✒ 3 ✒

The King died in a Hinox ambush. The Queen pregnant with a son. The son that would grow to being King. However she was sickened and ill. Her pregnancy not matching with the time she was married as rumor spread. Rumor she was an adulterer or that she sinned premaritally with her appointed knight. The Hylian prince was to be a prince of sin and even a one not to be trusted, as everyone would think of him a devil child with Ganondorf's spirit. Zelda lived with that hatred from her people, but loved the unborn spawn that lived in her, not caring what anyone were to say about it to her.

Link heard the rumors and lived with dread knowing he had impregnated another woman while also being expected to marry Sidon. However Sidon told him to not worry about it too much. Yet he knew of Zelda being ill as her mother was when conceived with her before her. She was dying of the same illness that killed the previous Queen. By having a son she had ended this pattern thankfully. Yet everyone knew of Zelda's near death. Even if she were an adulterer, she was still the Queen. So when the wedding was over, the King dead before he had the chance to meet his son, and the Queen growing more and more weak, she mustered strength on the final day and was to deliver Link's child.

Link had heard rapid news of Zelda's delivery and was rushed to the castle. Sidon, now Links husband at his side. Their wedding day was a simple one for a royal wedding as far as royal weddings go. One that was long, but had enough wine to satisfy the retired knight, infamous adulterer, and future father to the next Hylian king. All of this being too much for a young man only one hundred and nineteen. So upon arrival of home he found that the village was well rebuilt and that the castle was rushedly fixed but yet still as majestic as one hundred years prior. Lights from fire lamps were at the windows and people were rushing into the large doors. This included Link, who was running ahead of Sidon drinking from a small flask of ale.

Sidon took away the device and had brought Links pipe and had it in his satchel. Link was responsible enough to at least not drink in the presence of his son. The one he would be in charge of to raise as a ruler of a kingdom of not one but two kingdoms, these being Hyrule and Termina, and as well as part of the Zora's Domain. All around Link considered himself screwed. But with aid from Impa and Sidon perhaps this would not be terrible. However what was simply terrible, was the agonized cries of Zelda. Her whines and grunts almost inhuman. Something Link was afraid to enter the room for.

He had been well able to handle the sight of Calamity Ganon. The king of demons and the embodiment of Demise, the Devil himself. But hell bring no fear like a woman in birth.

Knowing he heard the sound of Impa, yelling to her commands of pushing and breathing. Zelda obeyed and screamed and writhed. Her cries reminding Link of Zelda's days running from guardians. That was a tragic day for certain, when he first saw her breaking down in the rain, her angelic white dress sticking to her body in the mud as her eyes clenched intensely shut. Link knew that look. Except now she was writhing like a worm. What's worse was she was dying slowly from being torn and split so far open. Link watched as he watched her cries. How could this at all be worth her death, even if she was as cruel as she was one hundred and one years ago?

However another shrill and high shriek filled the room as Link had Zelda's hand. Impa, with her arms now in place held the small youth in her arms as it shrieked out like its mother as if mimicking her noises not out of the same fear but out of wanting to learn how to react like its mother. This was a successful attempt, not only proving that it was smart, but may bare the very same triforce of wisdom on his palm. The fact brought a smile to Link's face for a change. Usually he grinned or smirked or laughed at a joke. Yet never once did he legitimately have the true joy of the moment. His heart racing, his head pounding, his knees deemed frail. His heart was heavy as with a Royal sheer, cut the boy free of his mother's dying hold.

Queen Zelda had her hair down. A thing that she had not done since she was last at Links side. Her hair would be up in a massive updo, like that of a Queen would have. Her face was free of red lips and eyes free of eye liner made from lead. Her nails eaten away by years of use of lie to do the nails in French tips. Zelda's chemise had been removed to allow her easier breathing. Her pettycoat obviously removed so the small lad could come out cleanly. The only thing hiding her nude form from the others watching gaze was a large blanket with a tapestry sewn by her mother.

As Zelda reached out she let out a weak little grin. "Link...do you remember me...?" She asked. Link nodded and put their son in her arms. She stared down, slowly looking at the child on her bosom and letting him nibble on the dug for nourishment. Her face pale now and weak as she had lost so much blood. Link took noticed and covered his mouth in shock as his blue eyes bulged. Zelda reached out to him and placed her palm on his own as he intertwined her fingers with his and locked him in place, wrists touching as triforces met. "Link..." She whispered.

He turned his head to her. She was laying flat now slowly resting her head as if sleepy. "There's still so much to do..." She closed her eyes. Her grip tightening on Link. "And so many painful memories we must bear..." Then it loosened ever so slowly Link could hardly take notice as his heart sank. "I believe in my heart...that if all of us work together...we can restore Hyrule to its...its former...glory......perhaps....even beyond. But it must end the beginning with us...and I must be off," she explained as tears welled in her smiling eyes. Link could feel his heart pattering rapidly. "May my King forgive me...may you, call our next one Arthur and raise him well. Know I would want that..." Zelda whispered.

