
"We are reliving our childhood, Satya!" Kanha answered catching an apple from dau.
"What do you mean?" Mitravindha raised over her tips of fingers to look at Kanha.
"When Gudiya was a child we used to have breakfast on tree very often. So, today we are repeating those days," Kanha increased the pitch of his voice from tree.
"I used to stand beneath tree to protect them from falling down," Dau smiled, and threw a guava towards Kanha.
"Understood. But why these children are here?" A question of curiosity was asked by Kalindi.
"They wished to join us. That's why they are here, Bhabhi!" Subhadra replied in a happiness filled voice.
"Ok, be careful while climbing down," Lakshmana adviced in a concerned tone.
"And come soon inside," Bhadra completed the caring phrase of Lakshmana.
"In childhood we used to rest under shadow of tree after breakfast. So, we will rest here. Don't worry about us," Sisters looked at each other feeling lack of words to utter.
"Don't worry. I will take care of their climbing down," After dau's assurance all of them left from there.
After lunch the gaming session started in garden. Bhanu, Shambh, Nishant, Ulmukh too joined their fathers and aunt.
"What's this bhanu? Did you have a bath in mud?" Satyabhama glared at her son whose clothes were all muddy.
"Not only me Shambh, Nishant and Ulmukh too have the same condition. They already have rushed into chamber to change. But it's my bad luck to be caught," Bhanu murmured under his breath.
"What are you murmuring? How did your clothes get dirty?" Her glare was a bit sharper than before.
"Actually we were making our favourite animals with wet soil," Bhanu answered in a caution tone not to get an ear pulling.
"We means!" He gulped yet managed to speak quickly.
"We four brothers along with pitashri, jyeshth pitashri and bua maa," She face palmed over this reply.
"Please, let me go. We have to resume our gaming session. Pitashri had planned to play each and every game in these three days he used to play in childhood," After getting a nod from his mother Bhanu escaped from there all speedily.
"These siblings are really amusements to abolish all the stresses anyone could have possibly," Smiling to herself she went ahead.
After sometime Arjun, Pradyumn, Satyabhama and dau who took a short break from games came to garden. At that time Kanha and Subhadra were racing against each other. Kanha was running faster than Subhadra. Just Kanha was about to cross the line to win Subhadra hugged him from back. Being inattentive he dragged her to his front, and she skipped the line with one jump.
"I won. See, I won!" She exclaimed happily.
"I was about to win. You did cheating," He countered placing hands on hip.
"When did I cheat? It's you who made me forward to win. So, in this case I am not a cheater," Ruffling his hairs she ran to dau to hide behind him.
"Dau, he is chasing me unnecessarily," She pointed towards Kanha with a mischievous smile.
"Why are you chasing her, Kanha? She may fall. By the way she is saying right. You made her win. So, she's not a cheater," Dau patted Subhadra's head.
"Dau, come and join us," Kanha urged holding dau's hand.
"For now you have to join me. You are a brother whose sister is going get married. How can you chill all the time being a child?" Dau freed his hand from Kanha's grip drawing a sulky expression over his face.
"Your son, Pradyumn is more responsible than you. Accomplishing his tasks he is helping others in his bua's marriage preparation, and you!" Everyone was chuckling secretly over dau's words.
"What me! I did the most important work in this marriage. Due to my idea this marriage is happening only," Again a countered statement rang in air.
"Only due to your idea, Madhav! Don't our acceptance has any role in this marriage?" Arjun was enjoying to counter his best friend.
"Fine, you two also have a little bit of share in this marriage. But major one is mine," Kanha declared looking at Arjun and Subhadra with a dominating gesture.
"Ok, you have the major role. But now grace your presence to help us," Before Kanha could say something dau dragged him.
After evening Subhadra spent time with her sisters in law listening about their day and their sweet banter to chose the best attire and jewelleries for her. After that she went to her parents to get their pamper. With this routine three days passed away in no time.
The next day was about to witness the most awaiting sunrise.