"I'm sorry for the way I've said what I've said..." Link whispered between tears. "I will be strong as an ox, wise as an owl, and as brave as a wolf if need be to ensure the prince grows able to rule with honor your majesty..." He whispered as he tried and failed to meet her glossing eyes. They were almost a more faded misty color. "Thank you Link....I don't want to go......there's so much to do......... I want so much to keep going and protect............I have to tell you............" But her voice was too weak as she coughed and began to feel herself oddly floating like one would in a traumatic scenario, unable to tell whatever it was she would say. What one would probably call worse, is that it was not I love you as Link once hoped she would say to him. No. Rather she went cold as the smell suddenly hit that she was gone, muscles relaxing and releasing the stench of feces on the room. Leaving Link with a son in his arms passed to him after Zelda was gone.

Link left the room alone and filled with regrets. He blamed himself for the cause of the Queen's passing. Sidon was just outside and had witnessed the events from in the doorway. Link's eyes only met that of the child's. He was to turn a hundred and twenty at the end of the month and he was dealing with raising a son. How could this be so? Although many a child were born to women as young as thirteen if not twelve in this time period, it was still a terrible thought for Link. Not the child, it was the thought of raising one so young.

How could he do this? Raising a child when some were on their way from the lake were he laid with Sidon? No, they usually did not survive the trip back from that lake so he tried not gaining attachment to raising then yet. He had to raise a boy while being a royal consort. Its safe to say he was "Royally fucked" as he would put it. Which suddenly, he found himself hungry for a drink. Lusting even. After witnessing Zelda's death, aware it was his fault, and then knowing to raise a baby was like drowning, then at the last second before death finding yourself rescued and then handed a baby.

Link paced back and forth. Sidon trying to get him to leave and let Zelda to rest. Link tugged his bangs as his heart pounded. "Sidon I'm scared...I...I'm not ready for a kid let alone doing this without the other parent!" He said. His arms clearly shaking. Sidon slowly approached his spouse, calmly. Link began to rave like a mad man, venting about his issues as if they were not sentences but one word. Each word gaining more speed as he spoke, going from English into Celtic rambles.

"Ó daor Zelda, logh dom mar tá a fhios agam gur theip orm cheana féin! Bhí sé i gceist agamsa tú a chosaint agus fós anseo tá mé ina athair amháin ar an leanbh a rug tú féin agus d 'iarr mé fear, níl a fhios agam más breá liom!"

Sidon stood blank as he attempted to rethink his words.
From Zelda's dear, forgive me as I know I've already failed! I meant to protect you and yet here I am one father of the baby you have been born and asked for a man, I do not know if I can love him like you! Were his words. Words Sidon could roughly translate. Impa had approached slowly to take the baby from Link's tight grasp so she may dress the young lad in some type of cloth or royal silk.

"Cad a roghnaigh tú a leagan leis? Ba chóir do ridire meisciúil nach raibh ar mian leat níos mó a choinneáil beo leat mar gheall ar a rogha féin as eagla go gcaillfí a shaol féin! Anois, tá tú ag leagan fuar agus álainn in ainneoin an tinneas báis a bháis agus na háiseanna ... Ó Impa, glacaigh an leanbh seo agus beidh tú macánta mar a iarr mé an bhféadfadh mé riamh an páiste seo a ardú chun bheith ina rí! Tá eagla orm nach bhféadfainn é a dhéanamh mar sin!"

He handed Impa the baby as she cradled it. Staring into its greenish blue eyes that mimicked his mother. Filled with concern but otherwise untouched or disturbed by his Father's own qualms. Rather the baby just looked tired and quite confused.

Who did you choose to set with?! An energetic knight that you did not want to keep alive because of its choice for fear of losing his own life! Now, you are setting cold and beautiful despite the death of the illness and the facilities ... Ó Impa, grab this baby and you will be honest as I asked if I could ever raise this child to become a king ! I'm afraid I could not do it like that!

Impa straightened her back and with a free arm struck Link's sobbing head with a cane.

"Laghdaigh Nasc. Ní dhéanfaidh tú fíneáil ach amháin mura scoirfidh tú imní ort. Braitheann sé ar Hyrule go ndéanann tú scíth a ligean duit féin maidir leis seo. Níl ort ach anáil a ghlacadh agus bualadh le súile do mhic. Ciallaíonn sé sin nach ndéanann tú féin agus do athair dearmad ar aon cheann agat!"

Reduce yourself Link. You will only pay a fine of agony unless you cease to worry. It depends on Hyrule that you relax yourself in this regard. Simply take a breath and meet your son's eyes. That means that son and father do not forget any hope and you shall know how to raise him! Sidon thought in translation. Rough rough translation.

He cleared his throat and approached the new parent and child as he aided Link's weak arms. Using what little Irish Sidon knew he could muster attempted to add, "...Ná nasc Máistir Máistreachta riamh. Ar do thaobh tá ceantar Hylian agus dhá réigiún agat. Chomh maith le Sheikah chun cuidiú chomh maith. Mar do fhear céile, beidh muid in ann cabhrú leis an óg beo lenár leanaí mar is féidir le Zora fás a chruthú i bpobal amháin. Cabhróimid agus déileálfaimid do chineál chomh maith leis an mbealach a dhéanfaimid, agus beidh sé i bhforaithne scríobhfaidh mé an chéad uair eile."

...Never fear this Master Link. On your side you have the Hylian area and two regions. Along with Sheikah to help as well. As your husband, we will be able to help young people live with our children as Zora can create growth in one community. We will help and treat your kind as well as the way we will, and it will be in decree I will write the next time dawn breaks...
